Beauty Of Yellowstone Research Paper
Beauty of Yellowstone When I was a little girl my grandparents went on a trip out west. They
flew to Colorado and from there they began their road trip through the vast wilderness of the
Rocky Mountains. They came home and told me stories of the great, beautiful mountains and
about all the beautiful farms and wildlife. Of all the stories they told me, the one that stood out
the most was the day they visited Yellowstone National Park. The moment I heard their story, I
knew I had to visit there one day. Hearing about Yellowstone s variation of wildlife, Old Faithful,
and nature has made Yellowstone the number one place I would like to visit. Yellowstone is one
place where I can see bears, eagles, snakes, and caribou all in one day. They have

Designing A Life For Creating Others Experiences
Designing One s Life to Create Others Experiences
Throughout the world, the voice of Andrea Bocelli permeates the ears of millions of people in
multiple countries leaving all who hear with fond memories. Boasting of more than 80 million
record sales around the world, Bocelli s music tops classical and pop charts. Though, while
Bocelli started his singing career during his childhood, even winning a singing competition at the
age of 14, his professional singing career did not start until after a short time in another career. In
1980, after he finished his undergraduate, he attended the University of Pisa, where he studied law.
He went on to work as a court appointed attorney for that first year after he graduated from law
school. Much like Bocelli, Sean Van Tyne noted author, speaker, and consultant on customer
experience and related topics studied a subject not related to that for which he found his passion.
Van Tyne holds a BFA in Painting and a Master s in Education, which he used to begin his career
painting fine art and teaching. He spent his days in the studio and afternoons as Artist in Residence
through the Aesthetic Education Institute. Then, when he and his wife decided to start a family, he
sought another career that used similar creative problem solving skills he loved about art. As more
and more people started interacting online, in the 1990 s, he worked in database architecture,

Atyotypical BCR-ABL Translocation
This paper is a short case study focused on a patient with an atypical BCR ABL translocation in
CML. The 80 year old male patient presented with a history of two months of worsening fatigue,
weakness, shortness of breath and weight loss. Blood tests showed mild anemia, normal platelets,
and leukocytosis with elevated myelocytes and metamyelocytes. The bone marrowaspirate showed a
hypercellular marrow with 90% myeloid cells, but no myeloblasts. A karyotype was performed
on the cells from the marrow aspirate; it revealed the Philadelphia chromosome translocation.
This confirmed the diagnosis of CML. Further PCR study was done on the patient s RNA and it
revealed an atypical band on the gel. This band was purified from the gel and sequenced. It
revealed the rare presence of the e1a3 BCR ABL exon combination.... Show more content on

This absence predisposes the patient s cells to growth factor independence and therefore
transformation. Another aspect of the transformation of note is that the proliferation takes longer
due to slower leukemogenesis. This gives this disease an indolent course, which makes it
particularly difficult to detect. The patient in this case was put on 400mg of Imatinib daily. The
CML responded well to the treatment, the patient s blood and marrow studies normalized. However,
after five months the patient developed a lymphoid blast crisis. Bone marrow studies showed 94%

Kincaid Girl
In a stream of authoritative orders of domestic chores, appearance, and behavior, a female in the
short story, Girl , depicts her overwhelmingly self conscious actions during her repetitive inner
dialogue. All the necessary knowledge and skills the girl must know is a reflection of society s
requirements for womento avoid shame. However, her effort in maintaining a perfect appearance
may not guarantee a respectful standing in society. The author, Kincaid, sheds light on society s
judgmental and demanding expectations towards girls through repetition, symbolism, and imagery.
The narrator of The Girl suggests that women must obediently perform her duties regardless of her
feelings and her need for respect. Throughout the entire story, there is a repetition of imperatives
that do not contain any polite diction, such as please. Additionally, due to the absence of pronouns
in the list of commands, the narrator s tone is similar to that of a master or higher authority
speaking to someone of insignificant status. Wash the clothes and don t walk barehead[ed] are
examples of how the narrator repeatedly states orders that feels stifling. Consequently, the
condescending tone in The Girl highlights the perception of women in society a maid whose name
or emotions is not even worthwhile to learn or acknowledge. ... Show more content on

The narrator warns the girl not to pick people s flowers because she might catch something as if
she is weak enough to get sick from a plant. Therefore, the flower represents women s fragility
towards anything that could pose a threat even if the threat is unreasonable; for instance, getting

dress represent the girl s desire to appear virtuous, even if internally, she isn t because of a

Essay about X-ray Absorption and X-ray Fluorescence...
X ray probe production by a synchrotron light source.
To optimize the properties of nano material and atomic level needs an elemental probe with
resolution of 1nm. The nano scale probe helpful to provide the reproducible control over defects.
The production of x rays by relativistic electrons in accelerators is about 60 years old. The
accelerator facilities used as synchrotron radiation sources have advanced significantly over the
years, growing in utility to become a premier research tool for the study of materials. The evolution
of these facilities is typically described as a sequence of generations of synchrotron radiation
sources.
Fourth generation sources are currently being designed and demonstrated. Two approaches have

motion sensing and control enables detailed studies of the internal features of samples with a
resolution approaching 30 nm. The Hard X ray Nano probe is a combination scanning probe and
full field imaging microscope for fluorescence mapping, nano diffraction and transmission
imaging. Future improvements in X ray optics fabrication and precision sensing and motion control
will be incorporated into the beam line to enable imaging at a resolution approaching 10 nm [1].
X Ray Fluorescence Microscopy (XFM):
The basic principle behind the X ray Fluorescence microscopy (XFM) is the exposure of X ray
beam on the sample. The technique is employed to establish the elemental concentrations for wide
range of samples in multiple locations of cells and tissue samples. It has excellent sensitivity for the
detection of trace elements. This technique is enabling to image the whole cell along with the
quantification of elements on the per cell basis. This is because of the large penetration depth of
the hard X rays used. Cryogenic approach is used to investigate the samples in their natural or
hydrated state. Due to the third generation synchrotron drastic development was

Differences Between Christianity And Christianity
Today in our modernized world, religions can be found almost anywhere. Religions like
Buddhism, Taoism, Hinduism, or Islam constantly shape our world by inspiring many people
every day from every walk of life to follow and pursue the never ending spiritual path to
righteousness and salvation. Despite these big foreign religions, there is another type of religion
which branches into several smaller versions which attracts much of the American public. This
religion is called Christianityand within Christianity is several smaller branches like, Methodism,
Baptism, or Episcopalian but; two of the biggest branches of this complex religion are Catholicism
and Protestantism. If one were to closely examine these two faiths then they will find that they
both have the same objective which is to lead more people to God. However, there are many
differences between these two multifarious faiths. Differences between these two faiths include
differences in their origins, how these two faiths came into existence. There are also smaller
differences that exist, for example the use of holy water, celibacy and nuns, the use of
communion, belief in purgatory, and use of scriptures. Despite these smaller differences one can
clearly see the two of the major differences that truly make these two faiths completely differential.
Two of the major differences that exist between these two faiths are the belief of how one will
acquire salvation and what the afterlife will be like.

Examples Of Semiotic Analysis
1. Introduction and Background In this essay I will evaluate the various components used to
construct meaning in Figure 1 by means of a semiotic analysis. I will discuss the theory of
certain semiotic concepts and apply them to Figure 1 throughout the text. The image in Figure 1
delivers a visual message and it is supported by illustrated text, three captions, and two logos. The
knowledge necessary to interpret the illustration is knowledge of writing and English (Barthes
1977: 153). This analysis is applicable to an adult audience familiar with food and diet ideologies,
as well as concepts of celebrity endorsement. 1.1 Context and Representation of Figure 1 The

The consumption of meat becomes a moral issue. If consuming meat is considered to be immoral,
then a vegetarian diet is the morally acceptable option. This logo challenges the morals of the
viewer and is used to illicit a guilty response (Bailey 2007: 44, 50). Connotatively6 this sign can
imply that, unlike animals, the reader does not have a heart until he/she embraces a vegetarian diet.
This connotation contradicts the primary phrase in Figure 1; All animals have the same parts .
Another connotation deliberately used by PETA, is the image of the blue silhouetted cow; its shape
is popularly associated with dairy and beef products within the consumer market. Through this the
reader immediately associates the symbol with food products and

Rocket Launcher Lab Report
In this lab, it was found that the rocket launcher can be launched in many different ways. It was
found that the rocket launcher flights higher or goes further with the less amount of clay. I believe
that that s right because the more you add clay, the more it makes it heavier. When I put 1.49
grams of clay, it turned out to be 16 meters and that was the highest. The experiment was completed
using clay, rocketlauncher, and a measuring wheel. These materials are used in order to see what
happens when it flies higher. My hypothesis was right because I said that if we put the least
amount of clay in the straw, it will go further. It was proven right because putting less clay on a
straw would make it less heavy and lighter. The procedure shows every step, for example, you
need to put 1.49 grams of clay on the straw...... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The one that went further was the 16 meter one which is the one with the less clay on it. In this
lab, we are trying to test different variables in order to figure out which one will fly further. We
had to drop weight from a high thing. This is what made it fly further. The experiment results
showed that the less cay you put, the further it will go. I believe this is right because if we add a
lot of clay onto the straw, it will add more weight to the straw, therefore, it will fall easily. So in
the end, the straw with 1.49 grams of clay flew the furthest than all of them. The pattern was for
every trial the less clay one always had the

Unit 3: Health, safety and security in health and social care. This assignment will look at incidents
and emergencies that can happen in a health and social care setting. Within my assignment I will be
explaining possible priorities and responses when dealing with two incidents or emergencies in a
health and social care setting. I will be discussing health, safety or security concerns that may arise
from the incident or emergency. Then I will be discussing how I would respond to them. An
emergency is defined as a serious, unexpected, and often dangerous situation requiring immediate
action. (Oxford University). An incident is defined as a relatively insignificant event that might
have serious consequences. (Collins, 2014).... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As soon as possible I would then write what happened down in an incident book because if
anything major was to go wrong with Anna and I missed something out in the incident book, I

to do this because because Anna s safety comes first. My last priority is to ensure that all the
residents in the home receive the right care and all medication is given accordingly to the client s
needs and to ensure that staff is giving the right doses to the right clients. This is an important
thing to do because it s going to minimise any incidents in relation to the client s health for
example an overdose or incorrect medication. Another improvement would be to ensure that all the
staff have the proper training in order to give the care that is required and to exceed the minimum
standards of care, doing this will ensure that residents are more safe because they will be under the

My College Admission Analysis
I have imagined what my college experience would be like since I was in elementary school. I
am from a large family that is passionate about sports and all of their respective alma maters.
Colleges and their various merits have always been a part of our family dialogue. I have had
plenty of time to consider the many aspects of college such as, size, location, resources, career
development and campus life. The college experience I desire has me more suited to small to
medium size campuses. Top notch academics, a well regarded reputation and many opportunities

Summary Of Conflict In Dostoevsky s Cuckoolsky
Part II: Close Reading/ Literary Term Analysis
1st Entry: Part I (Conflict)
Conflict: Conflict is a struggle that happens between two opposing forces. There are two main types
of conflict, internal and external. Internal conflict is the struggle between man and himself.
External struggles include man versus man, man versus nature and man versus society.
Example: I wonder what people are most afraid of? I babble too much... maybe I babble because I
don t do anything. I ve learned to babble over this past month, lying in a corner, thinking about...
Cuckooland. Why on earth am I going now? Am I really capable of that? (4).
Function: In the first few pages of the novel, the author establishes the mental state that
Raskolnikov is in and his constant self doubt that he faces. By using internal conflict, Dostoevsky
can show the way Raskolnikov is constantly questioning himself, his preparation for his crime and
how he might react in the aftermath of committing his crime. In the opening paragraphs of Crime
and Punishment, readers can see Raskolnikov questioning himself and going back and forth about
every thought that enters his mind. These thoughts include what people are afraid of, whether he
babbles too much, why he babbles and when and why he is going to Cuckooland. By vividly
describing the internal conflict that Raskolnikov is facing, readers are able to establish a sense of
how Raskolnikov handles situations and his thought process. By establishing this now, Dostoevsky

A Gravestone Made of Wheat
In short stories, often an author can find him/herself limited on space to develop one or more of
the story s characters. A skilled author can use small vignettes to relate instances of character
development that can be used to infer a relationship with the character. These passages can be a
line or two, but can carry the weight of a full chapter if executed properly. Will Weaver paints an
idyllic farm scene in A Gravestone Made of Wheat, featuring a full cast of traditional characters.
Nevertheless, through glimpses into specific instances in Olaf and Inge s respective lives together,
the audience can appreciate their nontraditional nature. Weaver s short story opens with a

For five long weeks the couple longs for letters from Germany proving Inge s character, all while
remaining apart. When the letters finally arrive, and still Inge is denied citizenship, the frustration
shared between the couple reaches a tipping point. Yet still, the couple remains steadfast in their
decision to remain apart before marriage. This display of strength, in the face of an illogical system
stands to prove the traditional nature of both Inge and Olaf. While much of the story is
dedicated to the portrayal of Olaf and Inge as traditional old country farm type, there is much to
be said for their radical attitudes. While the couple did decide to remain abstinent during the
initial naturalization process, Inge and Olaf did live in close enough quarters to raise the
eyebrows of a stark traditionalist. Olaf bathes bare chested in full view of his admiring wife, and
Inge catches Olaf admiring her looks as she cooks breakfast for him. The couple falls madly in
love with each other as they wait to marry, and their traditional defenses slowly slip away. They
stay up late at night, with nobody else around, to talk and spend time in the other s company. When
Inge is required by the judge to wait a year before he will approve her naturalization, Inge breaks
the barrier surrounding their relationship; first in the courthouse, where she gives up on the
systematic exclusion, and then further in the hayloft where she lies with Olaf for the first time.

The 1994 Documentary, Hoop Dreams, directed by Steve James, is a masterful display of human
drama. The story line is so captivating and theatrical that it seems crafted from fiction. The
Documentary boasts cinematic techniques and private investigating that rivals most film of this time

In contrast with interviews that James conducts as a source or witness, in which he sets the mise en
scene, James tends to keep the camera true to life with the mother (Bellour, 50). James maintains a
shaky camera technique to solidify his position as the eye looking into their world. During panning
or other establishing shots, narrated sequences, and interviews with characters, a tripod is used to
separate those moments from the story. Although not entirely non diegetic, the interviews are
spaces in the film shot outside of the story. The audience is given confirmation of how William and
Arthur must be feeling during this time, allowing character development. Along with the ethical
concerns of not tampering with reality, aesthetic efforts during the interviews was necessary to
separate them from reality (Ellis, 222) Arthur s mother, Sheila Agee, was a symbolic representation

Four Freedoms Speech
Freedom is something that many people take for granted. Having freedom allows you to make
your own decisions. Many people abuse their rights by making bad choices. It is important to
appreciate the rights you have because not everyone around the world has freedom. During
Franklin Delano Roosevelt s Four Freedoms Speech, he lists the four essential human freedoms.
First, people should have freedom of speech and expression which means that people should
have the right to say what is on their mind and to say things that can help others. Second, people
need to worship God in his own way everywhere in the world meaning people can choose their
religion and do what their God wants them to. Third, everyone should have economic
understandings to allow them to have everything that is necessary in life. Fourth, everybody
should be able to live their life without worrying about what someone might do to harm them. In
John F. Kennedy s inaugural address, he says, if a free society cannot help the many who are
poor, it cannot save the few who are rich. He also states the importance of helping others around
the world who do not have freedom. John F. Kennedy wanted to create peace with all nations
before everything would be destroyed by a nuclear war. Lastly, he tells the citizens of the United
States and other people from different nations that they have the ability to determine their own
success or failure. When Malala Yousafzai spoke at the United Nations, she talked about the
rights that everyone should have. She cares about others rights and not just her own. Malala
wants people to remember that Malala Day is not my day. Today is the day of every woman,
every boy, and every girl who have raised their voices for their rights. Many people who do not
have freedom are fighting for their rights including: their right to live in peace, their right to be
treated with dignity, their right to equality of opportunity, and their right to be educated. When
Malala was shot by the Taliban, she said that they were hoping to silence people who wanted
more rights, but it actually caused more people to speak up and gave them strength, power, and
courage. Freedom can be related to Maya Angelou s Caged Bird. In this poem, a

THE PEDESTRIAN ANALYASIS
The pedestrian is a short story written by Ray Bradbury in 1953, the story takes place in the
year of 2053. In the story, we follow Leonard Mead as he goes for an evening stroll among tomb
like homes , until a police car interrupts him. In the end, the police car takes him away to the
Psychiatric Center for Research on Regressive Tendencies. The story is told using a third person

It has been made quite clear that the world he lives in, at least at that time of day, is dark and
shadowy.
It seems like he is the odd one out, his mindset has not changed even though his surroundings have
and because of this, he is incoherent, someone who is somehow unadapted to this new world.
This is shown many times during the story, for an example; but it really made no difference; he
was alone in this world of 2053 A.D., or as good as alone...
By smartly using the abbreviation A.D. (Anno Domini, which means in the year of our Lord )
Bradbury hints that this world and/or universe might be the same as the one we live in, or at least it
might have been at some point.
By not having a telescreen, he is excluding himself from this new soiciety, since intertainment and
life in general seems to be centered around a television in this world
And by being an outcast he is also a threat to the system becuase he does not remain distracted and
steady while being isolated inside his house behind a screen.

when he/she is responding to a call with lights on or just being on duty. This would render the
law constitutionally vague and hence void it until subsequent versions elaborated on the who,
what and where of what was restricted. Question 7: Despite the wording of most statutes
proscribing the offense of escape, courts increasingly require the prosecution to prove the
defendant s specific intent to avoid lawful confinement. Are courts justified in imposing such a
requirement on the statutory law? Yes. Statutory laws (written law) are subservient to federal
law but the burden of proof is placed on the prosecution. Proving a person willfully attempted to
evade lawful confinement would have to be proven if the charge was filed against the defendant.

The State Of New York s Budget Process
The State of New York s budget process involves six phases namely: The Call; The Executive
Budget; Public Hearings; Legislative Amendments; Enactment Phase; and Implementation Phase.
The budget process or cycle formally begins after the budget director issues the memorandum
policy referred to as The Call Letter to heads of agencies. The Call Letter marks the official
commencement of the budget process and starts at August and last through to October. As the early
mid fall approaches, each agency assembles a final program package and is then send to the
Budgetary Division. By the time December starts, the budgetary division normally has completed
the preliminary commendations for both the revenues and expenditures, and subsequently presents
them to respective Governor Office (New York State Government, n.d.). The second phase of the
process starts in November through to January referred to as The Executive Budget. In accordance
to the preliminary commendations and the most up to date economic atmosphere, the Governor
along with his staff then prepares the actual executive budget and by the closure of January, the
executive budget is released to the next phase (New York State Government, n.d.). The budget
proposed by the Governor at this stage must be financially balanced. The budgetary terms
confirming the proposed budget are very indirect requiring the Governor to classify all the
expenditures he anticipated to be realized prior to the end of the subsequent fiscal year.

Disadvantages Of E-Learning
RELATIVE ADVANTAGES OF E LEARNING OVER TRADITIONAL METHOD OF
TEACHING learning:
E learning has many advantages that make it suitable for the information age education system. The
main advantage is that it puts the learner in the centre of the equation instead of the teacher, trainer
or instructor. Others are:
It is easy to use and can work from any location. It provides great flexibility to e learners as they
can go through training sessions from anywhere in the world at any time. Thus, it is пЂ geographic
and time independent and saves travel expenses of number of learners and instructors which
otherwise they would have made.
Physical classroom settings are not required. On the contrary, the classroom comes to the learner
when s/he needs it, for just as long as s/he needs it.
It operates in real time. This just in time or any time benefit can make learning possible for people
who never would have been able to work it otherwise. Immediate interaction, feedback etc. sustain
interest of the learner and facilitates learning process.
It is individualized, self directed, self paced and convenient as most e learning programmes can be
taken when needed and at one s own pace. It

Assimilation, Amalgamation, And Accommodation
With over seventy five million immigrants coming into the United States since it first became a
nation, several theories have resulted. This chapter looks at assimilation, amalgamation, and
accommodation. The values of the dominant culture includes how those in America should look,
speak, and act. However, when these standards are not met by the immigrants it becomes difficult
for them to fit in comfortably. On the other hand, diversity allows for greater possibilities and
unexpected relationships to form. First, assimilation is discussed as immigrants forming within the
dominant groups, without any differences being seen. The minority conforms to the standards of
society and leaves behind their cultural and social differences. Therefore, when it comes to physical
appearance, it does not bother the dominant group because all other aspects of them already
conformed. Throughout the eighteenth century, the English decent played a tremendous role in the
developing this newly discovered nation s culture. Although people tried to get away from this
English culture during the nineteenth century, it shortly returned and the Angelo Saxon heritage
became the standard for minorities. To persevere this standard, schools were the main influence in
getting rid of cultural differences among individuals. Cultural assimilation, as explained by Milton
Gordon is one important phase of assimilation. This is where cultural patterns of the minorities
change to mirror those of the dominant

Security Issues With Automated And Connected Vehicle...
Whether this model is a fact will be tested as these technologies begin to expand. But once these
technologies are fully implemented, we will be able to more easily collect data and use it to
minimize the error. Therefore, making models in the future more accurate and reflective of driver

more efficient with their use of materials and will have a more efficient traffic operation.

Meaning, they can actively monitor the system, or be deployed into the networks only when a

corporations around the world. It s possible that hackers could trick the system overloading it with
data and requests, causing the system to fail.
Given that the Electronic Control System is the brain in automated and connected vehicles,
security of the system is a necessity. But an additional concern is securely locating where the car
is in relation to the roadway and other vehicles. While GPS is widely used, there is work to
utilize a more accurate technology. Some consider RFID to be the answer. Accuracy is critical in
connected vehicles and critical V2V technologies like Crash avoidance, which is already being
used by manufacturers like Mercedes Benz. These include advanced radar sensors that can detect
other vehicles or variations in driver behavior that could be related to drowsiness (Safety). The
origins of RFID come from the British during WW2 who developed a system to identify whether
approaching planes were the enemy or allies. The frequency is sent to a transponder through which
the frequency is identified with the location of the car (RFID Journal). The data being sent must use
the latest encryption technologies and remain updated in order

Safety of Employees in the Industry
There are many jobs in the world that are very dangerous, and might cause serious injury to
employees, such as: police, firefighter, construction, install or repair electrical, and more. Therefore,
employees safety is an essential component of any industry. They want secure that their employee
does not get an accident, or injuring while working. Today, many companies are giving safety
handbook for their employee to follow the rules and get understandable about the safety in the
company. However, to improve the safety for the workers, many industries have developed their
machinery, have their employee to train, and make sure that their workers are working in a good
condition environment.
Improving machinery is the one of the most priority that many industries should have done for
their employees. Back in the 1900s, many were people are dying or having serious injuries to
them because the machines were not built with the detection vibration. For example, in the story,
Monkey Palm , Mr. White s son, Herbert, was killed by the machinery because the technology back
then was not proficient compared today s technology. Nevertheless, today, many machines are
having a monitor vibration inside of it, and the employee will be given a warning if there a missing
part in the machine. Also, it is automatically shutting down the machine before it reaches to the
dangerous level. However, with the monitor vibration today, it will help many employees to protect
themselves and their health

Operation Cerberus also known as Channel Dash took place during World War II when a German
squadron consisting of two battleships and a heavy cruiser ran through a British blockade to further
their reach form British air attacks. The objective was to sail from Brest in Brittany through the
English Channel and then to home bases in Germany. This would also put them further north
giving them the advantage to intercept North Atlantic convoys in support of the Soviet Union
efforts. The German battleships arrived in Brest on March 22, 1941 after taking part in sinking 22
merchant ships in the Atlantic making them a high priority target. Then on June 1, a heavy cruiser

Employee Absenteeism
CHAPTER 1 1.1 INTRODUCTION Absence is the failure of worker to report for work when he
is scheduled to the work. A work is to be treated as absent for the purpose of this absenteeism
statistics even when he does not turn up for a week after obtaining prior permission. K.G. Desai
classified absenteeism in to two types viz, authorized absenteeism and unauthorized absenteeism.
Authorized absenteeism is permitted absenteeism i.e, taking leave prior permission of an employer.
Unauthorized absenteeism means taking leave without prior permission of an employer. Absence
of worker on account of strike or lock out or layoff i.e, involuntary absent is not considered as

Green Man Flashing Essay
Green Man Flashing is a play written by Mike van Graan and it is a story about a woman named
Gabby Anderson who is sexually assaulted by her high profile black boss. This story explores her
life before the assault and after. It has moments of flashbacks and is a reverse chronology where
the play starts at the end. GreenMan Flashing is a contemporary political piece because it explores
modern racism, universal eternal ideologies and the styles of flashbacks and simultaneous scenes
are used.
Racism is an ideology that would always be a part of life however racism now is different to the
racism back then. Racism now is a very controversial idea; where issues like black people not being
racist but white people are racist are explored. In Green ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Mike van Graan uses the style of flashbacks to tell the story because it shows that we all have to
go back to the past to grow as a person. This style of flashbacks also falls part of the idea of
reminiscing; that we all have a story to tell. The other style used is simultaneous scenes. This
style is modern because it adds to the idea of life not being how we want it to be. Life does not
really have a certain beginning and end; yes we are born and we die but when we choose is up
to us and when where we choose to die, give up, is also up to us. A great example of a
simultaneous scene would be scene 14 when Anna, Gabbys best friend, and Aaron are having a
conversation but also Gabby and Inspector Abrahams, Gabbys detective, are also having a
conversation. Mike van Graan couldn t literally make the scenes simultaneous but he did make
sure that he mentions that they are happening at the same time to show normal conversation. The
other choice of style Mike van Graan chose is that of not re enacting some scenes and this makes
this modern because it shows that whatever happened has happened. South African back then used
to dwell on many things such as pain but nowadays being sad is not part of the plan, mourning is
not given time. Aaron and Gabby do not give themselves time to deal with their son s death
whereas if it was back then it would have been a

Drug Discovery And Development Of New Medicine
Describe and discuss recent developments in drug discovery. As our society is evolving so is
diseases many drugs that were previously effective to cure certain diseases are simply not as
effective any more or on the other hand there isn t sufficient medicine to battle the current new
health problems that are arising with our evolving society for example obesity and a range of
cardiovascular diseases. In addition many of the medicine available today either only treats the
symptom or cures the disease with the addition of unwanted side effects. Hence, this is why drug
discovery and development is vital. It is through drug discovery and development that new
medicine is found.
Currently a lot of effort is going into Binuclear metallohydrolases as a target in drug development.
This is due to the fact this enzyme group has the potential to find solutions to health problems such
as erectile dysfunctions, osteoporosis, cardiovascular dieses and also even become the seed in
possible eradication of some antibiotic resistance.
The main enzymes in the binuclear metallohydrolases group that are most vital us are purple acid
phosphatases, metallo ОІ lactamases and arginases. The homologous feature in all these enzymes is
the existence of two very nearly touching metal ions that hold the ability to attract water molecules
that will then act as a nucleophile in a very particular hydrolytic reaction the importance of this is
that it means that binuclear acids will have a powerful ionic

Plants, being sessile organisms cannot move to more favorable places to escape the adverse
effects of HM toxicity.Exposure of the plants to toxic levels of HM triggers a wide range of
physiological and biochemical process; and plants in order to cope with the negative impacts of
toxicity develop and/or adopt a series of strategies (Fig.1) (Hayat et al., 2012). The initial response
of the plants to various stresses, including HM accumulation in the soils involve perception of stress

Convergence Of Gaap And Solvency Standards
To: CRO, The Greatest Life Insurance Company
Date: March 28, 2015
RE: Convergence of GAAP and Solvency Standards in the US, Canada and Europe
Executive Summary
There have been a number of proposed and upcoming changes to GAAP and solvency reporting
standards in the US, Canada and Europe in recent years. In particular, significant efforts have been
made to increase convergence between US GAAP and IFRS. The following report discusses the
pros and cons of convergence between standards in different jurisdictions, as well as convergence
between GAAP and solvency standards, in relation to insurance contracts. Here, the term GAAP
refers to financial reporting for investors, shareholders and creditors. Solvency standards refer to the
regulatory requirements imposed on insurers. The jurisdictions discussed have been limited to
those in which The Greatest Life Insurance Company operates in: namely, the US, Canada and
Europe.
The Greatest Life Insurance Company should support the convergence of GAAP standards as well
as the convergence of solvency standards in different jurisdictions. However, the Greatest Life
Insurance Company should not support the convergence of GAAP and solvency standards:
Distinct benefits exist in convergence of GAAP in different jurisdictions. Comparability between
companies that operate in, or are listed in, different countries, will be significantly improved.
Greater comparability leads to better information for investors, more efficient capital

Overview Of The Socio-Cultural Cognitive Theory Of Lev...
The socio cultural cognitive theory of Lev Vygotsky emphasizes children s cognitive development
cannot be understood apart from cultural settings, and social interactions and activities shape their
ways to construct knowledge (Jahoda, Dagnan, Stenfert Kroese, Pert, Trower, 2009; Santrock,
Mackenzie Rivers, Pangman, 2017; Woolfolk, Winne, Perry, 2016). The notion of the zone of
proximal development(ZPD) is a well known concept of his theoretical framework (Santrock,
Mackenzie Rivers, Pangman, 2017; Woolfolk, Winne, Perry, 2016; Ylvisaker Feeney, 2009). In
the follow paragraphs, I will brief explain this concept, clarify how it closely relates to individual
daily life, and discuss the limit of this notion with reflect on my personal experience.
Vygotsky s concept of ZPD refers to the range of difficulties which children are unable to master
alone, but they could solve independently if adults or more mature peers provide the appropriate
support (Jahoda, Dagnan, Stenfert Kroese, Pert, Trower, 2009; Santrock, Mackenzie Rivers,
Pangman, 2017; Woolfolk, Winne, Perry, 2016). In teaching, the ZPD typifies the theoretical space
between what students already knew and what students are not ready to learn (Santrock,
Mackenzie Rivers, Pangman, 2017; Woolfolk, Winne, Perry, 2016). Two borders of this space are
represented as the lower limit of ZPD (e.g. the difficulties which children are able to master alone,
what students already knew), and the upper limit of

Introduction
In this investigation, I will consider these sets of numbers that are present in a symmetrical pattern.
To commence this task, we will have to consider the five rows of numbers shown below. 11
13/21
16/46/41
110/710/610/71
115/1115/915/915/111
Figure 1: The given symmetrical pattern
These numbers are arranged in a Pascal s triangle, which is a triangular array of binomial
coefficients that was named after a French mathematician Blaise Pascal. Lascap s Fraction is spelt
backwards for Pascal s fraction and there should be a way to solve this. There is an interesting
pattern in figure one where in the 1st row, there are two numbers and in the 2nd row, 3 numbers in
the 3rd row, and so forth. So through this, we know that there is a new number introduced in every
consecutive row. But there is an easier way to represent this pattern and to solve for the Pascal s
triangle is by using this formula.
〖(x+y)〗^n=(n¦0) x^n y^0+(n¦1) x^n y^1+(n¦2) x^(n 2) y^2+⋯+(n¦(n 1)) x^1 y^(n
1)+(n¦n) x^0 y^n
If there happens to be a formula for Pascal s fraction, then there should be a formula for tis
Lascap s Fraction. The first thing we will need to investigate is to describe how to find the
numerator of the sixth row. This could be solved by adding the row number with the previous

Technology s Control Over Society Illustrated in Aldus...
Technology is defined as using the entire body of science, methods, and materials to achieve an

The author Aldus Huxley set the world in the future where everything is being controlled by
technology. Even the new born are controlled way before they were born. This is a scary society
because everything is being controlled even before someone is born, in a test tube, where they
get to be determine of what class they are going to belong, how they are going to look like and

in the future the lack of ethics allows this to be a normal procedure. Each of the characters in
Brave New World lacks an important human characteristic, individuality. I feel individuality is
one of the most important things that defines us as humans, we were each created differently,
and, like a snow flake, no two people are alike. In the future, due to the advent of genetic

I feel that Eddy s beliefs are supported by Huxley s novel Brave New World. Without humanities,
Huxley s future thought only of the end and not of the means, there was no concern for life and
each life lacked individuality. I think the most unnerving part of this is I see many similarities
between Brave New World and the present and today s social tendencies. That is the main
difference in the world of today and before.
Finally, in the novel Brave New

Bruce Lee s Impact on American Media
42 years after his death, Bruce Lee is still viewed as the greatest icon of martial arts cinema. His
philosophy and charisma made him legend amongst popular culture. It s arguable whether or not
the martial arts film genre would have survived in American Cinema without Bruce Lee and his

apparent. Bruce Lee has become a household name, like Mickey Mouse and The Beatles.

Korematsu Versus the United States
In the landmark case of Korematsu v. United States the Supreme Court was correct in the ruling
because the executive order that was issued became a law to protect the country from persons that
had close ethnic ties to the enemy and made all people that the government deemed a threat to
national security into prisoners. Although this was against moral standards, it was a necessity at the
time to protect the country. While it may seem that it was just the Japanese that were prosecuted, it
was also Americans of German and Italian heritage that were also persecuted. This executive order
infringed on the rights of American citizens based on their ethnic background. This isn t right
because as said in the constitution everyone has the right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.

How To Collect Replica Coins
If you re looking for a fun hobby to do with your kids, you may want to look into collecting
replica coins. This is an interesting and fun hobby for kids who enjoy history or who identify
with certain periods of time such as the biblical era or the Old West. Here are some things you
may want to know about collecting replica coins. Replica Coins Are Very Close To The
Originals Replica coins are fun to own because they look almost exactly like the real thing. This
whisks you back in time or to a far off place where the coins were originally used. Replicas aren t
exact duplicates because that would be counterfeiting. Also, various coin collecting
organizations have regulations that coin makers tend to comply with that identify a replica
coin. The wording may be slightly different or the coin size may be larger or smaller. This

Club Drugs Essay
It s 6 o clock on a Saturday morning and while some teenagers are enjoying the extra hours of
sleep, many are still bouncing around to the sounds of techno music. Thousands of teenagers and
even some adults gather into clubs decorated with black lights, disco balls, and tons of smoke
machines. Their hearts are pounding and their pulse is racing at the speed of light, all compliments
of designer drugs known as club drugs (National Institute on DrugAbuse). Changing the molecular
structure of an existing drug or drugs to create a new substance creates designer drugs (Kusinitz

Ecstasy is a combination of other illicit drugs. Because many different recipes are used to make
Ecstasy, the risk of death and permanent brain damage are heightened when some substances
are combined (NIDA). The bottom line with this drug is you never know what is in the $5 $20
pill you just bought, so the safest bet would be to do without it. The use of Ecstasy has led to
more powerful drugs such as Ketamine, known on the streets as Special K, or K. Special K
emerged as a recreational drug in the 1970 s and was known as Vitamin K in the underground
club scene in the 1980 s (Kusinitz 44). It resurfaced in the 1990 s as Special K in the rave scene
(45). Normally found in an injectable form, it is converted to powder and re packaged into small
ziplock bags or capsules (46). This powerful hallucinogen is generally snorted, and is
occasionally sprinkled on tobacco or marijuana and smoked (NIDA). Special K is usually
combined with other drugs, such as Ecstasy or cocaine, to enhance the high. The high, called the
K Hole , can last anywhere from 30 minutes to 2 hours and can produce hallucinations that
include visual distortions and a lost sense of time and identity (NIDA). Sold by the vials, K runs
around $10 $30 and is available widely throughout raves (Mass 16). The most common form of
hallucinogen and the easiest to get at raves, is LSD. Commonly known as acid , it is sold for $3 $5

Cell Theory Evolution
Biologists use the ideas of cell theory, hereditary and genetics, and evolution through natural
selection in many different ways. While being very different areas of study, they all share a core
idea. This idea is that cells duplicate, and sometimes experience random mutations. From this
very basic idea, scientists can theorize that all life on earth came from one or a few very simple
cells, and are related through this. But the diversity of life today also shows how these related cell
groups evolved and changed.
Cell theory is the scientific knowledge that cells can only come from other cells. Years ago, when
the idea of spontaneous generation was disproved, a new theory came into play and allowed
scientists to learn that cells split and duplicate, sometimes experiencing random genetic mutations.
This led to the question: if all cells come from other cells, then where did the very first cell come
from? Some scientists believe that perhaps spontaneous generation happened once, billions of years
ago, to start the chain of life. Others theorize that the first cells came from an asteroid from another
planet. The first cells split and grew and split and grew, until they started to mutate and... Show

History books have called Joseph Smith an American religious leader who founded the modern
day Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (LDS). This religious institution is based on
Smiths visions and the followers of the LDS church are called Mormon s. His vision was for the
restoration of the early Christian church and a new way of life to live by. While Smith visions
and ethics have been controversial at times, millions still follow his teachings and the religious
culture he started in 1830. Today the Mormon Church has over 15 million followers and has

This was because of the controversial views from the main stream Christian beliefs at the time
and lack of diversity in the era of early religion in America. According to Thomas N. Barnes
Center (2012a) the diversity Smith faced caused an ethical dilemma on which way to handle
this situation. Instead of giving to the main stream religion of the era, Smith moved his new
church and followers west to so they could continue to follow what they believed and the vision
Smith had instilled in them. (p. LM01SG 5) However, ultimately in 1844 Joseph Smith was
jailed in Illinois because of his teachings and beliefs and was shot to death during a jail mob.
Joseph Smith Jr. was only 38 years old at the time of his death, but his teachings and beliefs of
the Mormon Church still endure today. (Joseph Smith). His vision has been controversial at times,
but none the less, millions still follow his vision and the religious culture which Smith started
continues to endure and grow in this present day all over the world. Ethical Leader Ultimately
Joseph Smith Jr. was murdered because the main stream Christians in the 1800 s did not believe
his values and beliefs were ethical. However, even though his teachings and beliefs were
considered taboo to some then, they have endured to become and build one the largest church s in

resources are available but does not link the need for research to the amount budgeted.
Departmental budgeting allocates a portion of total expenditures in the unit to research activities.

The Large Bathers Essay
Paul CГ©zanne was an Impressionist painter that helped bridge the gap between Impressionism
and Cubism. Both Henri Matisse and Pablo Picasso said he was The father to us all .(Paul
CГ©zanne, 2016) Both artists took inspiration from the CГ©zanne s painting The Large Bathers
and made paintings of their own from the ideas CГ©zanne started.
The Large Bathers show us a scene of women bathing in a river. The colors we see are mostly blue
with some browns and greens mixed in. It s thought that this painting was unfinished as CГ©zanne
died in 1906, and you can see some of the figures in the bottom right seem incomplete. Matisse
took the idea of bathing women but added his own signature color schemes. In Bonheur de Vivre
he used bright primary colors to pull focus to the figures, while CГ©zanne used perspective to
bring focus. Matisse s painting lacks any normal perspective, figures appear next to ... Show more

Les Demoiselles d Avignon was painted in 1907 and translates to The Young Ladies of Avignon,
a brothel. He returned to CГ©zanne s color palette with browns and blues to tone down the joy

world around them. While Matisse used open space, Picasso made the background come to the
foreground with no perspective being used at all, this makes the painting look flat and the ladies
become the focus. The figures are also very angular and do not show off a sensual human body
like Matisse does. The figures on the right have very odd looking faces, which Picasso was
pulling from African art. (Harris Zucker, n.d.) So Picasso was incorporating even more influences
into a reaction of other paintings. Matisse and Picasso were both pushing each other into new

North American Martyrs Reflection
On October 5, 2016, I attended Mass at Strake Jesuit for the commemoration of the North
American Martyrs. Because every student and faculty member attended the Mass, the Parsley

every student with a coat and tie. The choir, the Triple Trios, provided amazing vocals to
accompany the solemnity of the occasion. Although I had been to two previous celebrations of the
North American Martyrs, I never paid attention to the specific details of this Mass, which followed
the liturgical rite. From the red vestments to the vivid story telling homily, Father Johnson overtly
represented the martyrdom of the eight Jesuits and delivered an awe inspiring speech... Show more

Eat This Now Analysis
America, an Obese Nation
The choices American s make about their eating habits has drastically changed over time. Today
America is an obese nation, because food is everywhere: at the grocery store, on billboard signs,
or even at the hardware store. There are statistics that prove America is an obese nation, the
public just has to go search for those. Many diets and experts have tips to give to help American s
and others lose weight. This is the point that Susan Brink and Elizabeth Querna are trying to get
across in their article, Eat this Now. Within the article, the two go in to detail about how Americans
eat all the time. Brink and Querna s article really bring to light the problems that American s have

The eating habits that Americans have are either healthy or unhealthy. The healthy individuals
are probably the ones that work out, eat the right foods, and watch their daily consumption.
While the unhealthy ones are probably, just eating whatever is in their face at the time, drive
everywhere, and don t watch their daily intake. Because of this fact, it is easy to see why obesity
is becoming a huge part in the nation. The authors are trying to prove that Americans eat
everywhere, all day long an average of five meals a day, including snacks (2012, p. 621). Many
people don t think they are actually eating a lot because their proportion size is smaller than a
normal meal but if someone were to look back in the past they would find that the size would be
much smaller. There are many consequences that come from being obese, the authors only use one
but it is one that really puts a prospective on things. Obesity already reduces the current life
expectancy in the United States by four to nine months...Obesity rates among children and teens
could knock off as many as five years from todays average of 77 (2012, p. 620). Knowing this
statistic helps the reader, look at their own life and think about what they could do better. The

Examples Of Freedom In The Giver
Freedom is something that has been absent in Jonas s community. When he becomes receiver he
realizes what it would be like to be free. Jonas responds to this by saying that freedom will be
dangerous. There are some good things about being being free, but there are also some bad
things. Danger is not something we usually associate with freedom, but they are more related
than we thought. Some good things that will come of not being free is that you have a very low
chance of failing. For example, In The Giver, the children are assigned a job to do at age 12. It is
hard to mess up a job that you are carefully chosen for. When Jonas asked his father, Were any of
the elevens disappointed your year? He replied with No, I don t think so. Of

So you don t have time to attend a Time Management seminar, then here are four ideas to help
you create a more productive day. First, the key to such a day is to create more discretionary
time and use it more wisely. Second, remember you are not paid for work, you are paid for
results. Third, you need to control your day instead of it controlling you. The number one idea
is to begin by analyzing your typical day. To do this you need to do a simple Time Log. This is
done by taking an 8.5 x 11 sheet of paper and numbering each line in fifteen minute increments
starting with the time you arrive at work. (Note; do not start when you are supposed to be there but
when you actually arrive.) Then, throughout the day, record your activities. You need to do this for
two weeks. Then, look for time wasters and ways to create more discretionary time.
There are two kinds of time; discretionary meaning you have a choice of how to spend it, and non
discretionary that which is taken up by job functions, meetings, and appointment. Your time

The Social Cognitive Theory Of Ptsd
CPT is based on the social cognitive theory of PTSD. This theory focuses on how the traumatic
event is understood and how it is being coped with by the client who is struggling to regain
control over his or her life. CPT also refers to the emotional processing theory of PTSD which is
an extension of information processing theory by Foa, Steketee, and Rothbaum (Mullen, Holliday,
Morris, Raja, and SurГs 2014). This theory states PTSD emerges from the development of fear in
one s memory that creates avoidancebehavior and provokes one to escape these memories. Mental
fear builds stimuli, responses, and meaning elements (Mullen, Holliday, Morris, Raja, and SurГs
2014). Therefore anything that is associated with the trauma may provoke fear that leads to the
concept of escaping and avoidance behavior. In individuals with PTSD, the fear is known to be
easily accessible. When the fear is activated by the reminders of one s trauma, one builds intrusive
symptoms due to the information trying to process and enter one s consciousness. In order for an
individual to avoid these feelings and thoughts, one tries to avoid it which leads to the avoidance
symptoms of PTSD which include yet are not limited to depression, alienation (Mullen, Holliday,
Morris, Raja, and SurГs 2014). Emotional Processing Theory states the repetitive exposure of
trauma in a safe environment such as a therapeutic setting, helps reduce PTSD symptoms by
calming and addressing one s fear (Mullen, Holliday, Morris,

Argumentative Essay On Christopher Columbus Day
In 1492, Christopher Columbus sailed the ocean and discovered what we now know as the
Americas... or so it s been taught. In all actuality, there were already Native people who had been
living in the continents for thousands of years. Since 1937, the US has used this discovery as a
holiday known as Columbus Day to celebrate a man who established the beginning of colonization
of the New World. While Columbus did begin the colonization of the Americas, he was not the one
who discovered them. History tends to be told from the privileged perspective which is why it s
taught that Columbus discovered these lands. The celebration of Columbus Day promotes the idea
of colonization and the marginalization of Native Americans; people also believe it... Show more

In fact, he had reached the Taino island of Guanahani, which is now modern day San Salvador.
Because Columbus believed he was in India, he named the Indigenous people, Native Indians.
While he was not in India, the name of the Indigenous people remained. While some Natives today
are okay with the term American Indian , some also believe that the term Indian is not okay because
they are not from the country of India (Blackhorse, 2017). Whether or not the terminology is
offensive, the moment Columbus landed, the establishment of marginalization and racism toward
Indigenous people of the land began. Celebrating Columbus with Columbus day is essentially
honoring racism.
Racism is defined as prejudice, discrimination, or antagonism directed against someone of a
different race based on the belief that one s own race is superior. While it may not be super
obvious today, there are offensive, discriminatory stereotypes and terms used against Natives
today. One example is the use of the racial slur Redskin as the mascot of the Washington NFL
team. The racial slur was used during a time when people would be paid to kill Native Americans
(referred to as Redskins) and this is representation of how those terms can be present in today s
society. As a country, Columbus Day is celebrated to commemorate the discovery of America and to
honor the relationship between the US and Italy, but at what cost? The truth of Columbus influence

  • 2. Beauty Of Yellowstone Research Paper Beauty of Yellowstone When I was a little girl my grandparents went on a trip out west. They flew to Colorado and from there they began their road trip through the vast wilderness of the Rocky Mountains. They came home and told me stories of the great, beautiful mountains and about all the beautiful farms and wildlife. Of all the stories they told me, the one that stood out the most was the day they visited Yellowstone National Park. The moment I heard their story, I knew I had to visit there one day. Hearing about Yellowstone s variation of wildlife, Old Faithful, and nature has made Yellowstone the number one place I would like to visit. Yellowstone is one place where I can see bears, eagles, snakes, and caribou all in one day. They have ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Designing A Life For Creating Others Experiences Designing One s Life to Create Others Experiences Throughout the world, the voice of Andrea Bocelli permeates the ears of millions of people in multiple countries leaving all who hear with fond memories. Boasting of more than 80 million record sales around the world, Bocelli s music tops classical and pop charts. Though, while Bocelli started his singing career during his childhood, even winning a singing competition at the age of 14, his professional singing career did not start until after a short time in another career. In 1980, after he finished his undergraduate, he attended the University of Pisa, where he studied law. He went on to work as a court appointed attorney for that first year after he graduated from law school. Much like Bocelli, Sean Van Tyne noted author, speaker, and consultant on customer experience and related topics studied a subject not related to that for which he found his passion. Van Tyne holds a BFA in Painting and a Master s in Education, which he used to begin his career painting fine art and teaching. He spent his days in the studio and afternoons as Artist in Residence through the Aesthetic Education Institute. Then, when he and his wife decided to start a family, he sought another career that used similar creative problem solving skills he loved about art. As more and more people started interacting online, in the 1990 s, he worked in database architecture, network architecture, web development and design, information architecture, ... • 4. Atyotypical BCR-ABL Translocation This paper is a short case study focused on a patient with an atypical BCR ABL translocation in CML. The 80 year old male patient presented with a history of two months of worsening fatigue, weakness, shortness of breath and weight loss. Blood tests showed mild anemia, normal platelets, and leukocytosis with elevated myelocytes and metamyelocytes. The bone marrowaspirate showed a hypercellular marrow with 90% myeloid cells, but no myeloblasts. A karyotype was performed on the cells from the marrow aspirate; it revealed the Philadelphia chromosome translocation. This confirmed the diagnosis of CML. Further PCR study was done on the patient s RNA and it revealed an atypical band on the gel. This band was purified from the gel and sequenced. It revealed the rare presence of the e1a3 BCR ABL exon combination.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This absence predisposes the patient s cells to growth factor independence and therefore transformation. Another aspect of the transformation of note is that the proliferation takes longer due to slower leukemogenesis. This gives this disease an indolent course, which makes it particularly difficult to detect. The patient in this case was put on 400mg of Imatinib daily. The CML responded well to the treatment, the patient s blood and marrow studies normalized. However, after five months the patient developed a lymphoid blast crisis. Bone marrow studies showed 94% lymphoid blast ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Kincaid Girl In a stream of authoritative orders of domestic chores, appearance, and behavior, a female in the short story, Girl , depicts her overwhelmingly self conscious actions during her repetitive inner dialogue. All the necessary knowledge and skills the girl must know is a reflection of society s requirements for womento avoid shame. However, her effort in maintaining a perfect appearance may not guarantee a respectful standing in society. The author, Kincaid, sheds light on society s judgmental and demanding expectations towards girls through repetition, symbolism, and imagery. The narrator of The Girl suggests that women must obediently perform her duties regardless of her feelings and her need for respect. Throughout the entire story, there is a repetition of imperatives that do not contain any polite diction, such as please. Additionally, due to the absence of pronouns in the list of commands, the narrator s tone is similar to that of a master or higher authority speaking to someone of insignificant status. Wash the clothes and don t walk barehead[ed] are examples of how the narrator repeatedly states orders that feels stifling. Consequently, the condescending tone in The Girl highlights the perception of women in society a maid whose name or emotions is not even worthwhile to learn or acknowledge. ... Therefore, the flower represents women s fragility towards anything that could pose a threat even if the threat is unreasonable; for instance, getting sick from a flower. Furthermore, a clean house, clean clothes, and a well hemmed and buttoned dress represent the girl s desire to appear virtuous, even if internally, she isn t because of a pregnancy out of ... To optimize the properties of nano material and atomic level needs an elemental probe with resolution of 1nm. The nano scale probe helpful to provide the reproducible control over defects. The production of x rays by relativistic electrons in accelerators is about 60 years old. The accelerator facilities used as synchrotron radiation sources have advanced significantly over the years, growing in utility to become a premier research tool for the study of materials. The combination of high stability X ray optics and precision motion sensing and control enables detailed studies of the internal features of samples with a resolution approaching 30 nm. The Hard X ray Nano probe is a combination scanning probe and full п¬Ѓeld imaging microscope for fluorescence mapping, nano diffraction and transmission imaging. Future improvements in X ray optics fabrication and precision sensing and motion control will be incorporated into the beam line to enable imaging at a resolution approaching 10 nm [1]. X Ray Fluorescence Microscopy (XFM): The basic principle behind the X ray Fluorescence microscopy (XFM) is the exposure of X ray beam on the sample. The technique is employed to establish the elemental concentrations for wide range of samples in multiple locations of cells and tissue samples. It has excellent sensitivity for the detection of trace elements. This technique is enabling to image the whole cell along with the quantification of elements on the per cell basis. This is because of the large penetration depth of the hard X rays used. Cryogenic approach is used to investigate the samples in their natural or hydrated state. • 7. Differences Between Christianity And Christianity Today in our modernized world, religions can be found almost anywhere. Religions like Buddhism, Taoism, Hinduism, or Islam constantly shape our world by inspiring many people every day from every walk of life to follow and pursue the never ending spiritual path to righteousness and salvation. Despite these big foreign religions, there is another type of religion which branches into several smaller versions which attracts much of the American public. This religion is called Christianityand within Christianity is several smaller branches like, Methodism, Baptism, or Episcopalian but; two of the biggest branches of this complex religion are Catholicism and Protestantism. If one were to closely examine these two faiths then they will find that they both have the same objective which is to lead more people to God. However, there are many differences between these two multifarious faiths. Differences between these two faiths include differences in their origins, how these two faiths came into existence. There are also smaller differences that exist, for example the use of holy water, celibacy and nuns, the use of communion, belief in purgatory, and use of scriptures. Despite these smaller differences one can clearly see the two of the major differences that truly make these two faiths completely differential. Two of the major differences that exist between these two faiths are the belief of how one will acquire salvation and what the afterlife will be like. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. Examples Of Semiotic Analysis 1. Introduction and Background In this essay I will evaluate the various components used to construct meaning in Figure 1 by means of a semiotic analysis. I will discuss the theory of certain semiotic concepts and apply them to Figure 1 throughout the text. The image in Figure 1 delivers a visual message and it is supported by illustrated text, three captions, and two logos. The knowledge necessary to interpret the illustration is knowledge of writing and English (Barthes 1977: 153). This logo challenges the morals of the viewer and is used to illicit a guilty response (Bailey 2007: 44, 50). Connotatively6 this sign can imply that, unlike animals, the reader does not have a heart until he/she embraces a vegetarian diet. This connotation contradicts the primary phrase in Figure 1; All animals have the same parts . • 10. Rocket Launcher Lab Report In this lab, it was found that the rocket launcher can be launched in many different ways. It was found that the rocket launcher flights higher or goes further with the less amount of clay. I believe that that s right because the more you add clay, the more it makes it heavier. When I put 1.49 grams of clay, it turned out to be 16 meters and that was the highest. The experiment was completed using clay, rocketlauncher, and a measuring wheel. These materials are used in order to see what happens when it flies higher. My hypothesis was right because I said that if we put the least amount of clay in the straw, it will go further. It was proven right because putting less clay on a straw would make it less heavy and lighter. The procedure shows every step, for example, you need to put 1.49 grams of clay on the straw...... In this lab, we are trying to test different variables in order to figure out which one will fly further. We had to drop weight from a high thing. This is what made it fly further. The experiment results showed that the less cay you put, the further it will go. I believe this is right because if we add a lot of clay onto the straw, it will add more weight to the straw, therefore, it will fall easily. So in the end, the straw with 1.49 grams of clay flew the furthest than all of them. The pattern was for every trial the less clay one always had the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Within my assignment I will be explaining possible priorities and responses when dealing with two incidents or emergencies in a health and social care setting. I will be discussing health, safety or security concerns that may arise from the incident or emergency. Then I will be discussing how I would respond to them. An incident is defined as a relatively insignificant event that might have serious consequences. (Collins, 2014).... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As soon as possible I would then write what happened down in an incident book because if anything major was to go wrong with Anna and I missed something out in the incident book, I could be blamed for mistreating Anna, so I ensure I write down as much detail as I can. I chose to do this because because Anna s safety comes first. My last priority is to ensure that all the residents in the home receive the right care and all medication is given accordingly to the client s needs and to ensure that staff is giving the right doses to the right clients. This is an important thing to do because it s going to minimise any incidents in relation to the client s health for example an overdose or incorrect medication. • 14. Summary Of Conflict In Dostoevsky s Cuckoolsky Part II: Close Reading/ Literary Term Analysis 1st Entry: Part I (Conflict) Conflict: Conflict is a struggle that happens between two opposing forces. There are two main types of conflict, internal and external. Internal conflict is the struggle between man and himself. External struggles include man versus man, man versus nature and man versus society. Example: I wonder what people are most afraid of? I babble too much... maybe I babble because I don t do anything. I ve learned to babble over this past month, lying in a corner, thinking about... Cuckooland. Why on earth am I going now? Am I really capable of that? (4). Function: In the first few pages of the novel, the author establishes the mental state that Raskolnikov is in and his constant self doubt that he faces. By using internal conflict, Dostoevsky can show the way Raskolnikov is constantly questioning himself, his preparation for his crime and how he might react in the aftermath of committing his crime. In the opening paragraphs of Crime and Punishment, readers can see Raskolnikov questioning himself and going back and forth about every thought that enters his mind. These thoughts include what people are afraid of, whether he babbles too much, why he babbles and when and why he is going to Cuckooland. By vividly describing the internal conflict that Raskolnikov is facing, readers are able to establish a sense of how Raskolnikov handles situations and his thought process. By establishing this now, Dostoevsky gets ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

A skilled author can use small vignettes to relate instances of character development that can be used to infer a relationship with the character. These passages can be a line or two, but can carry the weight of a full chapter if executed properly. Will Weaver paints an idyllic farm scene in A Gravestone Made of Wheat, featuring a full cast of traditional characters. When the letters finally arrive, and still Inge is denied citizenship, the frustration shared between the couple reaches a tipping point. Yet still, the couple remains steadfast in their decision to remain apart before marriage. This display of strength, in the face of an illogical system stands to prove the traditional nature of both Inge and Olaf. While much of the story is dedicated to the portrayal of Olaf and Inge as traditional old country farm type, there is much to be said for their radical attitudes. While the couple did decide to remain abstinent during the initial naturalization process, Inge and Olaf did live in close enough quarters to raise the eyebrows of a stark traditionalist. Olaf bathes bare chested in full view of his admiring wife, and Inge catches Olaf admiring her looks as she cooks breakfast for him. The couple falls madly in love with each other as they wait to marry, and their traditional defenses slowly slip away. They stay up late at night, with nobody else around, to talk and spend time in the other s company. When Inge is required by the judge to wait a year before he will approve her naturalization, Inge breaks the barrier surrounding their relationship; first in the courthouse, where she gives up on the systematic exclusion, and then further in the hayloft where she lies with Olaf for the first time. • 18. Four Freedoms Speech Freedom is something that many people take for granted. Having freedom allows you to make your own decisions. Many people abuse their rights by making bad choices. It is important to appreciate the rights you have because not everyone around the world has freedom. During Franklin Delano Roosevelt s Four Freedoms Speech, he lists the four essential human freedoms. First, people should have freedom of speech and expression which means that people should have the right to say what is on their mind and to say things that can help others. Second, people need to worship God in his own way everywhere in the world meaning people can choose their religion and do what their God wants them to. Third, everyone should have economic understandings to allow them to have everything that is necessary in life. Fourth, everybody should be able to live their life without worrying about what someone might do to harm them. In John F. Kennedy s inaugural address, he says, if a free society cannot help the many who are poor, it cannot save the few who are rich. He also states the importance of helping others around the world who do not have freedom. John F. Kennedy wanted to create peace with all nations before everything would be destroyed by a nuclear war. Lastly, he tells the citizens of the United States and other people from different nations that they have the ability to determine their own success or failure. When Malala Yousafzai spoke at the United Nations, she talked about the rights that everyone should have. She cares about others rights and not just her own. Malala wants people to remember that Malala Day is not my day. Today is the day of every woman, every boy, and every girl who have raised their voices for their rights. Many people who do not have freedom are fighting for their rights including: their right to live in peace, their right to be treated with dignity, their right to equality of opportunity, and their right to be educated. When Malala was shot by the Taliban, she said that they were hoping to silence people who wanted more rights, but it actually caused more people to speak up and gave them strength, power, and courage. • 24. Assimilation, Amalgamation, And Accommodation With over seventy five million immigrants coming into the United States since it first became a nation, several theories have resulted. This chapter looks at assimilation, amalgamation, and accommodation. The values of the dominant culture includes how those in America should look, speak, and act. However, when these standards are not met by the immigrants it becomes difficult for them to fit in comfortably. On the other hand, diversity allows for greater possibilities and unexpected relationships to form. First, assimilation is discussed as immigrants forming within the dominant groups, without any differences being seen. The minority conforms to the standards of society and leaves behind their cultural and social differences. Therefore, when it comes to physical appearance, it does not bother the dominant group because all other aspects of them already conformed. Throughout the eighteenth century, the English decent played a tremendous role in the developing this newly discovered nation s culture. Although people tried to get away from this English culture during the nineteenth century, it shortly returned and the Angelo Saxon heritage became the standard for minorities. To persevere this standard, schools were the main influence in getting rid of cultural differences among individuals. Cultural assimilation, as explained by Milton Gordon is one important phase of assimilation. This is where cultural patterns of the minorities change to mirror those of the dominant ... In addition many of the medicine available today either only treats the symptom or cures the disease with the addition of unwanted side effects. • 33. Overview Of The Socio-Cultural Cognitive Theory Of Lev... The socio cultural cognitive theory of Lev Vygotsky emphasizes children s cognitive development cannot be understood apart from cultural settings, and social interactions and activities shape their ways to construct knowledge (Jahoda, Dagnan, Stenfert Kroese, Pert, Trower, 2009; Santrock, Mackenzie Rivers, Pangman, 2017; Woolfolk, Winne, Perry, 2016). The notion of the zone of proximal development(ZPD) is a well known concept of his theoretical framework (Santrock, Mackenzie Rivers, Pangman, 2017; Woolfolk, Winne, Perry, 2016; Ylvisaker Feeney, 2009). In the follow paragraphs, I will brief explain this concept, clarify how it closely relates to individual daily life, and discuss the limit of this notion with reflect on my personal experience. Vygotsky s concept of ZPD refers to the range of difficulties which children are unable to master alone, but they could solve independently if adults or more mature peers provide the appropriate support (Jahoda, Dagnan, Stenfert Kroese, Pert, Trower, 2009; Santrock, Mackenzie Rivers, Pangman, 2017; Woolfolk, Winne, Perry, 2016). In teaching, the ZPD typifies the theoretical space between what students already knew and what students are not ready to learn (Santrock, Mackenzie Rivers, Pangman, 2017; Woolfolk, Winne, Perry, 2016). Two borders of this space are represented as the lower limit of ZPD (e.g. the difficulties which children are able to master alone, what students already knew), and the upper limit of ... Questions On The s Total Rows Of Numbers Lascap s Fraction Arshbir Aulakh Math IA 000277 0 International Baccalaureate Sir Winston Churchill Secondary Introduction In this investigation, I will consider these sets of numbers that are present in a symmetrical pattern. To commence this task, we will have to consider the five rows of numbers shown below. 11 13/21 16/46/41 110/710/610/71 115/1115/915/915/111 Figure 1: The given symmetrical pattern These numbers are arranged in a Pascal s triangle, which is a triangular array of binomial coefficients that was named after a French mathematician Blaise Pascal. Lascap s Fraction is spelt backwards for Pascal s fraction and there should be a way to solve this. There is an interesting pattern in figure one where in the 1st row, there are two numbers and in the 2nd row, 3 numbers in the 3rd row, and so forth. So through this, we know that there is a new number introduced in every consecutive row. But there is an easier way to represent this pattern and to solve for the Pascal s triangle is by using this formula. гЂ–(x+y)гЂ—^n=(nВ¦0) x^n y^0+(nВ¦1) x^n y^1+(nВ¦2) x^(n 2) y^2+в‹Ї+(nВ¦(n 1)) x^1 y^(n 1)+(nВ¦n) x^0 y^n If there happens to be a formula for Pascal s fraction, then there should be a formula for tis Lascap s Fraction. The first thing we will need to investigate is to describe how to find the numerator of the sixth row. This could be solved by adding the row number with the previous ... Here are some things you may want to know about collecting replica coins. Replica Coins Are Very Close To The Originals Replica coins are fun to own because they look almost exactly like the real thing. This whisks you back in time or to a far off place where the coins were originally used. Replicas aren t exact duplicates because that would be counterfeiting. Also, various coin collecting organizations have regulations that coin makers tend to comply with that identify a replica coin. The wording may be slightly different or the coin size may be larger or smaller. This eliminates confusion over whether the coin is real when it comes to placing a value on it. • 42. Cell Theory Evolution Biologists use the ideas of cell theory, hereditary and genetics, and evolution through natural selection in many different ways. While being very different areas of study, they all share a core idea. This idea is that cells duplicate, and sometimes experience random mutations. From this very basic idea, scientists can theorize that all life on earth came from one or a few very simple cells, and are related through this. But the diversity of life today also shows how these related cell groups evolved and changed. Cell theory is the scientific knowledge that cells can only come from other cells. Years ago, when the idea of spontaneous generation was disproved, a new theory came into play and allowed scientists to learn that cells split and duplicate, sometimes experiencing random genetic mutations. This led to the question: if all cells come from other cells, then where did the very first cell come from? Some scientists believe that perhaps spontaneous generation happened once, billions of years ago, to start the chain of life. Others theorize that the first cells came from an asteroid from another planet. The first cells split and grew and split and grew, until they started to mutate and... First, the key to such a day is to create more discretionary time and use it more wisely. Second, remember you are not paid for work, you are paid for results. Third, you need to control your day instead of it controlling you. The number one idea is to begin by analyzing your typical day. To do this you need to do a simple Time Log. This is done by taking an 8.5 x 11 sheet of paper and numbering each line in fifteen minute increments starting with the time you arrive at work. • 52. The Social Cognitive Theory Of Ptsd CPT is based on the social cognitive theory of PTSD. This theory focuses on how the traumatic event is understood and how it is being coped with by the client who is struggling to regain control over his or her life. CPT also refers to the emotional processing theory of PTSD which is an extension of information processing theory by Foa, Steketee, and Rothbaum (Mullen, Holliday, Morris, Raja, and SurГs 2014). This theory states PTSD emerges from the development of fear in one s memory that creates avoidancebehavior and provokes one to escape these memories. Mental fear builds stimuli, responses, and meaning elements (Mullen, Holliday, Morris, Raja, and SurГs 2014). Therefore anything that is associated with the trauma may provoke fear that leads to the concept of escaping and avoidance behavior. In individuals with PTSD, the fear is known to be easily accessible. When the fear is activated by the reminders of one s trauma, one builds intrusive symptoms due to the information trying to process and enter one s consciousness. In order for an individual to avoid these feelings and thoughts, one tries to avoid it which leads to the avoidance symptoms of PTSD which include yet are not limited to depression, alienation (Mullen, Holliday, Morris, Raja, and SurГs 2014). Emotional Processing Theory states the repetitive exposure of trauma in a safe environment such as a therapeutic setting, helps reduce PTSD symptoms by calming and addressing one s fear (Mullen, Holliday, Morris, ... While Columbus did begin the colonization of the Americas, he was not the one who discovered them. History tends to be told from the privileged perspective which is why it s taught that Columbus discovered these lands. While he was not in India, the name of the Indigenous people remained. While some Natives today are okay with the term American Indian , some also believe that the term Indian is not okay because they are not from the country of India (Blackhorse, 2017). Whether or not the terminology is offensive, the moment Columbus landed, the establishment of marginalization and racism toward Indigenous people of the land began. Celebrating Columbus with Columbus day is essentially honoring racism. Racism is defined as prejudice, discrimination, or antagonism directed against someone of a different race based on the belief that one s own race is superior. While it may not be super obvious today, there are offensive, discriminatory stereotypes and terms used against Natives today. One example is the use of the racial slur Redskin as the mascot of the Washington NFL team. The racial slur was used during a time when people would be paid to kill Native Americans (referred to as Redskins) and this is representation of how those terms can be present in today s society. As a country, Columbus Day is celebrated to commemorate the discovery of America and to honor the relationship between the US and Italy, but at what cost? The truth of Columbus influence on ...
