- 7. • Each province in the Philippines can proudly boast of its arts and crafts. For example, Pangasinan have enriched their local arts and crafts. Some of the arts and crafts of Pangasinan include the following: Ceramics – things that are made from heated and hardened clay. Pottery – things such as pots and dishes, that are made from baked clay.
- 9. •Arts and crafts in Pangasinan are being learned by local residents in the province. Local residents treat their arts and crafts as a source of income, making it an entrepreneurship.
- 10. • Modern Art- referred to as “TRADITIONAL” compared to contemporary art. • Contemporary Art is the art of the present which is continuously in process and in flux. • The distinction of modern art and contemporary art could also be a matter of perception and reception depending on the context.
- 11. There are two types of ART • FINE or AESTHETIC (Major Arts) • UTILITARIAN or PRACTICAL (Minor Arts)
- 12. PRACTICAL or UTILITARIAN (Minor ARTS) •Intended for practical use or utility. It is the changing purposes. However, they must posses ornaments or artistics qualities to make them useful and beautiful.
- 13. INDUSTRIAL ART • -it is the changing of raw materials into some significant product for human consumption. Ex: Shell Craft, Bamboo craft, pottery making, shoe making
- 14. Applied or Household art • -This refers to household arts such as flower decoration, interior decoration, dress making cooking and others
- 15. Subject Matter and Style in Contemporary Art • Subject Matter in contemporary arts is not confined to representation of human rights and landscapes. The favourite subject in contemporary art are children, women or the environment such as the late artist Muffet Villegas Flora and Fauna.
- 16. Subject Matter and Style in Contemporary Art • In some artworks, the subject matter is not easily recognized, it the artwork is an experiment on technique, the subject matter is the technique itself.
- 17. MUFFET Villegas • In others such as those in conceptual arts, the viewer has to engage in thinking and exploring the meaning of the artwork. Some artworks are intended to make a statement about an issue so the viewer is guided by written explanation.
