AS a part of my PGDM i have worked in a NGO organisation. This is a small report about that project

1. NGO project in Ekalavya foundation

“Akshaya vidya – A slum children education programme”

 Non profit making, voluntary and service oriented
organisations.
 Slum and poor children education, environment protection,
planting trees,disability,science and technology, health and
educating rural people etc.
 Independent of government.
 Aims towards helping the needy people.

3. Organisation profile
 EKALAVYA FOUNDATION
 Established in 2006
 Founder and vice president is Sri P .Venugopala Reddy Garu.
 Started to develop the living conditions of poor and tribal
communities in Adilabad district forest area.
 Serving the people in the areas of
Education (VIDYA VAHINI )
Health (AROGYA DHARA)
Tribal welfare and Organic forming.

4. About The project
 AKSHAYA VIDYA is a slum education project
 Started by the Ekalavya foundation for providing of
educational assistance to slum children.
 People in Singareni colony are not able to give support to
their children for their education
 In Singareni colony 1400 areas are existed and they are
divided into 60 parts by organization and started their
educational centres.

5. Activities performed by the organisation under
AKSHAYA VIDYA
 Conducting tuitions daily for two hours in evening by local tutors.
 Identifying school drop outs ,motivating them and providing assistance
to those children in continuing their education.
 Conducting national festivals, medical camps, yoga training and some
other religious festivals.
 Monthly training to the tutors by the name of NIVASIVARGA.
 KATHALA RATHRI
 ABHYASA – Dasara camp for all children
 BALA SABHA – every Saturday conducted by children.

6. My activities in the AKSHAYA VIDYA
 Selected two tuition centres.
 Yoga classes.
 Games and songs to entertain them.
 Explained moral stories.
 Participated in NIVASI VARGA - a training programme for the
tutors.
 Interacted with the parents of the children in the Singareni colony.
 Helping the tutors in conducting study hours.
 I discussed with the tutors about the culture, heritage of the
country .

7. Objectives of the NGO project
 Knowing the living conditions of the people in slum area like
Singareni colony.
 Interacting and giving suggestions to the families to improve
their children educational and cultural knowledge and to
provide information about the existing society.
 Entertaining the children along with their studies by playing
and conducting songs sessions in two days of my project.

8. My findings in the project field
 Most of the children are below seventh class.
 All tutors are completed their tenth class and some are studying
regular and some are continuing their open education with the
support of the organisation.
 Some professional peoples in the Hyderabad are giving training
to the tutors and organisers by working as part time members in
organisation.
 Continues parents meeting and family consulting by the
organisers are helped to rise the strength of the tuition centres.

9. Suggestions
 Employing some more tutors on the part time basis with a
commitment .it can improve effectiveness of the project.
 Organisation have to start some classes to the parents to
bring the changes in their family and living status.
 Organisation have the knowledge and a structure in this
project. So , it can start in other areas in the state like forest
areas and backward areas.

10. Conclusion
 EKALAVYA FOUNDATION is playing a vital role in educating the children
and improving the living situations in the existing areas of the
organisation.
 It is a duty of every individual to participate in these type of projects
to serve the Society.
Learnings
How to communicate with the families in the slum areas with
help of the organisers.
Working with a commitment in conducting the study hours.
Interaction with children given a support to know how to
behave with them.
