Health technology assessment (HTA) is a multidisciplinary process that systematically and transparently evaluates medical, social, economic and ethical issues related to health technologies to inform health policy. HTA aims to determine if a new technology provides added value compared to current standards of care and which patients would benefit most, using international evidence about the technology and local healthcare contexts. The main purpose of HTA is to advise health policymakers on reimbursement and use of technologies. The European network for HTA developed a core model to standardize HTA that assesses nine domains including health problems, safety, clinical effectiveness, costs, ethics, and organizational and social impacts.

He discussed major developments in radiology technology over time like the discovery of X-rays and development of CT, MRI, and teleradiology. In the present, he emphasized trends of convergence and interoperability between systems. Examples of leading practices at vRad were described, including protocols for stroke, trauma, and critical findings. The future will see more connected and integrated systems, a shift to paying for quality outcomes, and growing roles for analytics and AI.

Bypass surgery improves blood flow by attaching a blood vessel to bypass a blocked coronary artery. High cholesterol, high blood pressure, obesity, diabetes, and inactivity increase heart disease risk and should be managed through lifestyle changes and medical treatment.

Different types of painful fractures

- 2. Fracture A fracture means that there has been a break in the bone. Therefore, when someone says they broke their arm, this means that they fractured their arm. Fractures are caused by an abnormal amount of force being put through the bone. This can happen in a car accident, a fall, or a direct blow. Fractures are classified according to the angle of the break, how the break happened, and how large the break is. The following pictures show a few different types of fractures. Fracture A fracture means that there has been a break in the bone. Therefore, when someone says they broke their arm, this means that they fractured their arm. Fractures are caused by an abnormal amount of force being put through the bone. This can happen in a car accident, a fall, or a direct blow. Fractures are classified according to the angle of the break, how the break happened, and how large the break is. The following pictures show a few different types of fractures.
- 4. Swelling
- 5. Bruising
- 6. Deformity
- 8. Injuries to organs – such as the brain (in the case of skull fractures) or chest organs (if a rib breaks).
- 11. Attend to any bleeding wounds first. Stop the bleeding by pressing firmly on the site with a clean dressing. If a bone is protruding, apply pressure around the edges of the wound.
- 12. If bleeding is controlled, keep the wound covered with a clean dressing.
- 13. Do not attempt to straighten broken bones.
- 14. For limb fractures, provide support and comfort such as a pillow under the lower leg or forearm. However do not cause further pain or unnecessary movement of the broken bone.
- 15. Apply a splint to support the limb.
- 16. Immobilize the area by applying a sling for arms. Limbs should be immobilised above and below a fracture site to be effective.
- 17. If possible, elevate the fractured area and apply a cold pack to reduce swelling and pain.
- 18. In an emergency dial triple zero (000) for an ambulance.
