naivety of a young girl named Vanessa who spent her days fantasizing about native american

Laurence employs this idea through the loss and mourning of her two main characters. Through
Vanessa McLeod and Piquette Tonnerres she shows how one individual s perpetual need of

dominant society on the prior inhabitants of the land and how it relates to a feeling loss and

Although Laurence does not say so directly, she tries to get the reader to notice that the loons and
Piquette are foils of each other. I agree with what she is saying in that she utilizes Piquette to
represent the cause and effect that actions have on lesser represented groups.The loons lived a
simple existence at Diamond Lake up until the day where the government made Galloping
Mountain into a national park. They re named the lake to Wapakata as they felt it would have
greater appeal to tourists. As a result, this caused the once majestic and abundant loon population to
disappear from the lake. Their Plaintive song to never be sung on those waters again.
Laurence adds this violation and disappearance of the loons to illuminate, for the narrator

knowledge is done through a philosophical method. There are four basic theories of learning; those
are behaviorism, cognitivism, constructivism, and humanism; this paper will address these four
theories of learning, in addition, we will address principles of learning, schema and scaffolding,
adaption, metacognition, and strategies to ensure learning success.
The term behaviorism refers to the school of psychology founded by John B. Watson. Behaviorism
theory is based on the idea that behaviors can be measured, trained, and changed. In D. A.
Lieberman s book Psychology of learning (2012, Ch. 2.3), he states, Watson believed that
psychologists should be concerned with overt behavior rather than the hidden processes of the

In fact there is evidence of this happening, as a police officer in Michigan states we are told to go
to specific intersections, in specific areas, to get our numbers up (Wells). So what has been used
to increase productivity, has now become racial profiling. These intersections they talk about,
are neighborhoods with a majority of minorities. Police officers, with struggling number for
quotas, know that most of them won t have driver s license, that most won t try to go to court to
debate the legitimacy as they can t afford an attorney, so it becomes an easy way to rack up
numbers. However, this creates bigger problems, as most of them get the ticket and move on by,
and most will get caught again. Most of they can t pay for it so it will become a misdemeanor,
thus creating high crime areas. These quotas have enraged people, making police officers appear,
racist, and greedy for money, and will do it at the price of the people they were meant to protect.
Thus, truly the only way to bring back the trust of the people with the police department would be
to strip away quotas and to put more value on the work a police officer has done for their

My Trip To Knott s Scary Farm
Passion comes to people over time, it can come from the simplest of things such as fishing or
even running. But there s some people who have those passions that may come as peculiar to
many people. Instead of judging these individuals, we need to take a step back and try to
understand from their perspective. I was 13 years old when I finally found a passion that I
really enjoyed. Most kids that age have a passion for sports, while I enjoy sports, I never really
had my heart into it. October 3rd, 2010 my family decide to take a trip to Knott s Scary Farm. I
had been wanting to go to the event for years, I had watched videos online for years but never
gained the courage or approval from my parents until that year. That night started with my family
taking a trip down the 91 freeway, it wouldn t have been a trip on the 91 freeway without hitting

We approached the main gate and I felt like I was about to pass out right there. We quickly got in
line for security check, as we were waiting the sounds of metal detectors going off were like
crazy. Once we got through security it was just the gate between me and the event. Those 10
seconds of walking in, felt like an eternity almost as if time just stopped. The howling of wind
could be heard throughout the main entrance along with it every now and then were the blood
curdling screams. As we made our way into Ghost Town, fog filled the air! To me the fog was a
veil that not only blinded our vision, but it was a portal into another world. Once my eyes adjusted
