Containers and Kubernetes allow for code portability across on-premise VMs, bare metal or multiple cloud provider environments. Yet, despite this portability promise, developers may include configuration and application definitions that constrain or even eliminate application portability. In this meetup Oleg Chunikhin, CTO at Kublr, described best practices for “configuration as code” in a Kubernetes environment. He demonstrated how a properly constructed containerized app can be deployed to both Amazon and Azure using the Kublr platform, and how Kubernetes objects, such as persistent volumes, ingress rules and services, can be used to abstract from the infrastructure.
SDDC stands for Software-Defined Data Center, which is a modern approach to managing and provisioning data center resources using software-based technologies and virtualization. The primary goal of an SDDC is to abstract and virtualize the entire data center infrastructure, including compute, storage, networking, and security components, in order to create a more flexible, scalable, and automated environment for running and managing applications and workloads. Here's a detailed description of SDDC:
Abstraction and Virtualization: SDDC abstracts and virtualizes the underlying physical infrastructure, making it independent of the hardware. This abstraction allows data center resources to be allocated and managed dynamically through software, reducing reliance on specific hardware configurations.
Components:
Compute Virtualization: SDDC uses technologies like server virtualization (e.g., VMware vSphere, Microsoft Hyper-V) to create virtual machines (VMs) that run applications. These VMs are decoupled from the physical servers, enabling better resource utilization and mobility.
Storage Virtualization: SDDC abstracts storage resources and manages them as software-defined storage (SDS). It allows for features like automated data tiering, replication, and scaling without being tied to specific storage hardware.
Network Virtualization: Software-defined networking (SDN) is a critical component of SDDC. It decouples network services from the physical infrastructure, making it easier to configure and manage complex network topologies. Technologies like VMware NSX and Cisco ACI are examples of SDN solutions.
Security Virtualization: SDDC incorporates security through micro-segmentation and network security policies. Security policies can be defined and enforced at the virtualization layer, providing granular control over traffic and reducing the attack surface.
Automation and Orchestration: SDDC relies heavily on automation and orchestration tools to streamline operations. Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and configuration management tools enable administrators to define data center configurations in code and automate provisioning, scaling, and maintenance tasks.
Scalability and Flexibility: SDDC architectures are inherently scalable. Resources can be easily added or removed as needed, and workloads can be migrated seamlessly between different parts of the infrastructure. This agility allows data centers to adapt to changing business requirements.
Centralized Management: SDDC provides a single pane of glass for managing the entire data center infrastructure. Administrators can monitor, configure, and troubleshoot resources from a centralized management console, reducing complexity and improving operational efficiency.
Cost Efficiency: By abstracting and virtualizing hardware resources, SDDC can help optimize resource utilization, reducing hardware sprawl and associated costs. Automation also leads to operational cost savings by minimizing manual interv

Virtualize Application Security Today - Hardware is No Longer Needed.pptxAvi Networks
IT security has been hardware-dependent due to the computational requirements to perform advanced security tasks like encryption and content inspection. But virtual compute resources have improved to the point that hardware-specific products are no longer necessary. The reliance on customized encryption chips and content scanning silicon limits one's ability to use cloud technologies and move to a modern application/containerized architecture. Physical appliances block the agility and elasticity that IT practitioners want from their virtual environments. Virtualized security technologies can be deployed without compromising the performance and protection of the applications and data. Attend this webinar to:
Understand how today's technology have made virtualized security possible
Discover how security features like TLS/SSL encryption can be scaled in virtual networks

Effective Application Security in Software Delivery lifecycle using Deployment Firewall and DBOM
The modern software delivery process (or the CI/CD process) includes many tools, distributed teams, open-source code, and cloud platforms. Constant focus on speed to release software to market, along with the traditional slow and manual security checks has caused gaps in continuous security as an important piece in the software supply chain. Today organizations feel more susceptible to external and internal cyber threats due to the vast attack surface in their applications supply chain and the lack of end-to-end governance and risk management.
The software team must secure its software delivery process to avoid vulnerability and security breaches. This needs to be achieved with existing tool chains and without extensive rework of the delivery processes. This talk will present strategies and techniques for providing visibility into the true risk of the existing vulnerabilities, preventing the introduction of security issues in the software, resolving vulnerabilities in production environments quickly, and capturing the deployment bill of materials (DBOM).
