This document provides information about a case study conducted at Magadu Dairy Farm at Sokoine University of Agriculture. The study aimed to investigate how good heifer selection, animal hygiene and husbandry can facilitate high milk production. Data was collected through interviews and questionnaires. Key findings include: 1) 38 of 178 cattle at Magadu Dairy Farm are used for milk production, producing 150-200 liters per day to meet consumer demand. 2) Dairy enterprises provide income through milk and by-products like cheese and yogurt. 3) Ensuring animal welfare through proper nutrition, health and living conditions can optimize milk production.
