Diaper rash is a common skin condition in infants caused by prolonged exposure to moisture from urine or feces. It can be treated by changing diapers frequently to keep the skin dry, exposing the skin to air when not in a diaper, gently cleansing the skin with warm water, and applying protective creams or ointments. If the rash is severe or does not improve with standard care, it may be a yeast infection requiring antifungal treatment. Preventing diaper rash involves promptly changing wet or soiled diapers to limit moisture on the skin.
