The artist chose a photo from their collection that best represented their pop-rock music style. They created canvases in Photoshop for the front and back CD covers. A poster edge filter effect was added to the front cover image to make it look more like a comic strip, fitting the bright clothes in the photo. Fonts were found on dafont.com and text was added to the covers, edited for color. Additional effects, track names, and copyright symbols were included to complete professional-looking front and back CD covers.

1. The Creative Process

2. From the original pictures I’d taken I chose the one I thought would be most appropriate for my CD cover and opened in Photoshop. In the picture the models are wearing bright, clashing and bold clothes which gives the impression that they produce pop-rock music. Next, I created a new canvas in Photoshop. The dimensions for the front cover were 12cm x 12cm and for the back cover they were 12cm x 13.9cm.

3. I decided to add a filter effect to my image to make it look more interesting and like a professional CD cover. I chose the poster edge effect because it gives the image a comic strip quality which fits in well with the clothes that they’re wearing and the style of music they might produce. Once I had added the effect I copied the image onto my CD cover canvas and adjusted it so that the composition looked right.

4. I used www.dafont.com to find a font for the text. Because the image had a cartoon effect I looked under the cartoon themes section on the website until I found one that I liked & would look effective on my CD cover. Once I had imported the text into Photoshop I decided that I wanted to edit the colour of it. I used the magic wand tool to cut out the main part of the font, the eyedropper tool to pick an existing colour from the image so that the text would compliment it and the paintbrush tool to paint it my chosen colour. I then used the magic wand tool to select the shadow behind the text and copied it all into my CD cover canvas.

5. I added the same poster edge effect to the back cover because it worked so well on the front. I then added track names using the same font as before.

6. Finally, I imported a record label and a copyright symbol into Photoshop and added them to my back cover so that it would look professional.
