Curriculum Mapping Albertsons Library Summer 2011
Workshop Goals Gain an understanding of curriculum mapping. Use curriculum mapping to connect information literacy goals to one liaison area degree programs. Short-term goal:  Map one degree program by the end of July.
Curriculum Mapping (CM) Curriculum (Latin)= course/path in small steps Teachers as leaders Collaborative inquiry Proactive, strategic, tiered  Data-driven decision-making Verification vs. speculation What students are actually taught Not a replacement for lesson plans Differentiated instruction
CM Outcomes Measurable improvement in student achievement Ongoing curriculum & assessment review
CM Elements Unit name Content What students should know; can be concepts or PBL Skills What students must do; cognitive or physical action Activities (optional) Assessment Assessment: actual product of performance Evaluation: criteria and judgment I, R, M Resources Tutorials, worksheets, activities, etc.
Questions If we have no working knowledge of what students studied in previous years, how can we build on their learning? If we have no insight into the curriculum in later grades, how can we prepare learners for future classes?

Curriculum mapping

  • 2. Workshop Goals Gain an understanding of curriculum mapping. Use curriculum mapping to connect information literacy goals to one liaison area degree programs. Short-term goal: Map one degree program by the end of July.
  • 3. Curriculum Mapping (CM) Curriculum (Latin)= course/path in small steps Teachers as leaders Collaborative inquiry Proactive, strategic, tiered Data-driven decision-making Verification vs. speculation What students are actually taught Not a replacement for lesson plans Differentiated instruction
  • 4. CM Outcomes Measurable improvement in student achievement Ongoing curriculum & assessment review
  • 5. CM Elements Unit name Content What students should know; can be concepts or PBL Skills What students must do; cognitive or physical action Activities (optional) Assessment Assessment: actual product of performance Evaluation: criteria and judgment I, R, M Resources Tutorials, worksheets, activities, etc.
  • 6. Questions If we have no working knowledge of what students studied in previous years, how can we build on their learning? If we have no insight into the curriculum in later grades, how can we prepare learners for future classes?
