This document summarizes the development of high-yielding sweet potato cultivars in Indonesia. It discusses breeding strategies that focus on high yield, early harvest, stress tolerance, and nutritional value. The general plant breeding process is outlined as managing variability through selection, preliminary and advanced field testing, and cultivar release over multiple locations and seasons. By mass propagating selected genotypes early, the sweet potato breeding cycle can be accelerated from 20-24 months.
