Tomas Lamanauskas, Deputy Director General at the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority in Bahrain discusses how the country is liberalizing its communications provision and moving from service based competition to infrastructure based competition
Discusses the business imperative for mobile operators/carriers to generate a significant amount of their revenue from non-subscriber sources. The reasons behind the imperative are (1) the increasing cost of building and maintaining a competitive wireless network capable of delivering broadband data to subscribers consistent with the growing demand for mobile web, apps and other high bandwidth mobile services/media, and (2) the dropping or flattening of the voice margins and data margins on revenue from charges to subscribers. Consequently, to generate ROI on the cap ex on advanced mobile networks, the operators have no choice but to start generating substantially more revenue from non-subscriber sources.
Head to Head - The Battle between the Bellheads and the Netheads for control ...Pieter Geldenhuys
Part 1: When the infrastructure is ubiquitous and operates as a utility, like water or electricity, we will move beyond the current paradigm of cyberspace. What happens when information and knowledge are accessible to all who choose to look? What happens when eBusiness, eHealth and eLiteracy have become an invisible normality? What happens after the Ubiquitous Internet has irreparably changed our very understanding of the world we live in? A new Digital Value Chain will be required when the Netheads and Bellheads pit their business models against each other in an epic battle where the only winner is bound to be the consumer. Who will find the right balance between the investments required to support the infrastructure and the money that inevitably will flow to edge of the network where the intelligence and power resides?
In this presentation we will discuss the basic of internet, the basic parts and it’s relationship with e-business.

Cisco Carrier Packet Transport System: Foundation for Next-Generation Transport Cisco Canada
The Cisco Carrier Packet Transport (CPT) System is the first Packet-Optical Transport System (P-OTS) built on standards-based Multiprotocol Label Switching Transport Profile (MPLS-TP) technology. It unifies both packet and transport technologies, giving service providers a strong foundation for the transport technologies, giving service providers a strong foundation for the next generation of transport. This P-OTS platform supports DWDM, OTN, Ethernet, and MPLS-TP integrated in a single system. And it smoothly interoperates with existing deployed IP MPLS networks.
The presentation is ideal for people who needs to know how Bluecoat packetshaper could be beneficial to any organization. Especially with organizations having problems with Data network visibility traversing across WAN/LAN traffic.

Agile Software Development with Scrum – IntroductionBlackvard
The Scrum methodology of Agile software development was inspired from and grew out of the shortcomings of traditional waterfall management. Unlike waterfall techniques, Scrum methods emphasize team collaboration and communication, functioning software know-how, and focus strongly on the ability to adapt and be responsive to any and all emerging business situations.
The Scrum and Agile IT methodologies are proven project management styles and business approaches that assist companies in identifying company goals as well as customer needs. Through frequent adaptation and inspection, these leadership methods promote team member accountability, self-organization, and allow for high-quality projects to be completed quickly.

The role of the Non-Executive Director can appear to those sitting outside of Boards to be shrouded in secrecy. What is a Non-Executive Director? What do they do? And why be a Non-Executive Director?
Jointly in our roles advising the Boards of a range of organisations, and the Directors who sit on them, we
are often asked what information a new Non-Executive Director should be aware of. Through combining our experience and perspective in providing Board advice, we have attempted to provide a Guide that answers both the ‘obvious’ questions to ask and issues to be aware of, together with the detail and summary of the working mechanics of the Board and the key legislation Non-Executive Directors need to understand.

Securing your Kubernetes cluster_ a step-by-step guide to success !KatiaHIMEUR1
Today, after several years of existence, an extremely active community and an ultra-dynamic ecosystem, Kubernetes has established itself as the de facto standard in container orchestration. Thanks to a wide range of managed services, it has never been so easy to set up a ready-to-use Kubernetes cluster.
However, this ease of use means that the subject of security in Kubernetes is often left for later, or even neglected. This exposes companies to significant risks.
In this talk, I'll show you step-by-step how to secure your Kubernetes cluster for greater peace of mind and reliability.

Effective Application Security in Software Delivery lifecycle using Deployment Firewall and DBOM
The modern software delivery process (or the CI/CD process) includes many tools, distributed teams, open-source code, and cloud platforms. Constant focus on speed to release software to market, along with the traditional slow and manual security checks has caused gaps in continuous security as an important piece in the software supply chain. Today organizations feel more susceptible to external and internal cyber threats due to the vast attack surface in their applications supply chain and the lack of end-to-end governance and risk management.
The software team must secure its software delivery process to avoid vulnerability and security breaches. This needs to be achieved with existing tool chains and without extensive rework of the delivery processes. This talk will present strategies and techniques for providing visibility into the true risk of the existing vulnerabilities, preventing the introduction of security issues in the software, resolving vulnerabilities in production environments quickly, and capturing the deployment bill of materials (DBOM).
Speakers:
Bob Boule
Robert Boule is a technology enthusiast with PASSION for technology and making things work along with a knack for helping others understand how things work. He comes with around 20 years of solution engineering experience in application security, software continuous delivery, and SaaS platforms. He is known for his dynamic presentations in CI/CD and application security integrated in software delivery lifecycle.
Gopinath Rebala
Gopinath Rebala is the CTO of OpsMx, where he has overall responsibility for the machine learning and data processing architectures for Secure Software Delivery. Gopi also has a strong connection with our customers, leading design and architecture for strategic implementations. Gopi is a frequent speaker and well-known leader in continuous delivery and integrating security into software delivery.
