Outdated Themes Into The Mosaic Of The Romantic Period
Castles, Lords, and merry singing, how does Mary Robinson fit these seeming outdated themes into
the mosaic of the Romantic Period? The Poor Singing Dame is about an impoverished old woman
who lives a cheerful existence through singing despite the fact that many would consider her
circumstances miserable. A Lord of the nearby castle becomes overwhelmed with jealousy of the
woman s happiness and locks her in prison where she dies. He is haunted by his actions and soon dies
subsequently. Mary Robinson is an interesting addition to the list of prominent Romantic Period
writers. The structure of The Poor Singing Dame is interesting to compare to the structures that her
contemporaries use, yet she includes many of the popular themes of the time as well. The fantastic
rumors of Lord Byron s life cannot match the sensational reality of Mary Robinson s. Along with her
successful writing, she was an actress, fashion icon, and mistress of the Prince of Wales. Compared to
her contemporaries, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The shape of the stanzas and the rhyming pattern may vaguely resemble the famous cantos of Lord
Byron. Those works of literature were modeled after classic Italian pieces. Although The Poor Singing
Dame honors the classics, critics have said Mary Robinson s writing possesses the new realism that
will impel English poetry into the nineteenth century (Norton 78). In The Poor Singing Dame, Mary
Robinson s voice seems negated from the narrative and in that sense bears resemblance John Keats.
However the singing old woman s happiness being ruined by a tyrannical Lord may be Mary
Robinson expressing some of her feelings after being deserted by the Prince of Wales. It is harder to
make a connection between John Keats life and some of his work, Lamia for example. Mary Robinson
s voice does not play an outstanding role in The Poor Singing Dame, because her themes take center

Media Coverage Of Crime Statistics
Crime statistics are been used by individuals, groups in society and government as a source of
information about the nature and extent of crime, locally and nationally. Crime statistics and media
coverage of statistics is used by government as a basis and justification for their criminal justice
policies in order to respond to crime effectively. A good example of this is the drug classification
policy in England and Wales whereby changing media coverage of incidents of the usage of cannabis
influenced the government to move the drug from class B to C in 2004, and back to class B in 2009.
Crime statistics helped the public to know how much crime, and which particular type of crime are in
a particular area. For example, how much crime is in

How Did Peter The Great Modernize Russia
Peter the Great was a monarch of Russia during the Age of Absolutism. Peter I ruled from 1682 to
1725. He was known as Peter the Great because he was one of Russia s greatest reformers and for
increasing the czar s power. Peter also got credit for getting Russia out of the medieval times. During
his ruling he had to deal with the great northern war. Peter accomplished many things like reforming
most of russia and fighting wars. Peter forced people to take on positions in the military and
government to maintain land and strong government. Every Monarch and country faced their own
problems and wars. While other countries were entering the ages of development and new and
reformed cultures Russia was still stuck in the medieval age. He pulled russia out of the medieval
stage by centralizing government, forcing reformation and making armies. He had made a domestic
policy that allowed him to get rid of foreign policies which was helpful when trying to modernize and

The Use Of Dashes In William Stafford s Traveling Through...
As humans, we are often faced with tough decisions throughout life. The way in which we make those
decisions are often painful and excruciating. William Stafford portrays this through his gloomy free
verse poem Traveling Through the Dark. Throughout the poem, Stafford use of dashes give us insight
into the mind of the driver and the relationship of life and death. The form and use of dashes allows
the reader to explore their minds and analyze what they would do in the driver s situation. Stafford
uses form and his placement of dashes to convey the theme: the toughest decisions are often the most
agonizing and challenging. Traveling Through the Dark is an free verse poem containing four line
stanzas and a couplet to end the poem. The way the poem is structured leaves us with a sense of
incompletion, as the last couplet does follow the pattern of a four line stanza. Throughout the poem,
the lines feel very connected and smooth, however, near the end in the final couplet, it feels
incomplete. This sense of incompletion represents the death of the deer as the driver pushed her over
the edge into the river (line 18). The poem is connected through ... Show more content on

On lines 8 and 9, when Stafford wrote my fingers touching her side brought me to the reason her side
was warm; her fawn laying there waiting, alive, still, never to be born in a warm, gentle way. This
sense of warmth and gentleness represents the life of the fawn. Stafford captivates the audience by
showing how a decision can go from being easy to extremely difficult. When the driver first sits eyes
upon the deer, his first reaction is to roll them into the canyon (line 3). Stafford s use of language with
the dashes portrays the readers thoughts. When the language is gentle and warm, this represents a
simple and easy decision, however, when the language is more harsh and gloomy, this represents the
inner struggle ongoing in the drives

The Impact Of Cloud Computing And Virtualization
Abstract The excessive demand of pay per usage Cloud Computing model, considerably raise the need
to balance the load in datacenter. Load balancing guarantees the availability of services without
degrading the performance to users. Downtime observed by users is a big issue which leads to
violation of quality of services (QoS) and requirements for users in time. Solution to this problem lies
in improvement of response time.
In this paper, we propose an approach which reduces the time required to balance the load in the
datacenter and also satisfying the service response time to users. By concentrating on virtualization
technology here we are considering both virtual machine allocation and migration processes to
achieve a enhanced load ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
From the CSP view point, demanded services should be serve in time and the manner of allocation of
resources must be fair. From customer view point demanded services should meet its QoS
requirements and must satisfy their needs. Form energy saving view point, cloud carrier which
provides access via network, should use available bandwidth efficiently.
So, it s a vital issue to meet all these specified constraints and resources should be utilized efficiently,
so that profit for the CSP(s) can be maximized and cost for the consumers can be minimized.
This efficiency can be achieved by Virtualization. [1][2][3] By virtualize, we mean that a single
physical resource can be exposed as multiple virtual resources or multiple physical resources can be
exposed as a single virtual resource. Resource can be anything like server, an OS, an application, or a
storage device. The main aim of virtualization is to efficiently utilize the limited IT resources by
making use of many idle resources. [4]
When a user want to use the services provided by cloud, its request is placed in the form of virtual
machines in datacenter on currently active physical machine fulfilling the requirements specified by

The Oppression Of Motherhood
When will you have a child? is a question often heard by women nearing a certain age, or upon
achieving certain milestones in her life (such as marriage or after her 30th birthday). While it may be
true that women are indeed the only ones with the ability to bear children, having a child is portrayed
as a woman s right of passage. Individuals frequently overstep boundaries of privacy and inquire
insensitively about a woman s personal plan for children, and the male glorifying society is to be
blamed for this prying and expectation. Due to the fact that motherhood in general is largely linked to
women s subordination to men, voluntary alternate decisions are subject to public criticism for
violating the dominant norm. However, what if a woman truly has no desire to become a mother? Is it
really something that every woman should aspire to? Why are women who opt not to procreate
stigmatized in the first place? Is motherhood really as rewarding as portrayed to be? It is vital to note
that is essay is not intended to degrade or discredit motherhood, as it is truly an extremely imperative,

The Role Of Cybersecurity Products And Services
Cybersecurity is becoming one of the fastest growing industries ever, due in large part because of the
internet. We expect worldwide spending on cybersecurity products and services to eclipse $1 trillion
for the five year period from 2017 to 2021 (Morgan, 2015). So just why is the internet the reason
behind the sudden growth of cybersecurity products and services? The internet is the structure of
interconnected computing appliances and digital machines that are provided with unique identifiers,
such as a Uniform Resource Identifier (URI), Uniform Resource Locator (URL), Universal Unique
Identifier (UUID), Bank Identifier Code (BIC), Service Set Identifier (SSID), National Provider
Identifier (NPI), etc. These are just a few devices and unique identifiers that are utilized daily by the
average individual worldwide that revolve around the ability to transfer data over the internet/network.
The cybersecurity industry exists for the simple purpose of safeguarding the biggest companies down
to a single individual that are wanting to protect vital information or data from cyber attacks. This
industry has benefitted the consumer wanting security from hackers and furthermore the workforce
who are considering careers in this background. Cyber security has delivered personnel with
employment in the security analytics, threat intelligence, mobile security, and even cloud security to

Explain The Essence Of Homeostasis
1. Explain the essence of homeostasis. Why is it crucial for the bodily systems to maintain
homeostasis? Homeostasis is the property of a system where the variable which could be a substance
or temperature, is active and regulated to always remain constant. This regulation occurs inside a
defined environment. A primary example is a humans body temperature. It is crucial for the bodily
systems to maintain homeostasis because that is how cells and organs function properly. A primary
example is when people die from extreme conditions, such as, freezing to death or dying from over
heating. The body has to keep up to keep everything at equilibrium. 2. Why one of the risks of

Super low blood sugar is the most common cause of a diabetic coma. Diabetic ketoacidosis is when
your body uses fat instead of glucose for energy as a result of insufficient insulin. Ketone bodies
accumulate in the bloodstream and diabetic ketoacidosis occurs in both types of diabetes but mostly
common in Type 1. So it s best to not have an accumulation of ketone bodies to avoid a diabetic coma.
In type 2 diabetes there is diabetic hyperosmolar syndrome. This type of diabetes is most common
with older adults. The result of this condition is having increased levels of blood sugar. 3. Describe
these hormone actions of all calcium level regulating hormones as physiological reflex pathways,
identifying the stimulus, integrating center, efferent pathway, and response. The parathyroid hormone
(PTH), secreted by the parathyroid glands, is responsible for regulating blood calcium levels; it is
released whenever blood calcium levels are low. PTH increases blood calcium levels by stimulating
osteoclasts, which break down bone to release calcium into the blood stream. PTH increases blood
calcium levels by increasing the amount of calcium resorbed by the kidneys before it can be excreted
in the urine. PTH increases blood calcium levels by triggering the formation of calcitriol, which
increases absorption of dietary calcium through the intestines. Calcitonin, a hormone produced by the
thyroid, acts in

Korea Research Paper
Their primary goal was to once for all rid the Korean leadership from their dependency and influences
forced upon them by China and Russia. Once they took control of the peninsula they intended to use it
as a buffer against Russian, Chinese, and other Western influences.
In 1894, a rebellion broke out in Korea. The Chinese government sent 2,000 troops to Seoul. Japan
immediately occupied Pusan and Chemulpo Bay (Incheon) in Korea. China quickly gained control of
the uprising and asked Japan to withdraw their troops from the peninsula with the understanding that
they would do the same. The Qing s request met with resistance in Tokyo. Japanese leadership
expressed concerns over Korea s weaknesses and they worried that other Western nations, especially
Russia, would attempt to gain access to Korea. Japan asked the Qing leadership to institute specific
reforms in Korea. The reforms mirrored the Japanese Meiji styled government. China refused to

The midterm elections of 2014 brought a measly 36.3 percent of all eligible American voters to the
polls. A low of this proportion has not been exceeded since the federal election of 1942, which had a
turnout rate of 33.9 percent. Since 1942, voter accessibility has improved and we no longer find
ourselves amidst World War II (NY Times). Midterm elections generally have lower turnout rates,
however, 2014 is no outlier, with voter turnout in the United States having steadily decreased over
recent decades. The 2012 election only brought 53.6 percent of eligible voters to the polls. When

Rarely successful in electoral victory, nonetheless, many accomplished their goals by serving as
protest statements and rallying points and by making an influence (Schneider 1200). Minor parties
have majorly influenced political and social changes. Abolition, child labor laws, prohibition, women
s suffrage, direct election of senate members and the minimum wage all have their origins in third
party movements (Cramm, Ness XIX). Many of these ideas were left unconsidered or unfavored by
either of the major parties and had it not been for the influence of third parties, who is to say what our
country would be today. Professor Frances Fox Piven writes Third parties can breathe life into
American politics, stirring the political enthusiasm of groups that are ordinarily marginalized and
ignored, and reinvigorating belief in democracy with bold proposals for reforms and they are the
agencies that bring to life the deep reciprocity and interdependence between voters and the state on
which the democratic idea rests. (as cited in Ness, XIII) This calls to mind the intended purpose of

Health care cost Analysis Essay
Health Care Costs Analysis
Healthcare is expensive and Americans want the best possible healthcare they can get. Consumers are
demanding more tests, better drugs and insurance coverage. Americans desire a high quality of life
and insurers/employers are trying to provide the means, but cost effectively and without raising costs.
In order to do this, consumers will have to make more decisions, pay more and perhaps demand
greater value (Barr, Paul).
The common forces driving utilization and costs are medical technology advancement, demanding
consumers, and an aging population (Barr). Advancements can be seen all over the medical field in
areas such ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This Act creates a problem for the federal government: an even larger budget deficit. Medicare eats up
a large share of government expenditures...there [is] not ...enough money to keep Medicare as it now
operates afloat. Everybody s freaking about it (Barr). Providers who currently accept Medicare have
even stated that they will not continue to accept this form of payment if the rates for service decrease
or fees are not paid.
There is also the issue of the uninsured and the underinsured whom generate charges for services that
are not paid. There are currently 45 million Americans without insurance. These people are not denied
services when they are life threatening, therefore their unpaid bills are absorbed by the hospitals and
providers thus passed on to the consumer in the form of higher charges for service.
Those who have insurance and seek services are living longer. As Americans live longer with chronic
illnesses, the definition of good health that can be financed through insurance has been dramatically
expanded (Schaeffer, Leonard D.). This also translates into people expecting services for quality of
life issues. Some of those quality of life services are the prescribing of medications for erectile
dysfunction (ED) and experimental cancer treatment drugs that have not been proven to be wholly
effective. Americans

American Red Cross Humanitarian Group Essay
There are many humanitarian groups out there, but what exactly is a humanitarian group? Well it is a
group of people that have an urge to help the community and the people in it. They do all sorts of
things like help the poor and the less fortunate. They also run different programs like if you need
counseling or help getting back on your feet after an addiction or disaster. But is that really all there is
to a humanitarian group?
One of the thousands of humanitarian groups and probably the most well known is the American Red
Cross. The American Red Cross does many things for our community and nation. One of the things
they do is prepare. This is when they might go to homes or go to different buildings to install fire
alarms. Or if there is going to be a flood they might go and help people sandbag their house. Not only
do they prepare but they also respond. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Library is a way children across the community, whether rich or poor, can always have a book to read.
Currently United Way has mailed over 260,00 books to roughly 8,300 kids in the Bismarck Mandan
area. It may sound kind of sad, but some kids do not have enough food at home on the weekends so
they will go to school on Monday and find themselves tired, dizzy and distracted. But the United Way
has targeted that problem by creating the Backpack program. The Backpack Program is where
children in the Bismarck Mandan area take home a bag of food every weekend, so they won t go
hungry. The United Way does not only help the poor and needy, it also helps the elderly that do not
want to live in a nursing home but cannot live by themselves. The best part is there are over 769 home
services that help them with this. The United Way continues to help our community and the people
that live here by giving them a better tomorrow and

Childhood Obesity Effects On Children
Since children are still in their developmental stages food habits formed early on will only carry over
into adulthood, and continue to progress getting worse. Childhood obesity is such a concern because
of the health problems that come along with being obese. Obese children are more likely to develop
serious health conditions, such as high blood pressure, asthma, cardiovascular disease, and type 2
diabetes ( Mikailova). There is nothing more important than staying healthy, and obviously as a
country we are doing a poor job of ensuring that children grow up healthy as well as fit. Not only can
Obesity lead to health problems but it can also have psychological effects on children. For instance

Miranda Lambert Interpretation
Miranda Lambert, a female country artist, wrote Mama s Broken Heart which was one of her singles
for her album Four the Record . When I first heard the song, I loved it instantly. The tune along with
the verses went along very well. The prevailing guitar in the song also sounded great. Miranda
Lambert became a solo artist in 2003 when she was a finalist in a show called Nashville Star . She
won third place, and later signed a record deal with Epic Records. Since then she has been a well
known female country artist. She has featured in songs with other great artist such as Carrie
Underwood and Little Big Town. Some of her other very famous singles include Gunpowder and Lead

When I first heard this song, it kind of reminded me of her previous song Gunpowder and Lead . She
has that sass and toughness in both songs. When I hear this song I believe she is trying to portray how
times have changed. For example she states My momma came from a softer generation/ Where you
get a grip and bite your lip just to save a little face. I believe she is telling us how maybe back in the
day you may have had to hide your crazy but times have changed. In her chorus she also says Run and
hide your crazy and start actin like a lady/ Cause I raised you better, gotta keep it together/ Even when
you fall apart. This to me makes me feel like society holds women up to a higher standard, where we
always have to act like ladies and be ok. I feel as if we cannot show our emotions because we have to
live up to that standard of society. We always need to act like ladies and be ladylike, when in reality
there are times we want to go crazy. It is normal human behavior, yet we are shamed if we show it
because we get hit with the that is not ladylike speech. Another verse that stuck out to me was This

Essay on Protecting Miles and Flora in The Turn of the Screw
Protecting Miles and Flora in The Turn of the Screw
I saw my service so strongly and simply. I was there to protect and defend the little creatures... The
governess sees it as her duty to protect Miles and Flora. What do they need protection from and how
does Henry James illustrate this in his novel The Turn of the Screw ?
Henry James s Turn of the Screw can be interpreted in many different ways. He constructed his novel
in order to make allusions to sexual topics, (without stating anything explicitly) madness, ghosts and
the
Victorian society. In this essay I will be analysing each of the above in order to make a conclusion as
to what I think the children need protecting from.
As for the ghosts being present or not, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
But either way I don t believe the governess saw the ghosts based on two main factors; first being, her
vague description of Miss Jessel, and secondly, the fact Mrs Grose never saw either of the ghosts.
I think the children need protection from the governess and her imagination. The governess comes
across to have an unbalanced behaviour which doesn t go well with the children. I also think madness
links into the fact the governess is hallucinating. I believe the hallucinations have lead the governess
to get carried away, which slowly turned her insane and made her very over protective towards the
children. The more the governess hallucinates the more insane she is going to get, which is not going
to protect the children in anyway as she would be trying to sort out her imagination. The governess is
only a child herself, having to cope with two other children alone maybe a bit to much too handle, so
having this other pressure (the hallucinations) to cope with might just leave her to break down
mentally. In the turn of the screw, Henry James never identifies who is to blame for the chaos at Bly.
The interpretation bought about by the
Victorian society is that the master is to blame. By neglecting his responsibility to provide a stabilizing
environment at Bly, he allowed everything to breakdown into chaos:

Louisianan Purchase Disadvantages
The United States bought out Louisiana from France 190 years ago. Beginning on April 30, 1803, one
of the greatest estate deals in history took place. Jefferson seemed to be very familiar with the French,
according to his past, due to the time he spent in Europe as an American envoy. He also understood
the danger which potential military posed. A French regime also posed as a neighbor that took control
of the gorgeous land .One that would double the size of the country and put the United States in a
position to become a world power. However he Louisiana territorial purchase was not as easy of a
business process as one might think. It seemed to be very rushed, stressful process that caused
President Thomas Jefferson a huge amount of mental and emotional issues, although at the end it was
worth the stress because the purchase did include many advantages.
First off, one advantage Jefferson received by the purchase of the territory was the U.S gained control
over New Orleans and Mississippi river. In an article written by Lydia Pick ham she states in the days
before canals and railroads, rivers were the only way to ship goods from one point to the other, further,
the port city of New Orleans, was vital to the further development of the American economy. By
Jefferson purchasing the land he put an end to this. After all, the purchase created an evolution of trade
along the coast of the river. According to Erin Z. Inside of the article Benefits of the Purchase , he

Apples and Oranges Essay
Apples and Oranges
No two things could be more different than apples and oranges. Just by looking at them one can see
many different characteristics that set them apart from each other. Apples are red, yellow, russet, and
sometimes striped in color and oranges are usually orange. Oranges have to be peeled before one can
eat them. These two different fruits grow in different parts of the world, on different trees, and in
different climates. What could these complete opposites have in common? Surprisingly they share
many qualities that really do make them a lot alike. The apple is the most important tree fruit of the
temperate regions of the world. Apples have been grown and used for food since the early dawn ...

Apple trees generally do not begin to blossom and bear fruit until they are 5 to 8 years old. They reach
maximum production at about age 20; commercial orchards are generally replaced when they reach 35
to 40 years in age. Although the trees would live longer, the fruit from old trees is generally smaller
and poorer in appearance and more expensive to care for. Apple trees can withstand temperatures as
low as 40 degrees C. Here in the United States apples mainly grow in Washington, Pennsylvania, New
York, Michigan and California. The trees need a period of cold or dormancy to grow and bear fruit
properly. So they cannot grow in tropic areas. Oranges on the other hand also were around in ancient
times. Some experts have proved that they date back as far as 4,000 years ago according to ancient
Chinese records. Oranges also come from the other side of the Atlantic. When Christopher Columbus
sailed for the New World, he carried with him seeds of oranges and other types of citrus fruits. The
seeds were planted on the island of Hispaniola. Just as the Europeans spread apple trees westward in
the United States by moving further that way. The Indians spread citrus trees beyond the Spanish
Plantations by dropping seeds from fruit they were eating. Soon groves were of wild citrus trees.
Orange trees never stop growing. By the time it is 20, it may be 4.5 meters (15 feet) high and

Splintering Urbanism
There are many fundamental infrastructures in America that we rely on day to day. When I hear the
word infrastructure, the first thing that comes to mind are networks of transportation such as roads,
bridges, highways, rails, and airports. But infrastructure is so much more. From the water
infrastructure that provides a clean supply of water as well as the removal of water waste, to the
generation and distribution of power infrastructure, or even gas for those who need to heat their homes
and cook on stoves. All of these have their respective purposes and functions in society, but the focus
of this is going to be on the telecommunications infrastructure. The internet is a powerful system and
infrastructure that many people and their technology depend on. Even many other infrastructures have
the internet woven into its core in order to effectively operate. Tim Berners Lee, the creator of the
world wide web, once said, I myself feel that it is very important that my ISP supplies internet to my
house like the water company supplies water to my house. It supplies connectivity with no strings
attached. Sadly, connectivity to the telecommunications infrastructure is showing symptoms of

Humans have been innovators, from the first shapers of stone and wood into crude implements, to the
inventors of electronic gadgets that entertain us and help us manage our lives from our shirt pockets.
Today innovation is based not only on the challenges, problems, and needs but also on the social,
political, and cultural conditions prevailing in the prospective market. People fear the unknown ó
especially when they believe that it could adversely affect their health or established social systems.
The triangle of technology, innovation, and society is one of the central spheres of modern activities.
Successful innovation frequently is not only the result of scientific technical progress. Non technical
aspects, such as political and economic framework conditions, acceptance by the population, or ethical
questions also play an important role in the decision whether and which technologies contribute to the
solution of societal problems.

Relationship Between Drug And Alcohol
The first thing that the course has helped to understand in relation to drug and alcohol is the different
terms that are used when counseling a person. This is the general terms that are used when counseling
a patient. For example, it is not good to use terms like you are wrong, you do not know or you are
foolish. The course has helped to learn the new terms that I will be using like, instead of saying you
are wrong, you can say, that is another good reason. Additionally, it has helped us to learn the tone of
language that is to be used. When counseling a patient, one should always be calm and always be
positive about what the patient is feeling and thinking.
It is also in this unit of general psychology that we have learned how very different people behave in
the different ways. This is where the course has taught me why different people behave as they do and
why they end up drinking. Stress is one factor that makes people end up becoming alcoholic or turning
into drugs. Additionally, drug abuse and alcoholism have also been known to be hereditary from the
recent research studies that have been done by the different scholars. It is through this course that we
have learned the very many reasons as to why people behave in different ways and why they take
drugs or alcohol.

the introduction to therapy is done. One way of helping a drug or an alcohol addict to stop

Donald Trump Sociology
Donald Trump s unprecedented victory in the presidential election has polarized the nation, to say the
least. Some individuals exult. For many other Americans, however, the election s outcome represents
the beginning of a regime where fear dominates the sociopolitical atmosphere. Trump has been readily
forthcoming with his aggressive anti immigration policy, which in its worst state included, among
other strategies, a promise to deport all illegal immigrants and a plan to reinforce the border with
Mexico. Opponents accuse the president elect of racist motivations because his policy plan appears to
create a hostile environment that explicitly targets Latino minority groups.
Indeed, Trump has inflated the issues surrounding Mexican immigration ... Show more content on

Trump connects problems that were once associated with African American ghettos to the newer
Latino enclaves. These problems are not cultural but systemic, according to Massey: The out
migration of middle class families from ghetto areas left behind a destitute community lacking the
institutions, resources, and values necessary for success in post industrial society. Socioeconomic
immobility caused by historic institutional racism against blacks created communities in Los Angeles
where economic hardship was the norm. Unlike other immigrant groups who possess certain
economic and racial characteristics conducive to success in the modern social climate of the United
States such as the Korean Americans, Latinos can only make a feasible living in the high poverty areas
which blacks once occupied and were consequently forced to inherit all the deeply embedded social
issues of those areas. A Mexican culture of crime thus does not cause the high incidence of crime in
Los Angeles s economically desperate neighborhoods as Trump would have the nation believe. Rather,
the crime stricken culture present in the inner city is the symptom of systemic and historical processes
which dictate the modern environment in

My Experience On My Career
Daniel H Pink emphasizes that our world should move toward Motivation 3.0 and that we should
become more type I people than Type X. Pink suggest this because Motivation 3.0 and Type I both go
with the three nutrients we need to better our world; autonomy, mastery, and purpose. Autonomy is a
self determination theory, Mastery is the desire to get better and better at something you like, and
finally purpose provides activation energy for living. Pink reaffirms For type I, it s the main motivator
is the freedom, challenge, and purpose of the undertaking itself; any other gains are welcome, but
mainly as a bonus. (76) . I agree to the three elements in Motivation 3.0 and as well as to Type I
because of my experience in education toward my career confirms it. I ve had challenges threw my
education and I know that I will continue to have them, but I also know that I have some freedom in
the work I have to do. All of this will help me in my career and a Preschool Teacher.
As Pink argues about Type I and Type X people, I can say that at some point during my education I
can be Type X. According to Pink, Type Xs, main motivation is external rewards, any deeper
satisfaction is welcome, but secondary. During my education I wanted to get to get rewarded if I did

Criticism In Animal Farm And The Prophet s Hair
Literature generally reflects life. It doesn t just describe the events; it creates characters and conflicts
to help the reader better understand the meaning of the events. Modern literature is often linked to
ideology, either supporting or discriminating it. George Orwell s Animal Farm and Salman Rushdie s
The Prophet s Hair are among the literary texts that attack the ideologies, Communism and Islam
respectively. Even though the texts are written in the genres that are usually used to support the
principles and ideas of the philosophy they promote, Animal Farm and The Prophet s Hair undermine
these philosophies. There are certain similarities in the way G.Orwell and S.Rushdie discriminate the

First of all, the tone of describing events and characters in both texts is sarcastic. Humorous undertone
is expressed by different means: caricatures, contrasts and hyberbolisations in Animal Farm; high
diction and exaggeration in The Prophet s Hair ( procession , endless ululating crocodiles of
lamentation , ramifications , massive police search ). Moreover, both protagonists, Napoleon and
Hashim, are obsessed with the idea. Napoleon puts in place any means to achieve his goal; and
Hashim becomes a different person, betraying his own principles, in order to satisfy the requirements
of his new ideas. Worship of the ideology, be it Communism or Islam, is at the core of the conflicts. In
addition, both characters use their ideologies, but not common sense and consciousness, to justify their
acts. Napoleon s every new decision, even the most abnormal, is supported by Surely, comrades, you
do not want Jones back? ; by Jones implying the old regime. After these words every argument
becomes unanswerable. For his part Hashim uses religion to justify his greed and passion. He tells
himself: ...the Prophet would have disapproved mightily of this relic worship: he abhorred the idea of

Extreme Programming Up Front Design Methodologies Essay
Extreme Programming (XP) has spent the past decades under perpetual scrutiny by software
developers fixated on up front design methodologies. The idea behind this is simple: if you want to
make sure something is well built, you must design it well first, then put it together using reliable
tools. For objects such as houses, cars, or tables, of which the design evolves gradually throughout
decades, the methods of up front design suffice. Computer programs, on the other hand, are products
often made for an industry that evolves at higher rates than any other. For this type of environment,

Weaknesses Of Democracy In Spain
Analyze the reasons for the weaknesses and collapse of democracy between 1918 and 1939 in Spain
Democracy was a relatively unknown political system for the Spanish. Instead, Spain was typically
ruled by a monarchy or dictatorship, having only experienced democracy for a year in the 1870s. It
was only in 1931, when Spain attempted to reintroduce democracy. Although, the Second Spanish
Republic did not last very long, due to it s poor environment. The lack of experience of working
within a democratic system, the polarization of the Spanish populace, a high degree of fragmentation
within the pole, and the substantial level of inequality in Spain during this time period were all key
weaknesses that led to the collapse of democracy in Spain. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

As a result of the recession, there was a large gap between the rich and the poor within Spain. Due to
this situation, the sustainability of democracy in Spain became questionable as the poor didn t trust the
wealthy and wanted to change things, creating a divide within Spain. The large structural barrier
between the two classes didn t allow the poor classes to move out of their wretched situation. Social
and economic structural problems were undoubtedly severe, the worst being the plight of the newly
two million landless farmworkers and their families, a plight made much more conflictive by the fact
that Spain was now a rapidly country with democratic mass mobilization. The low wages, limited

Thus why Commissioner Bud Selig and the owners recently approved a motion to implement

Killing in the November 26th issue of ESPN: the Magazine. Using the three main artistic appeals as
defined by Sophocles, Caple sets out to expose why Commissioner Selig wants to dissolve the Twins,
how his reasoning is inappropriately influenced and, above all, why the Twins should remain in

High Concentration Lab
Introduction
The purpose of this experiment is to observe the nett movement of particles from regions of high
concentration to low concentration.
Background biology
Agar
Agar is derived from polysaccharide agarose, which forms the supporting structure in the cell walls of
certain species of algae, and is released on boiling. Agar is actually the resulting mixture of two
components: the linear polysaccharide agarose, and a diverse mixture of smaller molecules called
agaropectin.
Diffusion
Diffusion is the movement of substance from an area of high concentration to an area with low
concentration. The rate of diffusion is influenced by a number of factors including the concentration of
the gradient, temperature and the size and chemical ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The importance to repeat experiments is to make sure that the results can be replicated, and that the
experiment results were not flawed. For the most accurate measurements, the highest and lowest
numbers measured need to be removed and keep and use the middle measurement.
A pattern emerged with our results, the bigger the cube surface area, the less the cube diffused in the
acid. With only one exception the 2CM block of agar (error). The results emerged shows with a block
with larger surface area, the less it diffuses in this experiment, the acid.
Conclusion
From the results of this investigation agar blocks with higher surface to volume ratio will diffuse
slower than ones with lower surface to volume ratio. This is done by the process of diffusion. The
hypothesis was correct, as the bigger the cube was the less it diffused and the agar had a chemical
reaction with the sulphuric acid. The chemical reaction caused the agar to change its purple colour to
almost transparent.
Abstract
Purpose and procedure The purpose of this experiment is to determine the effect of surface area to
volume ratio on agar blocks in sulphuric acid

  • 2. Outdated Themes Into The Mosaic Of The Romantic Period Castles, Lords, and merry singing, how does Mary Robinson fit these seeming outdated themes into the mosaic of the Romantic Period? The Poor Singing Dame is about an impoverished old woman who lives a cheerful existence through singing despite the fact that many would consider her circumstances miserable. A Lord of the nearby castle becomes overwhelmed with jealousy of the woman s happiness and locks her in prison where she dies. He is haunted by his actions and soon dies subsequently. Mary Robinson is an interesting addition to the list of prominent Romantic Period writers. The structure of The Poor Singing Dame is interesting to compare to the structures that her contemporaries use, yet she includes many of the popular themes of the time as well. The fantastic rumors of Lord Byron s life cannot match the sensational reality of Mary Robinson s. Along with her successful writing, she was an actress, fashion icon, and mistress of the Prince of Wales. Compared to her contemporaries, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The shape of the stanzas and the rhyming pattern may vaguely resemble the famous cantos of Lord Byron. Those works of literature were modeled after classic Italian pieces. Although The Poor Singing Dame honors the classics, critics have said Mary Robinson s writing possesses the new realism that will impel English poetry into the nineteenth century (Norton 78). In The Poor Singing Dame, Mary Robinson s voice seems negated from the narrative and in that sense bears resemblance John Keats. However the singing old woman s happiness being ruined by a tyrannical Lord may be Mary Robinson expressing some of her feelings after being deserted by the Prince of Wales. It is harder to make a connection between John Keats life and some of his work, Lamia for example. Mary Robinson s voice does not play an outstanding role in The Poor Singing Dame, because her themes take center ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Crime statistics and media coverage of statistics is used by government as a basis and justification for their criminal justice policies in order to respond to crime effectively. A good example of this is the drug classification policy in England and Wales whereby changing media coverage of incidents of the usage of cannabis influenced the government to move the drug from class B to C in 2004, and back to class B in 2009. Crime statistics helped the public to know how much crime, and which particular type of crime are in a particular area. For example, how much crime is in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 8. The Use Of Dashes In William Stafford s Traveling Through... As humans, we are often faced with tough decisions throughout life. The way in which we make those decisions are often painful and excruciating. William Stafford portrays this through his gloomy free verse poem Traveling Through the Dark. Throughout the poem, Stafford use of dashes give us insight into the mind of the driver and the relationship of life and death. The form and use of dashes allows the reader to explore their minds and analyze what they would do in the driver s situation. Stafford uses form and his placement of dashes to convey the theme: the toughest decisions are often the most agonizing and challenging. Traveling Through the Dark is an free verse poem containing four line stanzas and a couplet to end the poem. The way the poem is structured leaves us with a sense of incompletion, as the last couplet does follow the pattern of a four line stanza. Throughout the poem, the lines feel very connected and smooth, however, near the end in the final couplet, it feels incomplete. This sense of incompletion represents the death of the deer as the driver pushed her over the edge into the river (line 18). The poem is connected through ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When the driver first sits eyes upon the deer, his first reaction is to roll them into the canyon (line 3). Stafford s use of language with the dashes portrays the readers thoughts. The Oppression Of Motherhood When will you have a child? is a question often heard by women nearing a certain age, or upon achieving certain milestones in her life (such as marriage or after her 30th birthday). While it may be true that women are indeed the only ones with the ability to bear children, having a child is portrayed as a woman s right of passage. Individuals frequently overstep boundaries of privacy and inquire insensitively about a woman s personal plan for children, and the male glorifying society is to be blamed for this prying and expectation. Due to the fact that motherhood in general is largely linked to women s subordination to men, voluntary alternate decisions are subject to public criticism for violating the dominant norm. However, what if a woman truly has no desire to become a mother? Is it really something that every woman should aspire to? Why are women who opt not to procreate stigmatized in the first place? Once they took control of the peninsula they intended to use it as a buffer against Russian, Chinese, and other Western influences. In 1894, a rebellion broke out in Korea. I also think madness links into the fact the governess is hallucinating. I believe the hallucinations have lead the governess to get carried away, which slowly turned her insane and made her very over protective towards the children. The more the governess hallucinates the more insane she is going to get, which is not going to protect the children in anyway as she would be trying to sort out her imagination. The governess is only a child herself, having to cope with two other children alone maybe a bit to much too handle, so having this other pressure (the hallucinations) to cope with might just leave her to break down mentally. Just by looking at them one can see many different characteristics that set them apart from each other. Apples are red, yellow, russet, and sometimes striped in color and oranges are usually orange. Oranges have to be peeled before one can eat them. These two different fruits grow in different parts of the world, on different trees, and in different climates. What could these complete opposites have in common? Surprisingly they share many qualities that really do make them a lot alike. Apple trees generally do not begin to blossom and bear fruit until they are 5 to 8 years old. They reach maximum production at about age 20; commercial orchards are generally replaced when they reach 35 to 40 years in age. Although the trees would live longer, the fruit from old trees is generally smaller and poorer in appearance and more expensive to care for. Apple trees can withstand temperatures as low as 40 degrees C. Here in the United States apples mainly grow in Washington, Pennsylvania, New York, Michigan and California. The trees need a period of cold or dormancy to grow and bear fruit properly. So they cannot grow in tropic areas. Oranges on the other hand also were around in ancient times. Some experts have proved that they date back as far as 4,000 years ago according to ancient Chinese records. Oranges also come from the other side of the Atlantic. When Christopher Columbus sailed for the New World, he carried with him seeds of oranges and other types of citrus fruits. The seeds were planted on the island of Hispaniola. Just as the Europeans spread apple trees westward in the United States by moving further that way. The Indians spread citrus trees beyond the Spanish Plantations by dropping seeds from fruit they were eating. Soon groves were of wild citrus trees. Orange trees never stop growing. When I hear the word infrastructure, the first thing that comes to mind are networks of transportation such as roads, bridges, highways, rails, and airports. But infrastructure is so much more. From the water infrastructure that provides a clean supply of water as well as the removal of water waste, to the generation and distribution of power infrastructure, or even gas for those who need to heat their homes and cook on stoves. All of these have their respective purposes and functions in society, but the focus of this is going to be on the telecommunications infrastructure. The internet is a powerful system and infrastructure that many people and their technology depend on. Even many other infrastructures have the internet woven into its core in order to effectively operate. Tim Berners Lee, the creator of the world wide web, once said, I myself feel that it is very important that my ISP supplies internet to my house like the water company supplies water to my house. This is the general terms that are used when counseling a patient. For example, it is not good to use terms like you are wrong, you do not know or you are foolish. The course has helped to learn the new terms that I will be using like, instead of saying you are wrong, you can say, that is another good reason. Additionally, it has helped us to learn the tone of language that is to be used. When counseling a patient, one should always be calm and always be positive about what the patient is feeling and thinking. It is also in this unit of general psychology that we have learned how very different people behave in the different ways. This is where the course has taught me why different people behave as they do and why they end up drinking. Stress is one factor that makes people end up becoming alcoholic or turning into drugs. Additionally, drug abuse and alcoholism have also been known to be hereditary from the recent research studies that have been done by the different scholars. These problems are not cultural but systemic, according to Massey: The out migration of middle class families from ghetto areas left behind a destitute community lacking the institutions, resources, and values necessary for success in post industrial society. Socioeconomic immobility caused by historic institutional racism against blacks created communities in Los Angeles where economic hardship was the norm. Unlike other immigrant groups who possess certain economic and racial characteristics conducive to success in the modern social climate of the United States such as the Korean Americans, Latinos can only make a feasible living in the high poverty areas which blacks once occupied and were consequently forced to inherit all the deeply embedded social issues of those areas. Extreme Programming Up Front Design Methodologies Essay Extreme Programming (XP) has spent the past decades under perpetual scrutiny by software developers fixated on up front design methodologies. The idea behind this is simple: if you want to make sure something is well built, you must design it well first, then put it together using reliable tools. For objects such as houses, cars, or tables, of which the design evolves gradually throughout decades, the methods of up front design suffice. Computer programs, on the other hand, are products often made for an industry that evolves at higher rates than any other.
