5. SCOPE OF SOCIAL WORK
1. Public Assistance:
This is about economic and social help based on
the test of means. The aged, blind, poor and
disable people come under this scope.
2. Social insurance:
Practically it covers up social risks. The benefits
to people who make contribution to society. E.g.
medical treatment in sick or injury, pension or
cash to dependent members or wife.
6. 3. Family Welfare Service:
It provides family with social fundamental
assistance and counseling especially in marriage,
health, economic problem, rising and bringing up
children.
4. Child Welfare :
This provides the establishments of necessary
institutions for socially disable children like or
orphans, born of the unmarried couples, helpless
etc. Which consists temporary residence, child care
Centre, recreational and cultural facilities, holiday
house for low income children.
7. 5. Community Welfare Service:
It consists establishment of urban community
development centers, improvement of slum
areas, such as provision of sanitation, health,
education, care etc. employment opportunity
for women, residence for homeless and
immigrants, holiday house for children,
community welfare service in rural area.
8. 6. Women Welfare Service:
The women welfare program in Nepal are safe
motherhood program, women protection,
family counseling, marriage counseling, income
generating program etc.
9. 7. Labor Welfare service:
According to the international Labor
organization, such services and facilities should
be provided to laborers that they can fulfill the
responsibility in the vicinity/neighborhood in
the health and favorable environment. Like good
health and high morality. Family
management,counceling, advocacy for labor
right, health, education norms and values and
come under this
10. 8. Welfare Service for Handicapped:
This provides care for both mentally and
physically handicapped people, Ashram,
organization, hostel, rehabilitation, units of
small products for the ones who have unique
quality, Especial school, counseling etc.
9. Welfare Service for Aged and Infirm:
The activity of social work for those people is
establishment of Ashram, provision of
recreational facilities, physical assistance,
psychological assistance.
11. 10. School Social Work:
The activities like counseling service for school
children, their parents and teachers on the solution
of occurred problems. Like educational
dysfunctions, deteriorating school environment.
11. Correctional Service:
It refers to the establishments of different kinds of
organizations; prison, investigation, management
house, where the people for abnormal behaviors
are brought to correct their behavior and attitude.
These services include; recreational activity,
counseling, professional training, rehabilitation etc.
12. 12. Youth Welfare Service:
Young and tender age most important stage of
human life. They must be provided ample
opportunities for their self expression,
companionship, community life as well as
national service to develop themselves and
make contribution to nation.
