EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
The Association for Social Health in India has for the last 84 years been successfully carrying on a legacy
of exemplary Social Work in the ever–challenging field of Women and Child upliftment. The major thrust
of ASHI's activities has been tackling issues of Women and Children.
ASHI's vision is to achieve a healthy happy society where people do not feel deserted unloved or uncared.

vocational and life skill training, all-round guidance, de addiction of drug abuse cases, family counselling,
sheltered accommodation etc.
Building a strong public opinion through involvement of the society at large is crucial to the successful and

of our efforts to reach out to the most vulnerable sections of the society viz., children and women.

TASK ASSIGNED
Since it was just one-week internship, our main motive was not to help them on the education front but to
understand what their needs and wants were other than studies.
The main task assigned to us was more of a felicitator, i.e., to felicitate the interest of students, counsel
them in the right direction, understand their aspirations and showing them the path to achieve their goals.
CSR ACTIVITIES
DAY – 1
As I reached there on first day along with my other mates, we were made comfortable by the coordinators
and was told about the organization, we read and understood the annual report of ASHI and had a meeting
with the one of the directors of FSS Dr. Anjila Gugnani and was told what we want to do and what all they
expect from us.
Further we sat and made groups and strategies to what plans to be laid down in order to interactive and get
involved the children of the FSS group.
We went down to one of the centres of ASHI i.e. Mata Sundari Centre, and had interaction with teacher
over there Ms Ankita and further took the class of 25 students for 2 sessions.
Though that was a school going batch so we decided to teach them how to introduce themselves both in
Hindi and as well as in English, further taught them days of week and names in a year and to have some
fun we asked them the thing they like to do and made them dance and sing poems as well.
DAY – 2
I went to Anna Malae Centre, here we were with South Indian non-school students who were mostly rag-
pickers. So my group decide to teach them importance of studies at least with basis Hindi that is taught to
them by their teachers. Told them about the hygiene habits and not to use bad or abusive languages and
further related them with their favourite movie actress and actors life by telling them they don’t abuse or
fight with each other, all should happily and carefully and caring for every one and helping the person who
need help.
DAY – 3
Started our day with students at Mata Sundari Centre and made them do some basic exercises like jumping,
arm movements, jogging etc. and made them understand the importance of physical health in the life as
well as the hygiene need they need to follow on regular basis. Taught importance of hygiene and other
thing they need to do on regular basis to keep themselves fit and fine and at the each interval of sessions
we had a dance or revision of learning from the class from the students and distributed biscuits to each
student and same was carried out with other sessions also.
DAY – 4
We went to Mata Sundari Centre an there we started some basic exercises as did with them earlier and then
we taught them how to identify and count numbers and showed them what are the currency notes and
coins used by us. These students were unaware of the facts of the currency notes so we showed them
currency note and the use of money and what is written on the currency notes and coins and how each of
them is different from that of other notes.
DAY - 5
We gathered at the main office and decided what we going to do today, so we came out with some activities
to keep them interactive and do some art and craft work on the eve of New Year. So students sketched
and coloured the pictures made by them. At Anna Malay Centre I taught them how to draw a house, ship,
train, sun, trees, fish, fruits like apple, banana, grapes etc. and by this made them learn 5 fruits, colours
and vegetables name and set off by distributing packet of juice to them.
Finally at the office had interaction with the other Directors of the ASHI and they wanted us to prepare a
presentation in order to guide or enlighten them on various topics for all the levels of students part of ASHI.
DAY - 6
The day next to New Year, we went to Anna Malay Centre, where students were available in less in numbers
and as well not in a mood to do much work rather than they wanted to do something exiting apart from
regular exercise they used to have, so my group decided to show some funny, motivational, animated
and educational video through the laptops so that the objective of the day is achieved.
So we played Mr Bean, Wildlife and Tom and Jerry few videos for the students rather them teaching them
on the boards I thought it would be the best way to keep them involved in the process.
DAY - 7
We had presentations with English Speaking Course Students and students of all centres of all age groups
at the main office and gave them presentation and awareness on various topics like Consumer Rights,
Family Safety, Self Defence, Women Empowerment etc. and demonstrated various techniques for their
safety and emergency actions to be taken by them and solve their queries, misunderstandings and myth
regarding the same and assured that they have understood by question answering them regarding the same
and even volunteering them for various self-defence techniques
And collected the feedback as a whole from students as well as teachers present there.
CONTRIBUTIONS
• Encouraging them to overcome their weakness of poverty
• Helping them realize the importance of education and understanding various reasons for not quitting
in between
• Motivating them to participate in co-curricular activities
• Helping teachers to be more specific about the teaching plan
• Making them realize the equal importance of physical activities
• Helping them in organising some co-curricular activities
SHORT COMINGS OF THE CSR INITIATIVE OF THE COMPANY
• They have two-three class groups in one class only
• They have ASHI centres in limited two-three slums in Delhi
SUGGESTIONS TO IMPROVE
Our country has a pool of talent but deprived of proper resources. If means are provided with proper
guidance to channelize their talent in right direction, then children of our country could do wonders and
soon make our country self-reliant in every perspective
A WORKING MODEL OF CSR INITIATIVE WHICH NDIM CAN PURSUE
WITHOUT ACADEMIC LOSS
Gathering all the under privileged students around the college campus and helping them in getting the basic
knowledge of reading and writing whereas getting to know their field of expertise or interest and helping
them earn their living through it. We think that education is important but not necessary to earn a living.
Talent is something that can take you to heights, so our main motive would be recognizing their talent and
helping them groom it.
And not just children, just like what our government does in villages, we will be working on the same model
and will be helping the adults to learn the basic reading and writing skills so that they are not dependent on
anyone for that.
And the way our college can help us will be by letting us use their classrooms and infrastructure for weekend
classes that we have planned. Moreover, there are many students in our college with various expertise of
dance, music and singing. So arranging special classes for students to groom their skills.
WHILE A STUDENT AT NDIM AS A GREAT HUMAN BEING I WOULD LIKE
TO LEAD SOCIAL CAUSES OF...
As a great human being and a responsible citizen of our society the Social Cause I would select as a student
is helping the women who are forced to enter Prostitution, children of the women working in that
environment are forced to join the same profession because the society has rejected both of them and they
have no life beyond that limited space where they work. The world sees them with a tag of prostitution,
they are not accepted anywhere in the outside world which forces them to live a life in their own shell, and
their children who are forced to enter the same profession without even knowing in what hell they are born.
Our vision would be helping girls and women, who are prostitutes, recover stability and confidence. We
will see that healing is best achieved through expression that is physical, because the abuse suffered is
demonstrably physical and causes many girls to disassociate from their bodies. Using dance and cultural
expression as the core, our approach would join group facilitation, improvisation skills, rights education,
and interpersonal communication. Taken together, these elements may allow prostitutes to overcome or in
some measure to move past the trauma and abuse of their early years. Our main aim would be to provide a
fresh approach to the existing rehabilitation programs and to negotiate opportunities for these people to
integrate into mainstream society on an equal footing.

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY The Association for Social Health in India has for the last 84 years been successfully carrying on a legacy of exemplary Social Work in the ever–challenging field of Women and Child upliftment. The major thrust of ASHI's activities has been tackling issues of Women and Children. ASHI's vision is to achieve a healthy happy society where people do not feel deserted unloved or uncared. To reach out to the women and children who have been abandoned by their families and society or those who belong to the under privileged homes and bring about a change in their lives through literacy, vocational and life skill training, all-round guidance, de addiction of drug abuse cases, family counselling, sheltered accommodation etc. Building a strong public opinion through involvement of the society at large is crucial to the successful and effective functioning of any social welfare organisation this is achieved through formation of a strong network throughout the country. • 7. ACTIVITIES FALLING UNDER CSR DOMAIN. Shelters, Short Stay Homes, Old Age Homes, Half Way Homes, Children's Home, Juvenile Guidance Centre, Crèche Centres, Nursery & Primary Schools, Drug Abuse & HIV/AIDS Prevention Centres, Peer Led Intervention Programme (PLI), Drop-in Centre, Family Counselling Centres, Working Women’s Hostel, Multipurpose Women’s Welfare Centre, Women's Helpline, Family Support Services Project (FSS). CSR HEAD OF DEPT  Dr. Anjila Gugnani  Dr. Sumitra Srivastava  Dr. Usha Singh COORDINATORS AT ASHI  Mrs. Madhu  Ms. Kavita TASK ASSIGNED Since it was just one-week internship, our main motive was not to help them on the education front but to understand what their needs and wants were other than studies. The main task assigned to us was more of a felicitator, i.e., to felicitate the interest of students, counsel them in the right direction, understand their aspirations and showing them the path to achieve their goals. CSR ACTIVITIES DAY – 1 As I reached there on first day along with my other mates, we were made comfortable by the coordinators and was told about the organization, we read and understood the annual report of ASHI and had a meeting with the one of the directors of FSS Dr. Anjila Gugnani and was told what we want to do and what all they expect from us. Further we sat and made groups and strategies to what plans to be laid down in order to interactive and get involved the children of the FSS group. We went down to one of the centres of ASHI i.e. Mata Sundari Centre, and had interaction with teacher over there Ms Ankita and further took the class of 25 students for 2 sessions. Though that was a school going batch so we decided to teach them how to introduce themselves both in Hindi and as well as in English, further taught them days of week and names in a year and to have some fun we asked them the thing they like to do and made them dance and sing poems as well.
  • 8. DAY – 2 I went to Anna Malae Centre, here we were with South Indian non-school students who were mostly rag- pickers. So my group decide to teach them importance of studies at least with basis Hindi that is taught to them by their teachers. Told them about the hygiene habits and not to use bad or abusive languages and further related them with their favourite movie actress and actors life by telling them they don’t abuse or fight with each other, all should happily and carefully and caring for every one and helping the person who need help. DAY – 3 Started our day with students at Mata Sundari Centre and made them do some basic exercises like jumping, arm movements, jogging etc. and made them understand the importance of physical health in the life as well as the hygiene need they need to follow on regular basis. Taught importance of hygiene and other thing they need to do on regular basis to keep themselves fit and fine and at the each interval of sessions we had a dance or revision of learning from the class from the students and distributed biscuits to each student and same was carried out with other sessions also. DAY – 4 We went to Mata Sundari Centre an there we started some basic exercises as did with them earlier and then we taught them how to identify and count numbers and showed them what are the currency notes and coins used by us. These students were unaware of the facts of the currency notes so we showed them currency note and the use of money and what is written on the currency notes and coins and how each of them is different from that of other notes. DAY - 5 We gathered at the main office and decided what we going to do today, so we came out with some activities to keep them interactive and do some art and craft work on the eve of New Year. So students sketched and coloured the pictures made by them. At Anna Malay Centre I taught them how to draw a house, ship, train, sun, trees, fish, fruits like apple, banana, grapes etc. and by this made them learn 5 fruits, colours and vegetables name and set off by distributing packet of juice to them. Finally at the office had interaction with the other Directors of the ASHI and they wanted us to prepare a presentation in order to guide or enlighten them on various topics for all the levels of students part of ASHI. DAY - 6 The day next to New Year, we went to Anna Malay Centre, where students were available in less in numbers and as well not in a mood to do much work rather than they wanted to do something exiting apart from regular exercise they used to have, so my group decided to show some funny, motivational, animated and educational video through the laptops so that the objective of the day is achieved. So we played Mr Bean, Wildlife and Tom and Jerry few videos for the students rather them teaching them on the boards I thought it would be the best way to keep them involved in the process.
  • 9. DAY - 7 We had presentations with English Speaking Course Students and students of all centres of all age groups at the main office and gave them presentation and awareness on various topics like Consumer Rights, Family Safety, Self Defence, Women Empowerment etc. and demonstrated various techniques for their safety and emergency actions to be taken by them and solve their queries, misunderstandings and myth regarding the same and assured that they have understood by question answering them regarding the same and even volunteering them for various self-defence techniques And collected the feedback as a whole from students as well as teachers present there. CONTRIBUTIONS • Encouraging them to overcome their weakness of poverty • Helping them realize the importance of education and understanding various reasons for not quitting in between • Motivating them to participate in co-curricular activities • Helping teachers to be more specific about the teaching plan • Making them realize the equal importance of physical activities • Helping them in organising some co-curricular activities SHORT COMINGS OF THE CSR INITIATIVE OF THE COMPANY • They have two-three class groups in one class only • They have ASHI centres in limited two-three slums in Delhi SUGGESTIONS TO IMPROVE Our country has a pool of talent but deprived of proper resources. If means are provided with proper guidance to channelize their talent in right direction, then children of our country could do wonders and soon make our country self-reliant in every perspective
  • 10. A WORKING MODEL OF CSR INITIATIVE WHICH NDIM CAN PURSUE WITHOUT ACADEMIC LOSS Gathering all the under privileged students around the college campus and helping them in getting the basic knowledge of reading and writing whereas getting to know their field of expertise or interest and helping them earn their living through it. We think that education is important but not necessary to earn a living. Talent is something that can take you to heights, so our main motive would be recognizing their talent and helping them groom it. And not just children, just like what our government does in villages, we will be working on the same model and will be helping the adults to learn the basic reading and writing skills so that they are not dependent on anyone for that. And the way our college can help us will be by letting us use their classrooms and infrastructure for weekend classes that we have planned. Moreover, there are many students in our college with various expertise of dance, music and singing. So arranging special classes for students to groom their skills. WHILE A STUDENT AT NDIM AS A GREAT HUMAN BEING I WOULD LIKE TO LEAD SOCIAL CAUSES OF... As a great human being and a responsible citizen of our society the Social Cause I would select as a student is helping the women who are forced to enter Prostitution, children of the women working in that environment are forced to join the same profession because the society has rejected both of them and they have no life beyond that limited space where they work. The world sees them with a tag of prostitution, they are not accepted anywhere in the outside world which forces them to live a life in their own shell, and their children who are forced to enter the same profession without even knowing in what hell they are born. Our vision would be helping girls and women, who are prostitutes, recover stability and confidence. We will see that healing is best achieved through expression that is physical, because the abuse suffered is demonstrably physical and causes many girls to disassociate from their bodies. Using dance and cultural expression as the core, our approach would join group facilitation, improvisation skills, rights education, and interpersonal communication. Taken together, these elements may allow prostitutes to overcome or in some measure to move past the trauma and abuse of their early years. Our main aim would be to provide a fresh approach to the existing rehabilitation programs and to negotiate opportunities for these people to integrate into mainstream society on an equal footing.
