Descriptive Writing Essays Examples
Crafting an essay on the subject of "Descriptive Writing Essays Examples" can pose a
considerable challenge. The difficulty arises from the need to not only understand the principles
of descriptive writing but also to illustrate those principles through well-chosen examples. One
must possess a keen eye for detail, a vivid imagination, and the ability to convey sensory
experiences effectively through words.
To begin with, finding suitable examples that aptly demonstrate descriptive writing can be a
time-consuming task. The writer must scour various sources, ranging from literature to online
content, to identify instances where descriptive language is used to its fullest potential.
Analyzing these examples requires a deep understanding of the nuances of descriptive writing,
such as the use of vivid imagery, evocative language, and precise detailing.
Moreover, weaving these examples seamlessly into the essay demands skill in integrating
quotations and maintaining a coherent narrative. The challenge lies in striking a balance between
showcasing diverse examples and providing insightful commentary to enhance the reader's
understanding. The essay should not merely list examples but should also delve into the
techniques employed by writers to make their descriptive writing effective.
Furthermore, the task involves the responsibility of presenting a unique perspective. It requires
the writer to contribute original insights and interpretations rather than merely summarizing the
chosen examples. This necessitates a thorough understanding of the broader context of
descriptive writing and the ability to connect various examples to overarching themes or patterns.
In conclusion, tackling an essay on "Descriptive Writing Essays Examples" demands a
combination of research, analytical skills, and a flair for descriptive language. It is not just a
matter of compiling examples but involves the challenge of interpreting, synthesizing, and
presenting these examples in a cohesive and engaging manner. Only through a meticulous and
thoughtful approach can one successfully navigate the complexities of such an essay.

Smoke Signals Movie Essay
Saahil Diddee Ms.Borchers ENH 110 October 2nd, 2017 Fear of One s Past
Everyone has obstacles he/she has to go through when growing up. Some
situations are just much worse than others. These tragic memories stick with the
person for their lifetime. Victor Joseph in the movie Smoke Signals is a great
example of a man with a very dour childhood that includes many hardships. Victor
Joseph s journey in Smoke Signals highlights the universal theme on fear of one s
past. Firstly, the way Smoke Signals brings this theme alive throughout Victors
Joseph s journey. In the beginning, the movie displays the chaos of the house fire
that happened. This is the start of the disturbing memories victor has to deal with
as a child. He also then has to deal with his dad slapping his mother who then
storms out of their lives for no reason. Victor Joseph then grows up with these
memories and questions and starts to fear knowing anything about it. He and his
mother become dolorous about the whole situation and ignore it until they get to
know that Arnold Joseph is dead. This moment brings back old memories of his
father and how Smoke Signals creates the flashbacks of his old times with his father.
Smoke Signals also introduces Suzy Song who helps us get to know Victor Josephs
relationship with his father, but Victor keeps hiding and putting lots of blame onto his

Some moments that ones have to experience can be traumatizing and harmful to the
person s mind. These can affect one s actions and display signs of fear. Running
away from these issues may have positive short term effects, but as shown in Smoke
Signals conquering the fear can have a much more superior effect on the mind.
Sometimes condoning the issue can help one feel free and stable. Fearing one s own
past is something that should be avoided. This is a universal theme for the reason
that all people have to deal with disturbing memories to some
Ernest Hemingway Use Of Light Symbolism
Ernest Hemingway uses the elements of plot to keep his readers engaged. He also
uses plot to guide the readers though the story, this helps the reader recognize
Hemingway s main idea. He emphasizes on despair, loneliness, and isolation as
major themes in his short story. The themes represent the challenge of finding
meaning in life. He uses the character s despair to portray man s sense of isolation.
Throughout the story the reader can recognize Hemingway s idea that as an induvial
grows older their outlook on life changes significantly. He also challenges the reader
s understanding of compassion though the character s actions as the story progresses.

Each theme connects to each other to create a bigger picture. Isolation is the act of
being separated from other humans which causes the emotions of loneliness and
despair. As the reader knows, the old man is deaf, this may be important as
symbolically Hemingway may be suggesting that the old man is disconnected
from others which would further emphasis the idea of loneliness (McManus). This
isolates the old man by creating distance from him and others. The use of light in
the story symbolizes an escape from darkness. The old man and older waiter are
reluctant to go home because the clean and well lit cafГ© makes them feel
comfortable. They both long for a clean and well lit place to help make the
darkness barrable. Leo Gurko states that men need an enclave of light in order to
maintain themselves against the darkness (186). The light in the cafГ© is also an
escape from the darkness and despair that causes the old man to sit in the shadow
of death. Luke 1:79 encourages to give light to them that sit in darkness and in the
shadow of death as stated in the King James Bible. This verse appropriately
represents the need of light in a person who has given up on

There is two type of force affecting pine tree, these are horizontal and vertical forces.
This horizontal force is due to wind factor and the vertical force is due to gravity.
The horizontal and vertical forces are substantiated by the total turning moment
applied at any height of the stem. A tree is assumed to be fall down or break, if the
total turning moment exceeds the support provided by the root soil plate

case of pine trees these two forces plays important
Model of Justice in Plato s The Republic Essay
Model of Justice in Plato s The Republic
In what is perhaps his most well known text, The Republic, Plato explores the
fundamental concept of justice, how it is observed in the world, and its application
to the lives of men. When he identifies the good in Book VI, which is reality and
knowledge in their true forms, Plato also describes the visual world of shadows and
false reality that people perceive and is cast by the sun. What follows from these
definitions is that, while justice is a concept that exists autonomously from injustice
and other fleeting conditions, injustice requires justice to be a medium for it to exist,
develop, and spread itself.
While it might be intuitive to a person that there is a ... Show more content on

Though the whole of The Republic is an investigation of what justice is, the
relationship between it and justice is derived from the virtue of sophrosyne. This
quality of moderation and balance in a person is what Plato considers essential to the
just man. He explains, The reality is that justice is not a matter of external behavior
but the way a man privately and truly governs his inner self. The just man does not
permit the various parts of his soul to interfere with one another or usurp each other s
functions. He has set his own life in order. (Plato, 137) That which is good withstands
external pressures so that its essential quality is unchanged. Similarly, the just man is
identified not by that which we visually observe about him, but the integrity of his
internal composure. We have determined, therefore, that it is what is good about the
just man that makes him just. Having established this point about the just person, it is
sensible to consider the conditions under which a person becomes unjust.
The development of injustice in the individual occurs when we do not have the
internal balance that is indicative of a just person, but rather are excessive in some
aspect of our psychology. Our psychology is based on three aspects of the soul
which determine how a person will think and behave. Plato explains, ...[T]he soul is
composed of at least two distinct parts. One is the reasoning part. The other
Difference Of Initial Treatment Options For Anorexia
Nervosa
Comparison of initial treatment options for anorexia nervosa Word Count: 1,619
Anna Davidson Abstract: Anorexia Nervosa is a DSM 5 psychological disorder
characterized by energy restriction, weight loss and psychological comorbidities.
The treatment of anorexia nervosa involves mainly medical and psychological
interventions, and new treatments are being researched every day. Re feeding is
known to be the cornerstone, initial treatment. However, the specifics of treatment
are not currently defined. Most therapeutic programs resort to a multidisciplinary
treatment approach based off of clinical judgment and expertise. Treatment for
anorexia nervosa is an ongoing challenge due to feeding complications and
extremely high relapse rates. Future research is necessary to establish a gold
standard initial treatment plan for anorexia nervosa and to continue finding new,
more effective treatments. Anorexia Nervosa, a DSM 5 diagnosis, is characterized
by energy restriction leading to a significantly low body weight, in addition to
psychological comorbidities involving anxiety, depression, fear of weight gain,
body image disturbances, and lack of recognition of the seriousness of the disease
and low body weight. Even though this disease has a lifetime prevalence of 1 2.3%,
with an average mortality rate of 5 10%, current research on an initial, gold standard
anorexia nervosa treatment is scarce (2 4,7). Treatment choice is currently based on
The Three Stages Of Lyme Disease
What is Lyme Disease?
Lyme Disease is a bacterial infection primarily transmitted by lxodes ticks or deer
ticks. The disease is caused by a bacterium called Borrelia burgdoferi. Lyme is named
The Great Imitator, as its symptoms mimic other disease that affect the brain and
nervous system, muscles and joints, and the heart.
How do People Get Lyme Disease?
Lyme Disease is spread through the bite of a tick. Due to its size, many people do not
realize they have been bitten because most are as tiny as a poppy seed. Once the tick
has attached to its host, it will transmit the Lyme and pathogens to the bloodstream.
Three Stages or Lyme Disease
The progression of Lyme Disease is marked by three stages:

The two heroines share a harsh background; they both have had a rough childhood
and are searching for a way out of their misery. Their lives are centered around the
strategies that contribute to their rise. When writing this essay I was mainly
interested in exploring how even the characters with smaller roles could affect the
outcome, could shape the path the heroines followed towards their rise, but also
wanted to analyze all the aspects through characters contributed to the liberation of
the heroines. The main character in Walker s The Color Purpleis Celie, a black
woman who is treated very poorly by the men surrounding her. In her early years
she is abused and raped by her stepfather, Alfonso, who she has two babies from. It
shows already at the beginning of the novel that there is a mixture of parent lover,
parent children roles, which can prevent Celie s rise and also noting their similar
history will be a barrier in Precious s life as well. Throughout the novel the strong
relationships she builds with the other female characters around her have the greatest
impact on Celie s life. This sisterhood gives her the strength to liberate herself from
the oppression created by men.
The most important out of these relationships could be the one she has with her little
sister, Nettie. The book consists of a series of letters that Celie writes to her sister
and later to God. In these letters she informs Nettie about her life, and
Political Campaign Project
For my political campaign project, I partnered up with Christina in my class to

candidate for the spot as a senator with her alma mater being Stanford University
and UC Berkeley School of Law. In 2010, she was elected onto the District 6 Board

Reading about the election process is different from actually being a part of it. I
only phone banked for 6 hours, at three hour intervals, and that was already tiring
for me having to speak to people on the phone every minute. Most of the calls I
made were either rejected or did not even go through, with the occasional hostile
receiver, but there were volunteers who volunteered every day of the week for full
shifts, which would be around eight hours. They probably had more than the
occasional disgruntled receiver wanting to be removed from the calling list or anti
Jane person. I always just assumed that there were computers or machines doing all
the hard labor of the campaigning processes, but there are actually real people
working and fighting for these campaigns. They do all the paperwork, reaching out,
and canvassing. They spend months and hours fighting for this cause or person, so
when they aren t successful, it is tough. I barely worked for more than half the time
that most of the volunteers worked for, and even I was disappointed with the results
of the election. I never really followed the elections before this project and my
American Democracy class, but I m definitely determined to start because of this. I
ve actually grown an interest in politics and would like to be a part of it in the future,

How Organisational Structure and Strategic Planning Can...
Strategic planning is important for all businesses because this is when they set
there aims and will discuss how they can achieve that aim. These aims have to be
realistic and the owners will discuss this with their workers. Some aims might be
hard to get but executives will want their workers to push hard so that it can be
achieved. Marks and Spencer s aim was to be the best supermarket in Britain but
the recession had affected them really bad giving them losses of over 100 million

they have made changes in prices and the offers that are being made are worth the

Review Of Twelve Steps To A Compassionate Life By
Karen...
Compassion means to endure with other person, to put ourselves in somebody s
else shoes. It is a feeling of empathy, which in other words is to feel someone s pain
as though if it were our own. The book Twelve Steps to a Compassionate Life by
Karen Armstrong, discusses a set of different steps people should follow in order to
be compassionate. Armstrong emphasizes in the importance of compassion in the
world. The world is surrounded with problems that we do not know how to solve
and by being compassionate to one another we can create a compassionate and
peaceful world. Every person in this earth has the possibility to be compassionate to
others and this includes treating each other a they wish to be treated, which in most
cases is with dignity,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As stated before, some of the steps to take into consideration are steps one and
three, which are to learn more about compassion and to have compassion for
ourselves. Nevertheless, step seven, how little we know is another of the crucial
steps to create a change in our value system. This step consists of understanding
that we are not always right. There are a lot of problems that need to be solved in
our lives therefore we must examine our ideas by understanding how little we know.
It is a good and important beginning because people are able to listen to one another.
Thinking e know it all only blocks our knowledge and immediately pushes us
backwards. Thinking we know more than other people only creates a feeling of
superiority. Giving people the opportunity to speak their thought while listening to
them, leads to respect for others and respect for ourselves, which is a wonderful
opportunity. Armstrong refers to this step as a step that helps people to become
wiser. For instance, Armstrong said that a person might think they know something
when they don t, and someone that does not know it or even think they know it
have a higher possibility of becoming wiser (p. 99). They are more likely to become
wiser because they are open minded where as the other person is blocking all the
other ideas because he thinks he is superior to

Essay On Glow Worm
In GSO, each glow worm, agent, carries a light on two dimensional works space
and has its own vision, called local decision range. The luciferin level is associated
with the objective value of the agent s position. The brighter agent means that it flies
to a better position (has a better objective value). The agent is only attracted by a
neighbor whose luciferin intensity is higher than its own within the local decision
range and then flies towards the neighbor. The local decision range depends on the
number of neighbors. While the neighbor density is low, the range is enlarged in
order to find more neighbors, otherwise the range is reduced. The agent always
changes its moving direction according to which neighbor is selected. The higher
luciferin level the neighbor has, the more attraction which gains. Finally, most agents

Reich, German industrialists had a moral decision to make: whether to cooperate
with the Nazis and profit from the persecution of Jews, or to resist and risk their
lives and fortune. The Nazis created laws in order to persecute Jews, which
contributed to the industrialists decisions. In 1939, Jews were made to wear
identifying stars, and they were forced to live together in isolated ghettos. In the
next few years, more laws were passed inflicting pain and cruelty upon Jews. Then,
the Nazis moved beyond persecution, and threatened Jewish people s jobs and
economic stability. First, Jews had to register their property, and then, their
privately owned businesses were sold to non Jewish German industrialists at a
very low price. When their companies were sold, all of their managers and employees
were kicked out. Later, once Jews were forced to work in non Jewish Germans
factories, a rule was passed in the spring of 1940, declaring that the wages of all the
Jewish workers went directly to the SS, instead of the actual workers. Soon after,
everyone except for work essential Jews had to leave the city, causing every Jew to

Analysis Of Death Of A Naturalist By Seamus Heaney
The term poetry calls to mind stanzas full of airy, half sensical lines of perfect
rhymes about love, but there is so much more than that if one chooses to look a little
deeper. The poetry of Seamus Heaney, in fact, contains multiple meanings with a
closer study, giving a more in depth experience with a greater knowledge of the poem
s purpose. Words, phrases, rhymescheme, and structure can all contribute to different
meanings and interpretations of poetry, which can all be seen in Heaney s work,
especially Death of a Naturalist , Follower , From the Frontier of Writing , and
Personal Helicon .
Death of a Naturalist tells the story of a young child who, every spring, collects
bucketfuls of frogspawn to take home and admire. They loved to watch the
frogspawn grow and develop into tadpoles, and to learn about the frogs with
different facts. The run on sentences indicate the age of the speaker as a child, as
well as learning frog facts from a teacher. In the poem, the child removes the baby
frogs from their natural habitat and takes them to his home and school, where they
are studied. As the frogs grow older, the child doesn t recognize them anymore and is
frightened by this new, unusual sight, very different from the original frogspawn . In
essence, though, one can find the deeper meaning of the story. In the beginning, a
naive human removes still undeveloped creatures from their natural habitat, and uses
them for their own purposes. Then, as the creatures mature

1854, at 21 Westland Row in Dublin. His father was William Wilde and his mother
Jane Francesca Elgee. Wildes s parents were very successful, his father was one of
the best oculist surgeon of his time and also founded a hospital that treated eyes
and ears diseased that rapidly gave him fame and success. Wilde s mother
Francesca was considered a child prodigy that spoke French and Italian fluently
and from a young age of twenty she had translated a novel from German called

under pseudonyms. (Donald 14) Wilde during his whole life was very proud of his

The Freedom Of Travelling On Horseback
To Arthur there was nothing like the freedom of travelling on horseback. The few
times when he sat in the car and watched Merlin steer their way across the
countryside along the roads it felt unsatisfying to him. The world passed by the
windows too fast for Arthur to take in his new surroundings. He needed to feel the
elements around him, like the sun on his face or the wind blowing into his hair as
it did today. Here in the wide open air it smelled like humid soil, grass and flowers.
That was far better to him then the confined feel and the awful smell of the car. Not
to mention that he still did not trust the machine. It had the power to kill as far as
he was concerned, and it put the fear in him. For some reason he could not get
passed the image of how close he came losing Gwaine to one... Arthur steered his
horse through known territory as fast as he dared. The thrilling gallop made him
feel alive again. In the last few hours he had felt more like his old self than ever
since he came to this century. This century... it still stunned him that so much time
had passed in a matter of what felt like days to him. The way Camelot got snapped
away from him in a blip of time made him feel as if part of his heart was ripped out.
For his entire life he had known nothing else than it. He fought for his people and
protected it with every fibre of his being. To be left without such a cause and without
the love of his people, including his friends, was just too much to bear at times.
The Trouble With Wilderness By Norton 533
William Cronon, The Trouble with Wilderness Norton 533
William Cronon s work on environmental philosophy The Trouble with Wilderness is
most perceptive work ever produced. It has thoughtful impacts for everyone who
revolves around the discussion of the environment.
The Cronon argues that individuals have to change the way of our thinking about
wilderness. Cronon s article Getting back to wrong nature or the trouble with
wilderness describes that the wilderness, as individuals see, has no direct relativity to
nature. He is of the opinion that people have excluded nature from their Western
Culture. The main idea of Cronon s text is that people can find a solution of their
environmental disturbance if they stop thinking of wilderness as a dualistic picture in
which the human is completely outside the nature (Cronon). The concept of
wilderness in people s mind was of an aggressive and horrifying desert.
The author argues the issues and troubles with wilderness by using the frontier and
sublime thoughts. The author argues that there are two primary thoughts that explain
this evolution: the sublime and the frontier. The sublime is about the idealistic origin
of a wonderful site that stimulates the inner reflexes. In his article, he wrote about
sublime landscape. In his opiniom, it is a place where one might meet devils and run
the risk of losing one s soul, but one might also meet God . This religious thought of
wilderness was an embryonic thought (Cronon).

Marketing starts with the consumers and ends with the consumer. Satisfaction of the
consumers becomes the most important goal of a business enterprise.
The effort to ensure consumer satisfaction lies in understanding the consumer, his

An analysis of the consumer s Behavior in terms of consumer consumption patterns,
consumer preferences, consumer motivation, consumer buying process and shopping

The Level Of Concentration Is High
With my research I found that the level of concentration is high enough to suggest
that some markets within the construction industry can be considered oligopolistic. It
is important to remember that the market structure is only one characteristic of
various factors which affects the performance of firms concerned. My research found
that within the Materials and components grouping 13/24 markets are oligopolistic. 2
/9 is oligopolistic within the Professional consultancy, 2/11 within Plant and
equipment and 6/10 in the Energy and supplies group. This helps me to conclude my
thoughts in that the level of concentration is high enough to suggest that some
markets within the construction industry can be considered oligopolistic.
Commercial confidentiality has been a factor in my research as it has prevented me
from gaining full access and data required to fully investigate the matter at hand.
Therefore some information for certain groupings has been withheld to prevent
commercially sensitive data collected by the ONS to be made available to
competitors. When this occurs, it is usually a taken as the market being fairly
concentrated. There are some obvious irregularities such as Agriculture which is
listed as not available regardless of the fact that it is included within the list of 10
least concentrated sectors. Within the Materials and components group, concrete and
stone products are seen to be the largest single sector which is supplying materials to
construction.
Summary Of The Play She Stoops To Conquer
When it comes to the play She Stoops to Conquer, language defines a performance.
The writing for the play is complex and blatantly details the time in which it was
written in. She Stoops was first performed in London, England in 1773 and is a
satirical comedy that is still performed and analyzed today such as with the
production of the show by Saint Mary s University of Minnesota s Department of
Theatreand Dance.
The plot starts with the wealthy Mr. Hardcastle arranging his daughter Kate to
marry his friends, Mr. Marlow, son Charles. Charles on the other hand, prefers
lower class women, compared to wealthy women who intimidate him. Being lead
to believe by Mr. Hardcastle s son, Tony, that the Hardcastle Estate is an inn, begins
to treat Mr. Hardcastle as a landlord by barking orders and dismissing him.
Meanwhile during Charles and Kate s first meeting, Charles never looks at her
and scarcely speaks ending with Charles dismissing himself prematurely. Kate,
however, is not dismayed and wants to talk to him again in hopes he will be more
courageous. During another encounter Kate is in her plain clothing and is mistaken
by Charles to be a barmaid and begins to flirt with her. Kate invents a plan to act as
a barmaid in order to get to know him better. While this is happening, Constance,
Tony s cousin and arranged wife by Mrs. Hardcastle, reunites with her love interest,
Hastings. But she can not leave with him without her jewels which are being held by
Mrs. Hardcastle. Tony
The City Of Branson s Fiscal Year Runs
Budget Process Goals
The City of Branson s fiscal year runs January 1 through December 31. Typically, the
budget preparation process begins in mid July when budget documents and
instructions are distributed by the Finance Department to the each city department.
The various departments have approximately three weeks to assess any budget goals,
capital and personnel requests, and to complete projections for the current fiscal year.
By mid August, the Finance Department completes a preliminary review of the
departments budget, personnel and capital requests. The City Administrator then
meets with the Finance Director to review any requests, and schedules one on one
meetings with each department head.
As the first organization in Missouri to implement Priority Based Budgeting, prior to
their administrative review each department head is encouraged to perform a review
of programs offered by their department and to establish what programs are not
meeting the results identified by the board. The purpose of this process is to allow
for reallocation of resources to programs that are determined to need more funding, in
place of simply incrementally increasing the departmental line item budget. Aside
from simply eliminating the programs that are not achieving desired results, the
directors are encouraged to develop solutions to how the identified programs may
perform more efficiently. Examples include identifying programs that may be:

Camping Tent Disadvantages
The availability of secure campsites close to major cities is increasingly attracting
families wishing to take a camping tent vacation without heading out to the jungle.
For someone who has never been out camping, the toughest question is where to
experience their first camping tent trip. Starting off in low risk well supplied areas
not too far from home is usually the safest option. Increasing gasoline and airlines
charges are squeezing families struggling to make it through the tough economic
times and forcing them to embrace campingtentalternatives. With high quality
family tents retailing at under $200, a whole family of up to 6 people can enjoy a
camping tent extended weekend for under $100 close to urban centers. What are
some of things a first time camper needs to know in choosing their first tent?
Type and Size
With many types of tents available, choosing the right one can be mind boggling. If
you are looking for a tent to use for many years and do not plan on going camping
in winter, then a three season tent is all you need. Dome family tents are preferable
because they have more space and headroom.
When it comes to deciding the size, if you are not going backpacking in the
wilderness where the weight of the tent is a major consideration, always go for a tent
that will take more people than the quoted size. Manufacturers usually overstate the
amount of people that can comfortably sleep in a tent. The rule of thumb is to select
a tent that will sleep 1 2 people

Mayan Ruins
Ever wondered how breathtaking the ancient ruins of Chichen Itza is? This site,
laden with structures dating so many years back is a place that should be visited by
anyone who has a keen interest in ancient civilization.A description of the structures
here will reveal that the owners of the site were not only gifted but may have been
influenced by their beliefs in the divine.
Background
The Chichen Itza ruins a vast archeological site with buildings constructed in a way
that excites not only the eyes but also leaves a visitor feeling greatly amazed and
wanting to be in whichever way associated with the civilization that made the artistic
constructions.Located in Mexico at the Yucatan state, the ruins are believed to have
belonged to the Mayan people who were brilliant as seen by the complex symmetrical
structures that they left behind after the fall of their Kingdom. The name Chichen

is drawn from the large cenote which also served as a fresh water source these

The Advantageous Of Petrodollar And Islamic Finance...
3.7.The advantageous of Petrodollar to Islamic Finance
Petrodollar flows have been among the major factors supporting the growth of the
Islamic finance industry ever since the 1960s GIFF (2010). The rising petrodollar
flows in global markets imply continued and increasing petrodollar investments in the
Islamic finance sector. This has led to a surge of interest in the Islamic Finance sector,
with more and more countries positioning themselves as strategic locations to tap into
part of this abundant pool of funds. For instance, a number of countries worldwide
have announced their plans to issue Sukuk (Islamic bonds) and thus meet their
financing needs by attracting high net worth investors (HNWIs) and wealth from the
Middle East region. HNWIs are particularly on the look out for efficient and secure
jurisdictions for investing their funds, more so in the context of the present economic
downturn . Operating in a facilitative business environment and reducing cost of
operations are deemed instrumental factors for market players. Accordingly, a
number of jurisdictions have actively encouraged the development of their Islamic
capital markets as a key strategy for attracting both HNWIs and Islamic finance
businesses . In particular, it has been observed that jurisdictions from across the
world are developing their Islamic capital markets by utilising the efficiency provided
by Offshore Financial Centres (OFCs) to structure Shari ah compliant products which

Assess The Importance Of Phonemic Awareness
The workbooks that you use for the letter and sounds shows the phonemic awareness.
Phonemic awareness means the workbook should help your child in the learning and
being able to understand the sound of the letters that help to form words and segment
the letters in the words. Phonological awareness helps in the decoding and the child s
spelling abilities which will help in later readingand spelling. (Diane M Barone
/Marla H. Mallette, 2013). An example is a child that has phonemic awareness will
identify rhyming words in the workbook. Children can build phonemic awareness by
practicing the sounds. I like to sing an ABC rap it does the letter, sound, and a word
that starts with that sound. Making sure to have the right workbook the child can...

Children that are exposed to different types of print and books are better readers
and writers than those that have not been exposed to print and books. There
should be a lot of reading material in the child s environment, home and school.
Exposing your child to bookstores and libraries at an early age will foster the child
s interest in literature. Another way early childhood literacy can be formed is
giving your child support and encouragement for your child s progress in literacy. A
caregiver can help increase a child s literacy by reading storybooks to the child,
getting the child involved in activities that help them in reading and writing and
applying them. This is done by providing learning opportunities so the child can use
what they have learnt and making sure there is the right print materials. Having the
caregivers model literacy activities with the children enhances the child s literacy
and helps them to want to be engaged in it. (Strickland, D. S., Riley Ayers, S.
(2006, April). When a child grows up in a place where an adult shows the child
literacy behavior they will want to do the same behavior. This can be writing a letter,
reading or just writing a shopping
The Fungal Cell Wall And Its Effects On The Environment
CHAPTER1 INTRODUCTION
1.0______
The fungal cell wall plays an important role in the physiological adaptation of the
organism in its environment. The yeast s cell wall serves several essential functions
for the such as the ability to hold its shape, the regulation of water flow into and out
of the cell, and the prevention of foreign bodies that might be toxic from entering.1 It
constantly changes during cell division, growth and morphogenesis; this dynamic
feature dictates the organism s protection or susceptibility to the environment.2,3,4,5
A true fungal cell wall consists of three main components; lipids, proteins and
carbohydrates (glucan, mannan and chitin).3,6,7 The content of the cell wall varies
depending upon the type of fungal species. Schizosaccharomyces pombe is one
fungal species which lacks chitin in its cell wall. The pathogenic (disease causing)
fungus Candida albicans and the saprophytic (feed on dead plant and animal remains)
fungus Saccharomyces cerevisiae each contain glucan, mannan and a very small
amount of chitin.8 A pictorial representation of mannoproteins (outermost layer), ОІ
glucans, ОІ glucans+chitin, and a plasma membrane that contains lipids is depicted
in Figure 1.1. Figure 1.1 Typical structure of a yeastcell wall.9
The Greene research group is primarily concerned with developing effective and
milder procedures for isolating ОІ glucan and mannan from the cell wall of fungal
species for structural and physicochemical characterization. This
The Dark Knight Adaptations
Introduction: In 2005 Christopher Nolan spearheaded the commercial re boot of the
Batman franchise with the movie Batman Begins, the movie achieved wide critical
acclaim, and, subsequently generated, talk of a sequel. In the summer of 2008, after
a vast amount of advertising and viral marketing, the highly anticipated sequel was
finally released. The filmThe Dark Knight grossed almost $67,165,092 in its first
day and went on to break countless box office records. Later the next year the film
won 2 Oscars and was nominated for a further 6, one award won was the Best

The number of movies adapted from comic books has, in recent years, become
more and more popular, and more comic book films are being released now than in
the past. In this essay I will explore the reasons why this pattern has emerged and
potential reasons for the prevalence of comic book adaptations in post 9/11 cinema .
The Dark Knight: Throughout The Dark Knight the terrorist attacks of 9/11 are
continuously mirrored; terrorism as an overall theme is also reflected throughout
the movie, Phillip French of the Guardian newspaper states that The Dark Knight
shows us a post 9/11 Manichaean view of the world . Even within the initial
marketing of the film and in the various viral campaigns employed, we see
reflections of the 9/11 attacks on New York. In one of the main advertising posters
for the movie we see the protagonist Batman standing in the fore ground of the
picture, in front of a huge sky scraping building, not unfamiliar to one of the Twin
Towers, the top of the building is ablaze, with; brick, ash and various pieces of
shrapnel falling to the ground. With this powerful image we, before we have even
seen the movie, receive flashbacks of the tragic events of 9/11. The poster as well
as promoting Batman, makes us subconsciously, maybe naively, want to see the
movie as it is related to the horrible attacks on New York. Again in relation to the 9
/11 attacks, people may want to watch the film to see how terrorism is portrayed in
the movie,
Comparing Superman, Beowulf, And Sesame Street
Superman, Beowulf, The Kardashian s, and Sesame Street. What do these four have
in common? They have all chosen values for their society. These diverse groups of
people have collectively created an ideal image for society to live by. Superman
stands for justice by defeating a villain and also demonstrates the importance of
masculinity by saving a beautiful women. However, unlike Superman, the Kardashian
s show society how to be picture perfect, successful, and flawless. Sesame Street
pushes the ideas of being involved in school and your community. By implanting a
multitude of dissimilar characteristics and values into a child s life, it may be hard
for them to evaluate their own values. The question is: Is exposure to a massive
array of public figures damaging a child s personal goals and self identity? The
answer is yes. However, not all of those disrupting social values are unfavorable.
Focusing on the masculine side of societal values, modern day superheroes reinforce
the idea of toughness... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The famous tv show Keeping Up With The Kardashians, has a target audience for
teenage girls. Although the hit reality show is meant to show an upper class

detrimental to a person s health by convincing them they have to look a certain

They have set a standard for what an ideal women should be, which eventually
drains self esteem from younger girls who appear different from them (The

way a girl thinks about herself and others. Another large problem is that there a

Plato s The Crito Essay
Plato s The Crito
In life, people are guided by moral beliefs and principles. Whether their beliefs are
good or bad, their decisions are based on them. In Plato The Crito , Socrates
emphasizes his moral beliefs and principles when he decides not to escape from
prison. Although Socrates had the opportunity to escape his death sentence, he
chose not to do so because he had a moral obligation to commit a sacrifice. Socrates
was being guided by his moral beliefs when he decided not to escape from prison.
Socrates informs us of his principle when he says, [...] my first principle, that neither

His statement clarifies his reasons for not escaping death. Therefore, Socrates was
not clearly right in escaping and would have violated his principles. Socrates did
not want to break any of his principles because he reasoned to think that his moral
beliefs were more important than his family. Socrates in his dialogue says, Think
not of life and children first, and of justice afterwards, but of justice first. (1). His
idea seems callous towards his personal relationships in life. However, Socrate s
friend, Crito, pursues him when he says, But you are choosing the easier part, as I=2
0think, not the better and manlier. (1). Socrates is given this statement by his friend
in order to pursue him to change his mind to escape. However, Socrates insists in
following good principles according to his wisdom. His friend was now just
understanding why Socrates decided to stay in prison rather than escaping his
wrongful death sentence.
Socrates motives for not escaping could also be understood by his principles. His
principle says, And a good life is equivalent to a just and honorable one. (1).
Socrates believes and lives by doing well to himself and other people. Even though
staying in prison would cause him physical damage, he is willing to sacrifice his
body in order to save his soul. Because of his belief in living an honorable life,
Socrates reasons to stay in prison rather than escaping.
Pros And Cons Of International Family Planning
Before reading chapter 8 I had no idea what international family planning really
was, and I have a feeling I m not the only one who didn t. I believe that if most
people knew what internationally family planning was and what it really meant then
then there would be a lot more people angry with the decision to stop all funding to
UNFPA. This organization does so much for everyone around the world like, advises
governments on family planning, reducing poverty, reproductive health, and many
other ways. The United States apparently stopped funding this program because it
supposedly supports or participates in the management of a program of coercive
abortion or involuntary sterilization . The UNFPA actually posted a statement on
their official website denying the claim and stating that all of its work promotes the
human rightsof individuals and couples to make their own decisions, free of
coercion or discrimination . I don t think people or even the president knows how
negative of an impact denying future funds to the UNFPA is going to effect the
world. I believe that if our president Donald Trump had taken the time to learn about
UNFPA and what they stand for then maybe he wouldn t have stopped all funding.
This decision has made not only the women within the United States feel like they
don t have a say in their reproductive rightsbut, it also makes it look like we don t
care about the reproductive rights of any woman in any nation. The United States not

Bone Injury Paper
There are 206 bones in the human body. Broken and fractured bones are one of the
most common injuries, about 6 million people in the US will break a bone each
year. And out of these 300,000 people will have a serious injury that will require
different methods to heal. There are a variety ways of bone tissue repairing but most
of them are not long term and can cause other complications. There are different
stages for bonerepair. The first step is the formation of hematoma at the break, then
the formation of a fibrocartilaginous callus, the third step is the formation of a bony
callus, and finally remodeling and addition of compact bone. In the early stages, a
hematoma develops within the fracture location during the first few hours and days....

The Sexuality Of The Nude Body By Kenneth Clark
Throughout history, the nude body has always been romanticised compared to
that of the naked one. Features associated with sexuality and power are
emphasised, especially male characteristics. This may be to represent male
dominance of the two genders, something often reinforced through the years. To be
naked; as Kenneth Clark states in his 1956 reading The Nude: A Study in Ideal
Form , is to be deprived of our clothes (Clark, 1956: p1) , often implying
embarrassment and humiliation felt by those in that condition. However, to be
nude is quite different as it carries no uncomfortable overtone. (Clark, 1956: p1)
The word does not have the awkward connotations, instead it suggests confidence
and prosperity. The naked body is seen as an object upon which the eye dwells
with pleasure (Clark, 1956: p3) this however, is untrue. The naked body features
wrinkles, blemishes and other flaws which are often scorned and found repulsive.
Clark suggests when painting/photographing a naked body, we do not wish to
imitate; we wish to perfect. (Clark, 1956: p4) . The result of this, is the nude body
a perfected, retouched figure. This figure is a depiction of what the artist believed
the body should look like, and so they have posed and altered them in such a way as
to conform to these ideas. Clark indicates, when the viewer critiques an unaltered
body, recognising weight, height, proportions, etc. we are admitting...the existence of
ideal beauty (Clark, 1956: p10). It
Concussion Issues In Concussions
In another report, Charlie Garner, a former running back, talks about how he is
scared that he may have the brain disease CTE. In the reports it says that, [He] can t
go remember things. Garner also states that he has to bring his children with him to
remember where he had parked (Becker). Players would not know if he had the brain
disease because the disease can not be detected until the death of that person.
Garner says he only suffered from a handful of diagnosed concussions, when
looking back as his NFL career and talking to a concussion expert. He now believes
that he has had at least a dozen concussions every season for his eleven season career
(Becker). Some concussions are undetectable because most playersplay through them
and do not show the common symptoms of a concussions. Concussions stories can
be told in many different ways, like articles and movies. In a recent movie named
Concussion , a doctor studied NFL players brains to see if they had the brain
disease CTE, and how it makes players suicidal. In the beginning of the movie it
showed how a previous player in the NFL was dealing with the brain disease and
later killed himself. Throughout the movie it showed how the doctor did his study
on the brain and wanted to make the news public. He then went through various
trials against the NFL and other lawyers, because the lawyers did not want the
information he was presenting to be made public. He was also going up against the
lawyers to prove his point in
Giving Is The Best Communication Rhetorical Analysis
In the ad called, Giving is the Best Communication , there was a significant message
about giving help to others in need and have a good heart. This message from the
phone company, True Move H , affects the audience by having individuals consider
on communicating with a positive approach of giving assistance to people living with
struggles. Throughout the video, it tends to show appeals to emotion by beginning
the story full of pity, and companionship, with an ending of expressing gratitude. The
company tends to sell an idea to the audience instead of selling the product itself.
Giving is the Best Communication contributes to use the strategies of pathos in the
story to please the audience on using kindness. For example, in the beginning ... Show

The well known shopkeeper represents the company by having to give their
customers the best service they can with nothing in return. As the nobleman play
roles the phone company, they want to inform their customers that no matter what
help is always giving. Another metaphorical way that is applied in the actors is the
doctor role playing as the loyal customers. In the video, the doctor repays the kind
shopkeeper by paying the medical bill 30 years ago for the time of giving him the
three pack of painkillers and one veggie soup. The actor represents as the
customers are able to give back to the company for their loyalty of paying phone
bills on time or keep a close relationship with the company. Since the doctor has paid
the medical bill 30 years ago, this also falls back on customers who have stayed with
the phone company for more than one year. Lastly, as we mention two metaphors in
the actors, an object such as the medical bill can represent the phone company s
monthly payment. This informs the customers that when purchasing a phone, there
are monthly payments for a leasing service which must be paid occasionally and to
also keep track within the contract. These metaphors are included in the video to
advertise True Move H being one trustworthy company to their

Some situations are just much worse than others. These tragic memories stick with the person for their lifetime. Victor Joseph in the movie Smoke Signals is a great example of a man with a very dour childhood that includes many hardships. Victor Joseph s journey in Smoke Signals highlights the universal theme on fear of one s past. Firstly, the way Smoke Signals brings this theme alive throughout Victors Joseph s journey. In the beginning, the movie displays the chaos of the house fire that happened. This is the start of the disturbing memories victor has to deal with as a child. He also then has to deal with his dad slapping his mother who then storms out of their lives for no reason. Victor Joseph then grows up with these memories and questions and starts to fear knowing anything about it. He and his mother become dolorous about the whole situation and ignore it until they get to know that Arnold Joseph is dead. This moment brings back old memories of his father and how Smoke Signals creates the flashbacks of his old times with his father. Smoke Signals also introduces Suzy Song who helps us get to know Victor Josephs relationship with his father, but Victor keeps hiding and putting lots of blame onto his ... Sometimes condoning the issue can help one feel free and stable. Fearing one s own past is something that should be avoided. This is a universal theme for the reason that all people have to deal with disturbing memories to some

He also uses plot to guide the readers though the story, this helps the reader recognize Hemingway s main idea. He emphasizes on despair, loneliness, and isolation as major themes in his short story. Each theme connects to each other to create a bigger picture. Isolation is the act of being separated from other humans which causes the emotions of loneliness and despair. As the reader knows, the old man is deaf, this may be important as symbolically Hemingway may be suggesting that the old man is disconnected from others which would further emphasis the idea of loneliness (McManus). This isolates the old man by creating distance from him and others. The use of light in the story symbolizes an escape from darkness. The old man and older waiter are reluctant to go home because the clean and well lit cafГ© makes them feel comfortable. They both long for a clean and well lit place to help make the darkness barrable. Leo Gurko states that men need an enclave of light in order to maintain themselves against the darkness (186). The light in the cafГ© is also an escape from the darkness and despair that causes the old man to sit in the shadow of death. Luke 1:79 encourages to give light to them that sit in darkness and in the shadow of death as stated in the King James Bible. This verse appropriately represents the need of light in a person who has given up on

  • 5. Model of Justice in Plato s The Republic Essay Model of Justice in Plato s The Republic In what is perhaps his most well known text, The Republic, Plato explores the fundamental concept of justice, how it is observed in the world, and its application to the lives of men. When he identifies the good in Book VI, which is reality and knowledge in their true forms, Plato also describes the visual world of shadows and false reality that people perceive and is cast by the sun. What follows from these definitions is that, while justice is a concept that exists autonomously from injustice and other fleeting conditions, injustice requires justice to be a medium for it to exist, develop, and spread itself. While it might be intuitive to a person that there is a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Though the whole of The Republic is an investigation of what justice is, the relationship between it and justice is derived from the virtue of sophrosyne. This quality of moderation and balance in a person is what Plato considers essential to the just man. He explains, The reality is that justice is not a matter of external behavior but the way a man privately and truly governs his inner self. The just man does not permit the various parts of his soul to interfere with one another or usurp each other s functions. He has set his own life in order. (Plato, 137) That which is good withstands external pressures so that its essential quality is unchanged. Similarly, the just man is identified not by that which we visually observe about him, but the integrity of his internal composure. We have determined, therefore, that it is what is good about the just man that makes him just. Having established this point about the just person, it is sensible to consider the conditions under which a person becomes unjust. The development of injustice in the individual occurs when we do not have the internal balance that is indicative of a just person, but rather are excessive in some aspect of our psychology. Our psychology is based on three aspects of the soul which determine how a person will think and behave. Plato explains, ...[T]he soul is composed of at least two distinct parts. The treatment of anorexia nervosa involves mainly medical and psychological interventions, and new treatments are being researched every day. Re feeding is known to be the cornerstone, initial treatment. However, the specifics of treatment are not currently defined. Most therapeutic programs resort to a multidisciplinary treatment approach based off of clinical judgment and expertise. The main character in Walker s The Color Purpleis Celie, a black woman who is treated very poorly by the men surrounding her. In her early years she is abused and raped by her stepfather, Alfonso, who she has two babies from. It shows already at the beginning of the novel that there is a mixture of parent lover, parent children roles, which can prevent Celie s rise and also noting their similar history will be a barrier in Precious s life as well. Throughout the novel the strong relationships she builds with the other female characters around her have the greatest impact on Celie s life. This sisterhood gives her the strength to liberate herself from the oppression created by men. The most important out of these relationships could be the one she has with her little sister, Nettie. Most of the calls I made were either rejected or did not even go through, with the occasional hostile receiver, but there were volunteers who volunteered every day of the week for full shifts, which would be around eight hours. They probably had more than the occasional disgruntled receiver wanting to be removed from the calling list or anti Jane person. I always just assumed that there were computers or machines doing all the hard labor of the campaigning processes, but there are actually real people working and fighting for these campaigns. They do all the paperwork, reaching out, and canvassing. They spend months and hours fighting for this cause or person, so when they aren t successful, it is tough. I barely worked for more than half the time that most of the volunteers worked for, and even I was disappointed with the results of the election. I never really followed the elections before this project and my American Democracy class, but I m definitely determined to start because of this. I ve actually grown an interest in politics and would like to be a part of it in the future, either through

  • 11. Review Of Twelve Steps To A Compassionate Life By Karen... Compassion means to endure with other person, to put ourselves in somebody s else shoes. It is a feeling of empathy, which in other words is to feel someone s pain as though if it were our own. The book Twelve Steps to a Compassionate Life by Karen Armstrong, discusses a set of different steps people should follow in order to be compassionate. Armstrong emphasizes in the importance of compassion in the world. The world is surrounded with problems that we do not know how to solve and by being compassionate to one another we can create a compassionate and peaceful world. Every person in this earth has the possibility to be compassionate to others and this includes treating each other a they wish to be treated, which in most cases is with dignity,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As stated before, some of the steps to take into consideration are steps one and three, which are to learn more about compassion and to have compassion for ourselves. Nevertheless, step seven, how little we know is another of the crucial steps to create a change in our value system. This step consists of understanding that we are not always right. There are a lot of problems that need to be solved in our lives therefore we must examine our ideas by understanding how little we know. It is a good and important beginning because people are able to listen to one another. Thinking e know it all only blocks our knowledge and immediately pushes us backwards. Thinking we know more than other people only creates a feeling of superiority. Giving people the opportunity to speak their thought while listening to them, leads to respect for others and respect for ourselves, which is a wonderful opportunity. Armstrong refers to this step as a step that helps people to become wiser. For instance, Armstrong said that a person might think they know something when they don t, and someone that does not know it or even think they know it have a higher possibility of becoming wiser (p. 99). They are more likely to become wiser because they are open minded where as the other person is blocking all the other ideas because he thinks he is superior to

The local decision range depends on the number of neighbors. While the neighbor density is low, the range is enlarged in order to find more neighbors, otherwise the range is reduced. He knew there was a right way, and also a wrong way, morally, and that he had no other option. For other industrialists in Schindler s position, it wasn t as easy a choice. During the Third Reich, German industrialists had a moral decision to make: whether to cooperate with the Nazis and profit from the persecution of Jews, or to resist and risk their lives and fortune. The Nazis created laws in order to persecute Jews, which contributed to the industrialists decisions. In 1939, Jews were made to wear identifying stars, and they were forced to live together in isolated ghettos. In the next few years, more laws were passed inflicting pain and cruelty upon Jews. Then, the Nazis moved beyond persecution, and threatened Jewish people s jobs and economic stability. First, Jews had to register their property, and then, their privately owned businesses were sold to non Jewish German industrialists at a very low price. When their companies were sold, all of their managers and employees were kicked out. Later, once Jews were forced to work in non Jewish Germans factories, a rule was passed in the spring of 1940, declaring that the wages of all the Jewish workers went directly to the SS, instead of the actual workers. Soon after, everyone except for work essential Jews had to leave the city, causing every Jew to desperately try to find
  • 20. Analysis Of Death Of A Naturalist By Seamus Heaney The term poetry calls to mind stanzas full of airy, half sensical lines of perfect rhymes about love, but there is so much more than that if one chooses to look a little deeper. The poetry of Seamus Heaney, in fact, contains multiple meanings with a closer study, giving a more in depth experience with a greater knowledge of the poem s purpose. Words, phrases, rhymescheme, and structure can all contribute to different meanings and interpretations of poetry, which can all be seen in Heaney s work, especially Death of a Naturalist , Follower , From the Frontier of Writing , and Personal Helicon . Death of a Naturalist tells the story of a young child who, every spring, collects bucketfuls of frogspawn to take home and admire. They loved to watch the frogspawn grow and develop into tadpoles, and to learn about the frogs with different facts. The run on sentences indicate the age of the speaker as a child, as well as learning frog facts from a teacher. In the poem, the child removes the baby frogs from their natural habitat and takes them to his home and school, where they are studied. As the frogs grow older, the child doesn t recognize them anymore and is frightened by this new, unusual sight, very different from the original frogspawn . In essence, though, one can find the deeper meaning of the story. In the beginning, a naive human removes still undeveloped creatures from their natural habitat, and uses them for their own purposes. Then, as the creatures mature

The few times when he sat in the car and watched Merlin steer their way across the countryside along the roads it felt unsatisfying to him. The world passed by the windows too fast for Arthur to take in his new surroundings. He needed to feel the elements around him, like the sun on his face or the wind blowing into his hair as it did today. Here in the wide open air it smelled like humid soil, grass and flowers. That was far better to him then the confined feel and the awful smell of the car. Not to mention that he still did not trust the machine. It had the power to kill as far as he was concerned, and it put the fear in him. For some reason he could not get passed the image of how close he came losing Gwaine to one... Arthur steered his horse through known territory as fast as he dared. The thrilling gallop made him feel alive again. In the last few hours he had felt more like his old self than ever since he came to this century. This century... it still stunned him that so much time had passed in a matter of what felt like days to him. The way Camelot got snapped away from him in a blip of time made him feel as if part of his heart was ripped out. For his entire life he had known nothing else than it. He fought for his people and protected it with every fibre of his being. To be left without such a cause and without the love of his people, including his friends, was just too much to bear at times.

The Trouble With Wilderness By Norton 533 William Cronon, The Trouble with Wilderness Norton 533 William Cronon s work on environmental philosophy The Trouble with Wilderness is most perceptive work ever produced. It has thoughtful impacts for everyone who revolves around the discussion of the environment. The Cronon argues that individuals have to change the way of our thinking about wilderness. Cronon s article Getting back to wrong nature or the trouble with wilderness describes that the wilderness, as individuals see, has no direct relativity to nature. He is of the opinion that people have excluded nature from their Western Culture. The main idea of Cronon s text is that people can find a solution of their environmental disturbance if they stop thinking of wilderness as a dualistic picture in which the human is completely outside the nature (Cronon). The concept of wilderness in people s mind was of an aggressive and horrifying desert. The author argues the issues and troubles with wilderness by using the frontier and sublime thoughts. The author argues that there are two primary thoughts that explain this evolution: the sublime and the frontier. The sublime is about the idealistic origin of a wonderful site that stimulates the inner reflexes. In his article, he wrote about sublime landscape. In his opiniom, it is a place where one might meet devils and run the risk of losing one s soul, but one might also meet God . This religious thought of wilderness was an embryonic thought (Cronon). It is important to remember that the market structure is only one characteristic of various factors which affects the performance of firms concerned. My research found that within the Materials and components grouping 13/24 markets are oligopolistic. 2 /9 is oligopolistic within the Professional consultancy, 2/11 within Plant and equipment and 6/10 in the Energy and supplies group. This helps me to conclude my thoughts in that the level of concentration is high enough to suggest that some markets within the construction industry can be considered oligopolistic. Commercial confidentiality has been a factor in my research as it has prevented me from gaining full access and data required to fully investigate the matter at hand. Therefore some information for certain groupings has been withheld to prevent commercially sensitive data collected by the ONS to be made available to competitors. When this occurs, it is usually a taken as the market being fairly concentrated. There are some obvious irregularities such as Agriculture which is listed as not available regardless of the fact that it is included within the list of 10 least concentrated sectors. Within the Materials and components group, concrete and stone products are seen to be the largest single sector which is supplying materials to construction.

Typically, the budget preparation process begins in mid July when budget documents and instructions are distributed by the Finance Department to the each city department. The various departments have approximately three weeks to assess any budget goals, capital and personnel requests, and to complete projections for the current fiscal year. By mid August, the Finance Department completes a preliminary review of the departments budget, personnel and capital requests. The City Administrator then meets with the Finance Director to review any requests, and schedules one on one meetings with each department head. As the first organization in Missouri to implement Priority Based Budgeting, prior to their administrative review each department head is encouraged to perform a review of programs offered by their department and to establish what programs are not meeting the results identified by the board. The purpose of this process is to allow for reallocation of resources to programs that are determined to need more funding, in place of simply incrementally increasing the departmental line item budget. Aside from simply eliminating the programs that are not achieving desired results, the directors are encouraged to develop solutions to how the identified programs may perform more efficiently. The rising petrodollar flows in global markets imply continued and increasing petrodollar investments in the Islamic finance sector. This has led to a surge of interest in the Islamic Finance sector, with more and more countries positioning themselves as strategic locations to tap into part of this abundant pool of funds. For instance, a number of countries worldwide have announced their plans to issue Sukuk (Islamic bonds) and thus meet their financing needs by attracting high net worth investors (HNWIs) and wealth from the Middle East region. HNWIs are particularly on the look out for efficient and secure jurisdictions for investing their funds, more so in the context of the present economic downturn . Phonological awareness helps in the decoding and the child s spelling abilities which will help in later readingand spelling. (Diane M Barone /Marla H. Mallette, 2013). Children that are exposed to different types of print and books are better readers and writers than those that have not been exposed to print and books. There should be a lot of reading material in the child s environment, home and school. Exposing your child to bookstores and libraries at an early age will foster the child s interest in literature. Another way early childhood literacy can be formed is giving your child support and encouragement for your child s progress in literacy. A caregiver can help increase a child s literacy by reading storybooks to the child, getting the child involved in activities that help them in reading and writing and applying them. This is done by providing learning opportunities so the child can use what they have learnt and making sure there is the right print materials. Having the caregivers model literacy activities with the children enhances the child s literacy and helps them to want to be engaged in it. (Strickland, D. S., Riley Ayers, S. (2006, April). The Fungal Cell Wall And Its Effects On The Environment CHAPTER1 INTRODUCTION 1.0______ The fungal cell wall plays an important role in the physiological adaptation of the organism in its environment. The yeast s cell wall serves several essential functions for the such as the ability to hold its shape, the regulation of water flow into and out of the cell, and the prevention of foreign bodies that might be toxic from entering.1 It constantly changes during cell division, growth and morphogenesis; this dynamic feature dictates the organism s protection or susceptibility to the environment.2,3,4,5 A true fungal cell wall consists of three main components; lipids, proteins and carbohydrates (glucan, mannan and chitin).3,6,7 The content of the cell wall varies depending upon the type of fungal species. Schizosaccharomyces pombe is one fungal species which lacks chitin in its cell wall. The pathogenic (disease causing) fungus Candida albicans and the saprophytic (feed on dead plant and animal remains) fungus Saccharomyces cerevisiae each contain glucan, mannan and a very small amount of chitin.8 A pictorial representation of mannoproteins (outermost layer), ОІ glucans, ОІ glucans+chitin, and a plasma membrane that contains lipids is depicted in Figure 1.1. Figure 1.1 Typical structure of a yeastcell wall.9 The Greene research group is primarily concerned with developing effective and milder procedures for isolating ОІ glucan and mannan from the cell wall of fungal species for structural and physicochemical characterization. The number of movies adapted from comic books has, in recent years, become more and more popular, and more comic book films are being released now than in the past. In this essay I will explore the reasons why this pattern has emerged and potential reasons for the prevalence of comic book adaptations in post 9/11 cinema . The Dark Knight: Throughout The Dark Knight the terrorist attacks of 9/11 are continuously mirrored; terrorism as an overall theme is also reflected throughout the movie, Phillip French of the Guardian newspaper states that The Dark Knight shows us a post 9/11 Manichaean view of the world . Even within the initial marketing of the film and in the various viral campaigns employed, we see reflections of the 9/11 attacks on New York. In one of the main advertising posters for the movie we see the protagonist Batman standing in the fore ground of the picture, in front of a huge sky scraping building, not unfamiliar to one of the Twin Towers, the top of the building is ablaze, with; brick, ash and various pieces of shrapnel falling to the ground. With this powerful image we, before we have even seen the movie, receive flashbacks of the tragic events of 9/11. The poster as well as promoting Batman, makes us subconsciously, maybe naively, want to see the movie as it is related to the horrible attacks on New York. Again in relation to the 9 /11 attacks, people may want to watch the film to see how terrorism is portrayed in the movie,

This organization does so much for everyone around the world like, advises governments on family planning, reducing poverty, reproductive health, and many other ways. The United States apparently stopped funding this program because it supposedly supports or participates in the management of a program of coercive abortion or involuntary sterilization . The UNFPA actually posted a statement on their official website denying the claim and stating that all of its work promotes the human rightsof individuals and couples to make their own decisions, free of coercion or discrimination . I don t think people or even the president knows how negative of an impact denying future funds to the UNFPA is going to effect the world. • 41. The Sexuality Of The Nude Body By Kenneth Clark Throughout history, the nude body has always been romanticised compared to that of the naked one. Features associated with sexuality and power are emphasised, especially male characteristics. This may be to represent male dominance of the two genders, something often reinforced through the years. To be naked; as Kenneth Clark states in his 1956 reading The Nude: A Study in Ideal Form , is to be deprived of our clothes (Clark, 1956: p1) , often implying embarrassment and humiliation felt by those in that condition. However, to be nude is quite different as it carries no uncomfortable overtone. (Clark, 1956: p1) The word does not have the awkward connotations, instead it suggests confidence and prosperity. The naked body is seen as an object upon which the eye dwells with pleasure (Clark, 1956: p3) this however, is untrue. The naked body features wrinkles, blemishes and other flaws which are often scorned and found repulsive. Clark suggests when painting/photographing a naked body, we do not wish to imitate; we wish to perfect. (Clark, 1956: p4) . The result of this, is the nude body a perfected, retouched figure. This figure is a depiction of what the artist believed the body should look like, and so they have posed and altered them in such a way as to conform to these ideas. Clark indicates, when the viewer critiques an unaltered body, recognising weight, height, proportions, etc. we are admitting...the existence of ideal beauty (Clark, 1956: p10). It
