Virtue Ethics Deontology And Teleological Ethics
There are many ways to go about a situation at hand and the way you go through these instances is all
about your ethics and how you go about life. Three important ethical approaches that are all very
relatable to the lives we live today are virtue ethics, deontology and teleology. Virtue Ethics are the
ethics that highlight a person s character and traits and ignore rules about the certain situation
themselves and the consequences that could take affect after the situation is finished. Deontology or
deontology ethics take place when one s ethical position on a situation is based on the rules at hand.
This ethical approach can also be named rule based ethics because you are following the rules and not
acting upon your own characteristics or beliefs. Teleology or teleological ethics is theory of morality
that derives duty or moral ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I am a calm and respectful person who is ambitious and is always trying to learn something new. My
friends and family call me a social butterfly because of outgoing I am and how easy it is for me to
make friends. I am loyal and I keep my promises to my friends and family. To support that claim of
me being a loyal person, I have been dating my current girlfriend for the past two years now and our
relationship only continues to grow stronger and stronger as time progresses. I am mature, patient,
thoughtful of others and always optimistic about everything. All of my personal values, I believe, go
hand in hand with the meaning of virtue ethics. The ethical approach of virtue ethics is derived from
one s way of thinking and what one feels is the best way to go about the situation, despite what may
happen at the end of the conflict or instance. I believe that because of this, virtue ethics best fits me
and is how I go throughout life whenever I m in a tough position and need to make choices and

Human Impacts That Are Placed On The Beaches And Coast Of...
The topic I have chosen for the assignment is the human impacts that are placed on the beaches and
coast of Warrnambool, namely areas around the Merri Island Sanctuary. This also incorporates
locations including Stingray bay, the breakwater, Shelly beach and Middle Island.
Warrnambool is known for it s many diverse areas of coastline with many unique beaches; this then
brings in various groups of people and tourists in the interest of seeing the beaches or for recreational
water activities to Warrnambool. This tourism is positive for Warrnambool economically, but can
place a negative effect on the beach environment and the ecosystem.
Locations such as the Merri Marine Sanctuary and the area around Shelly beach include a diverse
ecosystem and reef area where many rock pools are noted. (Parks Victoria, 2007) Many people come
down here to look at the rock pools, but this could harm the invertebrates seen in the reef, as not
everyone is aware of this, especially tourists and children. This could include to trampling and picking
up creatures, which puts stress on them, some being more vulnerable, then others. It is known that in
an environment, anything within it should not be moved as to not make a footprint on that area and
within the sanctuary it is not allowed. Within all of these areas, pollution is a huge impact on the
environment, which is clearly noticeable. Plastics and clothing have been noted in these reef areas that
could harm or kill invertebrates. Without humans

Private Goods vs. Public Goods
Tim Randall Public or Private Good Public goods have characteristics of non rival and non
excludable. The former entails that one person s consumption does not affect another s consumption of
a good; the latter conveys that one individual cannot prevent another from consuming a good
(EconPort.org. N.D. PP. 1). Conversely, a private good is both rival and excludable. An individual
owns their good, not everyone can own the same good (rival), and each individual can exclude others
from using that good (excludable). Mixed goods are hybrids of public and private: Common Pool
Resource goods display the rival elements but are non excludable, while Club Goods contain the non
rival element but are excludable (EconPort.org. N.D. PP. 1). Congested toll roads Private good,
because some can be excluded from its use by the fee, and rival, because more vehicles on the road
indicates one person s use is impacting other individuals using the same road (i.e. less available
space). Knowledge Broadly defined as a public good, because one person s use of information does
not diminish another s use of the same information (non rival), and one individual cannot prevent
another from using the knowledge. Broadly defined because private intellectual property could be
considered a private good if others are not allowed to use it. Fish in the ocean Common pool resource,
because no one can be excluded from fishing in the ocean however, there is a limited supply of fish

How Does Elizabeth Proctor Create Tension In The Crucible
The historical events occurring in The Crucible are portraying the Salem witch trials that took place in
the Province of Massachusetts Bay during 1962. Arthur Miller the writer of this astonishing play, with
these unforgettable characters remaking this time in history. Fear pushes these Puritans to show the
true selves while facing the accusers in the court before the merciless judges. Dwelling in the heart of
Abigail Williams is revenge and shame, as Elizabeth Proctor is full of righteousness and faith being
the wife of John Proctor. Together they increase the tension and suspense of the play. Their
comparison led to the desire for one man s love, Elizabeth s husband. The differences were Abigail

was a honest, sweet, reliable wife. When deciding his execution John offered for Elizabeth to speak of
an incident that had occurred because he knew she would tell the complete truth, even if his life was

Abigail trying to get with Elizabeth s wife. While Elizabeth is trying her best to get her husband to

The Negative Effects Of Advertising And Its Effects On...
Advertising has a large impact on today s youth. This impact is largely created through use of
commercials on television. The Center for Disease Control and Prevention published an article which
explains that food commercials are one of the major components of advertising and they are leading to
an increase in health and weight problems in children. In addition to this, psychologists such as Sandra
L. Calvert have discovered that commercials give children a distorted sense of reality and can lead to
personality conflicts. Parents and scientists alike have found that advertisements also can cause self
esteem issues in young people, and this is a major concern. In conclusion, the negative effects of
advertising on children are alarming. Commercials advertising food are everywhere, and they are
causing problems in children s eating habits. An article published by the National Center for
Biotechnology Information stated that food marketing towards children promotes mostly foods that
are nutrient poor and contain lots of calories. The food being advertised on tv is not good for children,
but due to their vulnerability, they want it. Often times, they get what they want, so kids are being fed
very low quality food. A young child s body needs nutrients in order to grow and cannot handle
extreme amounts of calories. However, they food they want goes against these principles and can
cause health problems later on. According to a healthcare clinic, Mayo Clinic, a

The Rainbow Fish By Marcus Pfiter
In my final picture book read aloud, I am going to read The Rainbow Fish, by Marcus Pfister. The
main element of craft that I am going to highlight are the illustrations. The illustrations play a very
important role in this book because it catches the children s attention and helps bring the book to life.
In The Rainbow Fish, a fish, named Rainbow Fish, has the most beautiful sliver scales that sparkle
and shine (Pfister 4). However, Rainbow Fish is proud and selfish, and does not want to share his
beautiful scales with the other fish (Pfister 8 11). So the other fish ignore Rainbow Fish and leave him
all by his lonesome self (Pfister 11). Later on, Rainbow Fish gets some advice from the all knowing
octopus (Pfister 14). The octopus tells Rainbow Fish that he will be happy if he shares all of his scales
(Pfister 14 16). So Rainbow Fish takes his advice and shares all of his scales with all the other fish
(Pfister 24). At the end, Rainbow Fish learns how to make friends by sharing his most prized scales
(Pfister 27). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, Pfister also puts sliver sticker scales on Rainbow Fish to show his most beautiful sliver
scales that pop off of the page. I believe this illustration plays an important role in The Rainbow Fish
because Rainbow Fish is supposed to be the most beautiful fish in the entire ocean. And I believe that
Marcus Pfister did a wonderful job depicting Rainbow Fish as the most beautiful fish in the ocean in
this illustration. That is why I believe that the artwork is the most important element of craft in this

Alicia Zakon’s Poem, Remote Control Essay
Two of the main elements in any poem are theme and symbolism. This holds true in Alicia Zakon s
poem titled Remote Control . It essentially tells about the relationship between a man and a woman,
and how the man has the remote control to the woman s life. The symbols used are very meaningful to
the overall theme. The theme of Remote Control is also very important, and not just a topic for a good
poem but a real problem in society too. The writing would be much less effective if not for the
symbols used throughout the very strong overall message.
Symbolism is defined as the practice of representing things by means of symbols or of attributing
symbolic meanings or significance to objects, events, or relationships. The whole ... Show more

Zakon tells the woman to look back to when she gave the man the remote control to her life, and how
she could have prevented it. She then makes the reference to fast forward your life , and tells the
woman how things will be the same as they are today, and the woman will still hurt inside and the man
will still control her life. Reset you is one of the strongest lines in the poem, informing the woman to
reset her life and take back control. Zakon then tells the woman to push play , and start her life anew.
The theme is very important in a poem, because it is the implicit or recurrent idea throughout the
writing. The theme in Remote Control is how not only the man in the poem controls the woman s life,
but how it happens all over the world everyday. Many women suffer day in and day out, whether it is
because they are afraid of what will happen if they do not let their man control them, or if it is because
they are too insecure to change. When men try to control women, they are demonstrating their own
weakness in this regard. In other words, the implicit assumption is that men are too weak to control
themselves. When a man cannot control himself, he turns to other options, most of the time the female
in his relationship.
In conclusion, almost no poem is complete without the use of symbolism. Symbols are often used to
take the poem to a higher level. Furthermore, the theme of a poem is equally important. The theme
lays out the meaning or message

Hemingway s Trifles
In Trifles, the men (Attorney Henderson, Sheriff Peters, and Mr. Hale) are investigating the murder of
John Wright and conclude, by means of evidential findings, that Minnie Wright, wife of John Wright,
was the only possible suspect. However, the men could not find a clear motive to why she would kill
him. This lack of evidence is the last crucial piece to prosecute Mrs. Wright for the murder. Without a
possible motive, the jury would most likely be sympathetic to her, as they are to women in general
during this time period. Meanwhile, Mrs. Peters and Mrs. Hale, wives of Sheriff Peters and Mr. Hale,
believe they have found evidence to why Minnie Wright murdered her husband (finding a broken
birdcage and a dead bird that Mrs. Wright kept). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Variations. Some variations of tornadoes are that they can be found in the early stages of rapidly
developing thunderstorms. This type of tornado is most common along the range of the Rocky
Mountains, the Plains, and the Western States. Tornadoes may appear nearly transparent until dust and
debris are picked up. Occasionally, two or more tornadoes may occur at the same time. Another type
of tornado is known as a waterspout. This is a weak tornado that forms over warm water. They are
most common along the Gulf Coast and southeastern states. In the western United States, they occur
with cold late fall or late winter storms, during a time when you least expect it to develop. They
occasionally move inland becoming tornadoes that can cause a great deal of damage and many
injuries.

Senate, and acquired support from R Tom DeLay of Texas (Mcmillan, 1999). FCIA was put into law

Patriotism In Greek Art
People have different perspectives of different types of artwork, therefore is it possible to differentiate
between what is appropriate for the public and what is not? Conservatives are often appalled by more
explicit piece of art because it is too revealing. Some may even consider some artwork too similar to
pornography, but there is nothing wrong with that. It is said that Pornography comes in as many
varieties as the human sexual impulse and is protected by the First Amendment unless it meets the
definition for illegal obscenity (American Civil Liberties 6). Therefore, it is legal to have revealing
pieces of art as long as they do not fall into the category of obscenity. People believe the human body
is a beautiful piece of art but so is the sky. Different people appreciate different things. It all depends
on perspective. Additionally, William Schramm opened an erotic art gallery. He had heard people were
bringing their artwork hours away because the local galleries would not display them. He says, I may
not agree with some of the images in here, they might not be my cup of tea, but I will defend their
right to show it (Silva 2). Schramm is a perfect example of how art should be treated. He is ethically

Possibilities And Challenges Of Interreligious And Secular...
Possibilities and challenges of interreligious and secular dialogue in today s world. According to Zago,
globalization was imminent and interreligious contact unavoidable, leading to religious pluralism. The
tendency was increasing and creating challenge to mission, which would create not only meetings but
also clashes among various religions. He anticipates the need of attitudes and initiatives for
interreligious dialogue, but this Dialogue, however, must not eliminate proclamation that remains at
the heart of mission and is the criterion by which to judge the validity of mission and to promote
discernment in elaborating a theology of mission and dialogue. Religious pluralism presents
challenges and opportunities for Christians to understand their own being, their mission, and
relationship with other religions. Some tensions that may exist in duality are:
fundamentalism/relativism, proclamation/dialogue, identity/openness, inculturation/syncretism, local
autonomy/human rights, and freedom/reciprocity. Fundamentalism/relativism. These tensions could be
beneficial or a problem especially when fundamentalism becomes radical. For instance, the situation
that is happening in Syria, where there are people who practice three religions: Islam from different
sects as Sunni, Shi a and Kharijites, Druzism, and Christians of different denominations. The war in

Being An Outsider
No matter where one goes on this dismal chunk of rock, one will probably encounter an outsider. In
high school lunchrooms there is always at least one poor, sad teenager who has the unlucky seat next
to the trash can. In parks and school playgrounds there is always that one melancholy kid that provides
a stark contrast from the joyful shouts and screams coming from the other playing children. The
experience of being an outsider is an inescapable universal condition that can be caused through social
class, appearance, or other factors. Being an outsider is caused by social class no matter where one is
in the world. In Santha Rama Rau s memoir of her childhood as an Indian girl in British controlled
India, she talked about how she and her sister were seen as outsiders in their British run school ...

In Ryszard Kapuscinski s lecture, Encountering the Other: The Challenge for the 21st Century ,
Kapuscinski argues that everyone is part of another group that is deemed the Other . Kapuscinski
states that Others are indeed Others, but for those Others, I am the one who is Other (Kapuscinski,
22). Thus, being an outsider is a universal condition since we are all the Other to someone else.
However, some might argue that being an outsider is not a universal condition as humans are by
nature social animals so being an outsider is a rare occurence. To this, Kapuscinski also states that
being an outsider is universal as ...the Other is a mirror into which you peer...a mirror that unmasks
and denudes, which we would prefer to avoid (Kapuscinski, 28). In other words, being an outsider is a
universal condition even though humans are social animals because the Other is a reflection of
qualities that define a person and humanity in general. The quality of being in outsider is universal as
everyone is an outsider to someone else and outsiders are simply reflections of who humanity

The Myth Of The Chupacabra
Chupacabra is Spanish for goat sucker . The creature s name derives from stories in Latin America of
several dead goats with puncture wounds in their necks and all the blood drained from their bodies.
Most experts believe the Chupacabra to be a coyote with mange, which is a skin disease that can cause
their hair to fall out and the skin to shrivel. In humans, mange is just mildly annoying. But it can be
fatal in canines. Chupacabras have been described as resembling a rodent or reptile, with green gray
skin and a disgusting odor. Puerto Rican conspiracy theorists have claimed that the government is
covering up the truth of the Chupacabra in order to prevent panic. Author Benjamin Radford believes
there is a direct correlation between the Chupacabra and the creature in the film, (Species.) An article

If Beale Street Could Talk Analysis
Throughout If Beale Street Could Talk by James Baldwin the main characters have to overcome the
challenges of racism, and the traits that go hand and hand with it, justice and prejudice, to realize what
they actually needed was the family love they already had. Even though there are many romantic and
even some graphic passages in the book, Baldwin mainly focuses on how they had to come together as
a family when Alonzo (Fonny) was in jail and awaiting trial. If Beale Street Could Talk is essentially a
story about the human capacity to love.
After Clementine s (Tish s) meeting with her immediate family, they call over Fonny s family to share
in the news that Tish is pregnant. During a normal situation this would be a happy occasion and the
couple would tell both families at once, together. However Fonny has been in jail for roughly three

Horrors Of War In Wilfred Owen s Dulce Et Decorum Est
A person cannot truly comprehend a situation if they have never experienced it first hand. Writers,
however, can use their words to help paint a picture of said situations for those that wish to further
understand them. One example of such, is Wilfred Owen s Dulce et Decorum Est. Owen wrote this
poem to inform the public of the horrors of battle, specifically in World War I. He desperately tried to
warn civilians of the truths of combat and why it doesn t always feel honorable to die for your country.
When analyzed further, Owen is also warning his fellow citizens not to believe everything the
government tells them. In the first stanza, Owen describes a regiment marching through sludge,
something not unusual for soldiers at the time. In the second stanza, however, he introduces a new
threat, mustard gas. The speaker exclaims: Gas! GAS! Quick, boys! (Owen L9). As most of the
soldiers are putting on their gas masks, one fails to do so. The speaker is left watching the man
struggle: flound ring like a man in fire or lime...guttering, choking, drowning. (Owen L12 16). After
watching his fellow soldier succumb to the hellish effects of the gas, the speaker could not erase the
images from his memory. In the last stanza, he chastised the people at home who romanticize war and
challenged them to think about how admirable it is to watch a man die: the white eyes writhing in his
face, His hanging face, like a devil s sick of sin (Owen L19 20). Nationalism plays a huge role

College Is A Waste Of Time And Money Analysis
College Is Not Always Worth It Located in the 14th Edition of The Norton Reader, an article written
by Carolina Bird titled College is a Waste of Time and Money can be found. In the article Bird argues
that though college may be beneficial for a small percentage of students, but for the majority it is a
waste of time and money. The benefits of a college degree can rely on many contributing factors, but
for some college is simply a waste of time and money. Though most of the sources used in Bird s
article are over four decades old, the argument today is still very strong. One example includes the
idea that most students believe that college is the best thing for them to do for their future, and
therefore they enroll, only to realize they are not happy and drop out. For other students their dream
may have always been set on a specific career, putting college into the plan, but following graduation
the job market for their degree is scarce. Within these two examples one would find support for the
argument that college is a waste of time and money. Written over 40 years ago, Bird argues of college

Classical Music Appreciation Essay
One thing I m grateful for in my life is growing up with a background in classical music appreciation.
I remember my parents had a record of Prokofiev s Peter and the Wolf at home, and I would listen to it
all the time. The depth of the music was fascinating to my little brain, especially compared to the
childish Disney songs and bubblegum pop hits of the 90 s that I d otherwise hear on the radio. But the
reason why this work helped me with understanding music was that it was specifically aimed at kids
in order to teach them how to pick out leitmotifs, or unique, repeated phrases in the songs. Leitmotifs
are often used in classical works to tell a story, and certain instruments or melodies can represent
people, emotions, events, and other parts ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, as the game continues, instead of making him less intimidating, his nuttiness makes him
even scarier as his behavior becomes even more erratic and malevolent. This is all compounded in the
World of Ruin where he spends his time using his ultimate power to pick off the lonely survivors for
no other reason than he likes killing them. Some people argue that the best villains are ones that have
sympathetic backstories, tragic heroes that made a mistake and fell from grace. Kefka is not
sympathetic. He is not a tragic hero. He doesn t care for any notion of honor, loyalty, or goodness. He

Solar System Negatives
The planets in our solar system all have their unique qualities. Jupiter has it s spot, Saturn and Uranus
have rings, Mercury is hot, Neptune is cold, Earth has a living environment, and Pluto is sometimes a
planet and sometimes not. Have you ever thought that planets can be compared to people, more
specifically, people that are different. Think of the stereotypical high school, you ve got the popular
kids, the potentially popular kids, the wanna be popular kids, the bullies, the nerds and so on, so on.
As much as I hate to say it, this is what our society is, and it will possibly never changed. With these
stereotypes, certain types of people are set to do certain actions. They have set personalities and
attributes. When you hear big planet, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
With my hand, I can hold some things, type, a different way though, and many other basic tasks. With
my height, I can still walk, run, go upstairs and other ordinary tasks. Planets can also orbit, rotate and
other things that all planets do. None of the other planets have the correct environment to live in, like
Earth. My point is that my little hand and height, cannot do many things but still can do the basic tasks
that are necessary to life. Many people teens through adults, have used or at least heard the phrase that
person is hot This phrase indicates that someone thinks another someone is good looking. Many
people use this to judge people or in some ways differentiate these people from the people they do not
classify as hot . If you think about planets, more specifically Venus or Mercury, you know that these
two planets are the hottest, as they are closest to the sun. Nevertheless, they are planets and are treated
the same as other planets. I believe people should be treated the same. People cannot change what they
look like, and planets cannot move their location to make them hotter or colder. Another thing, also
revolving around the temperature of a planet, is Neptune and it s

Main Causative Factor in the Failure of the DePuy ASR and...
Size of the devices:
The role of the large diameter ASR devices in males are linked with considerably lower metal ion
levels in contrast to the BHR devices, proposing that under perfect in vivo conditions the ASR has a
less wear rate than the BHR device (Underwood et al. 2011). Although, problems also occurred with
the smaller hip resurfacing implants among women and small men. It was discovered that these
implants did not lubricate as well, unlike the bigger implants and therefore they produced a large
amount of metal debris and produced a very concentration of metal ions in the blood. (Cohen 2012).
Acetabular component:
The BHR hip device is more innovative than the ASR device as it has a hole used for wires to fix the
introducer. The ASR device does not have this. (Underwood et al. 2011).
Positioning of the components:
The difference can be seen in the sub optimally positioned components within 10° of Lewinnek s safe
zone in the occurrence of edge loading and rate of wear in both the ASR and the BHR devices
(Underwood et al. 2011).
Wear and inclination of the acetabular component:
A major positive correlation was seen between the wear and inclination of the acetabular component
with the BHR device (p = 0.01) which was not seen with the ASR device (p = 0.6). This suggests
either that the ASR devices have a higher wear rate at all inclinations or that the safe zone that escapes
edge loading is a lot thinner than that of the BHR device (Underwood et al. 2011).

Reflection Paper On Law Of Nature
Reflection paper questions Locke
There is a need to understand the law of nature because law of nature is a perfect law of equality,
peace, no superiority of one person over another and absolute freedom for everyone. Nature provides
human beings with a law by which everyone is equal, everyone got equal freedom, equal rights, and
no one can dominate other by using the claims of jurisdiction or autonomy. It is very important to
understand the law of nature because it provides a perfect example of how a peaceful and orderly
world should. In a peaceful and orderly world, there is no violation of law, if someone breaks the law
he/she will be punished equally and in this way, every human being will enjoy maximized freedom.
In the law of nature there is only one supreme power who is controlling nature and every living thing
on nature will follow the set rules of harmony, peace and cooperation. They all shouldstay in the
natural law to progress and in that way, not only nature will be preserved but human beings can also
live in harmony. The concept is important because political power is a concept that is invented to run
the states and communities in orderly manner and to provide freedom, equality and justice to
everyone. A perfect political power will be that power that ensures law of nature is to be followed in
any case and thus to understand political power, one must learn the basics of law of nature. All people
are equal in the state of nature because there is only one supreme being and all human beings are equal
with equal rights to prosper and live. There are no issues of jurisdiction or supremacy of one person
over another because law of nature has provided every human being with equal opportunities.
According to Locke the main reason we cannot harm each other is that because all human beings are
created equals thus no one is superior as compare to other and if we will harm another equal being we
are challenging the authority of sovereign creator who gave freedom to everyone but we are enjoying
our freedom but snatching others. He gave the example of like we use animals, because human beings
use animals against their will, they use them for money and profits and do not care about their rights
or freedom

Chronic kidney disease (CKD) is a leading cause of the critical mortality and morbidity, the Global
Burden of Diseases 2010 study reported that CKD contributes to approximately 740,000 deaths
annually, making it the 18th leading cause of death (Benigni et al. 2010, Lozano et al. 2012). CKD is a
progressive condition as either kidney damage or decreased kidney function over time (Figliuzzi et al.
2014). The main causes of CKD include glomerulonephritis, diabetic kidney disease, hypertensive
nephropathy, polycystic kidney disease and other factors, which gradually decrease the glomerular
filtration rate (Karczewski and Malkiewicz. 2015). The major outcomes of CKD include progression
to kidney failure, complication of decreased kidney function, and cardiovascular disease. Moreover,
patients with CKD are at high risk for progression to the end stage renal disease (ESRD) (Levey et al.
2003). The increasing number of patients with CKD, medicare spending on these patients exceeds $29

Essay about Illegal Immigration and the Environment
Illegal Immigration and the Environment
One of the most controversial political issues of today is illegal immigration. Illegal immigration
describes the long term shift of populations across national borders without complying with the legal
requirements. Many people are crossing the United States borders illegally to find better jobs, escape
political persecution, and to help out families back home. Some Americans are against this movement
of immigrants. One problem is because of the damaging effects to the United States environment,
another is the amount of money needed to clean up the waste that is being left behind. Illegal
immigration not only hurts the economy, it is also taking its toll on the environment. Illegal

The government has estimated that one immigrant leaves behind eight pounds of litter on the journey.
(Davis, 2005) Smugglers make the immigrants leave their belongings so they can get more people into
cars and trucks for the trip. The illegal immigrants dump their belongings in favor of nicer clothes to
better blend in with the communities where they will be staying. (Davis, 2005) The trash left behind
can consist of harmful waste including food cans, plastic bottles, various medications, paper waste,
batteries, cell phones, radios, and fecal matter. The Tohono O odham tribe has used $100,000 in
government funds and $30,000 of the tribes own money to remove 40 tons of waste from 84 different
places in 2005.(Davis, 2005) In 2005, the city of Tuscan, Arizona allotted $46,000 from their budget
to buy a dump truck to carry off waste left behind by illegal immigrants. The money also paid for
signs in English and Spanish to identify dumping sites, also gloves, visors, safety vest, and containers
for people to clean up the sites. (Davis, 2005) The litter can be very damaging and dangerous to our
natural wildlife and natural resources. The litter is also harmful to people as well. The government has
estimated that 2000 tons of waste is what immigrants dump each year. (Davis, 2005) What makes
migrant waste a problem is that waste is scattered in remote areas where it is

Actually I haven t gone to The Art Gallery of Greater Victoria; I choose to go to Vancouver Art

looking at them, I found out a different culture will make their art work totally different. Takashi
Murakami is a very influential Japanese artist born after the 1960s. It is not only an artist widely loved

concept of art. The theme is often Japanese traditional comic books, video games, erotic culture based,

Women During The Greek Period
Women during The Greek Period and Now Art and sculptures have been created since the beginning
of mankind in order to express themselves and demonstrate human potential. From simple carvings on
a rock walls to magnificent works of art, such as the sixteenth chapel, art has continued to progress
throughout time and it continues to progresses even further. There are many different types of art to
depict different things the artist wants to transfer to his viewers if not created for himself. Since works
of art are made to express aspects within life, it creates symbolics meanings the vary on the message
the artist wants to give out. Besides symbolic meanings, a work of art can notify the viewer of the
history during the time period it was created, roles within society, the way people lived during the time
it was made, how society functioned, what they believed in, and many more things about life that are
uncountable. Women were among one of the things artist painted and sculpted about. They did this
and continue to do this in order to show what women meant to people during that time. Comparing an
old painting with a contemporary painting we can see how some aspects, techniques, and styles within
the art have changed and how women s roles have become different in society over the course of time.
We can also see what artistic aspects, techniques, and style have remained the same, and what we can
see what has remained the same about women today. We can view this when we

Analysis Of Daddy By Sylvia Plath
Daddy by Sylvia Plath is a poem that explores the persona of a 40 year old woman whose father died
when she was 10. Despite the fact that Plath denied that it was in anyway autobiographical, the reader
cannot fail to notice the similarities between the life of the persona and Plath. Throughout the poem
we are faced which a strain of imagery; imagery which shows the personas extreme anger through
connotations to being in a concentration camp:
Chuffing me off like a Jew. A Jew to Dachau, Auschwitz, Belsen
Here we see that the speaker feels persecuted by the memory of her father just as the Jews were
persecuted under the Nazi state. The connotations of chuffing conveys that she feels that when her
father died he almost gave her no time ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The persona feels trapped in the moment of her father s death, and she feels mentally and physically
unable to move on and grow despite the death occurring 30 years ago:
Black shoe in which I have lived like a foot
The metaphor created here is representative of the pain her father causes for her. The implications of
this have caused her to be crushed, tortured and twisted, as she has been held captive by the death for
since she was 10 years old; this prohibiting her from developing into an adult. She refers to her father
has black shoe which conveys through the word choice of black that he is evil, but it also has
connotations to death. The reader is also shocked to see that she feels her father has fed off her
existence since his death:
For thirty years, poor and white
The contrast between the speaker being white and her father being black suggest that she see s herself
as the polar opposite of him. It also suggests that she has been drained of all life, this is the
introduction to the vampire imagery we see elsewhere in the poem. This imagery makes clear that her
father haunts her with her statements like bit my pretty red heart which has connotations to her
innocence being lost due to his death this is conveyed through the word choice of red which suggests
youthfulness. These lines emit her thought of being fuelled by hatred of her father, thus she has an
intense anger for him and the suffering he

The First Battle Of Bull Run Essay
THE FIRST BATTLE OF BULL RUN
On July 21, 1861, two armies, one confederate and the other Union, prepared for the first major land
battle of the Civil War. In 1861 Abraham Lincoln was sworn in as President.
The Southern states had seceded and the South had fired on and captured Fort Sumter on April 12
1861.
After the Fort Sumter battle, both the North and the South began preparing for war by raising armies.
This was done quickly and neither side spent much time training the troops. Both sides also did not
know what a long and terrible war was ahead.

The Confederates at Manassas knew far ahead of this action due to many Southern spies in
Washington. The Southern troops spread in lines along eight miles of Bull Run Creek. The heaviest
Southern troops were on a ridge around Henry House. After a few skirmishes, the Union Army arrived
at Bull Run on July 21, 1861.
As the Union Army approached Bull Run, General Johnston s army faked an attack at Harpers Ferry.
As the 18,000 Union troops dug in for assault, the Southern forces jumped on rail cars and headed for
Bull Run to reinforce the Confederate Army.
General McDonnell attempted to flank the Confederates by moving north and west, and began several
attacks on the Confederates right flank and the center of the Confederate line at Henry House.
As the battle wore on, the superior numbers of the Union Army began to wear down the Confederate
lines. At a critical point, as the Confederates began to fall back, an officer pointed out a line of rebels
who were still strong. He said, look at Jackson s men standing like a stone wall . He was talking about

First Impressions of Elizabeth and Darcy First impressions in the novel Pride and Prejudice play a
crucial role. Whether they be initially correct then changed because of the views of others like Jane

the basis for which the story is structured upon. The novel progresses as the reader s (and the

President Roosevelt took immediate action to address the country s economic woes, first announcing a

Overhead costs rates are revised annually but the standard for direct labor and material are only
changed when prices, production methods or production designed are changed significantly.
However, an employee of Shun, Manjit, has decided to change the method in which Shun Electronics
calculates its costs of its products. Manjit wants to expand the three departmental cost centers to eight,
each with its own overhead cost allocation rate. As a result, it appears that the total costs for four of
their six radios will increase, while two will decrease. This poses a great deal of issues concerning
Shun Electronics:
Standard cost of product change
Longer run functions such as price change, make/buy decisions, financial planning and corporate

This new costing method may change current incentives of managers
Profit margins for some products decreased while others increased
This poses us with three alternatives we can take for Shun Electronics:

2. Adopt Manjit s cost model

The Theory Of Training And Weight Training
Another method of training that has shown to be successful in improving acceleration is power and
weight training supported by research from (Chelly, 2009). Mansfield athletics club; Thomas; Spinks
and Tricoli.
The definition of power training is training is most commonly used to develop a muscle group s ability
to contract at maximum force in the shortest amount of time possible (McArdle, Katch Katch 2015).
Weight training is defined as a system of conditioning involving lifting weights especially for strength
and endurance (Merriam and Webster 2015). Power is important to acceleration as the runner s feet are
in contact with the floor for longer than if they were at full speed and so more power is needed to
create movement and quickly (Mansfield athletics club 2012). Research, by Mohamed Souhaiel
Chelly (2009), showed the effect of back squat and other forms of power training over a 2 months
period (twice a week) on acceleration and other forms of explosive movements by football players.
They found that in the first 5 meters in a 40m sprint the velocity of the players improved after using
the power training techniques. This is specific to junior soccer players and so may not be specific to
other sports or those of different athletic standards. In the book strength and power in sport , it is noted
by the author (Latif Thomas 2010) that The use of training methods involving, maximal and near
maximal contractions, cause a remarkable increase in RFD accompanied by an

Essay on The Newest Type of Transportation
The Newest Type of Transportation
Transportation, by definition, is the act of moving something or someone from one place to another.
There are many different types of transportation vehicles such as bicycles, boats, human feet (for
walking/running), and many more. Although when truly asked about transportation what comes to
mind? Yes, the automobile. The automobile, and transportation contains many issues to go along with
it. There are five main issues which consist of; social, physical, economic, energy demand, and
environmental. The first of the issues is the social transportation issue. The automobile has become
such a big part of people s life today it has actually changed the way people live. ... Show more

The fourth transportation issue is the energy demand issue. Our transportation is highly dependent on
the use of petroleum fuels. While the fuels are highly energy dense, and easy to transport, they are also
only limited in supply and we are rapidly using that up.
The last issue that comes from transportation and one of the biggest is the environmental impact. Due
to the use of petroleum gas which the combustion of it releases a numerous amount of pollutants into
the air. Automobiles contribute to the great amounts of carbon monoxide and more unhealthy
pollutants in the air. One of the greatest concerns is with the emission of the green house gas carbon
dioxide. In addition the large amounts of storm water that damage our streams, lakes, and rivers are
due to the transportation infrastructure. Also the dark paved roads, highways, etc. cause the head
island effect which is that the dark pavement attracts heat and causes the area to actually warm up and
those urban areas it causes people to use air conditioning more than they would ve so the electricity
consumption increases.[2] This transportation issue of the environment can be fixed through a new
century of car, an environmentally friendly car, a hybrid car.
Hybrid Electric Vehicles (HEV s) are vehicles that combine two or more power systems.

Virtue Ethics Deontology And Teleological Ethics There are many ways to go about a situation at hand and the way you go through these instances is all about your ethics and how you go about life. Three important ethical approaches that are all very relatable to the lives we live today are virtue ethics, deontology and teleology. Virtue Ethics are the ethics that highlight a person s character and traits and ignore rules about the certain situation themselves and the consequences that could take affect after the situation is finished. Deontology or deontology ethics take place when one s ethical position on a situation is based on the rules at hand. This ethical approach can also be named rule based ethics because you are following the rules and not acting upon your own characteristics or beliefs. • 4. Human Impacts That Are Placed On The Beaches And Coast Of... The topic I have chosen for the assignment is the human impacts that are placed on the beaches and coast of Warrnambool, namely areas around the Merri Island Sanctuary. This also incorporates locations including Stingray bay, the breakwater, Shelly beach and Middle Island. Warrnambool is known for it s many diverse areas of coastline with many unique beaches; this then brings in various groups of people and tourists in the interest of seeing the beaches or for recreational water activities to Warrnambool. This tourism is positive for Warrnambool economically, but can place a negative effect on the beach environment and the ecosystem. Locations such as the Merri Marine Sanctuary and the area around Shelly beach include a diverse ecosystem and reef area where many rock pools are noted. (Parks Victoria, 2007) Many people come down here to look at the rock pools, but this could harm the invertebrates seen in the reef, as not everyone is aware of this, especially tourists and children. This could include to trampling and picking up creatures, which puts stress on them, some being more vulnerable, then others. It is known that in an environment, anything within it should not be moved as to not make a footprint on that area and within the sanctuary it is not allowed. Within all of these areas, pollution is a huge impact on the environment, which is clearly noticeable. Plastics and clothing have been noted in these reef areas that could harm or kill invertebrates. • 5. Private Goods vs. Public Goods Tim Randall Public or Private Good Public goods have characteristics of non rival and non excludable. The former entails that one person s consumption does not affect another s consumption of a good; the latter conveys that one individual cannot prevent another from consuming a good (EconPort.org. N.D. PP. 1). Conversely, a private good is both rival and excludable. An individual owns their good, not everyone can own the same good (rival), and each individual can exclude others from using that good (excludable). Mixed goods are hybrids of public and private: Common Pool Resource goods display the rival elements but are non excludable, while Club Goods contain the non rival element but are excludable (EconPort.org. N.D. PP. 1). Congested toll roads Private good, because some can be excluded from its use by the fee, and rival, because more vehicles on the road indicates one person s use is impacting other individuals using the same road (i.e. less available space). Knowledge Broadly defined as a public good, because one person s use of information does not diminish another s use of the same information (non rival), and one individual cannot prevent another from using the knowledge. Broadly defined because private intellectual property could be considered a private good if others are not allowed to use it. • 7. The Negative Effects Of Advertising And Its Effects On... Advertising has a large impact on today s youth. This impact is largely created through use of commercials on television. The Center for Disease Control and Prevention published an article which explains that food commercials are one of the major components of advertising and they are leading to an increase in health and weight problems in children. In addition to this, psychologists such as Sandra L. Calvert have discovered that commercials give children a distorted sense of reality and can lead to personality conflicts. Parents and scientists alike have found that advertisements also can cause self esteem issues in young people, and this is a major concern. In conclusion, the negative effects of advertising on children are alarming. Commercials advertising food are everywhere, and they are causing problems in children s eating habits. An article published by the National Center for Biotechnology Information stated that food marketing towards children promotes mostly foods that are nutrient poor and contain lots of calories. The food being advertised on tv is not good for children, but due to their vulnerability, they want it. Often times, they get what they want, so kids are being fed very low quality food. • 9. Alicia Zakon’s Poem, Remote Control Essay Two of the main elements in any poem are theme and symbolism. This holds true in Alicia Zakon s poem titled Remote Control . It essentially tells about the relationship between a man and a woman, and how the man has the remote control to the woman s life. The symbols used are very meaningful to the overall theme. The theme of Remote Control is also very important, and not just a topic for a good poem but a real problem in society too. The writing would be much less effective if not for the symbols used throughout the very strong overall message. Symbolism is defined as the practice of representing things by means of symbols or of attributing symbolic meanings or significance to objects, events, or relationships. The whole ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Zakon tells the woman to look back to when she gave the man the remote control to her life, and how she could have prevented it. She then makes the reference to fast forward your life , and tells the woman how things will be the same as they are today, and the woman will still hurt inside and the man will still control her life. Reset you is one of the strongest lines in the poem, informing the woman to reset her life and take back control. Zakon then tells the woman to push play , and start her life anew. The theme is very important in a poem, because it is the implicit or recurrent idea throughout the writing. The theme in Remote Control is how not only the man in the poem controls the woman s life, but how it happens all over the world everyday. Many women suffer day in and day out, whether it is because they are afraid of what will happen if they do not let their man control them, or if it is because they are too insecure to change. When men try to control women, they are demonstrating their own weakness in this regard. In other words, the implicit assumption is that men are too weak to control themselves. When a man cannot control himself, he turns to other options, most of the time the female in his relationship. In conclusion, almost no poem is complete without the use of symbolism. Symbols are often used to take the poem to a higher level. Furthermore, the theme of a poem is equally important. The theme lays out the meaning or message ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Conservatives are often appalled by more explicit piece of art because it is too revealing. Some may even consider some artwork too similar to pornography, but there is nothing wrong with that. It is said that Pornography comes in as many varieties as the human sexual impulse and is protected by the First Amendment unless it meets the definition for illegal obscenity (American Civil Liberties 6). Therefore, it is legal to have revealing pieces of art as long as they do not fall into the category of obscenity. People believe the human body is a beautiful piece of art but so is the sky. According to Zago, globalization was imminent and interreligious contact unavoidable, leading to religious pluralism. He anticipates the need of attitudes and initiatives for interreligious dialogue, but this Dialogue, however, must not eliminate proclamation that remains at the heart of mission and is the criterion by which to judge the validity of mission and to promote discernment in elaborating a theology of mission and dialogue. • 20. Horrors Of War In Wilfred Owen s Dulce Et Decorum Est A person cannot truly comprehend a situation if they have never experienced it first hand. Writers, however, can use their words to help paint a picture of said situations for those that wish to further understand them. One example of such, is Wilfred Owen s Dulce et Decorum Est. Owen wrote this poem to inform the public of the horrors of battle, specifically in World War I. He desperately tried to warn civilians of the truths of combat and why it doesn t always feel honorable to die for your country. When analyzed further, Owen is also warning his fellow citizens not to believe everything the government tells them. In the first stanza, Owen describes a regiment marching through sludge, something not unusual for soldiers at the time. In the second stanza, however, he introduces a new threat, mustard gas. The speaker exclaims: Gas! GAS! Quick, boys! (Owen L9). As most of the soldiers are putting on their gas masks, one fails to do so. The speaker is left watching the man struggle: flound ring like a man in fire or lime...guttering, choking, drowning. (Owen L12 16). After watching his fellow soldier succumb to the hellish effects of the gas, the speaker could not erase the images from his memory. In the last stanza, he chastised the people at home who romanticize war and challenged them to think about how admirable it is to watch a man die: the white eyes writhing in his face, His hanging face, like a devil s sick of sin (Owen L19 20). College Is A Waste Of Time And Money Analysis College Is Not Always Worth It Located in the 14th Edition of The Norton Reader, an article written by Carolina Bird titled College is a Waste of Time and Money can be found. In the article Bird argues that though college may be beneficial for a small percentage of students, but for the majority it is a waste of time and money. The benefits of a college degree can rely on many contributing factors, but for some college is simply a waste of time and money. Though most of the sources used in Bird s article are over four decades old, the argument today is still very strong. One example includes the idea that most students believe that college is the best thing for them to do for their future, and therefore they enroll, only to realize they are not happy and drop out. For other students their dream may have always been set on a specific career, putting college into the plan, but following graduation the job market for their degree is scarce. Within these two examples one would find support for the argument that college is a waste of time and money. Written over 40 years ago, Bird argues of college being a waste of time and money to a large percentage of the college population. Size of the devices: The role of the large diameter ASR devices in males are linked with considerably lower metal ion levels in contrast to the BHR devices, proposing that under perfect in vivo conditions the ASR has a less wear rate than the BHR device (Underwood et al. 2011). Although, problems also occurred with the smaller hip resurfacing implants among women and small men. It was discovered that these implants did not lubricate as well, unlike the bigger implants and therefore they produced a large amount of metal debris and produced a very concentration of metal ions in the blood. (Cohen 2012). Acetabular component: The BHR hip device is more innovative than the ASR device as it has a hole used for wires to fix the introducer. The ASR device does not have this. (Underwood et al. 2011). Positioning of the components: The difference can be seen in the sub optimally positioned components within 10° of Lewinnek s safe zone in the occurrence of edge loading and rate of wear in both the ASR and the BHR devices (Underwood et al. 2011). Wear and inclination of the acetabular component: A major positive correlation was seen between the wear and inclination of the acetabular component with the BHR device (p = 0.01) which was not seen with the ASR device (p = 0.6). This suggests either that the ASR devices have a higher wear rate at all inclinations or that the safe zone that escapes edge loading is a lot thinner than that of the BHR device (Underwood et al. 2011). ... • 25. Reflection Paper On Law Of Nature Reflection paper questions Locke There is a need to understand the law of nature because law of nature is a perfect law of equality, peace, no superiority of one person over another and absolute freedom for everyone. Nature provides human beings with a law by which everyone is equal, everyone got equal freedom, equal rights, and no one can dominate other by using the claims of jurisdiction or autonomy. It is very important to understand the law of nature because it provides a perfect example of how a peaceful and orderly world should. In a peaceful and orderly world, there is no violation of law, if someone breaks the law he/she will be punished equally and in this way, every human being will enjoy maximized freedom. In the law of nature there is only one supreme power who is controlling nature and every living thing on nature will follow the set rules of harmony, peace and cooperation. They all shouldstay in the natural law to progress and in that way, not only nature will be preserved but human beings can also live in harmony. The concept is important because political power is a concept that is invented to run the states and communities in orderly manner and to provide freedom, equality and justice to everyone. A perfect political power will be that power that ensures law of nature is to be followed in any case and thus to understand political power, one must learn the basics of law of nature. All people are equal in the state of nature because there is only one supreme being and all human beings are equal with equal rights to prosper and live. There are no issues of jurisdiction or supremacy of one person over another because law of nature has provided every human being with equal opportunities. According to Locke the main reason we cannot harm each other is that because all human beings are created equals thus no one is superior as compare to other and if we will harm another equal being we are challenging the authority of sovereign creator who gave freedom to everyone but we are enjoying our freedom but snatching others. Despite the fact that Plath denied that it was in anyway autobiographical, the reader cannot fail to notice the similarities between the life of the persona and Plath. Throughout the poem we are faced which a strain of imagery; imagery which shows the personas extreme anger through connotations to being in a concentration camp: Chuffing me off like a Jew. The persona feels trapped in the moment of her father s death, and she feels mentally and physically unable to move on and grow despite the death occurring 30 years ago: Black shoe in which I have lived like a foot The metaphor created here is representative of the pain her father causes for her. The implications of this have caused her to be crushed, tortured and twisted, as she has been held captive by the death for since she was 10 years old; this prohibiting her from developing into an adult. She refers to her father has black shoe which conveys through the word choice of black that he is evil, but it also has connotations to death. The reader is also shocked to see that she feels her father has fed off her existence since his death: For thirty years, poor and white The contrast between the speaker being white and her father being black suggest that she see s herself as the polar opposite of him. It also suggests that she has been drained of all life, this is the introduction to the vampire imagery we see elsewhere in the poem. This imagery makes clear that her father haunts her with her statements like bit my pretty red heart which has connotations to her innocence being lost due to his death this is conveyed through the word choice of red which suggests youthfulness. These lines emit her thought of being fuelled by hatred of her father, thus she has an intense anger for him and the suffering he ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Theory Of Training And Weight Training Another method of training that has shown to be successful in improving acceleration is power and weight training supported by research from (Chelly, 2009). Mansfield athletics club; Thomas; Spinks and Tricoli. The definition of power training is training is most commonly used to develop a muscle group s ability to contract at maximum force in the shortest amount of time possible (McArdle, Katch Katch 2015). Weight training is defined as a system of conditioning involving lifting weights especially for strength and endurance (Merriam and Webster 2015). Power is important to acceleration as the runner s feet are in contact with the floor for longer than if they were at full speed and so more power is needed to create movement and quickly (Mansfield athletics club 2012). Research, by Mohamed Souhaiel Chelly (2009), showed the effect of back squat and other forms of power training over a 2 months period (twice a week) on acceleration and other forms of explosive movements by football players. They found that in the first 5 meters in a 40m sprint the velocity of the players improved after using the power training techniques. This is specific to junior soccer players and so may not be specific to other sports or those of different athletic standards.
