2 HOURS DIPLOMA STUDENTS TAKING COMPUTER APPLICATION MODULE The Diploma students taking Computer Application Module will be able to identify and differentiate four components of a computer; input, process, output and storage device correctly. Computer Applications
STRATERGIES Duration Stratergies Descriptions 8:00- 8:10 AM (10 minutes) Brainstorming 1) Start with a question: Ask the students if they know what is the four main components of a computer ? 8:10-8:20 AM (10 minutes) Brainstorming 2) Show a picture of a computer and ask them to identify input, output, process and storage device. Ask them to keep their answers. 8:20-8:30 AM (10 minutes) Story - telling 3) Then, show them a video about the toaster. After that show a screen side by side a picture of a toaster and a computer with physical parts and relate the relation between the process of the computer and the toaster. 8:30-9:10 AM (40 minutes) Lecture 4) Give lecture on the definition of the four components of a computer and the devices related. 9:10-9:30 AM (20 minutes) Discussion 5) Ask them to sit in groups, discuss their answers in (2). 9:30-9:45 AM (15 minutes) Think – Pair - Share 6) Then, ask each group to present their findings, correct them if they are wrong in their findings. 9:45-10:00AM (15 minutes) Problem Solving 7) Reinforcement: TASK 1: Give them pictures of computer hardware and ask them to identify what roles it plays in computer processing. TASK 2: MCQ

The Toaster The Computer
FOUR COMPONENTS OF COMPUTER 4 Components of Computer The four primary components of a computer system are: Processing Output Input Secondary Storage
Input devices send data and instructions to the central processing unit. Input Device
Central processing unit executes computer instructions. Memory holds data and programs temporarily. Output Device
Output devices make processed data available to the user. The electronic component that interprets and carries out the basic instructions that operate the computer Also called a Central Processing Unit (CPU) Process
Secondary storage devices store data and programs permanently. Holds data, instructions, and information for future use Storage Device
TASK SHEET 1 Based on your knowledge identify what roles does each computer hardware plays in computer processing and explain your answer.
TASK SHEET 2 HOW SMART ARE YOU?
