1. Aurangabad is a city in Maharashtra state in India.
2. It is a district and divisional headquarter located on the
Kham river.
3. This is the fastest increasing city in the world which is
surrounded by hills on all directions
4. The city is a tourism hub, surrounded by many historical
monuments, including the Ajanta Caves and Ellora Caves,
which are UNESCO World Heritage Sites, as well as Bibi Ka
Maqbara and Panchakki.
5. It had 52 gates and the strong presence of these can be felt
as one drives through the city.
6. The City was founded in 1610 by Malik Amber.
7. Aurangabad is a very historical city along with its
surrounding towns and villages.
8. The city with the rich medieval heritage has too much to
offer to its tourists from historical monuments, religious
places, royal gardens and its art and craft, all of national
importance.

Temple – Important Hindu pilgrimage, Anwa
Temple – has a sanctuary and a mandap
(open hall) with decorated pillars.
● Not to be missed : Walking up the Hill
towards Daulatabad fort. It is surrounded by
a 40 ft deep trench that has Crocodiles. See
the coiled network of secret, quizzical and
subsurface passages.

Getting There :
Air - Aurangabad Airport is
conveniently located 10km from
the city and has direct flights to
and from Delhi and Mumbai.
Services of both Indian as well
as Jet Airways are available for
Aurangabad.
Rail - Aurangabad is well
connected to Mumbai and other
cities. There are two trains that
depart daily from Mumbai (388
kms), the Tapovan Express and
the Devgiri Express is an
overnight train.
Road - There are several luxury
and state run bus services that
ply between Mumbai and
Aurangabad and the
Ajanta/Ellora Caves. Excellent
Roadways also connect
Aurangabd to different parts of
the country. Taxis can be hired
for Local Transport.
STUDY AREA
1. The study area Aurangabad is located
on latitude N 19° 53' 47"and E 75° 23' 54"
with an area of about 100km square
which is the capital metro city of
Maharashtra State, India.
2. The Aurangabad city has situated from
mean sea level of 581mts.
3. The city of Aurangabad situated on the
Deccan trap stand by the Dudhna valley
between the Lakhwara ranges of the
northern side and satara hills are
located in southern part of the city. It is
having area of the 138.50 sq. Km.
4. Its total population is 609206 male and
female 565910 as per 2011 census.

LAND USE CLASSIFICATION
1. The Satellite data has been analyzed
to the urban land use classification
of Aurangabad city.
2. The urban land changes the
agricultural land changing in to
settlement area. Barren land has
been increased its different
reasons.
3. These are the Industrial growth and
second are after 1982 the municipal
council converts into Municipal
Corporation in 1982 and Additional
18 villages including corporation
area then its area has been
increased upto 138.84 sq.km.
LAND USE CLASSIFICATION
Water bodies and vegetation also observed the negative change i.e.1.17 sq.km and 4.42
sq.km respectively from 1991 to 2011 in Aurangabad city. Small water bodies have found in
city area these are Salim Ali Lake, Harsool Lake and Sawangi water body.

Analysis of Proposals :
● Aurangabad is shortlisted as one of the 100 cities to be developed as a smart
city under a “Smart City Mission”.
● As Aurangabad city is also known as AURIC (AURangabad Industrial City).
● 60% of land is used for Industrial Development consists of
■ Textile Industry
■ Food processing Industry
■ Defense Manufacturing
■ Electronic industry
■ Automobile Industry
■ Engineering Products
● 40% of land is used for Agricultural, commercial,
institutional, residential or mix-use development.
● This consists of :
■ Hotel
■ Hospital
■ Park
■ School
■ Small and big retail
■ Entertainment Hub
■ Residential
● Future development proposals are:
○ Divided into 15 sectors
○ Which consists of:
■ Underground trunk infrastructure for efficient operations.
■ Uninterrupted water supply and Water recycle facilities.
■ Effective Street lighting.
■ Road over bridges in roads.
■ Sewage treatment Plant.
■ CCTV Camera
■ Traffic Monitoring
■ Location Services
■ Wide range of WiFi
● E-Land Management system is also being implemented.
CONCLUSION
● The present study has shown that there is significant decrease of
agriculture area and increase in settlement area from year 1991 to
year 2011.
● The rapid urban growth has been transformed most of the
agricultural land and vegetation cover had been convert into
residential area.
● The total agricultural land is 48.18 sq.km in 1991 presently area is
decreased up to 19.03 sq.km. In 2011 that is the decreased to -25.19
percent.

  • 2. 1. Aurangabad is a city in Maharashtra state in India. 2. It is a district and divisional headquarter located on the Kham river. 3. This is the fastest increasing city in the world which is surrounded by hills on all directions 4. The city is a tourism hub, surrounded by many historical monuments, including the Ajanta Caves and Ellora Caves, which are UNESCO World Heritage Sites, as well as Bibi Ka Maqbara and Panchakki. 5. It had 52 gates and the strong presence of these can be felt as one drives through the city. 6. The City was founded in 1610 by Malik Amber. 7. Aurangabad is a very historical city along with its surrounding towns and villages. 8. The city with the rich medieval heritage has too much to offer to its tourists from historical monuments, religious places, royal gardens and its art and craft, all of national importance. FACT FILE OF AURANGABAD ● Temperature : Annual Temperature Ranges from 9 to 40 °C. ● Also known as : City of Gates ● Monument heritage : Daulatabad Fort – One of the Biggest Fort, Bibi ka Maqbara – Replica of Taj Mahal, Paithan – Historical Town. ● Temple of attraction : Grishneshwar Temple – Important Hindu pilgrimage, Anwa Temple – has a sanctuary and a mandap (open hall) with decorated pillars. ● Not to be missed : Walking up the Hill towards Daulatabad fort.   • 5. STUDY AREA 1. The study area Aurangabad is located on latitude N 19° 53' 47"and E 75° 23' 54" with an area of about 100km square which is the capital metro city of Maharashtra State, India. 2. The Aurangabad city has situated from mean sea level of 581mts. 3. The city of Aurangabad situated on the Deccan trap stand by the Dudhna valley between the Lakhwara ranges of the northern side and satara hills are located in southern part of the city. It is having area of the 138.50 sq. Km. 4. Its total population is 609206 male and female 565910 as per 2011 census.

  • 8. LAND USE CLASSIFICATION 1. The Satellite data has been analyzed to the urban land use classification of Aurangabad city. 2. The urban land changes the agricultural land changing in to settlement area. Barren land has been increased its different reasons. 3. These are the Industrial growth and second are after 1982 the municipal council converts into Municipal Corporation in 1982 and Additional 18 villages including corporation area then its area has been increased upto 138.84 sq.km.
  • 10. Water bodies and vegetation also observed the negative change i.e.1.17 sq.km and 4.42 sq.km respectively from 1991 to 2011 in Aurangabad city. Small water bodies have found in city area these are Salim Ali Lake, Harsool Lake and Sawangi water body.

Analysis of Proposals : ● Aurangabad is shortlisted as one of the 100 cities to be developed as a smart city under a “Smart City Mission”. ● As Aurangabad city is also known as AURIC (AURangabad Industrial City). ● 60% of land is used for Industrial Development consists of ■ Textile Industry ■ Food processing Industry ■ Defense Manufacturing ■ Electronic industry ■ Automobile Industry ■ Engineering Products
  • 18. ● 40% of land is used for Agricultural, commercial, institutional, residential or mix-use development. ● This consists of : ■ Hotel ■ Hospital ■ Park ■ School ■ Small and big retail ■ Entertainment Hub ■ Residential
  • 19. ● Future development proposals are: ○ Divided into 15 sectors ○ Which consists of: ■ Underground trunk infrastructure for efficient operations. ■ Uninterrupted water supply and Water recycle facilities. ■ Effective Street lighting. ■ Road over bridges in roads. ■ Sewage treatment Plant. ■ CCTV Camera ■ Traffic Monitoring ■ Location Services ■ Wide range of WiFi ● E-Land Management system is also being implemented.
  • 20. CONCLUSION ● The present study has shown that there is significant decrease of agriculture area and increase in settlement area from year 1991 to year 2011. ● The rapid urban growth has been transformed most of the agricultural land and vegetation cover had been convert into residential area. ● The total agricultural land is 48.18 sq.km in 1991 presently area is decreased up to 19.03 sq.km. In 2011 that is the decreased to -25.19 percent.
