SYNOPSIS
 Architect with 29 years of Project Management experience gained in the private
and public sectors with international contractors & consultants mainly in the
Middle East (Qatar 13 years, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and Lebanon) delivering
wide spectrum of mega size projects (ports, iconic towers, buildings, museums,
libraries, theatres, infrastructure, etc..) from inception to completion.

Thirteen years with AECOM with the last seven years on the New Port Project as
the Project Manager responsible for three of the ports building packages with
emphasis on architecture, fit out and furniture with a horizontal spread into other
disciplines (Electrical, mechanical, telecommunication and security systems,
infrastructure, etc…) on a wide range of buildings from a 110 meters high iconic
tower to administrative offices, accommodation, mosques and utility buildings.

Position: Project Manager for Buildings’ Packages
Client: Government of Qatar- New Port Project Steering Committee
Project Brief:
The New Port Project (NPP) is one of the largest “Greenfield” projects in the world,
spanning 26.5 km2. The overall objective of the NPP is to construct a world-class
Port. The Project Master Plan includes a new port (19.5 km2), a Naval Base for the
Qatar Emiri Naval Forces (4.5 km2) and a Canal for Qatar Economic Zone (2.5
km2).
The QAR 27 Billion (USD 7.4 Billion) megaproject is located approximately 25km
south of Doha on the coastal strip north of Mesaieed Industrial City and south of Al
Wakra in the southern section of the Qatar Economic Zone 3. Currently the project
is in excess of 80 separate contract packages.
The Project is managed by the New Port Project Steering Committee, chaired by the
Minister of Transport, His Excellency Jassim Bin Saif Al Sulaiti, and includes the
Programme Management Consultant, AECOM, WorleyParsons as Engineering
Design Consultant and COWI as Environmental Consultant. The NPP Project
Executive Director, with a project team, manages the Consultants and Contractors.
Notable accomplishments
Over 7 years working on the New Port Project with duties spread over the whole
port with the main focus on buildings, architecture, fit out and furniture.
Responsibilities varied from establishment of the project offices, to coordination with
statutory authorities for transfer of land deeds, master planning approvals and
building permits for marine works, Stakeholder Co-ordination, management of the
Building Design Consultant and Engineering Design Consultant for infrastructure
and utility buildings up to issuance of IFT deliverables, preparation and issuance of
tenders up to award of construction packages,

preparation of design, prequalification, tender, evaluation, award and site
supervision with testing, commissioning and handover.
 Coordination with statutory authorities for land transfer and obtaining of the
New Port land deed.
 Assist in the preparation of the master plan according to the “Ministry of
Municipality and Urban Planning / MMUP’s” requirements. Set up and attend all
coordination meetings with MMUP and obtain MMUP’s” final approval on the
New Port Master Plan.
 Prepare, submit and obtain the building permits from MMUP and Wakrah
Municipality for the first two port construction packages: the Port Basin and the
Dredging contracts.
 Assist the client in becoming a self-permitting authority through numerous
correspondences and meetings with MMUP.
Port Buildings Packages
Work focused on architecture, fit out and furniture with a horizontal spread into other
disciplines and Infrastructure for the New Port’s Building Packages: the Port
Administration Authority facilities, the Port Marine Unit, the Coast Guard Area,
Container Terminal and the General Cargo Terminal. Originally started work on all 5
packages then main focus was on 3 packages only. The other two packages
(Container Terminal and the General Cargo Terminal) were issued as Design & Built
to 2 different contractors. The 3 packages cover around 70 buildings, 3 of which are
iconic and include a control tower 110 meters high designed by an international UK
firm (PLP). The buildings total built up area is around 120,000 m2 with expected
occupancy to exceed 2500 persons to cover all port’s operation staff. The 3
packages also include 21 utility buildings and all infrastructure works within the
boundary limits. The value of all works is estimated at QR 2.5 billion.
Main duties and responsibilities:
 Management of the Engineering Design Consultant (Worley Parsons)
responsible for the preparation of the original buildings functional requirements
(design briefs) , procurement and management of the Building Design
Consultant up to issuance of IFT deliverables by the Building Design
Consultant.
 Leading and chairing the Stakeholder consultations associated with the delivery
of Buildings functional requirements. List of stakeholders included MWANI / the
Port Authority, Ministry of Interior, General Authority of Customs, AWQAF,
HASSAD, MAWASHI, Civil Aviation, Coast Guard, Internal Security Forces,
QCDD and the Ministry of Environment.
 Assist the Engineering Design Consultant in the preparation of the Building
Design Consultant’s prequalification documents and evaluation.
 Assist in the preparation of the different tender strategies for the procurement of
the “Building Design Consultant” presented to the NPP committees, tender
documents, tender issue and evaluation up to award of contract.
 Management of the Engineering Design Consultant and the Building Design
Consultant throughout all design stages and stakeholder coordination to ensure
all requirements have been implemented up to issuance of technical tender
documentation.
 Management of the Engineering Design Consultant responsible for the design
of the infrastructure package from detailed design until issue of tender
documents.
 Preparation of constructability review reports: Heading a team of 40 engineers

from different disciplines.
 Preparation of Tender documents for the “Buildings and Infrastructure
construction packages”, tender, evaluation up to award of contracts.
 Manage the “Engineering Design Consultant” in the preparation of the Design &
Build Concept design deliverables for the visitors centre.
 Preparation of the Visitors Centre tender documents.
 Chair and Minute progress, technical, design and stakeholder meetings.

Client: Barwa
Barwa Al Khor Development with a budget of around QR 35 billion is a mixed use
megaproject spanning 550 hectares and will accommodate 105,000 people. The
development includes over 7.5 million square meters of residential, commercial and
retail, a hotel, golf course, schools, nurseries, Mosques, public beach and plazas.
Duties and responsibilities:
 Direct follow up with the MMUP for Master Plan coordination meetings and
approval.
 Direct follow up with Statutory Authorities.
 End user coordination and meetings.
 Day to day coordination with the Abu Dhabi office preparing the Master plan.

Position: Assistant Project Manager
Client: Nasser Bin Khaled
The Al Waab city with a budget of around QAR 7.0 Billion will accommodate 8000
people in over 2000 homes, ranging from luxurious villas to contemporary
apartments. The development includes over 100,000 square meters of retail space
and 200,000 square meters of office accommodation - all spread over 1.25million
square meters and supported by considered infrastructure and 10,700 off-road
parking spaces. At the heart of the project, lies the multi-facility 50,000 m2 urban
plaza of Barahat Al Waab.
I was assigned as Assistant Project Manager for the whole project with main focus
on the Design phase of a 3 stories combined retail / office multiple showrooms
development (total 50,000 m2.) with a budget of QR 250 million.

 Site offices: Design, construction, site supervision and fit out with testing,
commissioning and handover.
 Direct follow up with local governmental agencies to obtain land transfers, land
deeds, master plan approval and building permits for the whole of Al Waab City
development.
 Day to day managing of the building design consultant on behalf of the
Client/developer. Direct report to internal Al Waab City Project Director and
Client representatives.
 Liaison with Client/Developer, design consultants (architects, engineers, and
interior designers) and end users (automobile dealership and high-end fashion
retail).
 Performance management of design consultant to ensure contractual
obligations, schedules and costs are maintained.
 Provide ongoing project status/progress reporting updates with all parties
throughout design and construction phases.
 Ensuring that all senior management is kept abreast of the project through the
appropriate reporting structures.
 Responsible for preparation of all internal and external project correspondence

Council for Culture, Arts and Heritage, with an emphasis on museums.
Duties and Responsibilities:
 Review the design at various stages of the design process.
 Monitor progress.
 Participate in coordination and progress meetings with Building Engineering
Department / Government agencies, QP, Turner International, local and
international consultants and specialist sub consultants.
 Site inspection visits and snag list for the NCCAH offices, National Theatre,
Fahd Bin Ali Fort and Museum Store.
 Ensure projects goals were being achieved on time.
 Involved in the preparation of architectural briefs for various landmark and
development projects.
 Preparation of Consultants scope of work, review of consultant’s proposals.

Position: Assistant General Manager.
Mouawad Village Broummana is a mixed use village with a hotel, apartments, Spa,
restaurants, shopping area, theater, ballrooms, etc. The scope included the
execution of all internal finishes.
Duties and Responsibilities:
 Managing a team of architects and engineers in the factory, office and site for
the execution of all internal finishes and wooden furniture for the following areas
within the mixed use hotel/ village: SPA, Ball room, French Restaurant, Cigar
Bar, Lobby Bar, Business Centre, Administration, Nursery and Hotel Lobby,
Hotel Baths and Corridors.
 Finishes included very intricate marble flooring and designs, each floor with
different designs, color and material- Intricate Ceiling Gypsum works, intricate
paint works and gold leaf applications, installation of old antique marble and
wooden fire places from China, custom made carpet installation, floor and wall
marble tiling for all bathrooms and all wooden works.
 Follow up on design reviews.
 Preparation and review of shop drawings submittals.
 Generating cutting lists for marble and their corresponding bill of quantities.
 Procurement of all material.
 Site/ office/ factory coordination.
 Office and client coordination including meetings, correspondences, progress
reports, etc…

Project: New ESCWA Headquarters: Beirut- Lebanon
Position: Project Manager
Alumco was awarded the contract related to the execution of the external envelope
of the new ESCWA headquarters in Beirut. An innovative unitized curtain wall
system comprising of a combination of glass, aluminum and granite used for the first
time in Lebanon and executed according to very strict International laws and under
the supervision of Technal France, Fairhurst International, Bureau Veritas, and with
the collaboration of internationally reputable companies such as Zamil Glass
Industries, Marmo Décor for the granite, Balexco Bahrain for the aluminum profiles
extrusion, Rhone Poullenc and Dow Corning for the gaskets and silicone, etc
Duties and Responsibilities:
 Coordination with the client Solidere, the main contractor A.C.C, Fairhurst
International the project management company, the consultants Pierre and Rafik
El Khoury and all trades involved.
 Follow up on shop drawings submittals and presentation.
 Generating cutting lists and their corresponding bill of quantities.
 Procurement of material: glass, granite, aluminum, sealants, gaskets, rock wool,
screws, bolts, etc.

Doha, Qatar Thirteen years with AECOM with the last seven years on the New Port Project as the Project Manager responsible for three of the ports building packages with emphasis on architecture, fit out and furniture with a horizontal spread into other disciplines (Electrical, mechanical, telecommunication and security systems, infrastructure, etc…) on a wide range of buildings from a 110 meters high iconic tower to administrative offices, accommodation, mosques and utility buildings. Projects Undertaken within AECOM November 2008 – December 2015 New Port Project, Qatar Aecom Middle East Position: Project Manager for Buildings’ Packages Client: Government of Qatar- New Port Project Steering Committee Project Brief: The New Port Project (NPP) is one of the largest “Greenfield” projects in the world, spanning 26.5 km2. The overall objective of the NPP is to construct a world-class Port. The Project Master Plan includes a new port (19.5 km2), a Naval Base for the Qatar Emiri Naval Forces (4.5 km2) and a Canal for Qatar Economic Zone (2.5 km2). The QAR 27 Billion (USD 7.4 Billion) megaproject is located approximately 25km south of Doha on the coastal strip north of Mesaieed Industrial City and south of Al Wakra in the southern section of the Qatar Economic Zone 3. Currently the project is in excess of 80 separate contract packages. The Project is managed by the New Port Project Steering Committee, chaired by the Minister of Transport, His Excellency Jassim Bin Saif Al Sulaiti, and includes the Programme Management Consultant, AECOM, WorleyParsons as Engineering Design Consultant and COWI as Environmental Consultant. The NPP Project Executive Director, with a project team, manages the Consultants and Contractors. Notable accomplishments Over 7 years working on the New Port Project with duties spread over the whole port with the main focus on buildings, architecture, fit out and furniture. Set up and attend all coordination meetings with MMUP and obtain MMUP’s” final approval on the New Port Master Plan.  Prepare, submit and obtain the building permits from MMUP and Wakrah Municipality for the first two port construction packages: the Port Basin and the Dredging contracts.  Assist the client in becoming a self-permitting authority through numerous correspondences and meetings with MMUP. Port Buildings Packages Work focused on architecture, fit out and furniture with a horizontal spread into other disciplines and Infrastructure for the New Port’s Building Packages: the Port Administration Authority facilities, the Port Marine Unit, the Coast Guard Area, Container Terminal and the General Cargo Terminal. Originally started work on all 5 packages then main focus was on 3 packages only. The other two packages (Container Terminal and the General Cargo Terminal) were issued as Design & Built to 2 different contractors. The 3 packages cover around 70 buildings, 3 of which are iconic and include a control tower 110 meters high designed by an international UK firm (PLP). The buildings total built up area is around 120,000 m2 with expected occupancy to exceed 2500 persons to cover all port’s operation staff. The 3 packages also include 21 utility buildings and all infrastructure works within the boundary limits. The value of all works is estimated at QR 2.5 billion. Main duties and responsibilities:  Management of the Engineering Design Consultant (Worley Parsons) responsible for the preparation of the original buildings functional requirements (design briefs) , procurement and management of the Building Design Consultant up to issuance of IFT deliverables by the Building Design Consultant.  Leading and chairing the Stakeholder consultations associated with the delivery of Buildings functional requirements. The development includes over 7.5 million square meters of residential, commercial and retail, a hotel, golf course, schools, nurseries, Mosques, public beach and plazas. Duties and responsibilities:  Direct follow up with the MMUP for Master Plan coordination meetings and approval.  Direct follow up with Statutory Authorities.  End user coordination and meetings.  Day to day coordination with the Abu Dhabi office preparing the Master plan. March 2005- July 2007 Al Waab City Development, Qatar Aecom Middle East Position: Assistant Project Manager Client: Nasser Bin Khaled The Al Waab city with a budget of around QAR 7.0 Billion will accommodate 8000 people in over 2000 homes, ranging from luxurious villas to contemporary apartments. The development includes over 100,000 square meters of retail space and 200,000 square meters of office accommodation - all spread over 1.25million square meters and supported by considered infrastructure and 10,700 off-road parking spaces. At the heart of the project, lies the multi-facility 50,000 m2 urban plaza of Barahat Al Waab. I was assigned as Assistant Project Manager for the whole project with main focus on the Design phase of a 3 stories combined retail / office multiple showrooms development (total 50,000 m2.) with a budget of QR 250 million. Mouawad Village Broummana is a mixed use village with a hotel, apartments, Spa, restaurants, shopping area, theater, ballrooms, etc. The scope included the execution of all internal finishes. October 1989 - August 1990 Company: Sabah Abi Hanna & Salem Al Marzouk- Kuwait Position: Architect  Prepared preliminary conceptual drawings for a competition entry for the Headquarters Office building of the “Petrochemical Industrial Company” (P.I.C.) in Kuwait, then the final design drawings after the project has been approved.  Participated in competition of the redesign of an existing park “Al Shaab Park” which involved the addition of new facilities such as a shopping mall, a sports center, a covered stadium, a day care centre and a library.  Work also included the preparation of design and working drawings for the renovation of all “National bank of Kuwait” branches and for the “Third Floor redesign” of the Amir’s residence, The BAYAN PALACE. This project also involved the selection of furniture, fabric, and material. Nov 1986- July 1987 Company: German Institute for Oriental Studies- Beirut, Lebanon Position: Architect  Prepared design and working drawings for a library and office extension to the German Institute for Oriental Studies, which is a Lebanese house dating back to the 1860’s.  Supervised construction and completed project with direct hire and sub- contracted forces.  Landscape design and execution.  Testing and commissioning.  Handover.
