Miley Cyrus And Hannah Montana
We all may be able to sing every lyric to the Hannah Montana theme song, but Miley Cyrus wouldn t
care to remember a single word to any of the songs created for her teenage alter ego. Cyrus blames
Hannah Montana for her body image issues and says playing the character morphed her perspective on
what real women should look like. The Adore singer discussed the trauma of dressing and acting like
someone she wasn t. I was made to look like someone that I wasn t, which probably caused some body
dysmorphia because I had been made pretty every day for so long, and then when I wasn t on that
show, it was like, Who the f**k am I? said Cyrus. She seems to have come to terms with who she is,
without the attachment of being Hannah Montana, and is

Benefits Of Soybean Breeding Programs Essay
Exotic soybean germplasm that has the potential to significantly increase seed yield has been
evaluated in several previous studies. Three high yielding germplasm lines that contain exotic ancestry
have been released by USDAARS and the Illinois Agricultural Experiment Station. The released lines
LG00 3372 from the cross PI 561319A × PI 574477 (Nelson and Johnson 2011a), LG04 6000 from
the cross PI 436682 × Lawrence (Nelson and Johnson 2012), and LG06 5798 from LG00 3372 x
LD00 3309 (Nelson et al. 2013) yielded significantly (P=0.05) more than the highest yielding check
cultivars in field tests. The releases of these germplasm lines provide evidence that exotic germplasm
can be used as a parent for soybean breeding programs to provide new genetic diversity as well as to
improve seed yield of US soybean cultivars.
Advances in biotechnology and statistical programs have made it more efficient to map the locations
of genes and QTL. However, complex quantitative traits including seed yield are often difficult to
identify and their use in soybean breeding programs can be complicated by epistasis, QTL by genetic
background interactions, and QTL by environment interactions (Bernardo 2008; Yang et al. 2008).
Strong interactions between QTL as well as between QTL and environments for seed yield have been
reported in soybean (Kim et al. 2012b; Lark et al. 1995). The objectives of this study were to map
QTL and to identify effects of the QTL and/or epistasis on important agronomic

John Lewis Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee (SNCC
John Lewis was one of the most notably influential leaders of the Student Nonviolent Coordinating
Committee, SNCC. SNCC was founded in the 1960s in Releigh, North Carolina and initially consisted
of black students as its members (Murphree 2006:11). The first members of this organization made
use of nonviolent ways of protests such as sitting in and occupation of certain public places. The
organization was successful in making other people aware of the injustices that black people were
usually exposed to. Moreover, SNCC supported more nonviolent protests such as the Freedom Rides
in 1961 and the March on Washington in 1963 which paved the way for the amendment of the Civil
Rights Act of 1964. John Lewis was born on February 21, 1940 in a town ... Show more content on

House of Representatives. In 2006 and 2009, together with 6 other lawmakers, Lewis was arrested
outside the Sudan embassy for holding a protest against the genocide incidences in Darfur (Thrush
2009). More so, he was also one of the eight U.S. Representatives who got arrested outside the U.S

Research Paper On Roberto Firmino
Big Game Player
Roberto Firmino also has the innate ability to turn up in the big games. We have seen relatively little
of him in the Premier League so far but his record in crunch games is good. Against the likes of
Manchester United, Manchester City, Chelsea and Arsenal he has scored 5 and assisted 3 in 8
appearances across all competitions. If you also simply look at the games where Liverpool made
tough work of the opposition, you will notice how crucial Roberto has been in the scoring. For
instance he struck twice in the 3 3 draw at Anfield to Arsenal, he scored twice and assisted once in the
thrilling last gasp 5 4 victory to Norwich at Carrow Road, he scored one and assisted the other in a
draw vs. Sunderland at Anfield and assisted the only goal of the game at Anfield against league
leaders Leicester. This of course isn t counting the second goal scored against Manchester United in
the Europa League first leg right at the death to extend Liverpool s lead crucially, thus allowing the
Merseyside club a crucial added advantage going into the second leg. Roberto Firmino has this to ...

Most would have one straight look and say the idea is simple, without Firmino Liverpool win only a
third of their games and with him they win half of them. However, the point here is Roberto hasn t
featured mostly in those games which have been fixtures for the Capital One Cup or FA Cup, two
competitions where Liverpool have fielded weakened teams . Hence, this statistic is a little difficult to
trust.
However, two very obvious occasions when a strong side bereft of Roberto Firmino has been fielded
to detrimental effect are, Liverpool s away fixture at Old Traffold against Manchester United and more

Overt Racism In Australia
Matthew Rawlings 20112410 Nationalism, Ethnicity, Race Essay
Instead of an overt racism that rejects individuals who do not fit into an existing Anglo Australian
template, contemporary racism relies on fear politics permeating heightened popular nationalism.
Discuss.
As we enter the 21st century, complex issues such as terrorism, immigration, multiculturalism, and
social cohesion have brought about a significant amount controversy and an abundance of emotive
rhetoric within Australian society. The fact that these issues have been politicised around a number of
elections has bought these matters to the forefront of public discussion, but rather than appealing to
the publics sense of compassion, the issues have been approached ... Show more content on

The growing number of displaced persons arising out of the Syrian Civil War in 2011 has become a
significant humanitarian crisis on a global scale, with several countries granting asylum to a number
of those effected. On the 9th of September 2015, the Australian Government announced that it will
make an extra 12,000 humanitarian places available in response to the conflicts in Syria and Iraq,
granting them a permanent visa. Australia has been largely criticised by the international community
regarding its special humanitarian stream identifying those most appropriate for resettlement, but
necessarily the most vulnerable people. The approach taken by the Australian Government, alongside
the continued sharing of news articles portraying migrants as rapists is demonstrative of this
heightened sense of popular nationalism identified in contemporary society, stemming from fear
tactics, as well as the an increased the sharing of information and opinion via new

Reflective Personal Reflection
It is quite fascinating the shifts our minds can create, how frequently we experience behavioral
changes and how much of an impact theses alterations can have on our lives. To me this is how
reflective psychology is in our development as humans. And for a very long time, my interests have
been drawn into the field of care and mental health. In particular, I have fixated my attention into the
growth and development of children. From a very young age, it has been an interest of mine to
understand the complex behavior certain children possessed. I mean the smallest of tantrums I saw
being displayed by my own siblings to me were quite interesting. I would encounter the bullying of
other children because of lack of understanding of the English language. While at the same time, I
would be so drawn and pleased with those who understood my struggle and tried to educate me. To
me, part of my childhood was certainly an amazing experience. I mean I lived in a Caribbean country
where I felt free to play and enjoy life at any time. Then I migrated with my parents to the United
States and I felt like I was segregated from my own people because of my language barrier. It is so
interesting how much a single move can in a sense traumatize the brain of a child. Even though I am
exceptionally pleased with the arrangements taken by my parents to move us here, in order to give us
a brighter future. I felt very disconnected and confused as to why I had to encounter such a harsh
period, when I was

User Requirements
The user of the computer suite will be students completing their advanced apprenticeships (AA) and
wish to make an E Portfolio with all of their work on it. To achieve this I have chosen to use an online
office package available from OneDrive. This will make the students information more secure as thy
can save to an online storage space that is included in the package. The whole package is free and the
students can work on their AA from whatever location they want to when they log into their one drive.
OneDrive provides a word processing document with all of the properties needed for the students, a
spreadsheet document and PowerPoint document. Therefore the students will have all of the
applications that they need wherever they are all free of charge.
Also the students are required to be able to make videos at a basic level and edit the. For this I have
decided that the computers will use the software Microsoft Movie Maker. This has the capability to be
able to cut, edit and add effects videos quite easily. It is also free with Windows, which saves money
in the budget. I feel that this version of video editing will provide the students with enough to be able
to create good quality videos.
Finally the students want a phot editing software. For this I have chosen GIMP. This is a free service
that is available to download off the internet and provides most of the features that Photoshop has to

Kautilya s Theories On War Essay
Kautilya s Theories on War for the Twenty First Century
Intrigue, assassination, spies, and prostitutes make for captivating reading in Kautilya s Arthishastra.
One could easily dismiss this extensive composition as amusing literature from ancient times,
seemingly relevant today only in fiction or action adventure movies. Kautilya, an ancient Indian
military theorist and advisor to Chandragupta Maurya, is known as an extreme realist who by
comparison makes Machiavelli appear tame due to the brutality of his methods. Kautilya s
Arthashastra is a comprehensive compendium containing fifteen books providing kings and ministers
procedures for conquering, maintaining control of, and running states in the dangerous and uncertain
environment of ancient India. Of the fifteen books, three relate to war and national security and
contain several concepts relevant to modern times. Like Kautilia over two thousand years ago, the
United States (U.S.) military today faces a dangerous and uncertain global environment and therefore
must prepare for a wide array of contingencies. A brief review of three books contained in the
Arthashastra that relate to war and national security provide insight to key issues that challenged
Kautilya in his time and also challenge the U.S. military today; these issues are not addressed by other
military theorists and for this reason I believe that Kautilya s Arthashastra best explains the nature and
character of war in the 21st century.

Comparing The Theme Of Love In A Midsummer Night s Dream
To Be In Love With an Ass, Literally
Could you ever imagine yourself falling in love with an ass? No, not the jerkish guy down the street, a
literal ass. Can you imagine four days filled with declarations of love, hate, curses, cures, disgust, and
delight? An ultimatum so great it pits two people married for centuries against each other? Love is in
the air, and so is hate in Shakespeare s A Midsummer Night s Dream. Unfortunate circumstances fall
upon seven lovers in the woods one night, proving that love is more fickle than true.
Outside circumstances often play a role in love, but in the case of Titania and Bottom, an outside
circumstance brought them together completely. A flower hit by cupid s bow has the power to cause a

The King and Queen seemingly have been married forever, and most likely have been fighting for
forever as well. Oberon and Titania are fairies, meaning they help bring balance to nature, but they
have been neglecting their duties because of their argument. Titiana vents, And never, since the middle
summer s spring, Met we on hill, in dale, forest, or mead, By paved fountain or rush brook, or in the
beached margent of the sea (2.1.82). While they argue and avoid each other the nature they are
supposed to be taking care of is beginning to show the neglect, And, through this distemperature, we
see The season alter: hoary headed frosts Fall in the fresh lap of the crimson rose, and on old Heim s
thin and icy crown an odorous chaplet of sweet summer buds is, as in mockery, set (2.1.108). The
reason the King and Queen are fighting is rather strange, Oberon wants a mortal boy whom Titania
has taken as her ward. Oberon gives no reason as to why he wants the boy so bad, he probably just
wants him because Tatiana loves him so much. Titana befriended a mortal woman and spent hours
gossiping with her, laying on the sands by the shore, and when the mortal woman got pregnant and
died during childbirth, Titans made a promise to raise the child. Oberon was annoyed with Tatiana s
stubbornness and set out to make her pay by cursing her to fall in love with something humiliating,

The Pricing Objective Of The Marketing Strategy
The pricing objective of the marketing strategy is profit centered, meaning the new services are
expected to maximize the company profits. In evaluating the target audience, gym participants are not
found to be price sensitive, generally. Rather, they are value conscious and tend to place a high
emphasis on quality in evaluating the membership cost. People have various motives in joining a gym
including socializing, recreation, taking shape, losing weight, or health requirements. Because of the
intangible nature of the gym experience and health related matters, people do tend to be more value
conscious than price sensitive.
Understanding how the customers evaluate the price aids in choosing an appropriate pricing basis
strategically. For the new services, ABC Fitness will take a markup pricing approach with a
predetermined rate of 40%, set by the executives. 24 hour access. The costs associated with this
service include a video surveillance system, access cards, club fixtures, and promotional programs.
Using secondary data (Snap Fitness, 2014), a rough estimate has been developed and presented in
Table 1.
Assuming a 40% markup, the total cost of adding this service comes to a total of $43,400. The new
service is expected to increase the memberships by 25% annually. Over a window of 5 years, under
this assumption, the current membership size will grow from 200 to 488; an expected 288 sign ups for
this add on service which is equivalent to an average of 58 new

The solubility of a substance is the amount of that substance that dissolved in a given amount of
solvent. Solubility of substance is affected by some factors such as temperature, pressure and the
nature of the intermolecular forces or interionic forces in both the solute and the solvent. The
solubility of solid and liquids usually increase as the temperatures increase. Differ with gases, its
solubility decrease with increasing temperature. For pressure, it has minimal effect on the solubility of
solids and liquids. Both the solute and the solvent have two different categories which are polar and

Macbeth And Hamlet Research Paper
Within 1601 1605 William Shakespeare produced, what is said to be, the four wings of his spirit in the
tragic division: Hamlet, Othello, Macbeth, and Lear. Shakespeare captures current beliefs, political
history, and cultural events in his plays. Shakespeare s tragedies, Macbeth and Hamlet, were both
written during King James I reign to symbolize the darkness and represent the insecurities of the time.
While some of the happier Shakespearean plays, Midsummer s Night Dream, were written during
Queen Elizabeth I s reign to express the happy, optimistic mood, and confidence in the people.
Although, Macbeth and Hamlet have different settings, they are similar because the plays include the

Many of the English focussed on the issue of keeping her femininity yet maintaining her rule. There
was questioning of if a woman was fit to rule England or if her gender reduced her status as queen.
There were also doubt on how she could provide an heir without relinquishing her power to her
husband. This idea is seen throughout the female characters of Macbeth and Hamlet. In Macbeth,
Lady Macbeth wants to take matter into her own hands, but states that it is inappropriate because she
is a woman. She also uses Macbeth s masculinity to persuade him to kill Duncan. When Macbeth didn
t kill the guards Lady Macbeth did; due to the guilt she later suffered from insanity and committed
suicide. A month after her first husband s death, Gertrude married Claudius, handing the kingship to
Hamlet s uncle, instead of the rightful heir. Gertrude is poisoned by her husband when he meant to kill
Hamlet. Ophelia, the daughter of a nobleman who loved Hamlet, went insane when her father was
murdered by her love. As a result of the unbearable grief she drowned herself in a brook. Lady
Macbeth says that Macbeth has had these visions, and has been like that since childhood. Gertrude
says Hamlet is crazy in love with Ophelia. Both female roles blames the males craziness on something
other than actual insanity. Each of the female characters reflect the beliefs of women in Shakespeare s
time. He expresses the belief

Lord Of The Flies Society Analysis
Lord of the Flies
In life, there are a lot of things that hold people back from doing what they want to do. One of the
major things is the laws of society. William Golding s novel, Lord of the flies, illustrates what would
happen without society. After the plane crashes on the abandoned island during World War Two, a
group of british boys are left alone to survive and fight for their ife. When the boys are first dropped
off on the island, they still have their civilized behavior with them. It changes significantly throughout
the novel. Goldings intentions in writing the novel is to show how men are born evil but rely on
society to be kept in check. Without the necessary structure for everyday life that the industrialized
world provides the boys find that, with the lack of punishment or consequences for their actions, why
not do whatever they want. Losing all care of responsibility and only care about providing themselves
personal gratification. They ate most of the day, picking fruit wherever they could reach it and not
particular about ripeness or quality. They were used now to stomach aches and a form of chronic
diarrhea. Apart from food and sleep, they only found time to play, aimless and trivial, in the white
sand by the bright water. This passage conveys the lack of motivation that the boys have. It presents
them as lazy and unambitious, having adapted to their current environment and have no internal
conflict or problems with being stuck on a deserted

I had little doubt by the way I was approached that they identified me as their head teacher but at this

very quickly into this new role.
There was no time to consider leadership in the first week or even describe it as a phase of learning
but I am of no doubt that it was. The demands and expectations of being a head teacher moved with
momentous speed. The shift from each leadership role came with differing decision making
responsibilities but this was different. I had not reaslised the reach of decisions made by head teachers

Issue on Marijuana Essay example
Legalization of Marijuana in the United States is an ongoing topic that has been going on for several
years. There are vast majority of Americans who are for this move and against this move. While each
side has several good arguments to defend their case, neither one has a distinct advantage over the
other. I will be going over several arguments or point of views as well will have several facts about the
effects of Marijuana whether it is good or bad.
Marijuana is a very prominent and controversial issue in society today. Many people are under the
assumption that Marijuana is a harmful drug and receive heavy criticism because of stereotypical view

It has also proven to be able to bring in a substantial amount of revenue for certain states. However
Marijuana does have its negative effects on the human body. Marijuana causes physical effects which
includes increased heart and pulse rate, bloodshot eyes, and dry throat and mouth. Studies have shown
that the earlier age people decide to use marijuana the more likely they will experiment with other
drugs, and lose interest and are unmotivated to do any kind of schoolwork. It decreases your ability to
drive by slowing down your ability to think properly and slows down you reflexes. Studies have also
determined after long continued use individuals can become burnt out which makes the individual
dull, slow moving, and inattentive.
Marijuana has its pro s but it also has its cons. In its entirety it s an individual s opinion on whether or
not it s good for society. To this day there have been several determinations about the legalization of
Marijuana in the United States, and the causes and effects it has on society. Mendocino County is

Disadvantages And Disadvantages Of Appeasement
Appeasement The bigger the stage, the riskier it gets
Appeasement , can be seen at work in our daily lives, both at individual and group levels. At an
individual level, it is often witnessed within families and at places of work. At a group level,
appeasement of communities, sects, counties, countries, etc. is an omnipresent reality of today s
world. While most such acts are targeted at calming down a seemingly volatile situation, the majority
of them do not aim to benefit all the parties involved i.e. the appeased party, the appeasing party or the
appeaser and the third parties affected by the agreement between the former two but not directly
involved themselves. The end result of a carefully orchestrated appeasement with a positive intent ...

is a much debated issue across the globe. In our own country, the continuous appeasement of
minorities or backward communities for vote bank politics has gradually established itself as a deep
rooted cancer in our society. Every couple of years, a backward group rises above the rest of the
groups and holds the country for ransom to gain reservations in educational institutes and government
jobs. There are widespread killings, looting and arson until the central government bends to the unjust
demands of the protesting community and surrenders. Unfortunately, this becomes a vicious cycle and
emboldens other people with a common grouse to demand reservations, statehood, favours, etc. The
appeaser i.e. the government remains a spectator for most of the period but eventually ends up on the
losing side whereas the appeased party i.e. the protesting group usually ends up on the winning side.
However, the biggest losers are the rest of the people (third party) who have nothing to do with the
issue. Badly hit road and train travel, exorbitantly costly air travel, electricity / water crisis,
postponement of exams / interviews, collateral damage in terms of killings and loss of income, etc. are
few of the problems that people face due to the standoff between the government and the protesters.
Appeasement in such cases creates unsettling, volatile calm cycles of unrest and peace. It

Summary Of The Death Of Honesty By William Damon
Introduction
The article under analysis is entitled The Death of Honesty and is written by William Damon in 2012.
In general, in his article, he describes the problem of deception in today s world and compares it with
the past. He also uses many expressive means and rhetorical devices in order to support his idea. His
main idea is that the biggest problem today is not that people are frequently lying because, as he says,
it is in human nature to lie, and it is not always bad, but that truthfulness is becoming less important as
it was before (Damon). Therefore, he fears that if his idea is true, the bonds of trust that are vital for
creating a free democratic society are in danger, which will inevitably lead to the situation where
building good relationships between people is impossible, and the civilized society will collapse.
Summary of the Article
At the beginning of the article, Damon describes the notion of deception and truth. He claims that
deception is not always bad, but, moreover, it can be better than truth in certain cases and provides
examples of such cases. Then he claims that telling lies is in human nature and that people have
always been lying throughout their entire history. However, he expresses his concern toward the
current tendency of making truth insignificant (Damon). In this respect, he says that despite people
have always lied, the being honest was considered honorable, and this virtue had a high value among
people. Now, in his opinion, this honor has disappeared.
In the body of the article, the author depicts his fears that if being honest is no longer valued, the
future society will collapse and give way to chaos and anarchy. Then he states that this tendency is
observed even in those places where truth must be the priority, for example, educational institutions.
Here he provides many examples of scandals that occurred in different schools regarding the students
who were cheating and teachers who abetted them in doing it. Understandably, most students want to
cheat, especially those who despise studying and learning. However, the motivation of teachers can be
different and unusual. For example, some teachers do not punish students for teaching because they
think that by helping each

A Brief Look at Quantum Optics
Quantum optics tells us that left (l) and right (r) circularly polarized (CP) photon conveys integer spin
angular momentum, +ℏ and ℏ, respectively, although photon is massless elemental particle. The nature
of integer spin obeying Bose Einstein statics makes plural spins confine in an ultrasmall
temporalspace with the same quantum state, meanwhile, half integer spin like electron denies to share
the same quantum state in a molecular space, well known as Pauli exclusion principle. Intense CP
photon acts as an energy source that preferentially generate optically active substance from prochiral
substances and/or to preferentially decompose one enantiomer from racemic mixtures. On the other
hand, weak CP photon is used as a probe to detect substance chirality in the ground and photoexcited
states, known as circular dichroism (CD), optical rotation dispersion (ORD) and circularly polarized
luminescence (CPL) spectroscopy.1 Knowledge and understanding an efficient generation and
reversibility of optically active substances from achiral precursors in the absence of chiral chemical
influence has long been a challenging subject among chemists and scientists. This approach called
absolute asymmetric synthesis (AAS) is beneficial to avoid multiple step synthesis that often require
designed catalysts and specific chiral chemical sources with high ee.2 So far, several AASs have been
employed, including spontaneous symmetry breaking crystallization, vortex stirring,3f 3h

Compare And Contrast American Sports Vs Soccer Essay
21 professional leagues, 234 countries, tens of thousands of professional teams, 265 million players,
and just one sport that ties all these people around the world together. Soccer truly is a universal
language spoken by most, and has brought masses of people together in time of despair, and tragedy.
While it might not be America s favorite sport, the game of soccer has a major impact on almost every
other country. Soccer is the best professional sport to participate in because it receives the most
support from fans globally, does not require outrageous physical requirements, and soccer provides
players with the most opportunities to compete nationally and represent their country. Soccer is the

countries in their own continent. The winners of each continent play in another tournament called the
Confederations Cup. National teams also play many games to try to qualify for both the World Cup,
and that countries continental cup. Some readers might say all sports have national teams that compete

in basketball many top players from the USA decided not to play with that national team because of

Z For Zachariah Analysis
Everyone seems to think the kind of hardship you ve been thru describes your character. But in reality,
it is what you do with that hardship that really shows it. In Margaret Peterson Haddix s Running out of
time a young girl, by the name of Jessie, has to leave her village in order to help everyone. She leaves
because she has to go get medicine and has to stop her friends from dying. This was her hardship and
she chose to deal with it by helping out. In Z for Zachariah by Robert c. O Brien, also a young girl,

The HR Manager should design job descriptions with employee and supervisory input, listing job
responsibilities in descending order of time involved. These can be used in the hiring process as well,
in particular for the manufacturing jobs that have physical requirements such as the ability to lift 25
lbs . (The Case) Since job descriptions cannot possibly list every single task an employee may be
expected to perform in their work day, other duties as assigned or another descriptor for possible
additional duties should be included. Once accurate job descriptions are in place, performance reviews
should be instituted at Doohickeys U Need. We recommend that these take place quarterly, and that
they be a collaborative effort between supervisors and employees. Employees may be asked to
evaluate their own performance against the job description in place for their position, as well as future
goals for improvement and areas which the employee feels they most excel in. Both the supervisory
and employee evaluation will be placed in the employee personnel file. With accurate job descriptions
and performance evaluations on file, Human Resources will better be able to evaluate employee
performance and decide if discipline problems are part of an ongoing problem with an employee or if
they were a one off or perhaps even indicative of a failure in the system that points to a need for
further training or resources. Solution #2: Temporary/Seasonal

Macromolecules In Biology
When someone thinks about life , he or she may think of humans, animals, plants, or anything that
may breathe. From a biological perspective, life is not only made from breathing. Life is created from
many different levels that when all comes to end, makes the biosphere. From smallest to largest, the
Hierarchy of Structural Organization will be explained. Atoms are the smallest particle that is still
considered an element. Atoms are composed of subatomic particles, which include electrons, protons,
and neutrons. At the chemical level, atoms are combined together which make molecules. The human
body contains four macromolecules which are molecules that contain a high number of atoms. The
macromolecules are carbohydrates, lipids, proteins, and nucleic acids. The cellular level contains cells,
which can be eukaryotic or prokaryotic. The cells make up what we call tissues. A tissue is a collection

For example, epithelial tissue works together to cover and protect internal and external body
structures. All tissues come together to create our organs such as our brain and heart. Our organs are
made up of related organs that work together creating our organ system. A few organ systems are the
muscular system, cardiovascular system, reproductive system, and the digestive system. All of the
things previously listed come together and make an organism! An organism could be a plant, or a
human. We all work together to maintain life. Organisms make up what is called a population.
Populations make up communities, which is when all species occupy the same area. An ecosystem is
made up of communities that interact with each other. There are two processes that the ecosystem
depends on which are the cycling of nutrients and the flow of energy (or sunlight). Lastly, ecosystems
create the big picture that is the biosphere. The biosphere is all of earth s atmosphere, water, and crust.

The standard religion in Ancient Egypt wasn t really one set religion at all. It was more a mix of all of
the main principles of the different, and most prominent religions we observe being practiced around
the world today. Like most religions, they had a belief in a higher power, they were polytheistic that
went with an extensive mythology for all of the gods they worshipped, whilst having a very strong
belief of spiritualism, and having magic incorporated into many parts of their religion. They also had a
more scientific aspects of their religion such as psychiatry, herbology, and medicine. Contrarily, the
religion of Byzantium wa much more predetermined, standard, and while being Christianity at the
specific time of those people, their religion is very similar to that of today s Christianity. They were
monotheistic, meaning they only worshipped one god, unlike the Ancient Egyptians. While they only
worshipped one god, they believed that there were three elements to him: God the Father; God the Son
and the Holy Spirit. They followed the teachings of Jesus Christ, also viewing him as the son of God,
and the messiah promised in the Old Testament. They obtained this information from their holy book

Characteristics Of Plato s Allegory Of The Cave
Introduction
In this paper, I will argue that Plato s Allegory of the Cave is a good representation of our relationship
to the media in the United States.
To make this argument, I will first outline the characteristics of Plato s cave.
Second I will argue that Plato s Allegory of the Cave is a good representation of our relationship to the
media in the United States.
Third, I will entertain the most persuasive possible counterargument to my view, which is that the
United States media is not a good representation of the media in the United States.
Fourth, I will refute this counterargument (counterargument, not argument) by giving examples of
how some media sources cherry pick what to tell and what not to say to the public. So the public does
not have all the facts.
Finally, I will conclude my paper by summarizing the main lines of argument in it and reiterating
thesis that Plato s Allegory of the Cave is a good representation of our relationship to the media in the
United States.
Outline
I will now outline the characteristics of Plato s Allegory of the cave. In the Allegory of the Cave, Plato
distinguishes between people who mistake sensory knowledge for the truth and people who do see the
fact. It goes like this: Imagine a cave, in which there are three prisoners. The prisoners are constrained
to some rocks, their arms and legs are bound, and their head is tied so that they cannot look at
anything but the stonewall in front of them. These prisoners have been here since

fair, to students that need it. Unfortunately, the current FAFSA is plagued by issues from its incredible

According to the United States National Economic Council, these questions are complex and largely
unverifiable, providing opportunities for gamesmanship, which is not reassuring to students seeking a
fair evaluation of their ability to pay for college (2). This gamesmanship is fraud which exists because
of questions that are known and acknowledged to be unverifiable. Those questions provide families
the ability to illegitimately gain a lower EFC and, despite this, have remained on the FAFSA. The
potential for fraud provides students with a choice they should not consider during their search for
college funds. The FAFSA should not be a game of who can lie the most effectively, but a fair
assessment of a student s ability to pay for college. Unfortunately, the former remains the case today.
In fact, according to the United States National Economic Council, twelve of the top fifteen strategies
for students to maximize their aid eligibility involves manipulating their family s measured assets

application which must be addressed in some manner. Furthermore, it shows that this fraud is actually
being encouraged as a legitimate action. It also speaks to the negative perception of the FAFSA given
that families find the system

Girls around the age of 2 5 start wearing these rings. The process is gradual but it has long term effects

time to spare, and also with one page more than I was assigned. (It goes without saying that I
somehow turned this crisis into a miracle, and I aced the assignment with flying colors.)
3. Let me start by saying this: I am really good at texting. I am very much like some sort of speed
texting machine, which sounds ridiculous, but it is true. I rarely ever make typos, and I rarely send a
message to the wrong person. Though, there was one time in particular that I did the latter, and it
ruined all my plans. One of my closest friends, Alec, had a birthday coming up. He begged me not to
do anything, he just wanted to have a normal day. Of course, knowing me, Alec should have known to
have me make some sort of promise. As it was, I made no such promise, and I made a plan to conspire
with his sister, Emmaline, and plan Alec the perfect surprise party. So, I typed up a text for Emma,
talking about my plan to surprise Alec. Now, let me get something straight here. I am very close with
both Alec and Emma, and different as they may be, they have very similar contact names in my phone;
by this, I mean that both of their contact names

What Doctors Feel, By Hochschild s A Managed Heart
From the top down, emotional labour is necessary in almost every profession. The way employees
interact with customers can directly and indirectly impact sales and the reputation of a company.
While it is very visible in lower class jobs like waitresses and cashiers, who interact with customers
directly every time they do their job, it is also necessary in higher positions in a corporation. People in
management positions are told they must treat employees with respect because happy employees can
increase productivity. In A Managed Heart, Hochschild focuses on mid class professions and how
workers participate in emotional labour. Ofri s book, What Doctors Feel, focuses on emotional work
in the high class medical industry. Hochschild s A Managed Heart highlights the dangers of emotional
management where Ofri s What Doctors Feel has a more positive outlook on the topic, however, both
authors would agree that expressing the proper emotion at the proper time despite some risk is
necessary in almost ever career. In The Managed Heart Hochschild focuses on emotional labour:
managing one s emotions in the work place because it is one s job to do so. While she touches on
some benefits of emotion management, her book focuses on the dangers of losing one s true self when
one s employer can control how one feels. Her main subjects are bill collectors and flight attendants,
both are expected to have extreme (and opposite) emotions on the job. The bill collector is supposed

Summary Of Neil Degrasse Tyson
Based on the title of this episode, I expected it to talk about the depths of the ocean, but I was wrong.
Instead the episode began by discussing condensation and evaporation and the sun s effect on each one
of these mechanisms. Neil Degrasse Tyson then dived deep into a water trap to further express the
contents of the drop, and the water bears appeared once again, their small but rigid tolerance allows
them to survive almost everywhere. The episode then began to discuss the structure of a plant at a
molecular level and Photosynthesis. There was one thing that I found very interesting in this episode
and that was then sectioned that talked about Charles Darwin s prediction about the orchid s nectar. He
believed that everything as created for a reason, if the Orchid had nectar at the end of their narrow
stems there must be an animal capable of retrieving that nectar, and he was right a fly was discovered
in Madagascar that had a lengthy tongue, one that was used to suck up the nectar from the bottom of

The Cleveland Browns And The Detroit Lions
As my relatives arrived, I began to feel more alone. The conversation ran the usual course. The men
talked about the Cleveland Browns or the Detroit Lions. The woman talked about their children or
past marriages. I kept on the move between the two groups. My biggest fear was that I would start
taking about the war or say something about the woodland spirits that my Aunt Claudia believed
existed. I wanted to talk about her, but I knew very little about her life. She believed that it was her
destiny to build a family industry. She believed if her people followed her, the industry would become
a dynasty. My Aunt Colleen believed that I should complete her task; then, my Aunt Claudia could rest
in peace. Both women felt I should quit my job. I should leave my city home and move into this house
in the woodland area. They believed I needed only a bed, a desk, and a lamp. My salvation was to
work in my uncle s workshop. Once I d built enough fishing boats, their visions would come true.
Then, my partner, a soul twin would arrive, and we d fish like in the old days. Then, one of the city
girls would marry me. I had to trust their visions like the apostles trusted Jesus when he saved them
form the storm in the Sea of Galilee. To bring visions out into the open would end my family dinner
before anyone had eaten. To bring visions into the open would convince everyone that I was crazy. I
was crazy, but not because of any beliefs. I was crazy because of the war, and I had to leave

Teens And Mtv s Unrealistic Beliefs On Teen Pregnancy
Research article authors Nicole Martins and Robin E. Jensen, intended to study the relationship
between MTV s series Teen Mom reality show and teenagers unrealistic beliefs about what is like to
be a teen mom. The seven motivations for asking why are used to convince the audience that it is
worthy of research by exploring the relationship with the intentions to discredit the previous findings
that state, Teen Mom and 16 and Pregnant is one of the best public service campaign to prevent teen
pregnancy. This topic presents a number of complications in the lives of both induvial and societal as a
whole; providing evidence to answer the readers question on why this topic is of importance and
worthy of research. Yearly, $7 billion are taxed to all U.S citizens for welfare and healthcare relating
to teen pregnancy, driving the United States to the top as the highest rated country with teen
pregnancy. Consequently, almost half of teen mothers are unable to receive a high school diploma;
leading to lower occupation income for both fathers and mothers. I myself have personally witnessed
the toll it takes on one s life from three women who became mothers at a young age. Many teens are
unaware of the high risks and consequences of becoming pregnant or are in denial of the possibility.
Being able to be a part of their journey has increased my belief of the importance on this topic and
related research.
When comparing this article to a good literature review, it successfully provides an adequate overview
of previous research done and uses it to enhance the project at hand. When evaluating the quality and
relevance of this article, Martins and Jensen do an admirable job communicating the purpose of
research to the reader and organizing its literature review. The data from other studies is in
chronological order and are structured from broader studies to more specific ones which is seen when
the sources are cited. An analysis was provided after presenting the findings from previous studies and
the authors were able to communicate how those studies influenced their own research. As a whole,
the literature review was well organized by key ideas and topics that logically lead to the research

Social Problem Of Violence Against Women
Violence against women is huge social problem. It is not just a women s problem but also a men s
problem. Violence against women is seen everywhere in the world, especial those who live in more
patriarchal society. We are in a world where we see violence against women as a big issue but we have
done very little to dissolve it. Violence against women is everywhere, at home, at the workplace, and
even outside, in the places in between. Violence against women does not discriminate, it touches every
race and at every age. Many violence against women are left without punishment. No matter how
small or how big the violence is, it needs to be addressed. Violence against women is very much
workplace as any other place. Violence against women is mostly seen when the person initiating
violence is in a higher position then a women. This leads to many acts of violence left unpunished or
resolved. Because those initiating the violence is mostly male who are the boss or the manager,
females do not speak up and report it. Females will most likely not report it because they will not like
to lose their job, they would believe no one will believe them, and it would cost to much drama and
talk in the workplace. Just a slap or a push is left unreported because females believes they are minor
things compared to other things. Plus, females in the workplace still have to deal with sexual
harassment. So, most little things are left unreported because, even though, we believe we live in a

Positive Accounting Theory
Compare and contrast normative and positive accounting approaches:
Definition of PAT:
Watts and Zimmerman (1986) defined Pat as a theory that seeks to explain and predicts particular
phenomenon. It is concerned with explaining accounting practice. The three basic hypotheses as
outlined by Watts and Zimmerman (1978) underlying PAT are:
1. Bonus plan hypothesis:
The bonus plan hypothesis is that managers of firms with bonus plans are more likely to use
accounting methods that increase current period reported income. Such selection presumably increase
the present value of bonuses if the compensation committee of the board of directors does not adjust to
the method chosen
2. Debt/equity hypothesis:
The debt/equity hypothesis predicts that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
92). The main objective of normative accounting theories is to provide guidance to individuals to
enable them to select the most appropriate accounting policies for given circumstances (Deegan, 2003,
p. 90).
Therefore, the result of normative accounting research should provide prescription to inform others
about the optimal accounting approach to adopt and why this particular approach is considered
optimal.
Normative accounting research has resulted accounting theories that are relevant for the setting of
financial reporting standards (Mozes, 1992, p. 93). In this case, the FASB s (U.S Financial Accounting
Standard Board) call for normative research can be interpreted as a request for accounting researchers
to investigate whether the user specific and decision specific qualities that standard setters require are
present in the accounting data (Mozes, 1992, p. 93). A successful example of normative accounting
theories is conceptual framework for financial reporting published by FASB. It was started in 1978 by
SFAC (Statement of Financial Accounting Concept) No. 1: Objectives of Financial Reporting by
Business Enterprises.
Conceptual framework is defined by FASB as follow (FASB, 1980, p. i): Conceptual framework is a
coherent system of interrelated objectives and fundamentals that is expected to lead to consistent
standards and that prescribes the nature, function, and limits of financial accounting and reporting.
It is expected to serve the public interest by

Leadership Style And Personal Strengths Essay
Using Leadership Style and Personal Strengths to Succeed in a Doctoral Program Leadership is an
important outcome of the doctor of nursing practice (DNP) program (Zaccagnini White, 2014).
Measurement tools are available that identify leadership style (Clark, 2010) and personal talents,
called Signature Themes (Gallup, Inc., 2010). When leadership style and personal strengths are
identified, they can be maximized to achieve success (Clark, 2010; Gallup, Inc., 2010). This paper
provides both a framework about the importance of leadership in the DNP curriculum and several
examples of how I will use my leadership style and Signature Themes to succeed in the DNP program.
Leadership in DNP Program Curricula Prior to the development of the DNP degree, several practice
focused doctoral programs existed in the United States; however, they did not have uniform curricular
standards (American Association of Colleges of Nursing [AACN], 2004). An AACN task force (2004)
studied the programs and recommended they be consolidated into one practice doctorate, called the
DNP. The AACN task force found that leadership preparation was a common curricular thread in each
practice doctoral program (AACN, 2004). In 2006, the AACN published The Essentials of Doctoral
Education for Advanced Nursing Practice to establish guidelines for DNP curriculum development.
The emphasis on leadership

Analyse how ideas were used to comment on the nature of society in the written Texts. In the Short
Story Cabernet Sauvignon With My Brother written by Owen Marshall the ideas of self sufficiency,
privacy, revenue and depression are brought forward. Through these issues we can see that the nature
of relationships between people are of high importance. New Zealand is a known country where
people tend to live self sufficient life styles. This is shown through the story in a number of ways. Raf
the main character in the story believes in the two important ideas of privacy and revenue this is seen

Miley Cyrus And Hannah Montana We all may be able to sing every lyric to the Hannah Montana theme song, but Miley Cyrus wouldn t care to remember a single word to any of the songs created for her teenage alter ego. Cyrus blames Hannah Montana for her body image issues and says playing the character morphed her perspective on what real women should look like. The Adore singer discussed the trauma of dressing and acting like someone she wasn t. I was made to look like someone that I wasn t, which probably caused some body dysmorphia because I had been made pretty every day for so long, and then when I wasn t on that show, it was like, Who the f**k am I? said Cyrus. • 3. Benefits Of Soybean Breeding Programs Essay Exotic soybean germplasm that has the potential to significantly increase seed yield has been evaluated in several previous studies. Three high yielding germplasm lines that contain exotic ancestry have been released by USDAARS and the Illinois Agricultural Experiment Station. The released lines LG00 3372 from the cross PI 561319A × PI 574477 (Nelson and Johnson 2011a), LG04 6000 from the cross PI 436682 × Lawrence (Nelson and Johnson 2012), and LG06 5798 from LG00 3372 x LD00 3309 (Nelson et al. 2013) yielded significantly (P=0.05) more than the highest yielding check cultivars in field tests. The releases of these germplasm lines provide evidence that exotic germplasm can be used as a parent for soybean breeding programs to provide new genetic diversity as well as to improve seed yield of US soybean cultivars. Advances in biotechnology and statistical programs have made it more efficient to map the locations of genes and QTL. However, complex quantitative traits including seed yield are often difficult to identify and their use in soybean breeding programs can be complicated by epistasis, QTL by genetic background interactions, and QTL by environment interactions (Bernardo 2008; Yang et al. 2008). Strong interactions between QTL as well as between QTL and environments for seed yield have been reported in soybean (Kim et al. 2012b; Lark et al. 1995). The objectives of this study were to map QTL and to identify effects of the QTL and/or epistasis on important agronomic ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. John Lewis Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee (SNCC John Lewis was one of the most notably influential leaders of the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee, SNCC. SNCC was founded in the 1960s in Releigh, North Carolina and initially consisted of black students as its members (Murphree 2006:11). The first members of this organization made use of nonviolent ways of protests such as sitting in and occupation of certain public places. The organization was successful in making other people aware of the injustices that black people were usually exposed to. Moreover, SNCC supported more nonviolent protests such as the Freedom Rides in 1961 and the March on Washington in 1963 which paved the way for the amendment of the Civil Rights Act of 1964. In 2006 and 2009, together with 6 other lawmakers, Lewis was arrested outside the Sudan embassy for holding a protest against the genocide incidences in Darfur (Thrush 2009). More so, he was also one of the eight U.S. Representatives who got arrested outside the U.S capitol building for advocating for a comprehensive immigration reform. (Courson, Seaby, and Koran 2013). • 5. Research Paper On Roberto Firmino Big Game Player Roberto Firmino also has the innate ability to turn up in the big games. We have seen relatively little of him in the Premier League so far but his record in crunch games is good. Against the likes of Manchester United, Manchester City, Chelsea and Arsenal he has scored 5 and assisted 3 in 8 appearances across all competitions. If you also simply look at the games where Liverpool made tough work of the opposition, you will notice how crucial Roberto has been in the scoring. For instance he struck twice in the 3 3 draw at Anfield to Arsenal, he scored twice and assisted once in the thrilling last gasp 5 4 victory to Norwich at Carrow Road, he scored one and assisted the other in a draw vs. Sunderland at Anfield and assisted the only goal of the game at Anfield against league leaders Leicester. This of course isn t counting the second goal scored against Manchester United in the Europa League first leg right at the death to extend Liverpool s lead crucially, thus allowing the Merseyside club a crucial added advantage going into the second leg. Roberto Firmino has this to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Most would have one straight look and say the idea is simple, without Firmino Liverpool win only a third of their games and with him they win half of them. However, the point here is Roberto hasn t featured mostly in those games which have been fixtures for the Capital One Cup or FA Cup, two competitions where Liverpool have fielded weakened teams . Hence, this statistic is a little difficult to trust. However, two very obvious occasions when a strong side bereft of Roberto Firmino has been fielded to detrimental effect are, Liverpool s away fixture at Old Traffold against Manchester United and more recently against Southampton in the ... Discuss. As we enter the 21st century, complex issues such as terrorism, immigration, multiculturalism, and social cohesion have brought about a significant amount controversy and an abundance of emotive rhetoric within Australian society. The growing number of displaced persons arising out of the Syrian Civil War in 2011 has become a significant humanitarian crisis on a global scale, with several countries granting asylum to a number of those effected. On the 9th of September 2015, the Australian Government announced that it will make an extra 12,000 humanitarian places available in response to the conflicts in Syria and Iraq, granting them a permanent visa. Australia has been largely criticised by the international community regarding its special humanitarian stream identifying those most appropriate for resettlement, but necessarily the most vulnerable people. Retrieved from Operating System: http://www.operating system.org/betriebssystem/_english/bs linux.htm The Linux operating system was started by Linus (Benedict) Torvalds in 1986. He got the idea from the MINIX, which was developed as a learning system. MINIX was an open source system. In the process, he developed more and more functions, making it an operating system with a kernel. He made the source code available for other programmers to give feedback and eventually created a community for the ongoing development of Linux. Linux is now a free development and distribution that only integrates features that users will use in installation able software packages. Developers of Linux have used the system core, the kernel, to develop a range of software packages for a wide variety of devices. • 8. Reflective Personal Reflection It is quite fascinating the shifts our minds can create, how frequently we experience behavioral changes and how much of an impact theses alterations can have on our lives. To me this is how reflective psychology is in our development as humans. And for a very long time, my interests have been drawn into the field of care and mental health. In particular, I have fixated my attention into the growth and development of children. From a very young age, it has been an interest of mine to understand the complex behavior certain children possessed. I mean the smallest of tantrums I saw being displayed by my own siblings to me were quite interesting. I would encounter the bullying of other children because of lack of understanding of the English language. While at the same time, I would be so drawn and pleased with those who understood my struggle and tried to educate me. To me, part of my childhood was certainly an amazing experience. I mean I lived in a Caribbean country where I felt free to play and enjoy life at any time. Then I migrated with my parents to the United States and I felt like I was segregated from my own people because of my language barrier. It is so interesting how much a single move can in a sense traumatize the brain of a child. Even though I am exceptionally pleased with the arrangements taken by my parents to move us here, in order to give us a brighter future. • 11. Kautilya s Theories On War Essay Kautilya s Theories on War for the Twenty First Century Intrigue, assassination, spies, and prostitutes make for captivating reading in Kautilya s Arthishastra. One could easily dismiss this extensive composition as amusing literature from ancient times, seemingly relevant today only in fiction or action adventure movies. Kautilya, an ancient Indian military theorist and advisor to Chandragupta Maurya, is known as an extreme realist who by comparison makes Machiavelli appear tame due to the brutality of his methods. Kautilya s Arthashastra is a comprehensive compendium containing fifteen books providing kings and ministers procedures for conquering, maintaining control of, and running states in the dangerous and uncertain environment of ancient India. Of the fifteen books, three relate to war and national security and contain several concepts relevant to modern times. Like Kautilia over two thousand years ago, the United States (U.S.) military today faces a dangerous and uncertain global environment and therefore must prepare for a wide array of contingencies. A brief review of three books contained in the Arthashastra that relate to war and national security provide insight to key issues that challenged Kautilya in his time and also challenge the U.S. military today; these issues are not addressed by other military theorists and for this reason I believe that Kautilya s Arthashastra best explains the nature and character of war in the 21st century. No, not the jerkish guy down the street, a literal ass. Can you imagine four days filled with declarations of love, hate, curses, cures, disgust, and delight? An ultimatum so great it pits two people married for centuries against each other? Love is in the air, and so is hate in Shakespeare s A Midsummer Night s Dream. Unfortunate circumstances fall upon seven lovers in the woods one night, proving that love is more fickle than true. The King and Queen seemingly have been married forever, and most likely have been fighting for forever as well. Oberon and Titania are fairies, meaning they help bring balance to nature, but they have been neglecting their duties because of their argument. Titiana vents, And never, since the middle summer s spring, Met we on hill, in dale, forest, or mead, By paved fountain or rush brook, or in the beached margent of the sea (2.1.82). While they argue and avoid each other the nature they are supposed to be taking care of is beginning to show the neglect, And, through this distemperature, we see The season alter: hoary headed frosts Fall in the fresh lap of the crimson rose, and on old Heim s thin and icy crown an odorous chaplet of sweet summer buds is, as in mockery, set (2.1.108). The reason the King and Queen are fighting is rather strange, Oberon wants a mortal boy whom Titania has taken as her ward. Oberon gives no reason as to why he wants the boy so bad, he probably just wants him because Tatiana loves him so much. Titana befriended a mortal woman and spent hours gossiping with her, laying on the sands by the shore, and when the mortal woman got pregnant and died during childbirth, Titans made a promise to raise the child. • 13. The Pricing Objective Of The Marketing Strategy The pricing objective of the marketing strategy is profit centered, meaning the new services are expected to maximize the company profits. In evaluating the target audience, gym participants are not found to be price sensitive, generally. Rather, they are value conscious and tend to place a high emphasis on quality in evaluating the membership cost. People have various motives in joining a gym including socializing, recreation, taking shape, losing weight, or health requirements. Because of the intangible nature of the gym experience and health related matters, people do tend to be more value conscious than price sensitive. Understanding how the customers evaluate the price aids in choosing an appropriate pricing basis strategically. For the new services, ABC Fitness will take a markup pricing approach with a predetermined rate of 40%, set by the executives. 24 hour access. The costs associated with this service include a video surveillance system, access cards, club fixtures, and promotional programs. The new service is expected to increase the memberships by 25% annually. Solubility of substance is affected by some factors such as temperature, pressure and the nature of the intermolecular forces or interionic forces in both the solute and the solvent. The solubility of solid and liquids usually increase as the temperatures increase. Differ with gases, its solubility decrease with increasing temperature. For pressure, it has minimal effect on the solubility of solids and liquids. Both the solute and the solvent have two different categories which are polar and non polar. Shakespeare s tragedies, Macbeth and Hamlet, were both written during King James I reign to symbolize the darkness and represent the insecurities of the time. While some of the happier Shakespearean plays, Midsummer s Night Dream, were written during Queen Elizabeth I s reign to express the happy, optimistic mood, and confidence in the people. There was questioning of if a woman was fit to rule England or if her gender reduced her status as queen. There were also doubt on how she could provide an heir without relinquishing her power to her husband. This idea is seen throughout the female characters of Macbeth and Hamlet. In Macbeth, Lady Macbeth wants to take matter into her own hands, but states that it is inappropriate because she is a woman. She also uses Macbeth s masculinity to persuade him to kill Duncan. When Macbeth didn t kill the guards Lady Macbeth did; due to the guilt she later suffered from insanity and committed suicide. William Golding s novel, Lord of the flies, illustrates what would happen without society. After the plane crashes on the abandoned island during World War Two, a group of british boys are left alone to survive and fight for their ife. When the boys are first dropped off on the island, they still have their civilized behavior with them. It changes significantly throughout the novel. Goldings intentions in writing the novel is to show how men are born evil but rely on society to be kept in check. Without the necessary structure for everyday life that the industrialized world provides the boys find that, with the lack of punishment or consequences for their actions, why not do whatever they want. Losing all care of responsibility and only care about providing themselves personal gratification. They ate most of the day, picking fruit wherever they could reach it and not particular about ripeness or quality. They were used now to stomach aches and a form of chronic diarrhea. Apart from food and sleep, they only found time to play, aimless and trivial, in the white sand by the bright water. This passage conveys the lack of motivation that the boys have. It presents them as lazy and unambitious, having adapted to their current environment and have no internal conflict or problems with being stuck on a deserted ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

At an individual level, it is often witnessed within families and at places of work. At a group level, appeasement of communities, sects, counties, countries, etc. is an omnipresent reality of today s world. While most such acts are targeted at calming down a seemingly volatile situation, the majority of them do not aim to benefit all the parties involved i.e. the appeased party, the appeasing party or the appeaser and the third parties affected by the agreement between the former two but not directly involved themselves. The end result of a carefully orchestrated appeasement with a positive intent ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... is a much debated issue across the globe. In our own country, the continuous appeasement of minorities or backward communities for vote bank politics has gradually established itself as a deep rooted cancer in our society. Every couple of years, a backward group rises above the rest of the groups and holds the country for ransom to gain reservations in educational institutes and government jobs. There are widespread killings, looting and arson until the central government bends to the unjust demands of the protesting community and surrenders. Unfortunately, this becomes a vicious cycle and emboldens other people with a common grouse to demand reservations, statehood, favours, etc. The appeaser i.e. the government remains a spectator for most of the period but eventually ends up on the losing side whereas the appeased party i.e. the protesting group usually ends up on the winning side. However, the biggest losers are the rest of the people (third party) who have nothing to do with the issue. Badly hit road and train travel, exorbitantly costly air travel, electricity / water crisis, postponement of exams / interviews, collateral damage in terms of killings and loss of income, etc. are few of the problems that people face due to the standoff between the government and the protesters. • 21. Summary Of The Death Of Honesty By William Damon Introduction The article under analysis is entitled The Death of Honesty and is written by William Damon in 2012. In general, in his article, he describes the problem of deception in today s world and compares it with the past. He also uses many expressive means and rhetorical devices in order to support his idea. His main idea is that the biggest problem today is not that people are frequently lying because, as he says, it is in human nature to lie, and it is not always bad, but that truthfulness is becoming less important as it was before (Damon). Therefore, he fears that if his idea is true, the bonds of trust that are vital for creating a free democratic society are in danger, which will inevitably lead to the situation where building good relationships between people is impossible, and the civilized society will collapse. Summary of the Article At the beginning of the article, Damon describes the notion of deception and truth. He claims that deception is not always bad, but, moreover, it can be better than truth in certain cases and provides examples of such cases. Then he claims that telling lies is in human nature and that people have always been lying throughout their entire history. However, he expresses his concern toward the current tendency of making truth insignificant (Damon). In this respect, he says that despite people have always lied, the being honest was considered honorable, and this virtue had a high value among people. Now, in his opinion, this honor has disappeared. In the body of the article, the author depicts his fears that if being honest is no longer valued, the future society will collapse and give way to chaos and anarchy. Then he states that this tendency is observed even in those places where truth must be the priority, for example, educational institutions. Here he provides many examples of scandals that occurred in different schools regarding the students who were cheating and teachers who abetted them in doing it. Understandably, most students want to cheat, especially those who despise studying and learning. However, the motivation of teachers can be different and unusual. For example, some teachers do not punish students for teaching because they think that by helping each ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 23. A Brief Look at Quantum Optics Quantum optics tells us that left (l) and right (r) circularly polarized (CP) photon conveys integer spin angular momentum, +ℏ and ℏ, respectively, although photon is massless elemental particle. The nature of integer spin obeying Bose Einstein statics makes plural spins confine in an ultrasmall temporalspace with the same quantum state, meanwhile, half integer spin like electron denies to share the same quantum state in a molecular space, well known as Pauli exclusion principle. Intense CP photon acts as an energy source that preferentially generate optically active substance from prochiral substances and/or to preferentially decompose one enantiomer from racemic mixtures. On the other hand, weak CP photon is used as a probe to detect substance chirality in the ground and photoexcited states, known as circular dichroism (CD), optical rotation dispersion (ORD) and circularly polarized luminescence (CPL) spectroscopy.1 Knowledge and understanding an efficient generation and reversibility of optically active substances from achiral precursors in the absence of chiral chemical influence has long been a challenging subject among chemists and scientists. This approach called absolute asymmetric synthesis (AAS) is beneficial to avoid multiple step synthesis that often require designed catalysts and specific chiral chemical sources with high ee.2 So far, several AASs have been employed, including spontaneous symmetry breaking crystallization, vortex stirring,3f 3h ... These can be used in the hiring process as well, in particular for the manufacturing jobs that have physical requirements such as the ability to lift 25 lbs . (The Case) Since job descriptions cannot possibly list every single task an employee may be expected to perform in their work day, other duties as assigned or another descriptor for possible additional duties should be included. Once accurate job descriptions are in place, performance reviews should be instituted at Doohickeys U Need. We recommend that these take place quarterly, and that they be a collaborative effort between supervisors and employees. Employees may be asked to evaluate their own performance against the job description in place for their position, as well as future goals for improvement and areas which the employee feels they most excel in. Throughout the 16 novels and the 3 companion novellas, the theme of beauty is common. In fact, the title of the novels leaves no speculation about the context. The titles of the 16 novels can sum up the analysis perfectly. Ranging from Flawless, Perfect, Wanted, Stunning to Deadly, Toxic, and Vicious, the titles leave little to imagination. Sara Shepard, through her Y.A. books, tells the story of five teenagers namely Alison DiLaurentis, Spencer Hastings, Aria Montgomery, Hanna Marin and Emily Fields. Alison or Ali is the ring leader of the crew, based on her looks entirely. She guides (and lures) these four girls in the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... High heels: Nowadays, many women wear heels without a second thought. However, it is important to remember that high heels can be very restrictive in addition to permanently harming one s feet. High heels restrict one s ability to run if caught in a dangerous situation and, if worn extensively can be extremely detrimental to one s health. 6. Next extension: The Kayan people in Burma view long necks as a sign of beauty, and hence, have adapted a very dangerous and jaw dropping technique to make sure that the women have long necks, and hence, stay beautiful. They wear rings around their necks. Girls around the age of 2 5 start wearing these rings. The process is gradual but it has long term effects and ends up deforming the body. 7. Foot binding: In China, in the 10th and 11th century, foot binding was a common practice for women. It was also called lotus feet. Women had to bind their feet at a very young age (very tightly) so that as their bodies grow, their feet remain the same size. As weird as this concept is, small feet were considered beautiful at that time. And so, women obliged. 8. • 39. Synopsis Of A Monologue Was Just Gone ! 1. Anyone who has ever been involved in any amount of theatre knows that auditioning is no one s friend. As someone who is made nervous very easily, I have the awfullest nerves before any audition. So when my acting class decided to work on auditioning, I was somewhat excited. I had prepared a monologue, and I was ready to perform it when the next class rolled around. My name was called, and I was abnormally nervous considering I was surrounded by people I have done much more embarrassing things in front of we all like to forget about the class in which we spent an hour rolling around on the floor in order to connect with out deepest emotions. I get up and the very moment I stand, my entire monologue has left my mind. I could not even ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I spent every moment of free time I had at rehearsal researching for my paper, and by the time I got home, I was exhausted. But... I still had a paper to write. Write it I did, surrounded by note cards and with far too many links pulled up on my laptop, with my kitten at my feet. I finished the paper with time to spare, and also with one page more than I was assigned. (It goes without saying that I somehow turned this crisis into a miracle, and I aced the assignment with flying colors.) 3. Let me start by saying this: I am really good at texting. I am very much like some sort of speed texting machine, which sounds ridiculous, but it is true. I rarely ever make typos, and I rarely send a message to the wrong person. Though, there was one time in particular that I did the latter, and it ruined all my plans. One of my closest friends, Alec, had a birthday coming up. He begged me not to do anything, he just wanted to have a normal day. Of course, knowing me, Alec should have known to have me make some sort of promise. As it was, I made no such promise, and I made a plan to conspire with his sister, Emmaline, and plan Alec the perfect surprise party. So, I typed up a text for Emma, talking about my plan to surprise Alec. Now, let me get something straight here. I am very close with both Alec and Emma, and different as they may be, they have very similar contact names in my phone; by this, I mean that both of their contact names ... • 40. What Doctors Feel, By Hochschild s A Managed Heart From the top down, emotional labour is necessary in almost every profession. The way employees interact with customers can directly and indirectly impact sales and the reputation of a company. While it is very visible in lower class jobs like waitresses and cashiers, who interact with customers directly every time they do their job, it is also necessary in higher positions in a corporation. People in management positions are told they must treat employees with respect because happy employees can increase productivity. In A Managed Heart, Hochschild focuses on mid class professions and how workers participate in emotional labour. Ofri s book, What Doctors Feel, focuses on emotional work in the high class medical industry. Hochschild s A Managed Heart highlights the dangers of emotional management where Ofri s What Doctors Feel has a more positive outlook on the topic, however, both authors would agree that expressing the proper emotion at the proper time despite some risk is necessary in almost ever career. In The Managed Heart Hochschild focuses on emotional labour: managing one s emotions in the work place because it is one s job to do so. While she touches on some benefits of emotion management, her book focuses on the dangers of losing one s true self when one s employer can control how one feels. Her main subjects are bill collectors and flight attendants, both are expected to have extreme (and opposite) emotions on the job. The bill collector is supposed to ... • 42. Summary Of Neil Degrasse Tyson Based on the title of this episode, I expected it to talk about the depths of the ocean, but I was wrong. Instead the episode began by discussing condensation and evaporation and the sun s effect on each one of these mechanisms. Neil Degrasse Tyson then dived deep into a water trap to further express the contents of the drop, and the water bears appeared once again, their small but rigid tolerance allows them to survive almost everywhere. The episode then began to discuss the structure of a plant at a molecular level and Photosynthesis. There was one thing that I found very interesting in this episode and that was then sectioned that talked about Charles Darwin s prediction about the orchid s nectar. He believed that everything as created for a reason, if the Orchid had nectar at the end of their narrow stems there must be an animal capable of retrieving that nectar, and he was right a fly was discovered in Madagascar that had a lengthy tongue, one that was used to suck up the nectar from the bottom of the ... • 43. The Cleveland Browns And The Detroit Lions As my relatives arrived, I began to feel more alone. The conversation ran the usual course. The men talked about the Cleveland Browns or the Detroit Lions. The woman talked about their children or past marriages. I kept on the move between the two groups. My biggest fear was that I would start taking about the war or say something about the woodland spirits that my Aunt Claudia believed existed. I wanted to talk about her, but I knew very little about her life. She believed that it was her destiny to build a family industry. She believed if her people followed her, the industry would become a dynasty. My Aunt Colleen believed that I should complete her task; then, my Aunt Claudia could rest in peace. Both women felt I should quit my job. I should leave my city home and move into this house in the woodland area. They believed I needed only a bed, a desk, and a lamp. My salvation was to work in my uncle s workshop. Once I d built enough fishing boats, their visions would come true. Then, my partner, a soul twin would arrive, and we d fish like in the old days. Then, one of the city girls would marry me. I had to trust their visions like the apostles trusted Jesus when he saved them form the storm in the Sea of Galilee. To bring visions out into the open would end my family dinner before anyone had eaten. To bring visions into the open would convince everyone that I was crazy. • 44. Teens And Mtv s Unrealistic Beliefs On Teen Pregnancy Research article authors Nicole Martins and Robin E. Jensen, intended to study the relationship between MTV s series Teen Mom reality show and teenagers unrealistic beliefs about what is like to be a teen mom. The seven motivations for asking why are used to convince the audience that it is worthy of research by exploring the relationship with the intentions to discredit the previous findings that state, Teen Mom and 16 and Pregnant is one of the best public service campaign to prevent teen pregnancy. This topic presents a number of complications in the lives of both induvial and societal as a whole; providing evidence to answer the readers question on why this topic is of importance and worthy of research. Yearly, $7 billion are taxed to all U.S citizens for welfare and healthcare relating to teen pregnancy, driving the United States to the top as the highest rated country with teen pregnancy. Consequently, almost half of teen mothers are unable to receive a high school diploma; leading to lower occupation income for both fathers and mothers. I myself have personally witnessed the toll it takes on one s life from three women who became mothers at a young age. Many teens are unaware of the high risks and consequences of becoming pregnant or are in denial of the possibility. Being able to be a part of their journey has increased my belief of the importance on this topic and related research. When comparing this article to a good literature review, it successfully provides an adequate overview of previous research done and uses it to enhance the project at hand. When evaluating the quality and relevance of this article, Martins and Jensen do an admirable job communicating the purpose of research to the reader and organizing its literature review. The data from other studies is in chronological order and are structured from broader studies to more specific ones which is seen when the sources are cited. An analysis was provided after presenting the findings from previous studies and the authors were able to communicate how those studies influenced their own research. As a whole, the literature review was well organized by key ideas and topics that logically lead to the research Martins and Jensen were ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 45. Social Problem Of Violence Against Women Violence against women is huge social problem. It is not just a women s problem but also a men s problem. Violence against women is seen everywhere in the world, especial those who live in more patriarchal society. We are in a world where we see violence against women as a big issue but we have done very little to dissolve it. Violence against women is everywhere, at home, at the workplace, and even outside, in the places in between. Violence against women does not discriminate, it touches every race and at every age. Many violence against women are left without punishment. No matter how small or how big the violence is, it needs to be addressed. Violence against women is very much workplace as any other place. Violence against women is mostly seen when the person initiating violence is in a higher position then a women. This leads to many acts of violence left unpunished or resolved. Because those initiating the violence is mostly male who are the boss or the manager, females do not speak up and report it. Females will most likely not report it because they will not like to lose their job, they would believe no one will believe them, and it would cost to much drama and talk in the workplace. Just a slap or a push is left unreported because females believes they are minor things compared to other things. Plus, females in the workplace still have to deal with sexual harassment. So, most little things are left unreported because, even though, we believe we live in a more ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 46. Positive Accounting Theory Compare and contrast normative and positive accounting approaches: Definition of PAT: Watts and Zimmerman (1986) defined Pat as a theory that seeks to explain and predicts particular phenomenon. It is concerned with explaining accounting practice. The three basic hypotheses as outlined by Watts and Zimmerman (1978) underlying PAT are: 1. Bonus plan hypothesis: The bonus plan hypothesis is that managers of firms with bonus plans are more likely to use accounting methods that increase current period reported income. Such selection presumably increase the present value of bonuses if the compensation committee of the board of directors does not adjust to the method chosen 2. Debt/equity hypothesis: The debt/equity hypothesis predicts that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... 92). The main objective of normative accounting theories is to provide guidance to individuals to enable them to select the most appropriate accounting policies for given circumstances (Deegan, 2003, p. 90). Therefore, the result of normative accounting research should provide prescription to inform others about the optimal accounting approach to adopt and why this particular approach is considered optimal. Normative accounting research has resulted accounting theories that are relevant for the setting of financial reporting standards (Mozes, 1992, p. 93). In this case, the FASB s (U.S Financial Accounting Standard Board) call for normative research can be interpreted as a request for accounting researchers to investigate whether the user specific and decision specific qualities that standard setters require are present in the accounting data (Mozes, 1992, p. 93). A successful example of normative accounting theories is conceptual framework for financial reporting published by FASB. It was started in 1978 by SFAC (Statement of Financial Accounting Concept) No. 1: Objectives of Financial Reporting by Business Enterprises. Conceptual framework is defined by FASB as follow (FASB, 1980, p. i): Conceptual framework is a coherent system of interrelated objectives and fundamentals that is expected to lead to consistent standards and that prescribes the nature, function, and limits of financial accounting and reporting. • 47. Leadership Style And Personal Strengths Essay Using Leadership Style and Personal Strengths to Succeed in a Doctoral Program Leadership is an important outcome of the doctor of nursing practice (DNP) program (Zaccagnini White, 2014). Measurement tools are available that identify leadership style (Clark, 2010) and personal talents, called Signature Themes (Gallup, Inc., 2010). When leadership style and personal strengths are identified, they can be maximized to achieve success (Clark, 2010; Gallup, Inc., 2010). This paper provides both a framework about the importance of leadership in the DNP curriculum and several examples of how I will use my leadership style and Signature Themes to succeed in the DNP program. Leadership in DNP Program Curricula Prior to the development of the DNP degree, several practice focused doctoral programs existed in the United States; however, they did not have uniform curricular standards (American Association of Colleges of Nursing [AACN], 2004). An AACN task force (2004) studied the programs and recommended they be consolidated into one practice doctorate, called the DNP. The AACN task force found that leadership preparation was a common curricular thread in each practice doctoral program (AACN, 2004). In 2006, the AACN published The Essentials of Doctoral Education for Advanced Nursing Practice to establish guidelines for DNP curriculum development. The emphasis on leadership ...
