This gives a positive tone for the young teenage audience. Hair
and makeup also have a huge role in the way the artists are
represented the artists often have really styled hair and bright
makeup.
Choice of location changes a lot in pop music
videos, an example of a location is a beach like
the one direction music video this is
representing peace and a fun tone for there
target audience. Mostly the location will be set
in a fun, bright place.
In the pop genre they focus more on the
artists singing and the choreography rather
than having a narrative or storyline based
video.
Pop music videos are very up beat, lively and
positive this is due to having a young target
audience. The whole reason is it shows artists
having fun and being energetic.
They use a lots of editing in pop music videos such
as jump cuts to allow a sudden change from one
scene to another. They use transitions such as fade
and dissolve because they create a different effect
to cuts.
Pop videos have artificial lighting which puts the artists
in an enhanced look. Some videos have been in black
and white to create a particular mood.
The pop music videos have a lot of long shots,
close ups and mid shots to show the location,
artist and emotions. Close ups aren’t only for
showing the artists emotions but to reflect the
lyrics of the song.
The camera in pop videos just follow the artist or band. They normally tilt
the camera sometimes or allow the artist to hold the camera and film
themselves.
The props they use in pop music videos are there to symbolise
something which is happening in the video.
