Personal Attributes
I am a well-motivated and hard-working individual who has a passion to learn and develop
in my career. I have strong interpersonal skills which allow me to work effectively as part of
a team. My history of retail has allowed me to become adept at dealing with customers and
colleagues. In my occupation as store manager for Cash Converters, I have become a
successful leader with a staff of 9 working in my team. My acute understanding of my
employees’ strengths and needs has allowed me to meet and exceed monthly sales targets.
Where they have needed training to develop in their role I have seen their needs met to
allow them to progress in their career and to maximise performance in my shop.
My understanding of customer needs, enthusiasm and clear communication allows me to be
a highly effective salesman, I will always endeavour to make sure a customer leaves the
shop satisfied. I am an exponent of the philosophy that if you look after your customers and
make them feel valued, you will be rewarded with repeat custom. It’s often the personal
touch that can make the difference in where patrons choose to take their custom. I am
always keen to learn from those more experienced and never afraid to accept their help. I
take pride in my work and lead by example, I try to model the way I would like members of
my team to perform. My preferred management style is to lead by example; I will often
carry out tasks which many managers might see as below them, as I believe it is important
to be an active member of the team and roll my sleeves up.
Skills and Experience
I have Referred to my interpersonal and management skills above, I have also developed
skills and gained experience in many other aspects of retail management. In my current
position I am responsible for managing payroll, rotas, recruitment, training, disciplinary and
grievance proceedings along with other personnel matters. I am responsible for accounts
and monitoring key performance data. I use this data to keep track of the performance of
the shop. I use this information to track the performance of the aspects of the company’s
operation to enable me to make decisions about the amount of investment to make on
each; in terms of number of employees working on each sector, how each service is
marketed within the shop and what kinds of products we buy and sell more of. I use the
performance data and my own observations of my employees to decide how best to place
them in order to optimise the shop and achieve sales targets.

Hobbies and Interests
My hobbies and interests are varied, I enjoy travelling, music, sport and cooking. I have
played bass guitar in a rock band who performed at local venues and now I play occasionally
for fun. I have always been very keen on football, playing from a young age. On occasions I
put together a six- a-side team to enter local competitions. I am a keen cook and love
experimenting with cuisines from across the world. Lately I have been exploring Mexican
food, making dishes inspired by my travels to North America. Over the last couple of years
I’ve taken up clay pigeon shooting competing informally with friends at Kelbrook in
Lancashire.
