Stages of learning Narayaneeyam
Stage1- To recite the same properly with the necessary pauses at
the right place and splitting the words mainly for Nitya Parayana
Stage 2- Understand the broad meaning of the slokas so that basic
meaning is understood- (Google Stops here).
Stage 3: Understanding the word by word meaning without looking
at the derivation of the words
Stage 4a: Understanding the word by word meaning and derivation
of the words both verb and noun, adjective etc, alankaram etc
Stage 4b: Understanding the Vrittham, Chandas etc
Beyond stage 2 this you require Swadhyayam and Guru. Sit with dictionary ,other

One example where beyond stage
2 is required
समाजृम्भथा: in all sites of Google
will give you “Thou grew up into”
meaning. Unless we go deep into
the meaning (for which deep
knowledge of Sanskrit is required).
Today’s session is dedicated to
Sri Anantha Rama Shastri- Kochi
Dr . Madhukar Pai is his grandson
who worked yesterday on sloka 3
for Stage 4.
He is a Dr. by profession but has
