Introduction
• A cyborg, a contraction of “cybernetic
organism", is a being with
both organic and biomechatronic body parts.
• The term cyborg is not the same thing as bionic
or biorobot ; it applies to an organism that has
restored function or enhanced abilities due to
the integration of some artificial component or
technology that relies on some sort of feedback.
• Cyborgs are commonly thought of as mammals,
including humans, they might also conceivably
be any kind of organism.
History
• The term Cyborg was coined in 1960 by Manfred
Clynes and Nathan S. Kline.
• D. S. Halacy's Cyborg: Evolution of the Superman in
1965 featured an introduction which spoke of a "new
frontier" that was "not merely space, but more
profoundly the relationship between 'inner space' to
'outer space' – a bridge...between mind and matter.“
• In science fiction, the most recognizable portrayal of a
cyborg is a human being with visibly mechanical parts,
such as the superhero Cyborg from DC Comics
CYBORG
def
A cyborg is essentially a man-machine system in which the control
mechanisms of the human portion are modified externally by drugs
or regulatory devices so that the being can live in an environment
different from the normal one;
Cyborg is a combination of man and machine;
Different from robot;
Used to repair or overcome physical and mental constraints.
Types Of Cyborg
1. Convenient Cyborg
Convenient Cyborgs may refer to any external
provision of an exoskeleton for the satisfying
altered fancy needs of the body.
2. Conditional Cyborg
Conditional Cyborg includes bionic implants,
replanting the lost or damaged body for the
normal living in the present environment.
Difference Between Cyborg And Robot
Cyborg
• Presence of Life i.e., a cyborg is alive
while a robot isn’t;
• cyborgs are a combination of a living
organism and a machine. It doesn’t
necessarily have to be human; it can
be a dog, a bird, or any other living
thing;
• a man-machine system in which the
control mechanisms of the human
portion.
Robot
• A robot is basically a machine
that is very advanced;
• A robot is only capable of doing what
it was programmed to do while
a cyborg;
• robots working in factories that do the
repetitive tasks.
Advantages
And
Disadvantages
• Prolong life
• Enable ones to lead a normal life
• Give a part of the body back
• Improves the quality of life
Advantages
• Quite expensive
• Psychological Problems
• The risk of rejection
• Trained doctors needed
Disadvantages
Applications

Cochlear
implants
A cochlear implant is a small electronic device
that electrically stimulates the cochlear nerve
(nerve for hearing).
Cochlear implants may provide help in hearing
patient that are deaf due to sensory hair cells
in their cochlea;
It is an alternative method of treatment for
profoundly deaf people, mostly children;
It is estimated that in India, there are 1 million
profoundly deaf children and most of them still
remain deaf
Future Enhancement
We may have more and
more artificial body parts-
arms, legs, heart, eyes and
so on – till one might end
up finally as a brain in a
wholly artificial body;
Cyborgology will
concentrates on the
development of conditional
cyborg.
Conclusion
• Human and their limited capabilities, human sense the world in a restricted
way;
• Even Cyborg has some major defects and wrong sides as like any
technologies evolving now days;
• Finally, I would like to say that if future is Artificial Intelligence robots, then
to protect mankind, we will must need some TERMINATORs. They all are
CYBORGs because by making HUMAN CYBORGS.
THANK YOU!!
