2. Analysis Of Donald Trump And The Injustice Of The 43...
In this essay, I argue the government separating rather than bridging the United States.
The main points I show in my essay are the language being used by Donald Trump
and the injustice of the 43 missing students in Mexico. We should be concerned about
the government because it has gone corrupt letting people run for President such as
Donald Trumpthat is targeting minorities. In Mexiconot helping the parents solve the
case of their innocent children is a problem when the government should be doing
their job. This causes violence amongst people and the government when we should
leaning on them for support and protection. We should be concerned about the
government because it has gone corrupt letting people run for President such as

What has the government done to make communities and families improve? Why do
innocent people have die when the ones causing the corruption on people is the
government doing and sayings?
Literature Review In writing about my topic I read many articles from Goldman that
were about Donald Trump and the series of The 43 Missing Students. I read the
articles to help me understand more of the history of Donald Trump and the 43
missing students. The reading helped with my research because it answered my
question and it backed up my opinion. It helps address my thesis stamen because it
brings more main points and truth to my opinion.
Methodology
For this essay I conducted library research such as looking into Ebsco research
premier for articles on Donald Trump s current governmental campaign and the 43
missing student s unknown disappearance trying to make their community better. As
well, reading articles from Francisco Goldman in The New Yorker. Additionally,
interviewing a student to see their perspective of the government separating the
United States instead of bridging it.
Analysis
My research is important because it has to do with the well being of people and
bringing justice to innocent families with evidence showing the separating of the
United States. This is shown by how Donald Trump has caused people in his rallies
to fight It was the stench of overt racism, and of the
3. The Persian Empire Essay
THE PERSIAN EMPIRE Similar to the Roman Empire the Persian Empire
stretched across vast lands without any serious rivalry. At the height of the empire
it stretched across, not only, Asia, from the Aegean to the Indus River, but also
included part of the continent of Africa. We get the word, Persia, from the Greek
word Parsa meaning, Above reproach . The Persians unlike most other Empires
would be ruled under a benevolent ruler. This would bring a large amount of
cultural diffusion to the Empire. The empires history is separated into three
historical periods: Old Persia (600 300 B.C.E), Middle Persia (300 800 B.C.E.) and
modern Persia (800 Present). The height or the Empire was reached around 500

5. Contrasting Interactions with the Environment Depicted in...
How is our character revealed through our interaction with the natural world around
us? Do we adapt to fit in with nature, or do we force the landscape to conform to our
ideals of lifestyle? In the short story The Shining Houses , Alice Munro addresses the
contrast in lifestyle ideologies between two generations through their interactions
with the natural environmentthey populate. The older generation is content to live in
harmony with the existing natural world and develop its infrastructure amongst the
present landscape. Meanwhile, the younger generation believes in destroying the
original terrain by constructing a new environmentfitted to a theme of exoticism and
novelty. The observation of such interaction with the environment... Show more

Construction of the city consumes minimal resources because the assets already
present are conserved rather than destroyed. The houses themselves, although
unpainted and patched are simple but effective structures. This shows how rather than
dwelling on superfluous aesthetics, the older generation devotes itself to more
fruitful endeavors. For example, residences sport compost heaps. The
implementation of such devices preserves and recycles many resources, further
emphasizing the conservative ideology of the older generation. While their practical
lifestyle is compared to savagery by the younger generation, the city of the old
generation is really an example of their efficiency.
On the contrary, the lifestyle of the younger generation is one that embraces radical
alteration of the surrounding environment to match a visual image created by the
movers in. Young men, unfamiliar with manual labor, work hard to cut and burn the
bushes which surround their homes, in the hopes that in two years their yards may be
decorated by ornamental shrubs . Either they have very specific tastes in exotic
shrubbery or they have despicable planning skills. The fact that the men are young
professionals would suggest the former. Even so, they persist at their contradictory
task during the weekend. The fact that such weekends could be spent with family
would suggest that the priority the men
6. Television And Its Impact On The World War II
In 1926 John Logie Baird transmitted his first image with his new mechanical
television. As the 4 x2 image of his business partner illuminated his face, Baird was
completely unaware of the influence this new medium would have on the opinions
and attitudes of the people of the world. Television represented a new opportunity
to bring not only audio like radio but to place an image in every home. Along with
the work of many other inventors television was soon to become a viable medium
of entertainment and news but it did face many setbacks. At first television was a
novelty, completely overshadowed by the established medium of radio. Before
World War II very few homes contained a television and broadcasters mostly aired
15 minute segments and were limited in technology. Then on September 1, 1939
Hitler and Germany invaded Poland and the world plunged into World War II. The
FCC issued a ban on the construction of television equipment causing the growth of
television to stagnate. At the end of the war economic prosperity and a rising
middle class opened the door for a new rise in the purchase of goods. One such
good was the television. In 1947 only a few thousand homes owned a television. By
1950 six million homes contained a television, and in 1960 around 60 million homes
contained a television. During this period a new war was being waged: the Cold
War. In this battle between United Statesand the Soviet Union ideals propaganda was
the main way to grow support for their cause
7. To Kill A Mockingbird Urban Legends
Urban Legends
Legend says that if someone says the name Bloody Mary three times into a mirror,
that she will magically appear in the room and scratch their face off. Of course this
legend is not true, but people would tell this story and through fear, make others
believe that it was. Urban legends such as Bloody Mary date all the back to the 1930
s, around the same time where the book To Kill A Mockingbird by Harper Lee was
set. In the book, the people of Maycomb, Alabama use Boo Radley, a character in
the book who was sentenced to house arrest, as an urban legend. They spread rumors
about him and say many crazy things that people would not normally believe.
However, since the people are so scared of Boo Radley, they do. From the 1930 s...

In today s society, whenever there is something that people do not understand, they
create an urban legend to try and explain it, such as aliens or the Illuminati. Nobody
knows if these legends are true or not but most people believe it because it gives
people a sense of fulfillment to have an explanation for everything. In To Kill A
Mockingbird however, everything that could not be explained was pinned on Boo
Radley. The adults in Maycomb County refused to talk about Boo Radley so the
children made up rumors about him. They would say that Boo was about six and a
half feet tall, judging from his tracks; he dined on raw squirrels and any cats he
could catch, that s why his hands were bloodstained (Lee 13). The kids became
fixated on Boo Radley, mainly because the adults never spoke about him, so they
created all of these rumors about him and whenever anything crazy happened, it
always was somehow connected back to him. At the end of the book when Scout
meets Boo Radley in person, she finds out that none of the rumors she heard about
him were actually true and eventually tells Atticus that Boo was really nice. Atticus
replies by telling her that most people are, Scout, when you finally see them (Lee
376). Even though people use urban legends to explain things, that does not mean that
the legends are necessarily true. If people actually searched for the truth behind these
legends instead of falling back on
8. The Role Of Commercial Bank Operations Play Role On...
Introduction
Commercial Bank operations play crucial role in monetary policy transmission
mechanism. This has been studied extensively in the theoretical and empirical level.
After the ground breaking research study of Kashyap and Stein (2000), few research
have conduct to explore diversity in bank lending process as responses to monetary
policy changes . However these empirical works are purely related to credit channel
that studies how the bank lending behavior changes with the monetary policy. Since
the outburst of the financial crisis in 2007, policy debates have focused on how to
restore commercial banks operations. In particular, governments of developed
countries had conducted an extraordinary monetary easing and capital injections into
the banking system. Those policy initiatives were primarily focused at recovering the
functioning of the financial system and restoring commercial banks lending. Last
financial crisis episode shows inherent problem of asymmetric information faced by
the bank and how banks were penalized on their reaction to monetary policy.
Fundamentally, change in interest rates effect individual banks in different degree and
creates distributional effects across banking industry. The crisis demands analysis of
research question on the risk taking channel of monetary policy.
Literature Review
The role of the commercial banks in the transmission of monetary policy has been
studied in both the theoretical and prior empirical literature. These

(Mintel Sports Clothing, November 1998) Many of the trends that were obvious in
1995 have become more determined. Some of the most important between these are
the increasing influence of fashion over the youth market and the heightened
interest in active lifestyles. Whether they are actually participating or not, being
seen to be wearing active gear is highly desirable for the 15 24 year old age group.
An older market, people who are staying younger longer and leading more active
lifestyles, is also increasingly embracing outdoor sportswear. (Mintel Sports Clothing,
November 1998) Mintel estimates sales of sports clothing to be worth some ВЈ2
billion in 1998, although much of this is dependent on the youth market. As the
youth population (15 24 year olds) is forecast to increase by 3.5% by 2002, the
core market will be larger and sustainable growth will be easier to achieve. The
older generation is on the increase as the baby boom population bubble ages.
However, very little of the sportswear on offer from the leading manufacturers is
designed for older age groups or tastes. (Mintel Sports Clothing, November 1998) In
the sports market the leading brands are quite a lot. A big number of those leading
brands still dominate the sports clothing market. However, with the increasing
fashionability of sports clothing many traditional fashion labels are making inroads in
the sports leisurewear market. Particularly those that have strong labels

On the 25th of April 1915, the Anzac soldiers were involved in an attack on Gallipoli.
Although, the minor campaign turned out to be a costly failure, the event made a
huge impact on the Australian soldiers and women. The attack also contributed
greatly to the development of the Anzac Legend as the Australian men presented their
true Aussie culture to the world. The Australian soldiers faced extremely tough
conditions during their attack on Gallipoli. They were in constant danger, always
exposed to enemy fire whilst the Turks held high ground. They fought with lethal
weapons and were required to wear gas masks during battle with the constant fear of
poisonous gas. The soldiers physical conditions deteriorated rapidly throughout the
campaign. The stinking hot weather, unsanitary conditions and... Show more content

women were eager to comply as these traditionally male jobs received higher pay.
Many women also frequently volunteered to help the soldiers at war. They sewed

Due to its unique history, Japan has many customs and beliefs that differ from the
rest of the world. The Japanese are known to be very prideful yet, humble
individuals. Many of the Japan s traditions are very distinct and serve to represent the
country. Japanese culture is meant to depict respect for both themselves and other
people.
Perhaps one of the most interesting symbols of the Japan comes from the flag, the red
sun symbolizes the sun goddess Amaterasu, which is believed to be the ancestors of
the emperors and the imperial family. More specifically Mythological goddess of the
sun, Amaterasu from the Shinto religion. According to myth, the goddess founded
Japan approximately 2700 years ago and all the emperors of Japan are known as
Sons of the Sun , essentially direct descendants of the goddess herself. (Aung) this
is intriguing as Shinto is a religion that focuses on the belief that all people are
good and all the bad come from evil spirits. Even more captivating is that
historically, Japan has been a militaristic country engaging is some of the most
fearsome battles in history. Believing that the emperors and the imperial family are
descendants of a great deity must have bonded the citizens into feeling an intense
bond that cannot be found in any other way. Hand gestures are an important method
of communication and to foreign folk, Japanese hand gestures may seem perplexing.

greenhouse and into a gutter system that will be added so the water can make it
into the barrels and fill them up. All year round when it come to water there s water
from anything from snow, rain, frost, and mist. Some of the native plant that would

Mass Media and Its Influence Negative Influence on American Society
It is the power that shapes and molds the mind of virtually every citizen, young or

part of everyday life in America. News and events outside of one s home or

Children are easily swayed and influenced by the many images and pictures
presented to them through the media. By high school graduation, children will
have spent roughly 50 percent more time in front of a television than in front of a
teacher (Dudley, 1999, 32). Parents, often times, are too drained or pre occupied
with their own lives, leading their children to find comfort in watching television or
playing video games which, consequently, become the prime examples for their
actions and behaviors. For all too many Americans, the real world has been
replaced by the false reality of the TV... (Sweet Liberty, 2000, 2). These children
hear the news and watch shows and films where innocent people are being stolen
from or being killed, but they have nobody there to teach them the difference

An article printed in Time magazine, titled Suburban Smackdown, is a great
example of how the media persuades children to impersonate what they view on

children and young adults are putting on shows, costumes, masks and all, for their

Even though William the Conqueror descended from a line of Vikings who had
lived in France for over 200 years, William had more of an impact on the English
language than the majority of influential English born people of the time. The
French speaking Normans brought a whole new vocabulary to England, whose
language was closely related to German. (Barlow 8). He even introduced the
Norman legacy of building castles, including the Tower of London. Although he is
most well known for the Norman invasion of 1066 that overthrew the Anglo Saxon
reign which had lasted for over six centuries, William was a very religious man. He
was moral and righteous by the standards of the time, and devoted much of his time
to the Norman church. William was born in 1028 and was the only son of Duke
Robert I of Normandywho later died on a voyage to Jerusalem. After his father s
death in 1035, he was knighted at the age of fifteen and the Norman magnates

23. Describe How Several Ways Mineral Crystals Can Form
1.What is a mineral, as geologists understand the term? How is this definition
different from the everyday usage of the word?
To a geologist, a mineral is naturally occurring solid, formed by geologic processes
that have a crystalline structure and a definable chemical composition. Its internal
structure characterized by an orderly arrangement of atoms, ions, or molecules in a
crystalline lattice. Almost all minerals are inorganic, for instance, sugar is an organic
chemical in which is made by carbon, hydrogen, and oxygen that it is not a mineral.
2.Why is glass not a mineral?
A glass isn t a mineral because crystalline structure in which the atoms make up a
mineral aren t distributed randomly and cannot move around easily, and the atoms
in a glass aren t arranged in an orderly pattern. Moreover, both minerals and glasses
are solids, and they can retain their shape, but a mineral is crystalline ,and glass is
not because the atoms, ions, or molecules are the elements in a mineral are ordered
into a crystal lattice, and glass doesn t has those elements and disorderly arrange.
3.Describe the several ways that mineral crystals can form.
The mineral crystals can form in five ways. First, they can form by the

Appendicitis is one of the most common surgical diagnosis in the emergency
department. Recent literature has supported the safety of nonoperative management
of uncomplicated appendicitis. The APPAC trial was recently started in Finland to
provide level 1 evidence to the hypothesis that at least 75% of patients with
uncomplicated appendicitiscan be managed effectively with antibiotics. Another study
by Abes M et al has demonstrated 93.7% success rate in the non operative
management of pediatric patients with uncomplicated appendicitis by limiting non
operative management to patients with hemodynamic stability, a short history of less
than 24 hours, without the signs of peritoneal irritation, necrosis or appendicolith.

Treatment failure was defined as subsequent readmission for any form of
appendicitis, drainage of appendiceal abscess or appendectomy within 30 days of
index admission. Recurrence was defined as a subsequent admission for any form of
appendicitis, drainage of abscess or appendectomy at any time after 30 days from
discharge. Among these two categories, patients were classified as perforated and
non perforated. Treatment cost, length of stay and in hospital/30 day mortality rates
were assessed as secondary outcomes.
Objective of this study was to assess the rates of treatment failure, recurrence, post
discharge perforation, mortality, total cost and length of stay in the non operative
management of uncomplicated appendicitis. Retrospective analysis was conducted
using the data from the California office of state wide health planning and
development. Patient discharge data was included from 1995 to 2010. Only
patients with ICD 9 diagnosis code of 540.9 were included. Admissions in the year
2009 and 2010 were not included to allow at least two years of follow up. Charleson
index was calculated to assess patient s comorbidities. A total of 2,31,678 patients
with acute uncomplicated appendicitis were identified. 98.5% were managed with
appendectomy. Only 3370 patients were managed nonoperatively and were included
in the study for analysis. There was significant difference in the characteristics
between non operative and surgical cohorts. Non operative patients were older and
25. The Death Penalty Sentence For Juvenile Offenders
The death penalty sentence for juvenile offenders is an intense issue that creates
polarizing ongoing debates. An example of a case needing scrutiny is the Supreme
Court of the United States decision in Roper v. Simmons, where the decision was
made by one vote difference. In this case, however, the situation was complex, as
the defendant was under the age of 18. So, based on the decision made by the
court, I believe the case was decided properly based on the Legal Realism theory. I
agree with the idea that the death penalty for juveniles is unconstitutional and
cruel, the same way it is for an adult. It should not be applied for capital crimes,
although murder should receive a serious punishment for public safety, unless the
case was an accident, or defending something you hold dear or self defense. The 8th
Amendment prohibits the federal government from imposing excessive bail,
excessive fines or cruel and unusual punishment which are the most quoted reasons
to abolish the death penalty with the 14th amendment s due process clause. It
might be agreeable that murder can be justified if something threatens your
survival you will do what it takes to survive, especially in these days of mass
shootings and mass murderers in public places. Catching someone in the act of
physical or sexual abuse of another is also a point of contention when discussing the
justification of murder. If a child is a victim of abuse and kills their abuser, how do
we adjudicate that child? After

questions but soon a torrent of ridiculous questions are showered on Stanley.
Language is used as a violent tool of abjection by Goldberg and McCann and it
serves to intensify Stanley s paranoia and lay the foundations of his nervous
breakdown. Austin E. Quigley in his article The Language Problem suggests that,
Stanley is confronted by two visitors, who overcome his self confidence neither by
employing silence nor by concentrating on an inefficient use of language. They
verbally bludgeon him into submission and silence by the sheer number and variety
of their accusations (289).
The interrogation scene begins with Stanley initially trying to defend himself but ...

who is unaware of Teddy s marital status or that he has three sons. Ruth s past life
is not clear in this play so we have to assume a few things about her. We know for
sure that she was a body model and maybe a prostitute before meeting Teddy her
husband. What makes her choose this profession in the first place is not
mentioned. Was she compelled by a flesh peddler or poverty? Or she had willfully
chosen this profession to be sexually desired by others. The second proposition
seems more realistic as towards the end of the play she agrees to stay with Teddy s
family, serve them and take up prostitution as a profession. Now what triggers a
woman to be sexually desired by males? The answer is power. A woman who is
generally weaker in terms of physical might in comparison to males, for which she
is also, treated as an abject who is to be controlled or dominated by the patriarchal
society, can exercise full control and power over her male counterpart with the help
of her sexual powers and

The Three appeals define the idea of persuasion throughout a piece of literature.
Throughout an argument, the elements of Logos, Ethos and Pathos are present in
some fashion. The use of Logos focuses on the persuasion through evidence aspect.
An author who understands that they have the Matter of Fact and Policy on their
side typically uses logos. Logos is typically not something an author strives to use,
but is apparent to the reader. An example for a logos essay would be Susan

essay provides logos type qualities is by the clear reasoning that she gives, along with
the evidence she provides to defend her side. She effectively acknowledges the

many of the women in the story are lacking equal standing and power to the men.

31. Mexican Immigration And The United States
Mexican immigration to the United States began in the 1900 s, characterized as a

MEXICANS IN THE U.S. The first occurring prior to World War II, where the
immigrated population rose from 221,915 in 1910 to 641,462 in 1930, according to
the 1933 U.S. Census. (McCaa, 2003)
Many historians attribute this influx of immigrants in the early 1900 s to the
political turmoil that the Mexican Revolution of 1910 brought on. (Kosack Ward,
2014) Many Mexicans fled to avoid the conflict but also because the Mexican
government failed to recover political stability for a long period of time. During this
first wave of migration, the immigrant population increased by a mere 420,000 in
comparison to the higher numbers in more recent immigration patterns. The income
of immigrants of this period consisted of agricultural workers, hired by private labor
contractors looking for people to work strenuously for low wages. This trend
continued to grow and decline as the agricultural economy in the United Stats
continued to develop across the country.
The second wave of immigrant influx occurred during 1942 to 1964, with the
introduction of the Bracero Program, recognized as the first governmental action
taken to regulate Mexican immigration

General comment
This paper explores the concept of financial stability, recognising that some countries
have learnt to achieve this state over time, while others have not. The study uses
empirical evidence in conjunction with several nation based case studies to account
for potential causes of this discrepancy. The interplay between financial development,
financial globalization and financial crises is established, and it is suggested that
financial development is encouraged by financial globalization and capital flows,
and is hindered by financial crises. In the long run, however, it is argued that a
country is able to learn from these instances and avoid recurrences by achieving
political stability, defining property rights well and adopting democracy, along with
other institutional features. The research question is interesting and has the potential
to unlock valuable insights, in the sense that policy makers are able to reflect on the
performance of their own economy and use the study s outcomes to grow up to
financial stability, if needed. However, from the outset, several key terms were ill
defined and ultimately the conclusions presented are tangential and fail to adequately
answer the outlined goal of the research. Thus, it is for this reason that this

41. Nutrition Preference And Its Effect On Diet Preference
Introduction:
Every living thing has a diet preference, it just depends how wide or narrow those
preferences are. Diet preference helps determine the genetic make up of an
organism, you are what you eat . The appetite level of an organism can affect diet
preference by allowing them to eat something they wouldn t normally eat. For this
same reason, hydration levels of an organism may play a role in diet preference.
Understanding diet preference in a species like humans may seem trivial but not for
something like a house cricket.
House crickets, Acheta domesticus are thought to be endemic to northwest Africa or
southwest Asia (Weismann and Rentz 1977, Ghouri 1961). Currently this species
has a near cosmopolitan distribution, and is typically associated with anthropogenic
establishments. Females can be easily distinguished from males from their
ovipositor, which allows them to lay eggs underground. Crickets are diet
generalists and can feed on a variety of plants(revise). Currently there is little
research on what effects hydration levels has on diet preference in crickets. If
crickets are given a choice between kale and iceberg lettuce, crickets that are more
dehydrated will visit iceberg lettuce over kale. Sex may play a factor in this as well. If
sex has an effect on number of visits to kale and iceberg then we should see a
difference in visits among males and females.

then publicly received as the truth. Williams argues that Standard Operating
Procedure asks the audience to question their visual interpretation and investigate the
framing of the visual culture of war. By investigating the investigation into the
actions that occurred at Abu Ghraib prison and the system in place to punish such
acts Williams argues that Standard Operating Procedure reframes and contextualizes

With this focus on the soldiers who bore the punishment and the blame for policies
that they implemented. These witnesses, of whom many believe as war criminals,
give their testimony into the context of the photographs. Using the interrotron, a
machine which enables the interviewee to look directly at the camera whilst
answering question by the interviewer, allows to audience to be looked in the eye by
these soldiers. These testimonies paired with staged re enactments, that focus on
details from the testimonies, provide the audience with a visual representation of the
soldier s context, of which are not seen in the limited visual space of the photographs.
These testimonies provide information to understand what exactly happened at the
time of the photographs, or what occurred outside of the limited visual frame. In off
camera queries, that the audience never hear, Morris poses the question of what each
person was thinking at the time of the photographed incidents. In doing so, Standard
Operating Procedure offers an investigation into an investigation, though not one that
provides a clear sense of guilt or innocence as the soldier s testimonies provide a truth
as they themselves see it. Williams believes that Morris is not interested in what truth
can be revealed through testimony, instead Morris is interested in the way that people
interpret
43. The Role Of Changing Perceptions In The Film Radiance
Change is an indispensable and necessary part of life. As we continue to progress
through life, we continue to change both physically and emotionally. Time and
experience allows us to change our attitudes and perceptions of basically everything
around us.
By changing our perceptions we can change the way we view the world, as often it is
not the world around us that needs to change but rather how we view it. This is an
integral concept in the film Radiance. Throughout the film, the characters
perceptions change as they begin to reconsider events, people and ideas from
different points of view. As the film progresses, the viewer is given the opportunity
to adapt to the varying perspectives of Nona (No nah), Cressy and Mae. Through
this, the audience is able to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
An assortment of events occur all throughout the novel which impact the characters
lives and change their points of view. A prime example of such a character in the
novel, is Josephine Alibrandi. Josie is a seventeen year old scholarship student
struggling through her п¬Ѓnal year at a wealthy girls catholic school. This is the year
her father comes back into her life and the year she discovers the secrets of her
family s past. Throughout the year, many events occur that change Josie s
personality and attitude towards the world. She matures from being a very tenacious
and impatient girl to a more responsible and experienced character. This is evident
through her shift in attitude towards her father, Michael Andretti. The changing
nature of their father/ daughter relationship may be easily derived from their
dialogue. Initially, even before meeting her father Josie resents him. She states I d
rather die than meet my father . She feels that he abandoned her mother while she
was pregnant and that there is no point in him coming back after disappearing for
seventeen years of their lives. The feeling of anger she has towards him increases,
and she
44. Being A Loyalist Essay
As proved today, we should clearly stay under Britain s rule. Let s not forget that
being a loyalist was very risky and unsafe. Whenever someone was a loyalist they
were put into danger because patriots were known to overreact. For example, when
Thomas Hutchinson revealed he was a loyalist, patriots burnt down his house
instead of being civilized. Also, you could be imprisoned by the patriots just for
being a loyalist. The patriots felt that being a loyalist was wrong and would
imprison you just for having that opinion. Along with being imprisoned, you had to
pay a huge amount of money to get out. This goes to show that many people were
afraid to be loyalists because of the consequences and how violent the patriots were.
This also shows that... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They protested for taxation without representation simply because they didn t want to
pay taxes, and the protests weren t peaceful. One example of their violence is the
Boston Tea Partyand The Boston Massacre. The Boston Massacre wasn t even a
massacre despite the name. This was when some patriots started throwing
snowballs at soldiers and the soldiers had to defend themselves from the patriots,
so the patriots were shot. The Boston Tea Party was when a very small tax was
placed on tea and the patriots weren t happy about that. So instead of paying the
very small tax, they went onto the tea ships and dumped the tea into the ocean. The
taxes would overall help us in the end, because they also helped with protection and
a better military. For their protests on Taxation without representation , they were
protesting something that wasn t completely true. Actually, it was false because
there was representation. Each colony had someone that could go to Parliament
and speak on the colony s behalf. As for the taxes, they were placed on all of
Britain, not just the colonies, yet the patriots were not satisfied and decided not to
pay the taxes even though they were cheaper than what Britain had to pay. May I
remind you that the taxes were being placed because of the land we have. The
patriots want to go to war again which would not only result in an estimated
45. Rene Magritte s The Rape
Influenced by the progressing technology and the Industrial Revolution which drove
people to urban life, modern art brought an emphasis on originality, innovation and
looking at things with a different perspective. One of the major themes of
Modernism was to abandon old ideas and produce new ways of creating art.
Postmodernismmovement developed between the later 1960s and the 1990s that
revived earlier styles that artists could sample, adopt and recycle in order to create
new, contemporary pieces and ideas. In the lecture for Modernism, the piece that
made me think the most was Rene Magritte s The Rape. This piece shows a women
s portrait with her face missing and a female body shown as the face. Rene Magritte

Being a woman, I can relate to this not only understanding the history of female
oppression but also still witnessing sexual objectification of women in todays
society. Sexual objectification of women is still embedded in our culture as media
and advertising use women s bodies in order to sell movies, music and products.
Even my own experiences working at bars has shown me that some men see you
as an object rather than a human being. In the Postmodernism era, the group that
really furthered these ideas about female objectification and created a movement
that wanted to bring to light women s oppression in art were the Guerrilla Girls. In
their piece, Do women have to naked to get into the Met. Museum?, there is a nude
women shown with a gorilla suit head which puts a comical spin on the topic. They
stated in the piece that Less than 3% of the artists in the Modern Art sections are
women, but 83% of the nudes are females . These two works are similar due to the
fact that they enable the audience to question the roles of women in art. Both pieces
of art were trying to implement social change. Magritte s The Rape, is implanting the
shock factor the viewer and it strips the woman of identity and

47. Approaching Instruction With Clear Instructional Goals,
Approaching instruction with clear instructional goals, or to borrow a phrase
popularized by Stephen Covey, beginning with the end in mind, not only makes
intuitive sense but is well supported by research. In his 35 years of meta analysis on
research in education, Robert Marzano (2003) identifies a guaranteed and viable
curriculum as one of 11 factors with a proven track record of increasing student
achievement. Marzano (2003) defines a guaranteed and viable curriculum as one in

Too many standards: Cynthia Schmeiser, president and chief operating officer of
ACT s education division, commented on the problem of state curricula that include
too many standards. She said
State learning standards are often too wide and not deep enough. [High school
teachers] are trying to cover too much ground more ground than colleges deem
necessary in the limited time they have with students. (Olson, 2007, p. 20) 2.
Standards that are not of equal importance: ACT s 2005 06 National Curriculum
study showed that college instructors largely disapproved of their state s academic
content standards. Two thirds of those who responded said their state standards
prepared students poorly or very poorly for college level work. High school teachers,
on the other hand, felt differently, with a majority responding that their state
standards prepared students well or very well for college level work (Marklein,
2007). Not all state standards are of equal importance, and what students get tested on
may not be what is most important. 3. Standards that lack unidimensionality:
Marzano cites the following 5th grade benchmark from the National Council of
Teachers of Mathematics: Develop fluency in adding, subtracting, multiplying, and
dividing whole numbers (p. 15).

48. Daisy Miller Dialectical Journal
Based on Harper s Magazine article, Daisy Miller it s portrayed as a coquette, a
flirt. Throughout Daisy Miller, the novella, there are many examples that support
the negative opinion of Harper s Magazine. Daisy Miller is an American girl who
displays herself in an uncommon way bragging to Winterbourne saying, I have
more friends in New York than in Schenectady more gentleman friends (1.8) During
the Gilded age, the late 1800 s, in Europe, it was an abnormal thing for girls to brag
about having gentlemen friends, yet here that s exactly what Daisy does. Daisy and
Winterbourne are in the middle of a conversation, when Daisy gloats to Winterbourne
about all the friends she has back in New York, more exactly her gentlemen friends.

They seem to have made several acquaintances, but the courier continues to be the

Italians, with whom she rackets about in a way that makes much talk. (2.25) This
show that Daisy likes and wants the attention of not one, but many men, charming
them with her flirtatious acts. Every woman even nowadays likes the attention of
men, however the attention of a few men all at once is what makes Daisy a flirt.
Daisy acts in an unsophisticated way, not hiding the fact that she leads men on,
rather giving people a chance to speak negatively about her. She simply enjoys
flirting with men, making sure that in every place she travels, there s at least one
man giving her attention. Just like in Geneva where Daisy flaunts Winterbourne
around , in Rome she finds someone else to flaunt around, Mr. Giovanelli. At night,
Winterbourne walks around admiring the beauty in Rome, when he sees Daisy,
however she isn t alone it says that, Giovanelli was at her side and Giovanelli, too,
wore an aspect of even unwonted brilliancy. (2.47) Daisy is never alone, she always
has a man by her side, never

Great as people think he was.Alexander the great was a villain because he forced

he didn t allow the people that he conquered practice their religion and lead religious

50. Greek History Vs Christian History
In classical antiquity, two great traditions had dominance in the art of history: Greek
and Christian. This paper will discuss three primary topics in regard to each tradition
s historiography, namely, what history is, what sources they used and by what
method they are analyzed, and what is the relevance of studying history. Each topic
will be explained for each tradition and a comparison between the traditions will
follow per topic. As a whole, it will be demonstrated that the Greek and Christian
historians differed in their presuppositions taken to the historical records, and this is
what caused their superficial differences. For early Greek historians, history was the
chronological account of past events. Both Herodotus and Thucydides endeavored to
described these events by explaining the human actions behind them through natural
means, not divine means. As stated, Herodotus viewed events as chronologically
successive. In other words, events happened one after the other with causal relations
between them. Moreover, Thucydides... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
History served the purpose of demonstrating God s dealings with humanity,
verified kingships, and was a source of truth about God and religious dogma. The
study of history, then, took on a meaning that was relevant to the people who
studied it, despite the fact that the students of it were not remotely close to the time
period the events they studied took place. This is the case since divinely
authorized kings would affect how persons viewed their current political situation,
and it showed them that trials that they faced were not very different from other
trials that took place due to the hand of God. Therefore, the relevance of history to
the Christian was not merely a look into the past, but also a look into why the
present is as it is and what the moral standing of the people are as a
52. The Year Of Wonders By Geraldine Brooks
Oppression is defined as, the exercise of authority or power in a burdensome, cruel,
or unjust manner (dictionary.com), and is found all around the world. There is
essentially two parts to oppression: the oppressor, who is demonstrating his power
by displaying cruelty towards the second part of oppression, the oppressed. The
oppressed take part in offenses made by the oppressor, that usually contain a cruel,
and unfair burden towards them. The world has demonstrated this profound
relationship since human history first began, not only in their way of life, but in
literature. For example, Geraldine Brooks, displays the oppressors, in her novel The
Year of Wonders, by implicating strong men, and a powerful family; while the
oppressed are... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Panem is significantly lacking fellowship and liberation while under the
oppressive rule of the Capitol. People are suffering and working endlessly each
and every day inside the districts, while everybody in the Capitol is living a superb
and wealthy life. In order for this to change, Panem needs to reflect on these views,
and change their way of life. In the novel, Peeta says, Only I keep wishing I could
think of a way to... to show the Capitol they don t own me. That I m more than just
a piece in their games (Collins 142). He has already reflected the lack of liberation
in Panem, and is now trying to envision a way to fix it. This needs to be the
mentality of everybody in Panem. Cutting out oppression, and increasing
fellowship, liberation, and solidarity, will disembody the life they are living now, and
produce an improved way of life for everybody in Panem. In his novel, Pedagogy of
the Oppressed, Paulo Freire also says, It is only when the oppressed find the
oppressor out and become involved in the organized struggle for liberation that they
begin to believe in themselves. This discovery cannot be purely intellectual but must
involve action (Freire). The Secret Life of Bees, by Sue Monk Kidd, is linked to this
quote. This novel is based out of South Carolina in 1964, at the time when the civil
rights movement was strong, and the Jim Crow laws were still intact. Black people
were treated unfairly and
53. Hippocrates Research Paper
The Father of Medicine
Hippocrates became the father of medicine when he transformed the path of Greek
medicine. He showed his beliefs on how to fight infections, and the correct way to
practice medicine. Andrew Fleming also transformed medicine by discovering an
antibiotic, penicillin. Formerly there were no other studies that showed someone else
successively produced penicillin. Without Hippocrates previously sharing his
knowledge of all diseases, Fleming would not have gotten so far that easily. Also, in
the event that Fleming would have not stopped and seen the mold on his dirty dish,
he would have missed his chance for discovery. Hippocrates single handedly
transformed medicine forever. Andrew is equally as important, but without

Hippocrates taught it was important to keep a record of the patient s conditions and
their symptoms. His name is associated with the Hippocratic Oath; 70 works
ascribed to him in the Hippocratic Collection; six of them he actually wrote himself.
The Hippocratic Oath is a document on medical practice, ethics, and morals; the
most famous document of the Hippocratic Corpus. He collected data, and conducted
experiments to show disease was a natural process of the body. Hippocrates,
countering the Cnidian School, believed the human body functioned as one unified
organism, and must be treated in health and diseases as a whole. As his main
unifying theory for the holistic understanding of the human organisms and how they
function in health and disease, Hippocrates used the Four Humors. He was a great
believer in dietary measures in the treatment of diseases. Prognostic, Coan
Prognosis, and Aphorisms advanced and the then revolutionary idea that, by
observing cases, a physician can predict a course of disease. Hippocrates life was a
constant and enduring source of inspiration for doctors and healers throughout the
years. Alexander s contributions were minor and major all in one. Andrew
established that antiseptic agent (Boric Acid Hydrogen Peroxide) used to treat
wounds and prevent infection were actually killing more of the white blood cells, or
soldiers, then the infections were. Later on, he
