(1) The neural crest cells migrate throughout the body and differentiate into many cell types including neurons and glial cells of the nervous system, adrenal medulla cells, pigment cells in the skin, and skeletal and connective tissues of the head. (2) The mesoderm forms the somites which differentiate depending on their position into structures like vertebrae, ribs, muscles of the rib cage, limbs, back, and dermis of the skin. (3) The endoderm develops structures of the digestive system like the pancreas, liver, and gall bladder as well as the respiratory system.
