This document analyzes population trends in India using data from the 2011 census. It discusses key demography terms and examines registered births, deaths, and infant deaths from 2000 to 2009 for each state. Some main findings are that Maharashtra and Uttar Pradesh have the highest population growth, births declined along the decade, and the death rate drop has exceeded the birth rate drop leading to continued growth. Factors like education, family planning programs, and immigration affect population trends in each state.

2.  The
general science of studying population
 The
demography of any place helps to
understand the population, religion, language
and the ethnicity of that particular place.
 CENSUS
is a way to understand demography.
Census 2011- 7th operation post India’s
independence and 15th since its inception in
1981

3.  India’s
demography includes various
parameters like population, age structure,
sex ratio, employment, literacy and
income. We aim at studying the
population trends and sex ratio.

dictionary meaning of population is “all
the inhabitants of a particular place “

A census is the procedure of systematically
acquiring and recording information about the
members of a given population. It is a regularly
occurring and official count of a particular
population.

In India, it is conducted by the Government of
India.

observe the trends in no of registered
growths for the period 2000-2009 for all
the states and union territories
 To observe the trends in number of
registered deaths for the same period and
jurisdiction.
 To observe the trends in number of
registered infant deaths.

analysis for number of
registered births, number of
registered deaths and number of
registered infant deaths was done for
all the states and union territories for
the period 2000-2009, and some
observations mentioned below were
made.

10.  Maharashtra
and Uttar Pradesh continue to be
the highest contributors to the population
growth
 More or less the states remain at the same
place(+/-2)
 No much volatile change is observed in the
contribution by each state
 About 20% of states contribute to about
60.73% to the total population growth. The
states includeMaharashtra, UP, WB, Gujarat, TN and
