Conventions of CD
Advertising
Example (not my work)
Name of Artist
• Advertising the name of the artist is quite possibly the most important aspect of a
CD Advert.
Name of the Album
• Likewise to the artists’ name, the name of the album is equally important as to be
on the advert. It’s best to make the album title different from the rest of the advert
(in terms of colour/font) so that it stands out more.
Main Image
• The Main image will most probably be similar to one of your digipak images-
probably the main one. This will feature the style that you are going for, and will be
the main driving point of your album cover.
Logo
• There will normally be some sort of logo, which will act as something recognisable
for the fans to identify. Although small, this is still an important part of the
advertisement.
Artist and Label Website
• The website of the artist and the label will normally feature at the bottom of the
advert to give fans the opportunity to learn more about the artist.
Release Date
• There will most probably be a release date for the album or single/ or an “Out
Now” which will inform the fans of the date in which the album is released.
Reviews
• Not overly important but nice to include; reviews give the fans a snippet of what
others have thought about the album- mostly from recognised reviewers e.g. ‘the
rolling stone’.

  • 4. Name of the Album • Likewise to the artists’ name, the name of the album is equally important as to be on the advert. It’s best to make the album title different from the rest of the advert (in terms of colour/font) so that it stands out more.
  • 5. Main Image • The Main image will most probably be similar to one of your digipak images- probably the main one. This will feature the style that you are going for, and will be the main driving point of your album cover.
  • 6. Logo • There will normally be some sort of logo, which will act as something recognisable for the fans to identify. Although small, this is still an important part of the advertisement.
  • 7. Artist and Label Website • The website of the artist and the label will normally feature at the bottom of the advert to give fans the opportunity to learn more about the artist.
  • 8. Release Date • There will most probably be a release date for the album or single/ or an “Out Now” which will inform the fans of the date in which the album is released.
  • 9. Reviews • Not overly important but nice to include; reviews give the fans a snippet of what others have thought about the album- mostly from recognised reviewers e.g. ‘the rolling stone’.
