Intro to CVC
To begin I would explain what a CVC was using the CVC smartboard lesson. I
could also explain what a vowel or a consonant was and how a consonant was in
each letter.

CVC Words with Motion and Singing
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oDVAhDyHZaA
● I would split up the lesson with the Youtube video above. This would allow
kids to add some motion to the lesson and allow each student to say and
sound out the words.
● This would help student who learn by song, movement, or speaking to
understand CVC words
Back to CVC Smartboard Presentation
Next I would have the students sit back down and get back to the Smartboard
presentation. The slides below are next.
For this I would allow the students to raise
their hand to answer and give them the option
of writing or drawing the solution on the board.
For this slide I would have the students
come up with their own ideas and write
them out on individual whiteboards.
Then as a class we would group up to
discuss.

Back to the CVC Smartboard Presentation Continued...
Now we would do more work on our whiteboards. I would have kids tell me the
other CVC words that they found. Next we would go over long and short sounds
and I would explain why cvc words were all short vowel sounds.

Back to the CVC Smartboard Presentation Continued...
Next on the smartboard I would have kids come up to circle the CVC words. I
would have everyone write these words down on their whiteboard. For the next
slide I would have them first tell me what the picture were and then help me
figure out which vowel to use.

CVC worksheet
Finally the kids would go over the CVC words individually
With this CVC worksheet. We would then go over the
Answers on the smartboard.

Universal Design
● This lesson supports student different needs and ways of learning.
● CVC words were represented in a song, by me saying them, in pictures and
on worksheets for students who need to see things in all different ways.
● The students also had many different ways of expressing what they knew by
writing on their individual whiteboard, writing on the smartboard, singing
the song, answering out loud and completing their individual worksheet.
● The students could use lots of different part of the lesson to help engage
them and understand what was going on.
