Personal Statement:
I have completed my Ba Hons degree in Business Management with the University of
Surrey and am now looking for a position in which to commence my career and
apply my knowledge in the workplace. I have recently registered with the ACCA
global body to begin my masters in accounting, here is where I see my future lye
since commencing my further studies after school.
My degree has covered a range of business related subjects, including; Introduction
to Accounting, International and Ethical business, Global Marketing, HR
Management, Entrepreneurship, PRINCE2 Project Management and Enterprise.
In 2011, as part of my degree, I successfully completed a work placement for a local
chain of Whitbread plc, the Monkey Puzzle. This was focused on staff motivation and
involved the creation and result analysis of a questionnaire in order to identify key
issues amongst staff in the workplace. From this I was able to make suggestions to
management on how they might improve staff morale within the company. The
challenge of planning and executing such a project has helped to develop my
creativity, moreover it has given me the confidence to take on the unknown and
contribute as part of a team.
My proudest achievement to date was the completion of my degree dissertation in
May 2013, ‘An analysis of the factors influencing price and demand in the fruit and
vegetable market and a consideration of retailer’s strategic response’, (focusing on
the retailer response of W M Morrisons Plc). This involved a detailed investigation
into the companies strategy development and execution, together with extensive
competitor analysis and market research. This piece of work directly contributed to
my Business management degree.
Whilst studying I’ve been employed in several different service industries, helping to
develop my people skills and giving me confidence when dealing with customers and
employers. This was recognised when I was awarded the Customer Service Award in
February 2012 and April 2013 at Morrisons.
My team ethic, communication and leadership skills have all benefitted from my
experiences at work as well as my involvement in team sports such as football.

May 2015 - Present:
Management: Night Senior Manager
During 2014-2015 Morrison's restructured all store management hierarchy, during
this process all management and supervisors were required to apply for up to three
roles. During this process I successfully applied for a senior manager role where I
undertaken key holder responsibilities and am responsible for a higher sales volume
area of the store. I have been focusing on improving the stores stock holding levels
in order to optimize warehouse space during my time in this role while driving for a
higher standard of finish for store opening in the morning.
August 2013 – April 2015:
Supervisor: Fresh Produce
Having completed my studies my part-time employer offered me the opportunity to
take a full-time Supervisor role in the area of the business I had studied for my
dissertation. Whilst my career aspirations still lie elsewhere I was grateful of the
opportunity to take this position and start developing my management skills, taking
responsibility for the work of others and the planning of work tasks.
August 2009 – July 2012:
Part -time checkout operator (midweek evenings and weekends)
Operating a combination of equipment such as the kiosk counter, self scan machines
and original tills. Additionally I was approached to go to the new store as part of the
management team however declined because of the possibility of interference with
my studies, I have also provided cover in other departments and been involved with
the training of new staff as and when required.
Whitbread Plc, Monkey Puzzle Hotel, Pub & Restaurant: 2008 – 2009:
Part-time assistant (Friday & Saturday)
General duties including painting, cleaning and cellar work.
Aldershot Football Club: Season 2007/8:
Part-time job on match days, serving refreshments
Farnborough Football Club: 2005-2007:

Treetops Chartered Accounts, 2006:
Two weeks work experience
This provided me with a valuable introduction into the basics of data entry and the
maintaining of client records as well as contacting clients when necessary.
Furthermore it gave me my first real look at life in an office, which was extremely
useful given my preferred career choice.
