Message from Dr. Barbara Flood
President, Denver Coach Federation
I am visiting friends in Tucson and feeling the beginning of the desert heat. After the
cool winds of the Rocky Mountains, it is a pleasant relief. As I am winding down my
tenure as the president of the Denver Coach Federation, I am reminded of all of the
seasons of the past year. It has been a tremendous pleasure to work with such a
talented and enthusiastic organization.
In this past year, the Denver Coach Federation Board of Directors has gone through a
metamorphosis as we took on the task of expanding our vision and our foundation for
the organization. Your participation in that vision has been very inspiring, providing the
necessary clarity.
Volunteering to serve always has its unexpected fruits; the people, the challenges, the
new view of one’s own strengths and frailties. I remember the first time I came to the
DCF. As I walked into the room, I felt an amazing energy of excitement, acceptance and
sincere belief in the possibilities for all of us. I knew that I was in the right place. Here
everyone could flourish.
When I was invited to broaden my participation to include a position on the BOD, I was
thrilled and honored. I was delighted to have the opportunity to give back, to offer my
appreciation through my service to an organization I so admired. And I was curious
where we would be led in the way of expansion and growth.
2. With the support of a talented and enthusiastic BOD and the vision and clarity of our
members, we have together expanded our opportunities to preserve the intent and
purpose of the coaching industry; educated our membership and the larger community
regarding coaching; and successfully protected our legacy as coaches and our freedom
to offer our skills and talents.
I want to thank you for allowing me this opportunity.
Now I will gently recede to the background, holding the space to champion the DCF and
the new President as Kim Clausen takes the gavel. Her leadership will take us even
further on the path of successfully defining and clarifying the role of coaching.
We are fortunate to be alive in this place at this time. We live in interesting, challenging
and extremely rewarding times. Our work can and will transform the world.
Warmly,
Dr. Barbara Flood
President, DCF

Membership in the Denver Coach Federation
The time is right to join the Denver Coach Federation (DCF) and show your commitment
to the profession of coaching. If you’re not currently a member, please go to the DCF
website and join on-line. You can invite your coaching friends and colleagues to join
along with you so all will benefit from what DCF has to offer.
As a member of DCF, your voice will join with others’ voices to influence the future of
coaching in Colorado. There are numerous benefits to membership in DCF but one of the
most important is the opportunity to interact with other coaches prior to and during the
meetings, especially if you participate in one of the Special Interest Groups (SIGs). We
currently have four different SIGs and I’m sure there will be one to benefit you. The
SIGs are: Exploring Coaching as a Profession; Fundamentals of Starting a Coaching
Practice; Marketing for the Established Coach; Executive and Business Coaches. We also
have programs and events like workshops and teleclasses in addition to the monthly
meetings with an educational component.
With your participation as a DCF member, we can grow our membership, strengthen our
network, build skills, and increase awareness of the value and impact of coaching. And,
if you would like to volunteer for the Membership Committee, please let me know.
Thank You!
Karen McGee
