L’obiettivo principale del progetto Demoware è quello di stimolare l’innovazione e migliorare la coesione a livello europeo nel settore del riuso delle acque. Si tratta di un settore strategico, poiché le prospettive del riuso delle acque sono di crescita esponenziale. La mancanza di una regolamentazione adeguata, competenze e consapevolezza pubblica compromette tuttavia la capacità europea di sviluppare adeguati progetti per il riuso dell’acqua. Demoware, attraverso l’integrazione di alcuni siti dimostrativi atti a destinare il riuso dei reflui a fini agricoli, urbani o industriali, mira a migliorare il potenziale di riuso delle acque eliminando le barriere che ne limitano un utilizzo più estensivo. In Puglia, nella Capitanata, è previsto uno dei 10 siti dimostratori, gestito dalla società Fiordelisi insieme all’IRSA CNR, sede locale. L’ARTI è chiamata a fornire il proprio contributo nell’ambito delle seguenti azioni e attività: • Modelli di business e strategie di prezzo (WP4) – Sviluppo di una corretta strategia di prezzo per il riuso europeo delle acque (Task 4.4), che riguarda la definizione di schemi finanziari innovativi, strategie di prezzo per le imprese operanti nel settore, la valutazione di costi/benefici delle soluzioni rispetto ad alcuni casi pilota; • Governance per il riuso delle acque: politiche, impegno pubblico e collaborazione tra gli stakeholder (WP5) - Imparare dal presente (Subtask 5.1.2), è diretto ad affrontare le barriere non tecnologiche allo sviluppo di sistemi di riuso dell’acqua e riguarda le politiche, l’accettazione e il coinvolgimento del pubblico, la collaborazione degli stakeholder; • Disseminazione (WP7) - disseminazione verso gli utenti finali e altri rilevanti stakeholders, che riguarda la disseminazione, fondamentale per il futuro sviluppo di una Direttiva sul riutilizzo dell’acqua, verso la popolazione e gli utilizzatori finali, le pubbliche amministrazioni e gli stakeholder rilevanti (istituzioni e organizzazioni europee). Durata Il progetto Demoware ha una durata di tre anni, da gennaio 2014 a dicembre 2016. 2. The challenge
Europe’s water resources are increasingly under stress, and this
situation has encouraged more active consideration of alternative
water sources as a strategic option to supplement water supplies
and protect natural resources. However, the ability of Europe’s com-munities
of taking advantage of water reuse opportunities is re-stricted
by low public confidence, inconsistent approaches to eval-uating
costs and benefits of reuse schemes, and poor coordination
of the professionals who design, implement and manage them.
Objectives of DEMOWARE
The DEMOWARE project brings together public authorities, regula-tors,
water utilities and companies, the research community and
the public to generate and share knowledge on innovative water
reuse schemes, with the following specific objectives:
Demonstrate the technical feasibility of innovative technologies
for water reclamation and reuse.
Demonstrate advanced monitoring and control options for the
fate of water constituents in water recycling schemes.
Demonstrate, using life-cycle and risk assessment method-ologies,
that the benefits associated to water reuse largerly
compensate the risks associated.
Increase and promote the marketability of water reuse schemes.
Improve the ability of reuse scheme operators to deliver socially
acceptable projects.
Promote awareness of water reuse practices among public ad-ministrations
and end-users.
Establish a European water reuse association to shape market
opportunities for European solution providers.
Project demonstration sites
