Travel to Ooty's tea factories, lake and botanical garden
1. OOTY: a travelogue
We, the students from Sree Narayana Training College Poochakkal went to
ooty on October 8th
2015. This trip was planned as a part of my B.Ed
curriculum. And also the main aim of this tour is to give guidance to us
about how to conduct a tour programme in the school where we are going to
appointed as teachers. For this we selected the marvelous and beautiful place
OOTY to conduct our tour…………………………
We, the 90 students started our journey on 8th
evening 7.30 with our
principal Bibby teacher, sangeetha teacher, susan teacher, sino sir and other
non teaching staffs.
2. Basically it was a two night and one day tour. We went by ‘oneness’ bus.
On the way we had so many unexpected experience. Our travelling was
through so many hairpin bends. Wow… that was amazing and also terrible
experience…. Located in Tamilnadu, Ooty is a beautiful hill station atop
Nilgiri hills. Situated at an altitude of about 2500 meters , Ooty with its lush
green scenic beauty , lofty mountains , vast expanse of tea estates is a
favoured tourist spot. Endowed with a wholesome climate , Ooty is an ideal
destination for people seeking to while away some time close to nature.
3. We set off for Ooty in the morning of Saturday and reached a hotel for
accommodation. After freshening up the first place we paid to visit to was
the Tea factories in Ooty. There are so many tea factories in Ooty and we
visited one of them . It was a learning experience to see through the
processing of tea manufacturing. First of all fine leaves are collected by tea
workers and then they are put through a machine to make into smooth paste.
Thereafter, the moist paste of tea leaves are dried and redused to raw tea
powder. Then they are processed through different graders which would
determine the quality of the tea leaves. After that they are packaged and
made ready for sale. Different flavours of tea are sold in the factory itself
like honey tea, chocolate tea, strong tea and so on. Also , ooty is known for
homemade chocolates which are really yummy in taste.
After visiting the tea factory we went to Ooty Lake. It is extending to an area
of 65 acres. It is another popular attraction of Nilgiri Hills. This lake is
basically an artificial lake built by a British collector of erstwhile Ooty in
4. 1824. Set amidst groves of Eucalyptus trees, the lake has house boats parked
along the bank where you may reside for the night. Further, a train line
running along the embankment is an added attraction. You may take
pleasure trip across the lake via speed boats or paddle boats. After watching
the beauty of the lake I maked some shoppings there.
5.
6. After that we paid to visit was the Botanical Garden. Spread over 55 acres of
land , Botanical Garden is one of the most popular attractions of Ooty. The
garden displays some rare species of trees including cork tree, monkey
puzzle tree, fossilized tree. Besides, the garden compartmentalized into 6
different sections including New Garden, conservatory, Fountain Terrace
and Nurseries boast of ferns , bushes, orchids and flower beds . We spent
some wonderful moments in the garden with my friends. We took so many
photos from there. It was the most memorable experience in that days.
7. After Botanical Garden, we went around the town of Ooty in search of bag
shops. After that l found a shop and bought a beautiful hand bag for my
sister. And also I bought so many special items available in Ooty like
chocolate, Ooty carrot, hand fan, key chains, bangles etc.
THE MOST MEMORABLE EXPERIENCE IN MY B.Ed
LIFE………………………..!!!!!!!!!!
I NEVER... NEVER..NEVER... FORGET THIS………….
