ABSTRACT
In this modern world, day by day the advancement in technology is increasing
rapidly. Humans involvement with devices are seen everywhere across the globe .
The technology is making the human life easier and better. As of now the
technology is also taking part in different fields like military, medical, industries
etc. Cyborg is one such type of technology which is also capturing the eyes. It is
one of the finest technology which is trying to establish its base by reforming the
human body. It is showing most prominent result in repairing or restoring the lost
or damaged body part of human form.
INTRODUCTION
 A Cyborg is abbreviated as Cybernetic Organism, which is made
by both biological and artificial parts.
 In recent trend of Cyborg technology, it is merely seen as the
enhanced abilities of human race due to technology advancement .
 Cyborg are portrayed with physical and mental abilities which
exceeds a human.
 In recent trend of Cyborg, It is mostly used for overcome the
physical and metal constraint of human body.
JOURNEY OF CYBORG
 The Cybernetics is deprived of Cyborg which is coined by
Norbert Wiener in 1948.
 The term Cyborg is extracted from the Greek word for
Steersman.
 The term Cyborg gain its popularity in the early 1960’s.
 The origin of Cyborg is attributed by two US research
scientists, who used it to refer as an enhanced human being
who could survive in any environmental condition.
KIND OF CYBORG ENTITIES
 Cyborgs are categorized into two types , on the basis of their Structural and functional role .
 Cyborg are used to replace the lost or damaged body part for normal living in present environment.
 Cyborg technology can be of four types which are Restorative, Normalizing, Reconfiguring and
Enhancing.
 Restorative: This technology help to restore lost function and replace the lost organ of human body.
 Normalizing : This technology help to restore some creature to get its normality.
 Reconfiguring: It help to create post human abilities which are some equal to human but somehow enhanced version.
 Enhancing: It is that part of Cyborg technology which tells about the enhancement in the feature of Cyborg due to
instant upgrade in real world technology.
APPLICATIONS
 There are very few articles related to Cyborg. It is mostly found in Sci-Fi literature as a threat to human-kind. But
there are some article which tells about the Cyborg as post human.
 In near future it will be possible to reconstruct shoulder, hip-joint replacement and knee replacement.
 It will also increase the life expectancy by improving life gadgets like stents, pacemakers, renal dialysis,
artificial heart and kidney. As of now the Cyborg technology is taking parts as Spectacles and hearing aids.
 In society it is hardly accepted as normal , There will restriction of these things like other in crowded place around
the world. There are some sorts of denial by the society which is creating the problem.
 In Cyborg the scientist are trying to implant chips for tracking and location, but failed as it might cause
infection to human body.
 It can be included in Handicapped Sport which might be interesting, it will be able to provide real level of
Competition as of normal sports.
EXISTING CYBORG
 PROSTHETICS : It is defined as the part of Cyborg technology which helps to provide previously
missing or overcome defective functionality. This helps the human to achieve normal functionality of body
parts after the recovery.
 Prosthetics is consist of three type of relationship with human body: External Prosthesis, Exo- Prosthesis
and Endo-Prosthesis.
 ORTHOTICS : It provide human body an extend to human body with some extra human capabilities . In
simple term we can say it provide some extra human capabilities to human body.
 Orthotics is consist of three type of relationship with human body: External Orthosis, Exo- Orthosis and
Endo-Orthosis.
SOCIAL CYBORG / INDIVIDUAL CYBORG
 Social Cyborg : This term is used to tell that Cyborg are capable to be
used in large networks of communication and control. The Cyborg can be
replaceable to human components to function. It may be very useful for
privatized work purpose.
 Individual Cyborg : It is referred as the Cyborg which is implanted in
human body. It will be connected to different human body individual and
the function of Cyborg can be observed.
 Neil Harbisson is one of the example of individual Cyborg.
CYBORG PROLIFERATION IN SOCIETY
 IN MEDICINE : In medicine , there are two type of Cyborg which are restorative
and enhanced .In “Restorative” it will help to restore lost function , organ and limbs.
The main aim of “Restorative” is to repair the broken or missing body part.
 One most famous Cyborg used as medicine is BCI (Brain – Computer Interface)
which provide a direct path of communication from brain to an external device. It will
be helpful for those who has lost eyesight and also paralyzed ones.
 IN MILITARY : In military Organizations , Cyborg are used as tactical advantage for
less damage to human life form. It can be in the form of insects or drone etc.
 One of the famous Cyborg weapon is DARPA – Cyborg which helps to transmit data
from the enemy side. It include information like the movement of enemy and also able
to provide the traces of enemy explosives.
CHALLENGES
 Technology has driven the world from a primitive state towards a highly
sophisticated and complex modern world.
 As Cyborg is an ideology of human body with some advancement in features. Later on,
it will gain the capabilities of restructuring the human body. The physical and mental
system will be repairable and replaceable.
 But the advancement of technology might be curse for Cyborg as it can be able to
controlled by another form of communication devices like Smartphone or personal
computers.
CONCLUSION
 Given this, society should surely insist that the scientists and engineers responsible for
developing this new technology exercise the appropriate level of social responsibility.
 Insistence on safeguards will be necessary to stop the potential harmful effects.
 At some point, however, humans will have to deal with the underlying problems at hand,
which touch on aspects of human existence.
 Human character that go right to the heart of what most people believe it is to be human, and
this will not be a simple conundrum to answer.
