Katy Perry's album "Teenage Dream" uses a sweet theme with bright pinks, reds and blues throughout the digipak design. The front cover features Katy Perry looking provocative to attract both female and male audiences. It also hints at familiar song titles to pique interest. The inside continues the cohesive sweet theme with images of circles representing doughnuts and candies. The back provides information on songs and legal terms while maintaining the visual theme through a cotton candy backdrop and circular O's mimicking sweets. The consistent sweet theme and attractive presentation of Perry is meant to draw in the target audience of 15-23 year old girls and boys to purchase the album.

1. Digipak Analysis
Katy Perry-Teenage Dream
I have chosen Katy Perry's most recent album Teenage Dream to do for my analysis as I
feel it fits the pop genre which I have chosen to work with really well and the digipak
has alot which I can say about how the colours and images are used to represent
different qualities they aree trying to show.
The picture above shows the four main parts to the digipak which are the front cover
shown to the right, the back cover shown in the centre, the inside information shown to
the left and up above and the cds themselves at the bottom. The theme I think Katy is
trying to show through her album is a sweet theme with lots of bright colours such as
pinks, reds and bright blues used. The company have thought of inventive ways to link
the cd and digipak to the theme of sweet by showing only images seen to be sweet. The
fact the cds are both circles have been linked here by having bright patterns on them
making them appear to be a doughnut and a sweet (both round foods). Each of the
parts has the same kind of theme and colours so it all links in together. Generally for
each of the parts Katy Perry is centrally focused to show she is the main point of the
pack and to show to the viewers what the cd is all about.

2. The above picture shows how the digipak would look when all the parts are together
and how it would be sold on the shelves in shops. The front cover is simple yet
presentable to attract the audience and make them more intreged about finding more
information about it and picking up the cd to look at it. The key audience for this cd in
my opinion are girls between the age of 15 and 23 which will be attracted by the pinks
and girly background. However Katy furthers her audience by looking provocative and
sexy on the front cover which will also attract the male audience to the cd. The front
covers sticker attracts the audience further by revealing the album has songs which the
audience will be familiar with. To link in with the sweet theme further and give the
album some originality the album has a cotton candy scent which links the visual to the
smell and carries on the theme even further.
The back continues the theme of the front but holds much more information about the
album itself such as the songs available on the cd, the terms and conditions and the bar

3. code. After assumably being interested by the front cover the back covers main focus is
to inform the audience about the video. Whilst reading the information they are still
familiar with the sweet theme of the front cover through the candy floss in the
background and each O written using the similar sweet used for the cd. The red bubble
writing matches the background and in all everything links in with the theme in order to
attract the audience into buying the cd.
