3. SURFACE PREPARATION
• BRIEF DESCRIPTION:
Surface preparation is considered to be the most important step of any
resinous(epoxy)flooring application. A clean surface is necessary to establish a
strong bond between the resinous (epoxy)flooring and concrete.
A)NEW CONCRETE:
a)New concrete should be well cured and dry prior to application.
b)Laitance is always present on new concrete which has to be removed by
machine grinding to over come the poor adhesion
c)Repair cracks prior to resinous (epoxy)flooring application
B) OLD CONCRETE:
a)Old concrete should be structurally sound ,any unsound area must be
repaired.
b)Old surface are often contaminated ,worn or degraded.So oil or grease or
debris contamination should be properly removed

• BRIEF DESCRIPTION:
• PRIMING :
Priming plays a major role in resinous (epoxy) flooring .It produces a thin coat that
the next coat can chemically fuse with it .Epoxy primers are thin and provide for
better adhesion because they penetrate into the concrete substrate for a better
bond.
SCREED LEVELLING :
As priming is going on SCREED MIXTURE is layed and leveled with the tackiness of
primer .This makes the bonding of concrete to screed layer is increased .
And screed layer is levelled with aluminium slides.
COMPRESSION OF EPOXY SCREED :
This process makes more advantages to epoxy flooring .By compression the filler
and binder forms a uniform structure to have more compression strength and
impact resistance from base.

the porosity of screed .This process makes the screed
more compaction with binder.
