professional discipline that seeks
to help the welfare of communities,
individuals, families, and groups.

brought in the behavior and
personality of the client.
Psychosocial assessment is a
key tool used in casework.
7. Definition:-
“Social casework is a work
performed by a Social Worker
with a case or an individual to
solve his/her problems and help
in that extent that he/she can
adjust and develop within the
society”.
8. According to Miss Richmond,
“Social casework is an art of
doing different things for and
with different people by
cooperating with them to achieve
at one and at the same time their
own and their society’s
betterment.”

Initially social casework was

agencies and institutions.
It may be in some of the Holy
places like Temples, Churches,
Mosques and so on.
13. Today social casework is practiced
in many agencies and Institutions.
They are like:-
Hospitals, Clinics, Courts, Industries,
Military organizations, Family
welfare agency, Child welfare agency,
Institutions for the Aged, Destitute,
Orphans etc.
14. Current Trends
Caseworkers are now more aware
of their own contribution to human
welfare. As a profession it has now
gained more popularity. One of the
current trends is increased stress
on the importance of research.
