Do you have a seemingly never-ending “to do” list? A list of goals that you haven't been able to achieve? Are you always late to every meeting/event? We all have the same 24 hours in a day, so why does it seem like you're always playing catch-up?
Having a list of things you can't check off can be demotivating. Constantly running late and making others wait is more than an annoyance, it can cost you big time. Getting the most out of life, including things like reaching your goals, improving your life by accomplishing more, increasing the time spent with loved ones, and learning new skills - all boils down to how YOU manage YOUR time.

Lean Startup and Your Career: Using Lean Principles to Find and Get Your Drea...Mark Horoszowski
61% of employee are disengaged, and even in the for-impact sector, nearly half are looking to leave their job.
At the NetImpact conference, I presented on how to use Lean Startup Principles to Find and Get Your Dream Job.
Designers increasingly find themselves in leadership roles. They are so passionate about the work they do, but are not always prepared for the leadership role that they find themselves in. The good thing is that we can learn the qualities of an awesome creative leader, and it is within our control to change our behaviour accordingly. My talk will be useful for in-house design teams, entrepreneurs in start-ups and design agencies. It will help them understand what qualities they should adopt if they want to support teams in design, development and delivery. I have tapped into Designit and Wipros global network of 15 studios and spoken to other subject experts.
We're Hiring! Digital Product Team IntroductionJulie Newton

Many agencies have become frustrated with over-specced sequential waterfall projects. Their inflexible methodologies have too often led to outcomes that didn’t realize their full potential. In contrast, agile methods like Scrum and Kanban have proven successful ways to build and run software. But how do you apply agile methods to the reality of an agency’s project based work? There are many challenges and the most crucial question is: what if our ideal work method and our clients’ realities don’t match?
Edenspiekermann have been working agile since 2009. They’ve since achieved terrific results and have never looked back. They now employ about as many developers as designers, creating meaningful digital products and services for global clients like Red Bull, Cisco Systems, The Economist and the German and Dutch Railways.
Christian will talk about the often challenging contrast between wanting to deliver the best possible product and making sure you’re satisfying the client’s internal project needs. How to deliver excellent customer satisfaction while working as agile as possible?
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
Christian is the guy designers are ambivalent about. He’s not a font guy. He’s the business guy—the one who works the odd hours creating and maintaining relationships with some of the largest companies in the world. Over the past decade, he has led business development efforts for numerous agencies on three continents.
Karen Bachmann and Lisa McMichael presented different types of listening skills and how those techniques help UXers at the December amUX meetup.
Like many UX practitioners, you are continuously engaged in user research, meetings and workshops. These activities require observing and taking good notes, and listening. But are you really listening or simply hearing what people have to say? For most of us it’s the latter. During the Listen up! Workshop, we’ll discuss the obvious and nuanced differences between listening and hearing, along with some of the barriers and causes that affect attuned listening. And, we’ll get you out of your seat to practice listening methods so that when you leave, you’ll be armed with a better mechanism for listening.
Design thinking helps to capture audience insights, feedback, aspirations, pain points, wants, and needs. Learn how you can incorporate design thinking into all you do.

My keynote from the UX South Africa 2014 conference in Cape Town, South Africa
It's a look at the state of play including:
- It's still easy to find poor website UX in South Africa
- Informing digital strategy by making and launching things
- Problems that executives of traditionally non-digital companies face as software slowly eats the word - and some solutions: Proactive research, digital product management, agile...
- Some of the skills and talents that unicorn UX designers need to have
Design Thinking is the confidence that everyone can be part of creating a more desirable future, and a process to take action when faced with a difficult challenge. That kind of optimism is well needed in education.

During the current basic track at the School of Design Thinking at the HPI in Potsdam I had the pleasure to run several sessions with the students regarding the importance of prototyping during a design thinking project. For sure for early testing but also as important and powerful way of develop and iterate ideas inside the team. Sometimes without even words.
I combined this short input with several exercises, where the students created in several iterations and with very strikt time-boxing different prototypes based on a certain challenge.
Interesting to see how effective athe hand-over from a first version of a prototype to another team worked out in the end.
Jochen Guertler
I showed this Pecha-Kucha-Style presentation during the Entwicklertag 2014 in Frankfurt.
Interesting to see that this was the only session NOT talking about APIs, frameworks and other technological stuff. The audience was for sure "techi" but we all now that also they can build better software as "design thinkers".
The presentation was well received and the 6:40 min was good entertainment also for myself.
Design Thinking erleben. Wie innovative Ideen für komplexe Probleme entstehen.Jochen Guertler
Neben ein wenig "Theorie" stand das Ausprobieren und Erleben im Vordergrund - denn wir wissen ja alle: "the best way to experience and experience is to experience it" ;-)
How to build better software - 13 thinks to keep in mind.Jochen Guertler
Design Thinking - How to Find Innovative Solutions for Wicked ProblemsJochen Guertler
Jochen Guertler
What the hell is Design Thinking?
As part of my work as teacher at the school of Design Thinking at the Hasso-Plattner-Institute (HPI) I gave this talk describing how we combine at SAP lean and agile methodologies with design thinking to ensure efficiency and innovation.
doing ther right things. and doing the things right.
You could be a professional graphic designer and still make mistakes. There is always the possibility of human error. On the other hand if you’re not a designer, the chances of making some common graphic design mistakes are even higher. Because you don’t know what you don’t know. That’s where this blog comes in. To make your job easier and help you create better designs, we have put together a list of common graphic design mistakes that you need to avoid.

Transforming Brand Perception and Boosting Profitabilityaaryangarg12
In today's digital era, the dynamics of brand perception, consumer behavior, and profitability have been profoundly reshaped by the synergy of branding, social media, and website design. This research paper investigates the transformative power of these elements in influencing how individuals perceive brands and products and how this transformation can be harnessed to drive sales and profitability for businesses.
Through an exploration of brand psychology and consumer behavior, this study sheds light on the intricate ways in which effective branding strategies, strategic social media engagement, and user-centric website design contribute to altering consumers' perceptions. We delve into the principles that underlie successful brand transformations, examining how visual identity, messaging, and storytelling can captivate and resonate with target audiences.
Methodologically, this research employs a comprehensive approach, combining qualitative and quantitative analyses. Real-world case studies illustrate the impact of branding, social media campaigns, and website redesigns on consumer perception, sales figures, and profitability. We assess the various metrics, including brand awareness, customer engagement, conversion rates, and revenue growth, to measure the effectiveness of these strategies.
The results underscore the pivotal role of cohesive branding, social media influence, and website usability in shaping positive brand perceptions, influencing consumer decisions, and ultimately bolstering sales and profitability. This paper provides actionable insights and strategic recommendations for businesses seeking to leverage branding, social media, and website design as potent tools to enhance their market position and financial success.
