Conscription Essay
Crafting an essay on the subject of conscription can be a challenging endeavor. The complexity
arises from the multifaceted nature of the topic, which encompasses historical, political, ethical,
and social dimensions. Navigating through the vast array of perspectives, arguments, and
counterarguments requires a meticulous approach to research and analysis.
Firstly, one must delve into the historical context of conscription, exploring its roots and
evolution across different societies and time periods. Understanding the geopolitical factors that
have influenced the implementation of conscription adds another layer of complexity. Moreover,
the ethical considerations surrounding mandatory military service demand thoughtful reflection,
as individuals may hold varying beliefs on the morality and necessity of conscription.
Political implications further complicate the essay, as conscription policies often intertwine with
broader national security strategies. Analyzing the impact of conscription on a nation's defense
capabilities and its socio-political fabric necessitates a nuanced examination of historical case
studies and contemporary examples.
Furthermore, the social dynamics of conscription involve exploring its effects on communities,
families, and the individuals compelled to serve. This requires an in-depth exploration of the
psychological, economic, and sociological aspects of conscription, bringing to light the diverse
consequences it can have on different segments of society.
In conclusion, writing an essay on conscription demands a thorough understanding of historical
events, political ideologies, ethical considerations, and social dynamics. The ability to synthesize
information from various sources and present a coherent, well-supported argument is crucial.
While challenging, such essays provide an opportunity to engage with complex issues and
contribute to a deeper understanding of the subject matter.

A Letter from Birmingham Jail Rhetorical Analysis
A Letter from Birmingham Jail written by Martin Luther King Jr. was a defence
strategy of nonviolent resistance to racism. The Birmingham campaign commenced
on April 3rd of 1963, it was a march coordinated to protest against racism and racial
segregation in Birmingham, Alabama. The campaign was entirely nonviolent and
was coordinated by the Alabama Christian Movement for Human Rights including
Dr. King s Southern Christian Leadership Conference. On April 10th, Judge Jenkins
issued a blanket injunction going against parading, demonstrating, boycotting, and
trespassing. Leaders of these two campaigns said they were going to disobey this
rule they were given. A few days later on April 12th, Martin Luther King Jr. was
arrested along with other activist leaders.
Once Dr. King arrived to Birmingham jail, he was faced with difficult conditions. An
ally of his sneaked in a newspaper that was published on April 12th. There was a
statement written by eight clergymen called A Call for Unity, which went against
what King and his campaign were implementing on the streets of Birmingham,
Alabama. The statement enraged Dr. King to write a response. Dr. King used logos in
the letter to help support his counter argument against the clergymen. In spite of my
shattered dreams.. King wrote, ... I came to Birmingham with the hope that the
religious leadership... Would see the justice. By stating this, he showed pathos. King
put into words that through the process to end segregation, there was hardship along
the way, and dreams were destroyed by other people s actions who did not display
care towards the black community.
The city of Birmingham pervaded with brutal police officers, unjust courts, and
bombings of Negro homes that were unsolved. He is being knowledgeable, moral
and reasonable. He is being reasonable when he says that there is injustice
everywhere, not just the South. He is knowledgable when the clergymen told him he
needs to wait and responds with that he has waited for about three hundred and forty
years. He finally shows morality when Dr. King wrote ...so we must see the need for

Independency And Maturing In Treasure Island
Themes
Independency and Maturing
Treasure Island is a story about adventure. However it encompasses the theme of
Independency and maturing. Jim is a young boy who is in the middle of becoming a
Independent and mature adult. He has developed throughout the adventure and has
turned into a role model for the others around him. He is very courageous and has
developed mature habits as the book progresses top the end.
The uselessness of Wealth
Treasure Island is the story of a voyage in which the pirates tend to get rich. Many of
the pirates on the boat were very poor. The treasure was a motive for them throughout
the whole book. The pirates and crew desired wealth and were extremely greedy. The
theme of uselessness of wealth is one that constantly reappears throughout the whole
book. Stevenson portraits this when the pirates constantly switch sides, betrayed each
other, and do very violent and uncivil things just to get to the treasure. Stevenson
portraits the uselessness of desire when the pirates discover that the treasure map
leads them to a deserted hole. X did not mark the spot as finding nothing distresses

duty: they stay loyal to their friends but don t necessarily feel obliged to follow

Doctor Livesey saves Long John Silver. The call of duty remains an important part of
the pirates lives throughout the novel. Although the rest of the pirates commit various
crimes, thefts, and much more, Jim and Dr. Livesey remain civil throughout. It

Assistive Listening System
A variety of assistive listening systems, or hearing assistive technology, can help
students who are deaf or hard of hearing. According to the National Association for
the Deaf, assistive listening systems can be used to enhance the effectiveness of
hearing aids. Assistive listening systems use a microphone, a type of transmission
technology and a device for capturing and bringing the sound to the ear.
The specific transmission technology used in the system is typically what contrasts
one type of assistive listening system from another. Information, moods, emotions:
The human voice and music are able to convey a lot of things. Provided that they
are being clearly understood. That s what Sennheiser systems for assistive listening
are made for. They are our valuable contribution to the inclusion of people. To do
this, we use all our know how in audiology, the science of hearing.
After all, it s our goal to connect people. Bringing down barriers wherever possible is
part of that. What are ALSs?
Assistive Listening Systems (ALSs) are sometimes called Assistive Listening
Devices (ALDs). Essentially they are amplifiers that bring sound directly into the
ear. They separate the sounds, particularly speech, that a person wants to hear from
background noise. They improve what is known as the speech to noise ratio. ALSs

The Community Of The Lgbtq Community
In the twenty four hours following the election, a surge in calls to suicide hotlines
primarily from those belonging to the LGBTQ community. Trumps victory had
caused thousands to suddenly fear their own futures in this country and questioned
which of their rights they were going to lose in the next four years. This lead to
many calling suicidehotlines for confirmation that life was worth living for and that
their was always hope. Crisis lines dedicated to the LGBTQ community were
specifically the ones that were most effected. The numbers of calls they were
receiving were in the thousands, over doubling the average number of calls received
and reaching unprecedented levels. An additional concern is that this may be causing
a sudden influx trans suicides, potentially up to ten. However, none of these cases
have as of yet been confirmed, so there is a possibility that no suicides in relation to
the election have occurred. Transpeople within America have a particularly
precarious state in this country and the election seems likely to remove their rights in
the upcoming years. Regardless, the election has increased the anxieties of countless
in this country. This recent development was quite important to me as someone who
is part of the LGBTQ community. Although the election was seen as high stakes for
both Democrats and Republicans, Trump s policies will most likely have a negative
impact disproportionately on minorities, immigrants, and those who have

Every day the economies and companies grow with greater speed and more
facilities in the markets. One of the main concerns and problems is that this
growth is not being done in a transparent, integral or sustainable way, which is
bringing the planet and the society to their limits or what the International Institute
for Sustainable Development has called the crisis of responsibility or lack thereof
(IISD, 2009). Indeed, environmental, economic and social problems are growing
hastily on a planet with 7 billion inhabitants, where almost 1 billion go to bed
every night hungry, 2.7 billion live on less than $ 2 a day, there s 394 ppm of
carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. A place where a wealthy minority group has the

Lost Generation
Jack Kerouac and Ernest Hemingway represent their inner state and feelings at the
time they lived through their novels. Ernest Hemingway corresponds to the Lost
Generation of 1920 s and Jack Kerouac corresponds to the Beat Generation of 1950
s. Both of these generations were after wars. It is not coincidence, wars make
people devastated and lost. People tried to overcome problems and pain through
literature and music. Writers put all their emotions on the paper, musicians wrote
songs, which described the hard time they had. These two generations produced the
most talented writers of our days. For us it seems that there was no big deal to write
such openly, but if we try to go back to the time of these authors, we will understand

I d just tromper you with everybody. You couldn t stand it (p.62). Jake is lost; he
could not fully realize himself as a normal man. This problem means that he could
not have sex, he could not marry, and finally he could not have a normal family
with children. All of these problems made him get drunk often, as alcohol helped
him to forget about problems for a little time. Once, Robert Cohn asked him: Don t
you ever get the feeling that all your life is going by and you re not taking
advantage of it? Do you realize that you ve lived nearly half the time you have to
live already? and he answers, Yes, every once in a while. (p.30). So, alcohol was
an escape from his problems and he said: Under the wine I lost disgusted feeling
and was happy (p.150). When he is drunk, life seems better and easier. But when he
wakes up next morning, he regrets it, but he never tries to change his life, he just
accepts it as it is. Hemingway presented Jake and Brett to portray people with lost
believes and nothingness. Both of them accepted their lives as it was and did not try
to change anything. Hemingway is not optimistic about the future, for him and his
characters the meaning of life is lost. Similarly to Hemingway, Kerouac shows
readers how people wanted to escape reality, as to forget about war young people
traveled across the country in order to find the lost meaning of the life and have fun.
Kerouac chooses a different path and describes the characters of the

his ability to give back to his parents and friends. As he assumes that the arguments
are over and he is in control of his own life again. Additionally, Bigger has more
important problems to worry about than his current friendship, as he had just
murdered a wealthy high class girl. Another important note is how Bigger feels so

He realizes that to stand up to Britten s questioning is he able to not be killed for
his actions so he expends most of his mental energy to craft his story, it is a life or

5.Why does Bigger threaten Jan with a gun?
Bigger is naturally afraid that Jan might speak a different story than what he told
P.I. Britten, so in an attempt to silence and bully him into submission to stop asking
questions. This however backfires as Jan is not the kind of man who would easily
give up on what he set his eyes on, in this case it was his innocence. Jan is also a
man that doesn t like things too complicated, so when Bigger introduces him to his
little murder story, Jan defends his own self well enough that the story is unearthed
quickly.
6.What is Bigger s plan to get money from Mr. Dalton?
Bigger plans to disguise Mary s disappearance as a communist kidnapping. Following
his interrogations from Britten and how he pointed fingers at the communist party,
Bigger decides to forge a note that suggests that the Communists party kidnapped
Mary Dalton. His plan backfires after the Dalton s actually release Jan, believing that
he would give them back their daughter in a trade style, Jan for Mary. As Mary is

The College Level Writing Course
At the beginning of the class this year, I didn t expect o to well right off the bat of
the college level writing course because I had always struggled with English in
middle school through high school. To my surprise though, I have learned many
things this semester and have already used some of these skills in other papers in
other classes I had. Thanks to the help of Sue Oakes, I can now say proudly that I
can actually write a decent paperand feel rather confident about it. Starting off the
year in the English class, I had already messed up the first task. I had forgotten to the
to sample writingso that she could see how our witting skills were and would try to
see what type of work she will have to put into us to make us capable to write a
college ready paper. So to start the semester off I had already one late assignment
and thought to myself great she thinks I will be a slacker because I already didn t
turn in something . Going more I n depth into the first unit, we had to write a story
about ourselves but it had to be a family myth. At the time I was very perplexed
because I had never heard of a family myth before so I had no idea what to write
about; so I ended up writing about those dang cigars. The step by step process
really helped me out in writing papers which I still use for papers now. When I had
come to the completion of the paper, I was very satisfied with the work I had
accomplished. This paper was going to be the easy paper though, but I didn t
The Teaching Of Art As Social Revolution Summary
When there is an argument, there is always a counter argument. Is it morally right for
graphic designers to design something so persuading? In The Teaching of Art as
Social Revolution by Vincent Lanier,he argues that it is morally right for graphic
designers to design anything. To begin with this, it is important to know that fine arts
and popular arts like photography, motion pictures, graphic designin advertising,
fashion design are the same and serve the same purpose to the community which is
to reflect on the community nowadays, like war, sex, race, drugs, poverty to the
design and the art in social matter and the human development in changing its
behaviour, as art is useless without its reflect on the society. Thus the reason why
art in education should serve as a social revolution. When art does not follow the
social revolution, it simply does not live to serve its purpose or obligations to the
society. It is important to know however that art does not teach people on how to
behave in a society but merely to develop new ways of making our society
operative and equitable. It does not mean that art that reflects on our lives is better
than those that are not, it s simply saying that art could have also dealt with some
that already deal with social problems. It is very important to know that ...arts are not
merely the celebrations of values to which we are already committed...it nevertheless
is a great instrument for the achievement of whatever values we do
Differences Between New England Middle And Southern
Colonies
There are three different colonial regions, New England, The Middle Colonies, and
The South. Each of them consist of different states. New England includes New
Hampshire, Massachusetts, Connecticut, and Rhode Island. The Middle Colonies
have New York, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Delaware. The South consists of
Maryland, Virginia, North and South Carolina, and Georgia. They all differ when it
comes to economic, social and political factors. New Englandhad the most developed
economy and culture. They had poor soil full of stones, hilly lands and long winters
made agriculture hard for them. They heavily relied on the ocean, using it for water
powered mills, harbors, trading, and fishing. However, because they couldn t go the
agricultural way, they relied on the middle and southern colonies to provide their
food. Their rapid growth led to towns and schools. Their social life consisted of town
meetings, after their town halls were built. They had a local self government and
most of the freemen participated in this at some point, although the wealthy freemen

Their environment is an ideal place for large farms and the lowland and bays made it
possible to create harbors, which provided trading opportunities where the three
regional colonies met. Their society was more varied, cosmopolitan, and tolerant that
in New England. It was filled with large houses, broad, tree lined streets and busy
docks. The region is where trade dominated the coast and farming dominated the
hinterland. Their social lives were not very set, because most of the states declared
themselves independent. In political matters, New York was important as a political
center, at one time it was even acting as the nation s capital. Things were very
different in the south compared to these middle
The Wake Short Story
The Wake
Everyone outside my family seemed to think I was fine, but they obviously didn t

part was, I felt I was alone.
Those are the thoughts that were circling around in my head non stop while I was
in the car on my way to the wake of my little brother, K.J. When we arrived at that
gloomy nightmare of a place, I was greeted with what seemed a thousand hugs and
the only thing I could think of was, I barely know any of these people so why are

I sulked around the room that was filled with what seemed a thousand unfamiliar

crash down and cry again, I felt a bit of happiness from these peoples kindness. Was
this wrong? Aren t I supposed to be mourning over my loss? Then someone at the
wake that I didn t even know, told me that instead of mourning over the death. I
should be taking pride in him because after all, he was a hero. In fact, he saved a
little baby s life by donating his liver. So many other people had plenty of comments
and connections that really made me think. Maybe I m not alone in this after all.
So instead of feeling depressed and alone, I was feeling a bit of joy. Even though it
was sad that he died. I was glad that at least I m not the only one mourning over a

class were mourning as well. Once I saw this, I discovered out of all of this chaos, at

A Special Service Dance Essay
Introduction: For centuries when a person was diagnosed with a disability they were
institutionalized per the doctor s request. There were many advancements in the 20th
century in trying to get people who suffer from a disability the proper help they need.
During the 1960s, President Kennedy called for the deinstitutionalization of people
with disabilities and increase in community services (DisabilityRights, 2012, p.6).
President Kennedy wanted the community to come together to help assist people
with a disability specifically mental retardation. Due to numerous laws enacted by
the government, in today s society the community gets involved in assisting
people of all different types of disabilities. One of the ways they do this is through
a special service dance. On September 27, 2014 in Tenafly at the Jewish
Community Center, I attended the special service dance that is available for all
different types of disabilities. This dance has a mix of high functioning and low
functioning people with disabilities, from the ages of fourteen to twenty five. I
choose to do the dance because many of the topics were covered in class were
displayed at the dance.
Prejudice:
When people hear the word disability their are still negative connotations being
made against people with disabilities. Based on personal experience, before
attending the dance I prejudged the dance and what type of people I would be
working with. I assumed it would have people of all different
Difference Between Chinese Culture and Western Culture
Intercultural Communication and the Conflicts between Chinese Culture and
Western Culture
Abstract
There are many matters of cultural conflicts in intercultural communication of
Chinese culture and western culture, and it seriously affects the course of
communication. So, it is necessary for us to find the in depth reason and make some
plans on how to improve the ability of intercultural communication. This is the right
way to avoid the cultural conflicts. There are several culture conflicts: the conflicts on
privacy, the conflicts on the sense of time, the conflicts on traditional cultures, the
conflicts on table custom. The reasons are: the difference in the mode of thinking, the

B. The conflicts on the sense of time
The sense of time of western people is closely related with money. The idea that
Time is money has formed in their thought. So, they set a high value on their time.
In the daily time, western people have a meticulous plan about their time and they
have a good habit of coming to date on time. In western countries, if you want to
call on someone, you must inform them or date with them before you come and
you should tell them your coming purpose, the time and the place. After both of
you discuss about it, you can make it out. But, Chinese people use their time at
their pleasure. Usually, Chinese people will not do things as the western people,
and western people usually feel unsuitable on this course. Most western people
spend their time in working and studying, they seldom spend a lot time in eating or
doing something else. But Chinese people spend much time on other things. For
example, when western people come to KFC to have a meal, they eat their food as
soon as possible, but, the Chinese people in KFC show another situation. They eat
their food slowly and chat with each other. They do not think this is a way to waste
time.
C. The conflicts on traditional cultures
Chinese people pay special attention to modesty. When they communicate with others,
they often respect others but look down upon themselves. They think this is a virtue
and this is a polite phenomenon with Chinese characteristics. When others praise
Let It Not Be Like Hog Poem Analysis
If we must die let it not be like hogs The simile let it not be like hog motivates the
audience to die with dignity, it does this by implanting the thought of dying like a
hog, since hogs often die a brutal and cruel death this simile motivates the audience
to die a righteous death. This is a powerful line as it states the idea of the poem and
sets the scene for the audience. This line is the beginning of an extended metaphor.

The metaphor is meant to give the audience something to compare the situation to
and makes the audience empathetic towards the situation. If we must die oh, let us
nobly die, Ms McKay uses repetition and repeats the title/conditional statement If we
must die , this makes sure that the audience s attention does not get drawn away
from the thesis. McKay uses onomatopoeia when he says oh midline, it provides the
line with a sense of human connection and makes the line more dramatic. When he
says let us nobly die he pleads with the audience to let him and his people die with
dignity and to the African Americans to stand up and earn their rights. So that our
precious blood may not be shed The use of the word precious reminds the audience
that the African American s blood is important and that their lives should not be lost
for an unworthy cause. This line saddens the audience and gives them a true insight
to the situation. In vain; then even the monsters we defy The is the turning point of
the poem, the poet has outlined the situation and now is beginning to motivate the
audience to the overall goal of standing up for their rights and to die with dignity.
The semicolon is used to separate the two clauses. The poet uses the metaphor then
the monsters we defy as a way of comparing monsters and one s fears, this metaphor
provides starts to implant the audience with the idea of an uprising and motivation.

Comparison Of Queen Elizabeth And Winston Churchill s
Speech
Queen Elizabeth wrote an inspiring speech to the Troops who fought for the Armada
about their honor and power over this astonishing war. Alongside, Winston Churchill
delivered a majestical yet powerful speech about the issue dealing with battle of
Britain and the unifications needing to be healed. Queen Elizabeth and Winston
Churchillboth delivered exhilarating speeches to their troops and counties with the
battle of Britain. The Queen delivers her speech to the courageous group of men
and women who fought this rigid, enduring war. While Winston delivers his
speech to the House of Commons. While analyzing and juxtaposing these two
speeches and their contrastive audiences; it is very mere to see the compelling
diction, dynamic emotion used in their speeches. Queen Elizabeth uses the woman

uses the phrase, I know I have the body but of a weak and feeble woman . She
ultimately uses this parlance to employ her bodyful actions, to use this as a

therefore she displays this to the audience with her declamations. Many women use
their women instincts in their times of endearment, Jk Rowling gave a speech in

Analysis Of The Book Where Dr. Jekyll
(Aronson 2) Being from Edinburgh, Stevenson was surrounded with the well known
tales of the past and a history of duality in his hometown. Deacon Brodie and Dr.
Knox were both from Edinburgh and both lived double lives , this undoubtedly had a
major impact upon Stevenson s imagination and later his writings. (Stefan 5)
While growing up Stevenson had a friend and the son of Sir James Simpson, the
developer of medical anesthesia, the two friends would experiment with chloroform,
for the enjoyment of it. (Stefan 5) This experimenting carries a familiarity with it
that would later be found in the character of Dr. Jekyll in Stevenson s novel, where
Dr. Jekyll tells in the letter upon his death that he began turning himself into Mr. Hyde

(Aronson 2) Stevenson and more so his parents, saw the duality in this. Stevenson
returned to Grez in 1877. He was not practicing law, nor was he earning much from
his writing, having published less than ten essays in 1876. He was financially
dependent on his parents, who were shocked to learn that he was courting a married
woman. (Aronson 2) Stevenson was showing love, but at the same time he was
committing an act of evil. After difficult circumstances and chasing his love half way
around the world, Stevenson married the woman and came back to his home in
Edinburgh. (Aronson 2) One morning in the fall of 1885, Stevenson had a
nightmare that his wife woke him from. He was upset that his wife had awoken

Psychoanalytic Theory And Depth Psychology
Claudia Segal
Question #1
1.Write a short essay in which you describe and discuss what you consider to be at
least one major strength or intellectual contribution and at least one major weakness
of Freud s version of psychoanalytic theory and depth psychology. In your essay,
show your understanding of key Freudian concepts 20 pts. (2 pages)
Sigmund Freud s primary version of psychoanalytical theory presented in the late 19th
century is one that has withstood the tests of time; with just a few exceptions. Freud s
psychoanalytical theory which is comprised of many of Freud s very unique and
great theories like the tripartite mind, psychosexual developmental stages, and
defense mechanisms gave insight into the inner workings of the mind that until then
had not yet been discovered nor explored. After all, psychoanalysis centers on
exposing the human unconscious by viewing human behavior through a deterministic
lens, meaning that the mind is governed by the unconscious, instinctual drives, and
other forces.
Some of his theories such as his concept on the existence and meaning of
psychosexual developmental stages fall under being deterministic; this is because
Freud was a strong believer in psychic determinism, which is a type of determinism
that theorizes that all mental processes are determined by the unconscious or
preexisting mental complexes. There lies one of Freud s greatest weaknesses in my
opinion, as over time the popularity for determinism has shifted to humanism,
Photoshop should be banned for models
Digitally altering pictures or Photoshopping is the norm of not only the fashion
industry but any industry related to print media nowadays. Retouching pictures
has not blossomed due to technology, we can trace it back to 1500 s when the
period of high renaissance art was fading away a new form of art was emerging
known as Mannerism which applauded the modified physic of the subjects over the
regular ones(1). Setting impossible standards, models are made to look like virtual
perceptions and nothing like their own selves. Being in the fashion industry, models
that are already in perfect shape and in the pursuit of the size 0 are slimmed down to
a point where the alteration is very apparent. Their faces enhanced, their curves made

You must look at the color, the consistency, the clarity and the shape of the aura.
There are specific meanings for each of the colors of the aura which we will deal
with in a separate chapter. The primary colors have set meanings, but a
combination color such as a reddish brown would take on qualities of both colors.
And how clear and bright the color is, is very important to the interpretation,
because a bright color means something very different than a dull color. As you
learn about the colors you will also learn about where on the body the color is.
Each chakra in the body is associated with a certain color so don t be surprised to
find that color near that chakra. Colors around one area can mean one thing and
around a different area mean something completely different. When we look at a
person s aura we are looking at their true self, everything that is left after you take

trivial behavior. Their aura shows who they truly are not the facade they show

Examples Of Pedagogical Model Of E-Learning
Pedagogical Models for e Learning 2.1 Preamble Pedagogical models constitute one
of three main components in the e learning continuum. The other two components are
instructional strategies and pedagogical tools or online learning technologies. All
three components work in tandem to provide the outline for a theory based design
framework to facilitate the orchestration of learning activities to deliver online
learning. In simple term, the mechanism by which they function can be likened to a
set of cogwheels setting in motion all activities relative to the dimension of teaching
and learning and driving the dynamics triggered by a set of predetermined learning
objectives to make learning possible. Pedagogical models are pre cursors to defining
instructional strategies. In turn, instructional strategies provide the directions to
educators to design learning activities which are accomplished through the use of
digital (learning) technologies, encompassing both asynchronous and synchronous
communication tools to orchestrate e learning. 2.2 Pedagogical Models for E

learning at their convenience, be it in the comfort of their home or at work. Contact
with course facilitators is established through the use of both the asynchronous and

are the result of various factors, including lack of knowledge about menstruation
and pregnancy, lack of access to, and knowledge about how to use contraceptives;
difficulties in using contraceptives because of a partner s or family objections;
contraceptive failure; and sexual assault. Also, adolescents may more often delay
seeking care for abortion related complications due to lack of transportation, lack of
knowledge about where post abortion care can be obtained, fears of censure from
their parents and healthcare providers, fear of legal repercussions, or lack of money to
pay for services (Ipas, 2005). This may be particularly so in rural communities where
access to basic in frastructural facilities remain low and inadequate

What Is Davis Use Of Evidence In The Return Of Martin
Guerre
During the 16th century peasants held agriculture, farming, and sex as important.
Intercourse was not viewed as pleasure but rather a way to create heirs to the
family. Peasants married for money not love. Throughout the book The Return of
Martin Guerre, Natalie Zemon Davis uses sex and sexual references were used to
support the claim that Bertrande knew Arnaud was not her husband, but with
knowledge brought up in Robert Finlay s argument it becomes aware that Davis
argument contains assumption and lacks evidence which raises the debate of
whether or not Bertrande knew Arnaud was her husband. Bertrande and Martin s
sexual relationship is one of Davis main pieces of support to her claim that
Bertrande knew that Arnaud was not her husband. It was made clear that there were
facial and body features that were not identical between Martin and the fake Martin .
There were no portraits to help recall what Martin looked like... Show more content

Davis works around the problem of not having many primary sources by interpreting
information and making educated assumptions about how Bertrande and others were
feeling at the time. Finlay acknowledges Davis lack of evidence and sheds light on
the idea that Davis knew something that others did not know at the time, she has
recognized a truth that apparently remained hidden from both the villagers of Artigat
and the judges of Toulouse. (Finlay 558). If what Davis thought Bertrande was
feeling at the time was accurate or important it would have been brought up in the
trial which was documented. Since it was not it is hard to interpret Davis information
on her claim as accurate. With this being known, it is aware that Bertrande did not
know that Arnaud was not Martin. Finlay is able to support this idea with basic
knowledge on peasants, which makes his argument

Comparing Life Of Pi And The Tyger By William Blake
Life of Pi by Yann Martel, and The Tyger by William Blake can be seen as
comparable from numerous viewpoints.
Though one is a novel and the other is a short poem, the two pieces of writing can be
thoroughly analyzed on their perspectives and themes to highlight important aspects
in each.
The stories contain a similar animal theme and both question God, yet they differ in
their views on God.
A similar aspect in the two stories is the animal theme.
When Pi is trapped on a lifeboat, his only company is a Bengal Tiger. It was in this
circumstance that Pi understood the animal need for survival. Pi says of his
transformation from a strict vegetarian into someone who expected to kill to
survive, that, I descended to a level of savagery I never imagined possible. (218).
Everyday, Pi felt like he was at a crucial point in his life, since he didn t know
whether he would live to see tomorrow, especially with Richard Parker on the
lifeboat. This is when Pi s animal instincts kicked in and mirrored that of the tiger s.
The animal inside of him, and his survival instincts ended up plainly evident in his
battle for survival.
In the poem The Tyger, the animal theme is exhibited through the narrator s
relentless questions of the tiger. In the poem it says, What immortal hand or eye,
Dare frame thy fearful symmetry? (23 24). This happens to be the narrator s way of
asking who would dare to create an animal so vicious and dangerous. Throughout the
poem, the speaker asks various questions about the ferocity of the creature. Be that as
it may, this is the nature of a tiger. They are wild animals that are dangerous, and act
on instinct.
In the two stories, the animal theme depicted conflicts with civilization. Pi was
forced to abandon his knowledge and behaviour from the civilized life he once led,
in order to embrace his animal instincts and survive. In The Tyger , we can see the
contempt of the speaker while considering the behaviours of the wild animal. By
looking at this similar element from the two stories, it is easier to perceive how the
two cases may be seen. Pi could be looked upon like the tiger, in that they were
similar in their animal ways. Many individuals would not have the strength to do

Expanding Child Participation in Prevention and Elimination of Child labor
through Peer Education and Child Labor Monitoring (A Concept Paper)
I.RATIONALE: A.BACKGROUND A survey conducted by the National Statistics
Office (NSO) and international labor Organization (ILO) in 2011 estimated
working children, 5 to 17 years old at 5.5 million. 3 million or 54.5 % were
engaged in hazardous child labour. Under the law, child labor is defined as any
form of work or economic activity performed by a child that subjects him/ her to
exploitation, is harmful to health and safety, physical and mental or psychosocial
development. The top three industries are agriculture, hunting, forestry, wholesale
and retail, and private households. Over 60% are in agriculture while 30% are in
the service sector. Families and children often times refuse to see the risks of
dangerous occupation to children. They believe that it is necessary to be able to
help in addressing the needs of the family. Regardless of the danger they face,
children are forced into labour due to poverty and lack of available resources and
services for their needs. School represent the most important means of drawing
children away from labour. However, despite policy for free education, children do
not attend school due to costs of books, projects, school supplies, meals and
transportation and possible lost earnings. On January 2013, The Department of Labor
and Employment, introduced the roll out of a convergence
Rhetorical Analysis Of President Joe Biden s Unity

Unity Through Equality
In late June of 2016, Vice President Joe Biden had an official visit to his ancestral
country, Ireland. Biden planned his five day visit to meet with Prime Minister Enda
Kenny to discuss Irish American relations, and to address the Irish people about the
value of global inclusiveness. Throughout his speech, Biden uses different rhetorical
strategies that aim to unify the Irish and American people. Biden s arrival to Ireland
occurs at a time when immigration is heavily debated, and right before the world s
largest pride parade in Dublin. Strategically, his words express the similarities
between Ireland and America, by connecting the two nations on one shared value of
equality. Biden uses equality as the foundation of a shared sense of resilience that is
evidenced in Irish and American past, present, and future.
Biden argues that both Ireland and America hold the same values at heart when
comparing the Declaration of Independence and the 1916 Proclamation. He states that
the phrase We hold these truths to be self evident that all men are created equal , and
the 1916 Proclamation s, all of the children of the nation equally , are notions
founded in equal rights, equal opportunity, and religious and civil liberties for
everyone. Biden mentions that these terms are grounded, and are not empty words on
a page. He is trying to explain the depth of their meaning by noting that they are the
foundation of any political or social organization that aims to
Compare And Contrast Bowlby And Maslow
Applying two theoretical approaches I would apply Bowlby (attachment) and
Maslow (humanistic). John Bowlby was a psychoanalyst and believed that mental
health and behavioural problems could be linked to early childhood. Bowlby
suggested that a child would initially form only one primary attachment (monotropy)
and that the attachment figure acted as a secure base for exploring the world. The
attachment relationship acts as a model for all future social relationships so
disrupting it can have severe consequences.
This theory also suggests that there is a significant phase for developing an
attachment (about 0 5 years). If an attachment has not developed throughout this
period then the child will experience from irreversible developmental consequences,
such as lack of intelligence and enhanced aggression. Bowlby also explains in his
theory Deprivation and Privation. Deprivation means the temporary prolonged and
permanent separation of a child from its attachment figure. Privation is where no
attachment figure has been formed. Bowlby identified a number of possible short and
long term effects of maternal deprivation and these are detailed in the table below:
This may explain Anna s inability to form solid relationships with others. Anna would

The Extensive Functions Of The Various Anatomical
Structures
The extensive functions of the various anatomical structures of the brain are
constantly being studied due to the complexity of this organ. Often times its many
roles are taken for granted including speech. Speech involves a complex planning
process as well as the ability to execute it properly by coordinating and managing the
movements of the mouth and tongue. When specific braininjuries occur this function
is compromised in what is known as apraxia. This is a speech disorder where a
person has difficulty with the planning and executing processes of movement for
speech despite there being no weakness of the actual speech muscles. This can result
in increased difficulty producing desired sounds at a consistent rate. Though we do

The anatomical area within the brain that is responsible for producing apraxia when
damaged was unknown, the aim of the study was to compare brain scans of both
affected and unaffected patient to determine a common anatomical region damaged
among those with apraxia to determine an anatomical reference point within the brain.
Background
To begin the discussion on the language and speech coordination within the brain and
the research conducted within the research, I will first differentiated between aphasia
and apraxia as the two are often confused due their overlapping nature. The
language organ of the brain has been traditionally known as Wernecki s area, Broca
s area, and the perisylvian strip (Kean). When any or several of these regions are
damaged, the following disorder in language is known as aphasia. Aphasia can
involve varying levels of difficulty involved in understanding and producing speech.
In the past, apraxia has often been understood as a part of aphasia however the two
have been found to be distinct language disorders.
Language disorders are caused by damage to the brain which can be a result of a
stroke, tumor, trauma, or other neurological diseases such as Alzhiemers. Stokes are
the major cause language disorder such as aphasia. During a stroke there is a rupture

areas that have an unwanted military presence, local citizens will think of military

Since children go through so many social, emotion, and educational needs the

creation of fake accounts. Accounts are set up utilizing similarities in logos and

more present in today s society due to the frequent use of social media platforms as
a quick source of current events. This increased use of online sites for information
allows for an escalation in misinformation as a result of the establishment of fake

Loose Animal Laws
Dogs remain one of the friendliest and most beloved animals to humans, but despite
their ability to sustain a lovable reputation, dogs do not possess the ability to realize
the ramifications of their actions. Homes built in the rural area are built fenceless,
giving dogs a literal doorway to run loose because the owner chooses not to enclose
their property. Loose dogs must be properly restrained because they cause
neighborhood nuisances, contaminate property, and above all violate animal laws.
Dogs are not born to live in an enclosed house, they deserve to freely run in open
space and relish the taste of freedom. While that fact remains an important part of
making a happier dog, the fact of having consideration and respect for others also
remains crucial. Construction sites for new homes aren t a rare site in developing
neighborhoods. A neighbor s loose dog disrupted some builders at work by playing

How Does Temperature Affect Freezing Point
Topic: Does adding different substances to water effect the freezing rate?
Objectives:
The main objective of the experiment was to find the freezing rate of water when
different substances were added. The state of changing liquid to solid is called
freezing point.
Introduction:
When temperature decreases, liquid changes into solid called freezing. The
temperature at which the solid liquid change takes place depends on the purity of the
substance. Melting and freezing temperature of pure compounds is fixed. While, it
may be lower by the addition of any impurity like salt, vinegar etc. to it.
During the freezing of a solution, two forces are basically acting against each other.
The first force is the external pressure . This force exerted in the neighbouring
environment and this pushes down on to the surface of the solution. The second
force is called the vapour pressure and this is caused by the molecules in the solution
trying to push upwards (against the external pressure) and to evaporate (Ge et al.,
2008).
The condition where the freezing point of a liquid is lowered by the presence of an
additive called freezing point depression . This is observed in all solutions, and the
freezing point is determined by the amount of solute particles dissolved in the solvent
(Ge et al., 2009)
At the freezing point of that particular solution, the chemical potential of the solution
at liquid state and solid state will be equal. Solute particles are able to dissolve only

Nelson Mandela’s Fight for South African’s Justice
Many countries around the world have suffered for years to gain political rights and
freedom for all people. These countries did not have many resources to help people in
their poor conditions. One such country is South Africa, where many South Africans
were treated unfairly under apartheid, a law, made in 1950, to separate the African
minorities from the white population living in South Africa.1 The Whites banned
interracial and intersexual relations between Blacks and non Black people, and the
Black people owned only about 20% of the land.2 Black people were not given

The Africans, though, were not planning to back out that easily. For close to 40
years, the ANC was trying its best to settle African grievances, to give them
additional rights, besides just freedom. They had decided to protest against the
apartheid system through methods of peaceful demonstrations. Many people
fought, and went to jail, but there was not one mode of violence conducted at all in
these protests. 13 Mandela pointed out the shooting at Sharpeville in 1960, where
69 people were killed and 178 demonstrators were wounded. Mandela and his
colleague continued to fight, not listening to the government. Nelson believed in
the words of the Universal Declaration of Human rights, that the will of the people
shall be the basis of authority of the Government . 14 The people had rights to
choose what they wanted to do in their homeland, and no one was going to stop
them from claiming these rights. Mandela also described why he and his
organizers decided to choose sabotage as their method of violence instead of
guerilla warfare or open revolutions. 15 Sabotage was a way to show hope for
improving relations between races, and if people followed Mandela s thoughts, then
there might have been a possibility of a democracy in South Africa. Lastly, Mandela
pointed out that the White people
Sexism In The Jungle
The lives of people who immigrated to the United States in the early 1900s were
harder than they anticipated. In Upton Sinclair s novel The Jungle, class, racism, and
sexism shape the experiences and choices of the immigrants in many ways.
The Jungle was written in 1906 and the novel also takes place around that same time.
Class affects the immigrants extensively throughout the book. The family that The
Jungle focuses on is very poor and they do not have many opportunities because of it.
They are looked down upon by the business owners and the wealthier people that they
encounter. The family is not treated fairly and when they first come to the United
States, they are tricked into buying a house that they eventually lose because it cost

Ona and Marija are the characters most affected. Jurgis thinks of Ona as a fragile
thing that he must protect throughout the novel. He does not even want her to
work at first, until she is forced to in order for the rest of them to survive. Because
Jurgis is so defensive of Ona, she does not feel as though she can tell Jurgis when
she begins to be assaulted by Conner at work (126). She knows that if she tells
Jurgis, he will fight him and get in trouble and she will lose her job. She feels as
though she has to lie to him about where she is and what she is doing in order for
the rest of her family to be okay. Jurgis interprets the assault as more than just an
attack on his wife, but also a blow to his pride and his ability to take care of his
family. On the other hand, the female gender is explored in a very different way
with Marija. Marija is shown to have more in common with the men of the family
than with Elzbieta or Ona. She is a strong and hardworking woman and she even
gets a job that is meant for men at one point. Although her and Ona are so different,
they both still fall in love and get engaged (71), which is great because it does not
reinforce the idea that you can not be independent and also be in love. Marija s
relationship with her fiance, Tamoszius is different from the other relationships
portrayed in itself. Tamoszius is frail and petite while Marija is broad and strong,
which are qualities not usually attributed to women. Marija could have picked him
up and carried him off under one arm. While the oddity of this pairing is remarked
upon by the other characters, it does not make their relationship any less
Hammurabi Code Analysis
Hammurabi s Code: Was it just? Wait, don t chop off my hands, It wasn t my fault
. That was Hammurabi s code. Hammurabi lived a long time ago and he was the
first to come up with the first set of laws. He went to Shamash, the god of justice,
to have permission to use the laws. Hammurabi made these laws, even though they
were harsh, for a reason, to protect people and to bring justice. Here an example
about Hammurabi just in case you are confused: In Document E, it stated, If a
surgeon has operated with a bronze lancet on a free man for a serious injury, and
caused his death,... his hands shall be cut off. He caused the term, eye for an eye .
Hammurabi s code, was it just? Or, Hammurabi s code, was it fair (Fair means Just
and vice versa). I believe that hammurabi s code was fair because of family law,
property law, and personal injury law. That is why I believe his code was fair for
these reasons.
I believe that Hammurabi s code for personal injury (a fight or an argument) was
fair. I believe this for several reasons and I am going to tell you why. I also believe
it was fair because of his laws about personal injury Hammurabi made the laws for
when something happened, a reaction for when something happened. For example,
In Document E law 196 stated: If a man has knocked out the eye of a free man, his
eye shall be knocked out. That is fair to the free man because he got his eye
knocked out first. It is not fair to the other man because he lost an eye. It is fair to

Reporting and Interpreting Cost of Goods Sold and Inventory
ANSWERS TO QUESTIONS
1.Inventory often is one of the largest amounts listed under assets on the balance
sheet which means that it represents a significant amount of the resources available
to the business. The inventory may be excessive in amount, which is a needless waste
of resources; alternatively it may be too low, which may result in lost sales.
Therefore, for internal users inventory control is very important. On the income
statement, inventory exerts a direct impact on the amount of income. Therefore,
statement users are interested particularly in the amount of this effect and the way in
which inventory is measured. Because of its impact on both ... Show more content on

To illustrate, assume item A is stocked and three are on the shelf. One cost $100;
the second one cost $115; and the third cost $125. Now assume that one unit is
sold for $200. If it is assumed arbitrarily that the first unit is sold, the gross profit
will be $100; if the second unit is selected, the gross profit will be $85; or
alternatively, if the third unit is selected, the gross profit will be $75. Thus, the
amount of gross profit (and income) will vary significantly depending upon which
one of the three is selected arbitrarily from the shelf for this particular sale. This
assumes that all three items are identical in every respect except for their unit costs.
Of course, the selection of a different unit cost, in this case, also will influence the
ending inventory for the two remaining items.
8.LIFO and FIFO have opposite effects on the inventory amount reported under assets
on the balance sheet. The ending inventory is based upon either the oldest unit cost or
the newest unit cost, depending upon which method is used. Under FIFO, the ending
inventory is costed at the latest unit costs, and under LIFO, the ending inventory is
costed at the oldest unit costs. Therefore, when prices are rising, the ending inventory
reported on the balance sheet will be higher under FIFO than under LIFO.
Conversely, when prices are falling the ending inventory on the balance sheet will be
higher under LIFO than under FIFO.

Mrs Mallard Transformation
Of the Joy that Kills:
Transformations in Chopin s The Story of an Hour At the beginning of The Story
of an Hour by Kate Chopin, I can feel compassion for Mrs. Mallard, but by the end
of the story I did not think she was a sympathetic character at all. In the third
paragraph, Louise Mallard is told her husband has died and is overwhelmed with
grief. Most people have lost a loved one and probably sympathize with her. As the
story progresses, Mrs. Mallard more than comes to terms with the death of her
husband. She becomes excited for the years to come and glad that the rest of her
life will belong to her. She tells us her husband never looked at her except with
love for her and then admits she had often not loved him. At the end of the story
she dies when she realizes her husband is still alive. This is horrible. If she did not
love him and was happier when she thought he was dead, she should not have
married him. I do not think my views are influenced by being female, but my
opinions on marriage definitely influence my ... Show more content on

Mallard s rooms are very important to the story, The Story of an Hour. In the
beginning and end of the story when Mrs. Mallard is outside her room, you receive
little to no insight to Mrs. Mallard s thoughts and learn about the story mostly
through the eyes of the other characters. When she is inside her room, you learn
about what she is thinking. It shows that when Mrs. Mallard was around people
she cried and grieved, but when she was alone she did some thinking and realized
her husband s death had freed her from the horrible life she was living. Outside the
room might symbolize the reaction deemed appropriate by society while inside the
room represents her inner feelings. This helps the reader understand why Mrs.
Mallard dies when she sees her husband alive and well. It also makes her death more
jarring because it is told by Josephine s and Richard s actions instead of a direct
My Visit To The Chicago River
Chicago is one of the few cities around the world that incorporates nature to its rich
history of architecture fleets, which makes it a unique city. There are many
magnificent architectural styles around the city, but we mainly focused on the Art
Deco style. This trip truly incorporates a better understanding of how nature and Art
Decobuildings around the Chicagoland area tend to create a wonderful experience
for the public. On this trip, I visited the Chicago River, NBC Tower, The 333 N
Michigan Ave, and The Merchandise Mart The start of our trip we decided to visit
the Chicago River and learn about how it is an important asset to the city. We saw
numerous boats traveling and people walking by the river. It gave us a chance to
look at nature s beauty in the heart of the city. When walking by the river, it gave me
a soothing feeling from the busy city... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The building was built in 1930. The architects were Graham, Anderson, Probst, and
White. Merchandise Mart may not be a tower, but it still resembles an Art Deco
concept. I notice the building has vertical lines, multiple windows, and a rectangle
shape. In class we talked about how the building is unique in own way by having
multiple pyramids on the sides of building. We also talked about how artificial lights
can make the building bold during the night time such as highlighting the pyramid
tops. The building resembles the Art Deco concept, but it may be different with its
own unique way.
In conclusion, the second field trip helped me to better understand the different styles
of architecture structures around Chicago especially the Art Deco style. During the
trip, I understood why the Chicago River is important to the city because it might
have given inspiration to the architects. When looking back on this trip the different
architects from different time periods may have create a unique design by creating

When the gods and goddesses go bowling, everyone knows that they are very
upset, therefore they cry. These tears shed by the gods and goddesses up in the
heavens come together and give us rain. The rain can be light, slow, and steady.
This pattern shows that the gods and goddesses are just stressed. When the rain is
heavy and mad, the gods and goddesses are downright furious. These types of rains
could cause floods.
During the bowling adventure, the clatter of the bowling ball hitting the hardwood
floor then hitting the pins head on cause the rolls of thunder. When the thunder is soft
and mellow, it is most likely the goddesses that bowl lightly with grace. The
earsplitting rolls of thunder symbolize the gods that throw the ball fiercely without
aim. So when it thunders, there is no need to hide under the covers, the gods and
goddesses are just hanging out and having fun.
The many colors of lighting that are thrown across the sky symbolize the strikes
and spares that the gods and goddesses make. It is really that simple. The more
strikes and spares, the merrier the gods and goddesses are. Next time there is
lightning dancing across the sky; just know that there is a really exciting bowling
game taking place up in the heavens.
In closing, thunderstorms are really an act of the gods and goddesses. It is a way
they get rid of stress that we have caused. They would never want us to
Jesus Christ Research Paper
Over the course of history, the historical information regarding Jesus Christ has been
interpreted by many different individuals and has led to different beliefs and views
regarding the existence of Jesus Christ as a real man. Today I will be interpreting this
evidence and i will be attempting to answer the question Was JesusChrista real man? .
The evidence I will be looking at to answer this question will be information
regarding the context of Jesus Christ, the historical accounts of non Christian authors
as well as the evidence for the Bible which is the main source regarding the life of
Jesus Christ.
One of the main pieces of evidence used by historians when authenticating the life of
Jesus Christ is the information presented by various ... Show more content on

In the Bible there are 4 different so called eye witness accounts of the life of Jesus
Christ which are supposedly written by Matthew and John, two of Jesus disciples,
Luke, a journalist and historian while Jesus was alive and Mark was a teenage Jew
during the time that Jesus visited Jerusalem. Although many scholars do not agree
with some of the specific episodes described in these texts, it is still believed that
these documents present a fairly accurate portrayal of the life of Jesus Christ. One
of the reasons that have to believe this was the time when these texts were written
and how close this was to the death of Jesus Christ. It is generally believed that the
gospel of Luke was written in the year 60 AD, the gospel of Mark in the year 70
AD and the gospels of Matthew and John within the years 70 100 AD. This is so
significant because these books were all written within one generation of the life
and death of Jesus Christ and it shows that the people writing these texts were
really around to witness the events that they quoted in their texts. Another reason
that historians have to believe that these texts are accurate accounts of the life of
Jesus is the amount of copies of original manuscripts that still exist today. These
images on the screen are just some of the ancient original texts of the bible, all of
which were written before 300 AD and all of which still exist today. Although there
are no original documents of any of the books of the Bible, there are several original
copies by monks whose profession was to accurately copy texts so that they copies of
these texts could be distributed amongst many
A Study On A Possible Copper Mine Near Penryn, Cornwall
1.Introduction. The Mine the feasibility study focuses on a possible tungsten mine
near Penryn, Cornwall. The area has a history of mining, usually mining mineral
veins, most common ores are copper, tin, silver and tungsten. Tungsten has a
variety of uses, thanks to its strength and very high melting points, it used to be
used as wire in filament light bulbs, but now is most commonly used as a tungsten
steel alloy to provide strength and temperature resistance. The economic minerals
for tungsten, are Wolframite and Scheelite (Playfair Mining Ltd, 2011). 2.The

demonstrated in the model (Appendix A). A lot of the cost data is not fixed and
does have a % accuracy margin, which can be used to flex in the risk analysis done
later, for the basic model, the base numbers provided were used. On top of the
capital and operating costs there are royalties and taxes which must be removed in
the right place for them to apply correctly, e.g. the royalties are removed straight
from the direct revenue of the sale of material mine, whilst taxes take into account
allowable expense and are based on a taxable income. 2.2 Variable Data In the
calculation there must be included some data which fluctuates constantly, not just
flexible a certain percentage (OPEX), but constantly changes depending on micro
and macro economics and often a larger scale e.g. world consumption. In the data it

The History Of Delta Airlines
Andrew Trentmann Professor Weiland ASCI 602 19 November 2016 The History
of Delta Airlines Delta Airlines originally started in 1924 as, Huff Daland Dusters,
the first crop dusting company in existence (History, n.d.). To avoid the lulls of
winter, when no crop dusting was performed in the U.S., Huff Daland extended its
dusting services to Peru (Hoogerwerf, 2010). Peruvian Airways, a Pan Am
subsidiary, began flying both passenger and air mail contracts for Huff Daland in
its first entry into the passenger market (History, n.d. and Hoogerwerf, 2010). Due
to the unstable political environment in South America, this portion of the
company was sold, and the U.S. portion of Huff Daland Dusters was bought from
its parent company (Huff Daland Manufacturing Company) by a group of
investors with C.E. Woolman placed as the vice president and manager of
operations (History, n.d.). During this buyout from its parent company Huff
Daland Dusters became rebranded as Delta Air Service. (History, n.d.). With
Woolman running the company and going on to eventually become President and
CEO, Delta Air Service began its first passenger route in 1929 flying from Dallas
to Jackson (History, n.d.). In 1930 the inability to secure airmail contracts by being
excluded from the spoils conference caused Delta to temporarily stop passenger
service and fall back on agricultural spraying (History, n.d. and Hoogerwerf, 2010). In
1934 Delta Air Service, as a result of the Black Mckeller Act, received a
The Red Dot Of The Green Dot On The Street Map
After you have completed your part of the mission, call me and let me know, then
head back to the hotel and call it a night. Jim told him. I will then leave the Tower
and drive around a little, checking to see that the ReVoLT is working and making
sure they don t follow you. Jim smiled. Now I ll know where these two clowns are!
Then, with a light slap on Sam s back, Jim told him. Okay partner, let s Get er Done!
The two agents then got into their cars. Sam turned on his Agent Tracking
Software and saw the Green Dot on the street map that showed Jim s car s position
as he drove out of the parking garage. Setting the program to display the ReVoLT as
a Red Dot, Sam was ready to go. If only my wife could see me now. He thought to
himself. She would be so proud of me. After he thought a bit more, he told himself,
No. Actually she would be scared to death and try to talk me out of it! It s a good
thing she can t see me now!
Sam? His phone spoke.
I m here Jim! He told his partner.
I think I have a tail.
Already? Sam said. You re only three blocks away?
I just turned. Jim said. You see me?
Yes. Sam said. I have a good signal on your phone.
The Mercedes is tailing me. Our two clowns have taken the bait. I ll turn left here.
After a pause of about three seconds, Jim told Sam, They have also made the turn
and are following me! Jim told Sam. Charlie Mike, Over! Talk to you later.
Charlie Mike? Sam asked. Is that their names.

Stereotypes In Minority Report
Minority Report is an oddly misplaced mystery/action movie about a cop who is
accused of a future murder. Set in early 21st century Washington, DC, the police
have the ability to stop murders before they happen with the help of three psychics.
They use technology to enhance the visions of these psychics, referred to as pre
cognitives (or pre cogs ) to generate not only the name of the victim and perpetrator,
but also the evidence against them: hence the crimeof murder is reduced to a black
and white picture. Anytime the Pre cogs visions are in conflict a Minority Reportis
generated, yet it is also destroyed except for what the pre cog who predicted it
remembers deep within their mind.
John Anderton is the Chief of Police of PreCrime, a department of the police that
deals with murder and uses pre cogs. His son was kidnapped, driving him to
PreCrime, and preventing further loss of innocent life. His faith in the system is
rooted his loss, and up to his accusation, unfaltering. His faith begins to falter when
he discovers that there is missing data regarding some of the victims and
perpetrators. This leads him to question the system, which eventually leads those in
charge to arrange for his arrest for the future murder of Jim Crow. Convinced of ...

an alternative future for one forecasted to commit murder? What if you knew your
future was murder? With John we have a person who is committed to upholding
the law, and we should expect that he would not murder someone especially if he
had previous knowledge that he was to commit it. Yet by the end of the movie we
learn that there is no minority report for him. He is destined to kill Crow. His choice
is to arrest him for the kidnap and murder of his son, thereby restoring justice and

Break A Cultural Rule Of Coffee Shop
The assignment for this paper was to break a cultural rule that is followed by the
people in the United States. Rules serve to be the groundwork of a society and
what makes every society across the globe exclusive in their own way. The rule I
anticipated on breaching was, instead of sitting on the chairs and sofas I intended to
sit on the floor at coffeeshops, dressed in our best suits and ball gowns. My goal was
to test a simple yet barely broken cultural rule of coffee shop etiquettes.
My hypothesis was that we would get bizarre expressions along with a few
chuckles and even the occasional question of, What are you guys doing, do you need
a place to sit? I hypnotized that the common thing in both the responses would be
that both types of people, the people just gazing and the people inquiring about our
behavior care about the situation but one is a little bit more inquisitive than the other.
The ones staring might just frown at the rule breaking because they think it s
inappropriate or they didn t find the courage to come up to us and ask us about our
coffee shop etiquettes.
When I was walking to the coffee shop in my ball gown, I kept thinking about all the
things that people could be saying about me as well as the expressions I would get.
Then, I went for it, I got my coffee and sat on the floor! However, I felt a little
uncomfortable and self conscious due to the way people were looking at me. One
woman s comment made me particularly uncomfortable. She said, First
The Works Of Antonio Vivaldi
Throughout history, there have been many periods of time where music rose and
fell in favor of the masses. Music was part of life during the old age in many areas
such as religious services or entertainment among the elites. During the late 17th
century which was known as the Baroque period, many famous composers such as
Johann Pachelbel, George Frideric Handel, and Johann Sebastian Bach, Alessandro
Scarlatti, Henry Purcell, and many others that were successful in adapting to the
change of new music style. Among these famous composers, Antonio Vivaldi
stood
out for his unique style of music that innovated and revolutionized the Baroque
period. Antonio Vivaldi was born on March 4, 1678, in Venice, Italy. His father,
Giovanni Battista, was the son of a tailor. He passed away on July 28, 1741 in
Vienna. His father, Giovanni Battista, was born in 1655 in Brescia and moved to
Venice in 1666. Giovani married Camilla Calicchio in 1676. Together they had
nine children which Vivaldi was the oldest. Giovanni was a professional violinist
who worked full time at St. Marks (Green). Due to his father s work and influence
to music, Vivaldi got involved as part of his life. Vivaldi was ordained as a priest
though at an early age, then he chose to follow his passion for music (Antonio
Vivaldi). Though he did not live for very long, he was well known for many
fantastic work and composers looked up to him. Early in his life, Vivaldi learned
how to play violin from his father. Through his

1.One of the things I feel is an issue in the video is that the food bank is not receiving
enough from the community and the government. The bank has helped families for
many years such as the depression and recession. Although, they are not able to help
every family they help feed as many as they can. Food is very limited and the help
to feed these families are very limited. In Michigan, poverty is increasing day by day.
The food bank does receive many donations

  • 1. Conscription Essay Crafting an essay on the subject of conscription can be a challenging endeavor. The complexity arises from the multifaceted nature of the topic, which encompasses historical, political, ethical, and social dimensions. Navigating through the vast array of perspectives, arguments, and counterarguments requires a meticulous approach to research and analysis. Firstly, one must delve into the historical context of conscription, exploring its roots and evolution across different societies and time periods. Understanding the geopolitical factors that have influenced the implementation of conscription adds another layer of complexity. Moreover, the ethical considerations surrounding mandatory military service demand thoughtful reflection, as individuals may hold varying beliefs on the morality and necessity of conscription. Political implications further complicate the essay, as conscription policies often intertwine with broader national security strategies. Analyzing the impact of conscription on a nation's defense capabilities and its socio-political fabric necessitates a nuanced examination of historical case studies and contemporary examples. Furthermore, the social dynamics of conscription involve exploring its effects on communities, families, and the individuals compelled to serve. This requires an in-depth exploration of the psychological, economic, and sociological aspects of conscription, bringing to light the diverse consequences it can have on different segments of society. In conclusion, writing an essay on conscription demands a thorough understanding of historical events, political ideologies, ethical considerations, and social dynamics. The ability to synthesize information from various sources and present a coherent, well-supported argument is crucial. While challenging, such essays provide an opportunity to engage with complex issues and contribute to a deeper understanding of the subject matter. • 2. Rhetorical Analysis Of A Letter From Birmingham Jail Carole De La Fuente Kean ENG 121 141 Oct 24th, 2017 A Letter from Birmingham Jail Rhetorical Analysis A Letter from Birmingham Jail written by Martin Luther King Jr. was a defence strategy of nonviolent resistance to racism. The Birmingham campaign commenced on April 3rd of 1963, it was a march coordinated to protest against racism and racial segregation in Birmingham, Alabama. The campaign was entirely nonviolent and was coordinated by the Alabama Christian Movement for Human Rights including Dr. King s Southern Christian Leadership Conference. On April 10th, Judge Jenkins issued a blanket injunction going against parading, demonstrating, boycotting, and trespassing. Leaders of these two campaigns said they were going to disobey this rule they were given. A few days later on April 12th, Martin Luther King Jr. was arrested along with other activist leaders. Once Dr. King arrived to Birmingham jail, he was faced with difficult conditions. An ally of his sneaked in a newspaper that was published on April 12th. There was a statement written by eight clergymen called A Call for Unity, which went against what King and his campaign were implementing on the streets of Birmingham, Alabama. The statement enraged Dr. King to write a response. Dr. King used logos in the letter to help support his counter argument against the clergymen. In spite of my shattered dreams.. King wrote, ... I came to Birmingham with the hope that the religious leadership... Would see the justice. By stating this, he showed pathos. King put into words that through the process to end segregation, there was hardship along the way, and dreams were destroyed by other people s actions who did not display care towards the black community. The city of Birmingham pervaded with brutal police officers, unjust courts, and bombings of Negro homes that were unsolved. He is being knowledgeable, moral and reasonable. He is being reasonable when he says that there is injustice everywhere, not just the South. He is knowledgable when the clergymen told him he needs to wait and responds with that he has waited for about three hundred and forty years. He finally shows morality when Dr. King wrote ...so we must see the need for nonviolent gadflies to

Many of the pirates on the boat were very poor. The treasure was a motive for them throughout the whole book. The pirates and crew desired wealth and were extremely greedy. The theme of uselessness of wealth is one that constantly reappears throughout the whole book. Stevenson portraits this when the pirates constantly switch sides, betrayed each other, and do very violent and uncivil things just to get to the treasure. • 5. The Community Of The Lgbtq Community In the twenty four hours following the election, a surge in calls to suicide hotlines primarily from those belonging to the LGBTQ community. Trumps victory had caused thousands to suddenly fear their own futures in this country and questioned which of their rights they were going to lose in the next four years. This lead to many calling suicidehotlines for confirmation that life was worth living for and that their was always hope. Crisis lines dedicated to the LGBTQ community were specifically the ones that were most effected. The numbers of calls they were receiving were in the thousands, over doubling the average number of calls received and reaching unprecedented levels. An additional concern is that this may be causing a sudden influx trans suicides, potentially up to ten. However, none of these cases have as of yet been confirmed, so there is a possibility that no suicides in relation to the election have occurred. Transpeople within America have a particularly precarious state in this country and the election seems likely to remove their rights in the upcoming years. Regardless, the election has increased the anxieties of countless in this country. This recent development was quite important to me as someone who is part of the LGBTQ community. Although the election was seen as high stakes for both Democrats and Republicans, Trump s policies will most likely have a negative impact disproportionately on minorities, immigrants, and those who have marginalized

Ernest Hemingway corresponds to the Lost Generation of 1920 s and Jack Kerouac corresponds to the Beat Generation of 1950 s. Both of these generations were after wars. It is not coincidence, wars make people devastated and lost. People tried to overcome problems and pain through literature and music. Writers put all their emotions on the paper, musicians wrote songs, which described the hard time they had. These two generations produced the most talented writers of our days. This problem means that he could not have sex, he could not marry, and finally he could not have a normal family with children. All of these problems made him get drunk often, as alcohol helped him to forget about problems for a little time. Once, Robert Cohn asked him: Don t you ever get the feeling that all your life is going by and you re not taking advantage of it? Do you realize that you ve lived nearly half the time you have to live already? and he answers, Yes, every once in a while. (p.30). So, alcohol was an escape from his problems and he said: Under the wine I lost disgusted feeling and was happy (p.150). When he is drunk, life seems better and easier. But when he wakes up next morning, he regrets it, but he never tries to change his life, he just accepts it as it is. Hemingway presented Jake and Brett to portray people with lost believes and nothingness. Both of them accepted their lives as it was and did not try to change anything. Hemingway is not optimistic about the future, for him and his characters the meaning of life is lost. Similarly to Hemingway, Kerouac shows readers how people wanted to escape reality, as to forget about war young people traveled across the country in order to find the lost meaning of the life and have fun. The College Level Writing Course At the beginning of the class this year, I didn t expect o to well right off the bat of the college level writing course because I had always struggled with English in middle school through high school. To my surprise though, I have learned many things this semester and have already used some of these skills in other papers in other classes I had. Thanks to the help of Sue Oakes, I can now say proudly that I can actually write a decent paperand feel rather confident about it. Starting off the year in the English class, I had already messed up the first task. I had forgotten to the to sample writingso that she could see how our witting skills were and would try to see what type of work she will have to put into us to make us capable to write a college ready paper. So to start the semester off I had already one late assignment and thought to myself great she thinks I will be a slacker because I already didn t turn in something . Going more I n depth into the first unit, we had to write a story about ourselves but it had to be a family myth. At the time I was very perplexed because I had never heard of a family myth before so I had no idea what to write about; so I ended up writing about those dang cigars. The step by step process really helped me out in writing papers which I still use for papers now. When I had come to the completion of the paper, I was very satisfied with the work I had accomplished. This paper was going to be the easy paper though, but I didn t
  • 11. The Teaching Of Art As Social Revolution Summary When there is an argument, there is always a counter argument. Is it morally right for graphic designers to design something so persuading? In The Teaching of Art as Social Revolution by Vincent Lanier,he argues that it is morally right for graphic designers to design anything. To begin with this, it is important to know that fine arts and popular arts like photography, motion pictures, graphic designin advertising, fashion design are the same and serve the same purpose to the community which is to reflect on the community nowadays, like war, sex, race, drugs, poverty to the design and the art in social matter and the human development in changing its behaviour, as art is useless without its reflect on the society. Thus the reason why art in education should serve as a social revolution. When art does not follow the social revolution, it simply does not live to serve its purpose or obligations to the society. It is important to know however that art does not teach people on how to behave in a society but merely to develop new ways of making our society operative and equitable. It does not mean that art that reflects on our lives is better than those that are not, it s simply saying that art could have also dealt with some that already deal with social problems. It is very important to know that ...arts are not merely the celebrations of values to which we are already committed...it nevertheless is a great instrument for the achievement of whatever values we do

The South consists of Maryland, Virginia, North and South Carolina, and Georgia. They all differ when it comes to economic, social and political factors. However, because they couldn t go the agricultural way, they relied on the middle and southern colonies to provide their food. Their rapid growth led to towns and schools. There were many advancements in the 20th century in trying to get people who suffer from a disability the proper help they need. During the 1960s, President Kennedy called for the deinstitutionalization of people with disabilities and increase in community services (DisabilityRights, 2012, p.6). President Kennedy wanted the community to come together to help assist people with a disability specifically mental retardation. Due to numerous laws enacted by the government, in today s society the community gets involved in assisting people of all different types of disabilities. One of the ways they do this is through a special service dance. On September 27, 2014 in Tenafly at the Jewish Community Center, I attended the special service dance that is available for all different types of disabilities. This dance has a mix of high functioning and low functioning people with disabilities, from the ages of fourteen to twenty five. I choose to do the dance because many of the topics were covered in class were displayed at the dance. In the daily time, western people have a meticulous plan about their time and they have a good habit of coming to date on time. In western countries, if you want to call on someone, you must inform them or date with them before you come and you should tell them your coming purpose, the time and the place. After both of you discuss about it, you can make it out. But, Chinese people use their time at their pleasure. Usually, Chinese people will not do things as the western people, and western people usually feel unsuitable on this course. Most western people spend their time in working and studying, they seldom spend a lot time in eating or doing something else. But Chinese people spend much time on other things. For example, when western people come to KFC to have a meal, they eat their food as soon as possible, but, the Chinese people in KFC show another situation. They eat their food slowly and chat with each other. They do not think this is a way to waste time. C. The conflicts on traditional cultures Chinese people pay special attention to modesty. (2 pages) Sigmund Freud s primary version of psychoanalytical theory presented in the late 19th century is one that has withstood the tests of time; with just a few exceptions. Freud s psychoanalytical theory which is comprised of many of Freud s very unique and great theories like the tripartite mind, psychosexual developmental stages, and defense mechanisms gave insight into the inner workings of the mind that until then had not yet been discovered nor explored. After all, psychoanalysis centers on exposing the human unconscious by viewing human behavior through a deterministic lens, meaning that the mind is governed by the unconscious, instinctual drives, and other forces. Some of his theories such as his concept on the existence and meaning of psychosexual developmental stages fall under being deterministic; this is because Freud was a strong believer in psychic determinism, which is a type of determinism that theorizes that all mental processes are determined by the unconscious or preexisting mental complexes. There lies one of Freud s greatest weaknesses in my opinion, as over time the popularity for determinism has shifted to humanism,

When Pi is trapped on a lifeboat, his only company is a Bengal Tiger. It was in this circumstance that Pi understood the animal need for survival. Pi says of his transformation from a strict vegetarian into someone who expected to kill to survive, that, I descended to a level of savagery I never imagined possible. (218). Everyday, Pi felt like he was at a crucial point in his life, since he didn t know whether he would live to see tomorrow, especially with Richard Parker on the lifeboat. This is when Pi s animal instincts kicked in and mirrored that of the tiger s. The animal inside of him, and his survival instincts ended up plainly evident in his battle for survival. In the poem The Tyger, the animal theme is exhibited through the narrator s relentless questions of the tiger. In the poem it says, What immortal hand or eye, Dare frame thy fearful symmetry? (23 24). This happens to be the narrator s way of asking who would dare to create an animal so vicious and dangerous. Throughout the poem, the speaker asks various questions about the ferocity of the creature. Be that as it may, this is the nature of a tiger. They are wild animals that are dangerous, and act on instinct. In the two stories, the animal theme depicted conflicts with civilization. Pi was forced to abandon his knowledge and behaviour from the civilized life he once led, in order to embrace his animal instincts and survive. In The Tyger , we can see the contempt of the speaker while considering the behaviours of the wild animal. By looking at this similar element from the two stories, it is easier to perceive how the two cases may be seen. Pi could be looked upon like the tiger, in that they were similar in their animal ways. Many individuals would not have the strength to do what Pi

Expanding Child Participation in Prevention and Elimination of Child labor through Peer Education and Child Labor Monitoring (A Concept Paper) I.RATIONALE: A.BACKGROUND A survey conducted by the National Statistics Office (NSO) and international labor Organization (ILO) in 2011 estimated working children, 5 to 17 years old at 5.5 million. 3 million or 54.5 % were engaged in hazardous child labour. Under the law, child labor is defined as any form of work or economic activity performed by a child that subjects him/ her to exploitation, is harmful to health and safety, physical and mental or psychosocial development. The top three industries are agriculture, hunting, forestry, wholesale and retail, and private households. Over 60% are in agriculture while 30% are in the service sector. Families and children often times refuse to see the risks of dangerous occupation to children. They believe that it is necessary to be able to help in addressing the needs of the family. Regardless of the danger they face, children are forced into labour due to poverty and lack of available resources and services for their needs. School represent the most important means of drawing children away from labour. However, despite policy for free education, children do not attend school due to costs of books, projects, school supplies, meals and transportation and possible lost earnings. On January 2013, The Department of Labor and Employment, introduced the roll out of a convergence

Biden planned his five day visit to meet with Prime Minister Enda Kenny to discuss Irish American relations, and to address the Irish people about the value of global inclusiveness. Throughout his speech, Biden uses different rhetorical strategies that aim to unify the Irish and American people. Biden s arrival to Ireland occurs at a time when immigration is heavily debated, and right before the world s largest pride parade in Dublin. Strategically, his words express the similarities between Ireland and America, by connecting the two nations on one shared value of equality. Biden uses equality as the foundation of a shared sense of resilience that is evidenced in Irish and American past, present, and future. Biden argues that both Ireland and America hold the same values at heart when comparing the Declaration of Independence and the 1916 Proclamation. He states that the phrase We hold these truths to be self evident that all men are created equal , and the 1916 Proclamation s, all of the children of the nation equally , are notions founded in equal rights, equal opportunity, and religious and civil liberties for everyone. Biden mentions that these terms are grounded, and are not empty words on a page. He is trying to explain the depth of their meaning by noting that they are the foundation of any political or social organization that aims to
  • 32. Compare And Contrast Bowlby And Maslow Applying two theoretical approaches I would apply Bowlby (attachment) and Maslow (humanistic). John Bowlby was a psychoanalyst and believed that mental health and behavioural problems could be linked to early childhood. Bowlby suggested that a child would initially form only one primary attachment (monotropy) and that the attachment figure acted as a secure base for exploring the world. The attachment relationship acts as a model for all future social relationships so disrupting it can have severe consequences. This theory also suggests that there is a significant phase for developing an attachment (about 0 5 years). If an attachment has not developed throughout this period then the child will experience from irreversible developmental consequences, such as lack of intelligence and enhanced aggression. Bowlby also explains in his theory Deprivation and Privation. Deprivation means the temporary prolonged and permanent separation of a child from its attachment figure. Privation is where no attachment figure has been formed. Bowlby identified a number of possible short and long term effects of maternal deprivation and these are detailed in the table below: This may explain Anna s inability to form solid relationships with others. Background To begin the discussion on the language and speech coordination within the brain and the research conducted within the research, I will first differentiated between aphasia and apraxia as the two are often confused due their overlapping nature. The language organ of the brain has been traditionally known as Wernecki s area, Broca s area, and the perisylvian strip (Kean). When any or several of these regions are damaged, the following disorder in language is known as aphasia. Aphasia can involve varying levels of difficulty involved in understanding and producing speech. In the past, apraxia has often been understood as a part of aphasia however the two have been found to be distinct language disorders. Language disorders are caused by damage to the brain which can be a result of a stroke, tumor, trauma, or other neurological diseases such as Alzhiemers. Stokes are the major cause language disorder such as aphasia. During a stroke there is a rupture or a blocking of

  • 37. How Does Temperature Affect Freezing Point Topic: Does adding different substances to water effect the freezing rate? Objectives: The main objective of the experiment was to find the freezing rate of water when different substances were added. The state of changing liquid to solid is called freezing point. Introduction: When temperature decreases, liquid changes into solid called freezing. The temperature at which the solid liquid change takes place depends on the purity of the substance. Melting and freezing temperature of pure compounds is fixed. While, it may be lower by the addition of any impurity like salt, vinegar etc. to it. During the freezing of a solution, two forces are basically acting against each other. The first force is the external pressure . This force exerted in the neighbouring environment and this pushes down on to the surface of the solution. The second force is called the vapour pressure and this is caused by the molecules in the solution trying to push upwards (against the external pressure) and to evaporate (Ge et al., 2008). The condition where the freezing point of a liquid is lowered by the presence of an additive called freezing point depression . This is observed in all solutions, and the freezing point is determined by the amount of solute particles dissolved in the solvent (Ge et al., 2009) At the freezing point of that particular solution, the chemical potential of the solution at liquid state and solid state will be equal. Solute particles are able to dissolve only in a

Jurgis interprets the assault as more than just an attack on his wife, but also a blow to his pride and his ability to take care of his family. On the other hand, the female gender is explored in a very different way with Marija. Marija is shown to have more in common with the men of the family than with Elzbieta or Ona. She is a strong and hardworking woman and she even gets a job that is meant for men at one point. Although her and Ona are so different, they both still fall in love and get engaged (71), which is great because it does not reinforce the idea that you can not be independent and also be in love. Hammurabi made these laws, even though they were harsh, for a reason, to protect people and to bring justice. Here an example about Hammurabi just in case you are confused: In Document E, it stated, If a surgeon has operated with a bronze lancet on a free man for a serious injury, and caused his death,... his hands shall be cut off. Now assume that one unit is sold for $200. If it is assumed arbitrarily that the first unit is sold, the gross profit will be $100; if the second unit is selected, the gross profit will be $85; or alternatively, if the third unit is selected, the gross profit will be $75. Thus, the amount of gross profit (and income) will vary significantly depending upon which one of the three is selected arbitrarily from the shelf for this particular sale. This assumes that all three items are identical in every respect except for their unit costs. Of course, the selection of a different unit cost, in this case, also will influence the ending inventory for the two remaining items. 8.LIFO and FIFO have opposite effects on the inventory amount reported under assets on the balance sheet. The ending inventory is based upon either the oldest unit cost or the newest unit cost, depending upon which method is used. Under FIFO, the ending inventory is costed at the latest unit costs, and under LIFO, the ending inventory is costed at the oldest unit costs. Therefore, when prices are rising, the ending inventory reported on the balance sheet will be higher under FIFO than under LIFO. Conversely, when prices are falling the ending inventory on the balance sheet will be higher under LIFO than under FIFO. 9.LIFO

Although many scholars do not agree with some of the specific episodes described in these texts, it is still believed that these documents present a fairly accurate portrayal of the life of Jesus Christ. One of the reasons that have to believe this was the time when these texts were written and how close this was to the death of Jesus Christ. It is generally believed that the gospel of Luke was written in the year 60 AD, the gospel of Mark in the year 70 AD and the gospels of Matthew and John within the years 70 100 AD. • 50. Stereotypes In Minority Report Minority Report is an oddly misplaced mystery/action movie about a cop who is accused of a future murder. Set in early 21st century Washington, DC, the police have the ability to stop murders before they happen with the help of three psychics. They use technology to enhance the visions of these psychics, referred to as pre cognitives (or pre cogs ) to generate not only the name of the victim and perpetrator, but also the evidence against them: hence the crimeof murder is reduced to a black and white picture. Anytime the Pre cogs visions are in conflict a Minority Reportis generated, yet it is also destroyed except for what the pre cog who predicted it remembers deep within their mind. John Anderton is the Chief of Police of PreCrime, a department of the police that deals with murder and uses pre cogs. His choice is to arrest him for the kidnap and murder of his son, thereby restoring justice and creating his own
  • 51. Break A Cultural Rule Of Coffee Shop The assignment for this paper was to break a cultural rule that is followed by the people in the United States. Rules serve to be the groundwork of a society and what makes every society across the globe exclusive in their own way. The rule I anticipated on breaching was, instead of sitting on the chairs and sofas I intended to sit on the floor at coffeeshops, dressed in our best suits and ball gowns. My goal was to test a simple yet barely broken cultural rule of coffee shop etiquettes. My hypothesis was that we would get bizarre expressions along with a few chuckles and even the occasional question of, What are you guys doing, do you need a place to sit? I hypnotized that the common thing in both the responses would be that both types of people, the people just gazing and the people inquiring about our behavior care about the situation but one is a little bit more inquisitive than the other. The ones staring might just frown at the rule breaking because they think it s inappropriate or they didn t find the courage to come up to us and ask us about our coffee shop etiquettes. When I was walking to the coffee shop in my ball gown, I kept thinking about all the things that people could be saying about me as well as the expressions I would get. Then, I went for it, I got my coffee and sat on the floor! However, I felt a little uncomfortable and self conscious due to the way people were looking at me. One woman s comment made me particularly uncomfortable. She said, First

Food banks usage increased the level of food safety issues as there are number of issues registered as follows, Currie (2014): 1.One of the things I feel is an issue in the video is that the food bank is not receiving enough from the community and the government. The bank has helped families for many years such as the depression and recession. Although, they are not able to help every family they help feed as many as they can. Food is very limited and the help to feed these families are very limited. In Michigan, poverty is increasing day by day. The food bank does receive many donations
