Entry Level-
Essential Question: How do countries around the world celebrate Halloween similarly and
differently from the American tradition?
Before assignment begins:
Students will complete a quick write and write about their prior knowledge about
different Halloween traditions celebrated around the world.
Formative Assessment-
Students will research on the internet and provide evidence for their answers.
Tasks to be completed:
Students will complete a quiz about how each country celebrates Halloween.
Students will complete a quick write of what they have learned so far in the lesson
about how Halloween is celebrated around the world compared to the American
tradition.
I will hold a discussion in class once a week. I will ask students what they have
learned so far. I will ask them questions about how each country celebrates
Halloween differently than others.
I will have students create flashcardsabout different themes and traditions of
Halloween for each country.
Summative Assessment-
After all the researchand tasks are completed during the formative assessment:
Students will be given a multiple choice question test asking them about each of the
fourteen countries that I had them learn about. They will be tested on how each
country celebratesHalloween differently and what is the significance behind each
country’s beliefs about Halloween.
Students will present their poster board to the class. They will present their board
with their group.
