Concept Gym
Based upon the previously cited research, we were able to develop an appropriate concept for our health club. Since the health club is targeted towards gen y, the look of the club will be fairly modern. As previously cited, it has been shown that gen y does value hard work. However, they also value efficiency in their work. That being said, personal training will be a very prominent service offered at the health club. The service provided by personal training fits this description perfectly. It is very hard work, but will result in more efficient results for the trainee. Our programs are very attractive and would be affordable to consumers.
The 15,000-square-foot club would offer about 50 virtual classes. Clients can take a private class or work out with others in a room containing a 130-inch screen with high-definition surround-sound projection. If your favorites are abdominals, hip-hop, yoga, or kickboxing, these classes will eventually plan to try to challenge the more eager trainee. Virtual classes also include yoga sculpt, 1970s dance, step madness, muscles, sports drills, and boot camp.
Our Concept Gym would be owned by a personal trainer with business experience. Or a well-qualified, well-educated and motivated individual that loves the fitness portion of the business. Being a concept gym, we will tend to be the location that tries out all new equipment. If it works out well here, we bring it to our other locations. The basic membership would be about $10 per month, (less than gold’s gym, or YMCA memberships).
The gym also has spinners, so members wearing headphones, can do routines with a virtual instructor, or choose from virtual scenic routes, such as a Milwaukee River Walk, a Capitol Tour or a Wisconsin Lakefront. The scenery keeps you motivated while making you feel like you're somewhere else. You want to go faster and see what's next.
The gym would be open here in Oregon, Wisconsin six days a week. All the equipment would be brand new, and affluent to any person wanting to use it. Also our gym would be open at 7 a.m. on Sundays. Most gyms do not open until 9 on Sundays, that’s where we would differentiate that factor as well.
We would open by having an open house where anyone is welcome to try out the gym for the day, as well as take advantage of a 50 percent discount on the membership enrollment fee.
This concept and location is a major target for the Gen Y public. So in saying that, “If you build, they will come.”
