3. BASIC INFORMATION
• Is a large rectangular brick used in construction.
• Portland cement and aggregates, usually sand and fine gravel for high
density blocks.
• Size 12*8*4 inch

4. COMMON PART

5. DESCRIPTION
• Have one or more hollow-core.
• In general , a hollow-core concrete block is more then 50% solid.
• Standarad hollow concrete blocks come full and half sizes.
• Full size blocks are rectangular and have two cores.
• Half size blocks are cubical and have one core.

6. RAW MATERIALS REQUIRED
• Cement, sand, gravels ,water

7. PRODUCTION PROCESSES
• Raw material mixing
• Brick/block molding
• Vibrating and compacting
• Curing / drying
• Brick/ block packing

8. MANUFACTURING PROCESS
• Cement concrete block are- solid or hollow.
• The block sizes are – 12*8*4 ; 12*8*3 ; 12*8*6 etc
• Cement, stone chips, sand etc are mixed in the ratio of 1:6 or 1:12.
• Vibrate the mixture and then poured into the desired size mould.
• After 24 hours of drying the blocks are put in water tank for curing.
• Curing time two to three weeks to give the blocks compression
strength.

9. CONSTRUCTIONAL ADVANTAGES
• No additional formwork or any special construction machinery is
required for reinforcing the hollow block masonry.
• Only semi-skilled labour is required for this type of construction.
• It is a faster and easier construction system, when compared to the
other conventional construction systems.
• Low maintenance.
• Fire resistant.
• Provide thermal and sound insulation.

ADVANTAGES
• This construction system provides better acoustic and thermal
insulation for the building.
• This system is durable and maintenance free.
• Reduction in Dead Load
• No salt peter or leaching: - Reduction in maintenance.
• Faster construction: - Easy to work with bigger in size.
• Assured Quality: - Fully automatic block plant.
• Load bearing walls: - Due to higher strength of blocks.
• Recommended for earth quake resistance.
• Less water absorption:- Approx. 3 to 4%
