The Success Of A Student Essay
Results: Ultimately, this cycle culminated in a better understanding of, and connection with, my
students. I felt that this cycle helped me to foster the gradual independence that the school encourages
in its students, as we could then collaborate together on problems and recognise successes. Perhaps
most importantly, the interest and focus I was able to show each student made the students feel valued
and to be more motivated. The students also seemed to demonstrate greater understanding of
themselves as learners; for example, the student who was struggling with maths expressed a desire to
continue tracking his progress independently. It is important to note that in that case I have the
advantage of only working with a class of 6 currently, and I may not be able to use this technique as
effectively with a larger class, though I could surely use some variation of it. Though I did have a
strong knowledge of students, particularly due to the small size of my class, having a detailed record
to which to refer and create feedback helped to deepen this understanding and the quality of feedback.

Difference Between American Black Bear And Grizzly Bears
Bears are becoming more and more known, and people are wondering what s the main difference
between different species. Bears are important, they are omnivores and help spread seeds with their
scat. The two main bears species are American Black Bears and Grizzly Bears.
They are both bears, but, have many differences. Some of them are their habitats, characteristics, and
their human interactions.
The American Black Bear and Grizzly Bear both have many habitats. Having different habitats helps
with the environment. American Black Bears live in at least 40 states in North
America. They also live in Canada and Mexico. Grizzly Bears on the other hand live in an assortment
of areas and climates. They can live in dense forests, subalpine meadows, open

Woodrow Wilson Argumentative Analysis
Woodrow Wilson originally took a neutral stance in the First World War but as US foreign economic
interest was jeopardized, America made the decision to enter the war. Although some were for the war
movement, large segments of the population were unsure about the United States entry. Their doubt
was justified when America came into the fighting woefully unprepared. They had a small number of
troops and an even smaller number of bullets (Bailey). Due to the lack of men volunteering, the
government established a draft which forced the men to fight. In the end, more than 100,000 men died
fighting in the Great War. Back at the home front, opposition was still high despite propaganda efforts.
Many Americans were dissatisfied by the lack of access to resources that had been available before the
war and didn t like the idea of the draft (Chomsky). To silence the dissenters, the government passed

German Americans were facing increasing discrimination and violence. Families were targeted by
bigoted members of the community and the nation s hysteria was exemplified even in food as
hamburgers were changed to liberty meat (Hixson). By the end, the war had cost the American people
$110 billion and an income tax that would leave future Americans paying the government for
generations (Hess). Franklin Delano Roosevelt spent much of his focus after the Great Depression on
the Second World War. Disregarding his isolationist stance, FDR played a major role in the war
(Holsti and Rosenau). Nativist ideals stemming from the First World War continued into World War II
as racial tensions exploded across America. Effects from the Great Migration in the past decades were

Applebee s Evaluation Essay examples
Eatin Good in the Neighborhood As my girlfriend and I pull into a crowded parking lot during a chilly
Friday evening, we struggle to find a spot of our own, but manage to do so as we take the place of
another young couple as they pull out to leave. I put the car in park as we both gaze at the numerous
parties walking into the restaurant. A bright sign, hung lit overhead, shining the phrase Applebee s
Neighborhood Bar and Grill atop a red brick building. Awnings were placed above every window, and
resting on the ground, between each window, was a wooden park bench surrounded by lush, green
foliage on either side. The whole place looked as if it had been pulled straight from a friendly
neighborhood in the heart of the big apple. I ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I was already pleased with the experience thus far, but it would only get better upon meeting Sheila.
Hi guys, welcome to Applebee s, my name s Sheila. I ll be your waitress tonight. Is there anything I
can get you guys to drink? A very cliché, and well rehearsed line, but it was pleasantly delivered, and I
did in fact feel welcome. She was quick to the table, adding to the speed of the service that we were
already receiving. I ordered my usual tall glass of water with a single lemon wedge, and my girlfriend
asked for a classic lemonade. She promised that they d be right out, and within minutes, I heard the
clinking of ice, as two oversized glasses, dripping with condensation were placed onto our table.
Sheila laid down some straws and asked if we were ready to order. I informed her we d be needing a
moment, as there were so many menu items, and my mouth watered for such a variety, I needed more
time to choose. She smiled and left us to decide as she politely greeted a new party that was walking
through the door. I was highly impressed with the staff here. They added to the warm and inviting
ambience commonly experienced at Applebee s restaurants, and I was loving every minute of it. Our
minds were made up, as I decided to press my luck with one of Applebee s own signature classics,
Fiesta Lime Chicken. My girlfriend chose to play it safe and went with a mundane order of chicken

Master Craftsmen in the Medieval
I like crafts that are made out of necessity because they re a little naive you made it because you
needed it. Amy Sedaris. Master craftsmen during the Medieval Ages created items needed for the
kingdom to thrive. Craftsmen included candle makers, shoemakers, and farmers, but the most famous
craftsmen were blacksmiths, carpenters, and masons. Every type of craftsmen were in groups called
guilds and every guild needed to cooperate. If one guild failed to meet its needs, then the whole
medieval structure will fail, causing the kingdom to fall.
Carpenters, masons, and blacksmiths were important craftsmen in building castles and villages and
you had to go through apprenticeship for many years before becoming one of the three master
craftsmen. Before becoming a master craftsman, the child started their training at the age of eleven or
twelve and became an apprentice. A child would be able to choose his own profession or follow the
family business. Some craftsmen that a child can become include: carpenters, masons, and
blacksmiths The apprentice would last from five to nine years depending on the trade. He received no
wages and could not marry until he was a journeyman. After finishing apprenticeship, the apprentice
became a journeyman. A journeyman received money for his labour and bought supplies that he
needed. During his own time, he created a Masterpiece and later presented it to his group of
craftsmen, or guild, to see if he was ready to be a Master ,

The Economic Viability of American Agriculture Hey mom, what is for supper tonight? Oh I don t

with a rhubarb pie. That all sounds great son, but unfortunately all we have here is the steak; I ll have
to go to the store and see what I can find. Later that evening the supper the family had was exactly

First off, the size of the farm will strongly determine the longevity of the farm s success. There are
several different categories of farms and they all have specific criteria to be part of that category. The
broadest of the categories is the small family farm (sales of less than $250,000). Then under this
category is several sub categories which comprise of: limited resource farms (gross sales of less than
$100,000, total farm assets less than $250,000, and total operator house hold income less than
$20,000), retirement farms (small farms with the operator being retired), residential/lifestyle farms
(small farms with the operator having a major occupation other than farming), farming
occupation/lower sales (sales less than $100,000), farming occupation/higher sales (sales between
$100,000 and $249,999). The other types of farms include large family farms and very large family
farms. The final category is non family farm; these types of farms are more like corporations and
cooperatives. The reason why the size of a farm is so important to the success is that it all depends on
the amount of income that is flowing into the farm. The limited resource, retirement, and lifestyle
family farms will have a better chance of prolonging its existence because of its off farm income.
These types of farms do not need to worry as much about low prices and low yields because of the
other source of cash flow. This brings us to the farming occupation with

The Change In Modern History Have Been Influenced By Many
The change in modern history have been influenced by many factors. Many which have to do with
progress, enlightenment, and new inventions. Three key factors that have changed us into a modern
society are steam engines , mass production and corporations. The invention of the steam
engine, specifically in transportation, has helped this change by helping with speed and efficiency in
transportation and businesses and influencing social lives. Another one of the factors of change is
Mass production, whether it was positive or negative, has had a huge effect on the transformation to
the modern age. It has helped evolve the modern world through economic and social changes such as
the dehumanization of workers, the reversed idea of individualism ... Show more content on

The mass production of things affected the skills of the workers because they were no longer doing
multiple things in factories. The workers specialized in one part of the process because of the use of
assembly lines. Therefore, they didn t have the skills that they would ve had if each person did
everything or more than one things. Therefore, they got paid less as a result. The 19th century
assembly line also kept the workers working at a fast pace. One worker set the pace for the rest so if
one worker slowed down, the entire production was slowed down. This idea was expressed in the
movie Metropolis.
Also, although it was not a very enlightened concept, the workers were not seen as individuals, they
were more of estranged workers and not really important to the factory. They were payed so little and
could easily be replaced. Another example where there is no individualism is The Tiller Girls (formed
in 1889 by John Tiller). They worked as a group and no individual woman had any special importance
to the line, just as the workers in a factory. The Tiller Girls were seen as a mass ornament, which
doesn t celebrate individualism. The economic changes made has to do with the the changes made to
assembly lines and factories. Workers got paid less since they were not skilled, and since it was at a
faster pace there was more production. The faster pace kept everyone in check. Therefore, profit

A Short Note On Mission And Mission Of Mars
Wei Jiang
ESS 102
Instructor: Erika Harnett
November 18, 2016
Manned Mission to Mars The year is 2045, a time when the earth is in great turmoil. Tsunamis,
hurricanes, tornadoes, droughts, famines... all the impacts of global warming are just starting to
disrupt life. Europe and North America are experiencing immigration in unprecedented numbers,
neither because the migrants are escaping persecution, conflicts and wars in their countries, nor
because they are pursuing economic prospects; but because they can no longer survive the high
temperatures in their countries. Europe and North America have become too warm for their
inhabitants but just the right temperature for migrants from South America, the Middle East, Africa
and South Asia to survive. But the problem is not just global warming and migration there is a more
frightening threat, one that could turn the entire Earth s crust upside down Nuclear War. All political
and diplomatic negotiations have failed, leaving war as the last resort. There is not a single safe spot
on earth to escape to. There is only one option left a place outside earth, a different planet Mars. The
possibility of relocation to Mars comes as big relief to people on earth, but there is one problem not
everybody can go. The mission is too expensive for ordinary people. Only billionaires and politicians
who have stolen (and are still stealing) funds that belong to their states can afford it. However, the
good news for a few lucky people is

Effects Of Flowers With Scent Versus Flowers
Effects of Flowers with Scent Versus Flowers without Scent on Insect Activity
Flower communities are an example of a limited ecosystem that vary from one to another based on
species of flower as well as microclimate differences. The main component of a flower community is
the flowering plant itself. This plant is the main dictator of all activity in the community. Other aspects
of this limited ecosystem include the species that interact with this plant and the resources it provides.
These species may then also interact with each other influencing aspects of the ecosystem such as
species behavior, resource abundance, and competition (Watt, 1947). As a community the flowering
plant and organisms are also affected by microclimate ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The flower is in bloom from September to November in habitats with relatively dry soils receiving
little sunlight. Although the flowers do not produce a scent, they do provide a nectar source and are
known to attract butterflies. It is also know to be a plant that attracts predatory insects that prey upon
pest insects the same as the Sweet Everlasting ( Pseudognaphalium obtusifolium). Additionally, it is of
special value to pollinators, and known to attract large numbers of native bees ( Native Plant Database,
n.d.).
The ability of both of these flower communities to exist in similar habitats makes them ideal for
comparing differences in insect activity without the influence of outside factors such as temperature,
light, and humidity. Both flower communities are also known to attract similar species, which allows
the quantity of species visiting one site to be easily compared to the quantity of species visiting the
other site. This is essential because the study aims to determine whether the property of scent,
characteristic of the Sweet Everlasting (Pseudognaphalium obtusifolium), had an effect on the amount
of species interacting with each flower community. If certain species are attracted to scent, then the
sweet everlasting will attract larger numbers of species than the white aster (Symphyotrichum
ericoides).
Methods
For this study two sites were chosen to compare the different insects, spiders, and other invertebrates
that inhabit the limited ecosystem

The Ethics of A Beautiful Mind
IntroductionBy examining the basic content sketch of the movie, A Beautiful Mind, and actual events
that occurred in John Nash s life, many ethical concerns will be addressed. Movies like A Beautiful
Mind create and amplify many ethical concerns relating to the portrayal of mental illnesses and how
society views them. The identity of the ethical concerns exposed in a popular media event, the ethical
dilemmas presented and an ethical theory that is used to address public concerns when a major form of
entertainment is used to misinform and the values exposed in an art form using distortion for
entertainment are all ethical concerns that occur within this film, and through other entertainments.
The concern lies in the social responsibility ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
After his initial diagnosis, Nash is subjected to shock therapy and strong medication. The medication
did help him, but he found that his mathematical and cognitive abilities were severely diminished so
he stopped taking it. The movie has his wife faithfully standing by his side throughout his life offering
continued support and his friends offering varying degrees of support, including a position on the
faculty that is more honorary than anything. His illness did not readily pose a direct threat to anyone
nor was he physically violent to those around him. The instance where he nearly downed his infant
son was an exception rather than the norm and even then he believed the baby was under supervision.
The end of the movie shows Nash receiving the Nobel Prize for his doctoral thesis in 1994 with an
interview being conducted to ascertain his sanity. Nash claims he is sane under his current medication.
Dr. John Nash, the real person, led a much harder life. After his diagnosis, his wife divorced him in
1963 fearing safety, but did reunite in a non romantic relationship several years later and ultimately
remarrying in 2001. During their co habitation, his wife referred to Nash as a boarder and their living
arrangement similar to that of distant relatives (Nasar, 1998). At one point, he fled to Europe seeking
refuse from his attackers. In his 1994 autobiography, Nash states his release from the mental hospitals

Imperialism in Nectar in a Sieve
The characters in the book Nectar in a Sieve had to deal with Western imperialism and they had to
adapt to the changing ideas associated with Western imperialism. Throughout the book Rukmani had
to struggle with her beliefs and how to cope with these changes. From the beginning Rukmani coped
with these changes, from culture to her way of life, until the end of the book where even then her life
was not through being changed.
In the first instance Rukmani had to deal with a husband that was several castes below her. Usually if

Eventually Rukmani and her husband had to leave their home because their landlord decided to sell
the property that they were renting. Their one son, Murugan, had left for the city and they had been
hoping that he would take care of them. When they arrived, they discovered that he had skipped town,
and deserted both his family and job. Rukmani and her husband, upon befriending a beggar child,
knew not what to do about money. Being from a small town, money was only used in emergencies
when they were short of food, needed to buy seed, or for some other necessary reason. Although they
would buy the children goodies, such as candy, or fireworks, upon entering city life they soon
discovered that money was for more than just necessity, an Rukmani was soon introduced to the

Hard Bop Essay
Though I was introduced to numerous styles of Jazz this semester, each with their own merits, I will
cover the phenomenon of Hard bop in this paper. I believe that hard bop is a style unlike any other,
and it deserves more recognition. Though it only reached its height of commercial success through the
1950 s and 1960 s, I hope that it will be revived one day, as I believe it to be one of the greatest styles
in Jazz history.
Understanding hard bop involves understanding the cultural roots that spurred its development. In the
1930 s, big Swing bands such as the Count Basie Orchestra dominated the Jazz scene. It was a style
that had a feeling of joy and freedom, in a time when the economy was in poor shape. The music

Miles Davis is one highly significant musician of the hard bop period. Known as the great innovator
of Jazz, he was not known solely for hard bop, but rather numerous styles. Nonetheless, his recording
of the album Walkin in 1954 is made an excellent contribution to the genre. Old bebop stars were
featured in this album, with Kenny Clarke on the drums and Horace Silver on the piano. The album
has the form of a 12 bar blues, and happens to be another obvious Jazz standard.
Douglas Payne of All About Jazz explains the pure masterful skill of Miles Davis, saying Throughout,
Davis sounds grand: comfortable, authoritative and well within his gamely element. His partners seem
well teamed with him too, ready to walk or run to Davis s beat. Walkin offers at least two jazz
essentials ( Walkin , Solar ) and it serves as an excellent place to begin or continue appreciating the

The Appropriate Court For This Lawsuit
The appropriate court for this lawsuit depends upon several factors. Three important considerations
include the following: Personal jurisdiction which allows courts to have jurisdiction over both the
plaintiff and defendant in a case. Specific to corporations, personal jurisdiction only applies in the
state in which the company does business, is incorporated and has it principle office. In Margolin s
suit, personal jurisdiction would not apply because although the company does business in the state of
New York, both Novelty Now and Funny Faces are not incorporated or have principle offices in this
state.
Subject matter jurisdiction allows a court the authority to only hear case that are in regards to a
specific topic. Although restrictive in its ability to hear cases based on the topic, subject matter
jurisdiction can specialize in a specific case type. Courts such as tax, federal claims and bankruptcy
are examples courts which have subject matter jurisdiction.
In reference to the case study, subject matter jurisdiction could possibly apply. Since Margolin suit
claims negligence on the parts of Novelty Now and Funny Faces for using PYR in their product the
case could be heard in a federal claims court. The violation of FDA regulations makes the case a
stronger candidate for this type of venue.
Minimum contact establishes an appropriateness for one state to assert its jurisdiction on a person or
business in another state. When evaluating the facts of the case presented, it

Analysis Of I Heard A Fly Buzz When I Died
Emily Dickinson s I heard a Fly buzz when I died describes a death speaker looks back the moment of
his or her death. Using the objects like the storm, the fly and the melancholy of the people around to
express the mood of the speaker, Dickinson reveals that faces the death, the speaker is afraid at first,
but finally, the speaker finds the calmness and peace inside herself or himself. Like I heard a Fly buzz
when I died , After Death also addresses a moment before death. Rossetti uses the death as a
compensation of the tragic love He did not love me living; but once dead . Two poems both use brief
imagery and setting to describe the atmosphere before death, however, Dickinson focus on the change

Be witnessed in the Room (Dickinson, lines 5 8)
People are sad and sorrow, and maybe they are the speaker s family members and friends. Their eyes
are like sponges, and crying is stretching the tears out of the sponges and had [has] wrung them dry .
Breaths have touchable weight and shape that can be gathered together and get firmed. Dickinson
endows new property to the breath and cry. This provides a vivid picture in the room like people are
sobbing and weeping weakly, and the same feeling as if our audience is part of the people around the
speaker. Then Dickinson describes the mental world of the people. They are waiting and to witness the
King Death in their own eyes.
What does the last moment look like? Is it horrified? Dickinson gives her answer in the last stanza:

I could not see to see (Dickinson, lines 13 16)
There are many symbols in this stanza: a light, blue color, a buzz, and windows. I consider the light is
a symbol of heaven and the fly is the speaker s soul because flies have wings just as angles.

Improving Breastfeeding A New Born
Throughout this essay I am going to evaluate the effectiveness of my booklet which aims to promote
breastfeeding a new born. The main concept of the booklet was to identify and explain why
breastfeeding is key to a new borns wellbeing. WHO (2014) state:
Breastfeeding is the normal way of providing young infants with the nutrients they need for healthy
growth and development.
I am going to look at how successfully my booklet demonstrates this to the mother with ease of access
and range of activities for the early year s educator to use and inform themselves upon. However
mothers do encounter the problem of criticism, Breastfeeding Problems (2011):
Breastfeeding criticism is sometimes easy to handle when from a stranger, but much more ... Show

The promotion of formula and follow on milk is designed to increase sales not to provide accurate
information to mothers.
This now means that formula manufactures cannot promote their product to a mother before the
government s guidelines of breastfeeding exclusively for six months. Manufactures now discuss their
products as follow on milk referring to the end of the breastfeeding process.
Low levels of breastfeeding as a threat is also recognised at a local level, using the Child Health
Profile for Derbyshire, (CHIMAT 2014), it indicates that breastfeeding initiation and breastfeeding
prevalence at 6 8 weeks after birth were significantly worse than England average . Within Derbyshire
promotion is helped through The Breastfeeding Welcome Here Award, this allows companies to
promote breastfeeding by allowing and encouraging mothers to feed their baby within their
establishment. This award is free to sign up for and the implications would mean the business, such a
cafés, libraries and schools, would welcome women to breastfeed in their establishment which reduces
the stigma related to breastfeeding in public and increases the confidence of the mother. Bradshaw

How Did The Indian Removal Act Under President Jackson...
Jake Vertin
TA: Andrew Dial
HIST 211
Fall 2014
In what ways did the Indian Removal act under President Jackson help establish a new interpretation
of democracy and a movement away from revolutionary era republicanism?
Andrew Jackson: The Era of the Common Man at the Expense of the Other
The essential question of the Jacksonian period in American history should not be focused on slavery,
nor on western migration of native tribes (as important, relevant, and controversial as these topics are).
It is true that his administration did try to hide and dismiss slavery, and it is also true that in the
manner of its execution the policy of Indian removal was a horror. However, the fundamental question
surrounding his presidency revolves around how the doctrines of democracy replaced the doctrines of
republicanism. Indeed, Jackson had a powerful contribution to American political history. The
Jacksonian Era actually changed the goal of the Founding Fathers to put more power into the
presidency rather than in congress. His commitment to the federal structure, states rights, and a
severely limited central government, all accounted for in his policy of Indian removal are Jackson s
greatest contributions and resulted in the development of modern democracy in the United States.
The founding fathers envisioned and brought to life a system of checks and balances to prevent an
over concentrated power in a central government. They wanted to preserve and protect American

The Long Term Effectiveness Of Prolonged Exposure Therapy
Literature Review
Existing controlled examinations of intervention efficacy specific to only sexual assault and rape are
presently minimal in comparison to intervention examinations of combination or other types of trauma
(Regehr, Alaggia, Dennis, Pitts, Saini, 2013). Psychotherapeutic interventions that fail to differentiate
sexual assault and rape victims from other types of trauma victims may decrease the treatment
effectiveness or inadvertently harm participants in this subgroup. Trauma associated from rape or
sexual assault differs from other forms of trauma and treatment efficacy should be examined in this
manner. Trauma from rape or sexual assault entail symptoms of PTSD, depression, suicidal ideations
and sexual dysfunction. Individuals may also indicate feelings of vulnerability, loss of control, fear,
shame, self blame, societal blame and stigma (Russell Davis, 2007; Regehr et al., 2013; Ullman Peter
Hagene, 2014). This research proposal intends to explore the long term effectiveness of Prolonged
Exposure Therapy (PE) at reducing distress and trauma explicitly for adult victims of sexual assault
and rape.
Prolonged exposure (PE) is a specific exposure therapy program that derives from Emotional
Processing Theory (EPT). The idea of emotional processing is to interpret realistic information and
accommodate that information into a fear structure which in turn diminishes the fear (Foa, 2011). Foa
(2011) acknowledges that the idea of failing to process trauma is

Reflection Paper On A Material Library
On Friday October 20, 2017, I visited Interspace Limited, an interior design firm that specializes in
commercial interiors. Interspace Limited focuses on furniture specifications, production and project
management, team work, scheduling, and budgeting to ensure that the clients needs are supported and
granted. Furniture and material finishes are their specialty so they are always update with current
trends, manufacture representatives, and business connections. During my firm visit, I meet with the
owner, Darlene Huffman, who kindly showed me around the firm and materials library. Before and
after the materials library, I took advantage of making new connections and asking personal questions
about the firm s unique project process and internship opportunities. During my time within their
materials library, I asked a series of questions to understand the importance of Interspace Limited s
materials. How is there material library organized? How often do they utilize the material lab? How
do you use the material lab? At what point in the project do they begin to think about materials and
why? How do you stay informed of material trends? What are some of your favorite manufactures and
why? And mostly importantly, what is a local interior space you think expresses good applications and
use of materials? Starting with the questions how is the materials organized and how often do they
utilize the materials library? The materials library is composed of two rooms organized

Analysis Of The World Of Doublespeak By William Lutz
In the essay The World of Doublespeak , by William Lutz, the author gives the reader four different
questions to help one identify doublespeak. According to Lutz these questions are, who is saying what
to whom, under what conditions and circumstances, with what intent, and with what results? (par. 4).
These questions help to distinguish between truthful language and doublespeak. The first question,
who is saying what to whom? focuses on the relationship between the two people. The chance of
doublespeak being present increases greatly when the two people have a negative, or passive
aggressive, relationship. The next question, under what conditions and circumstances? focuses on the
events of what is going on. This question shows up prominently in events such as political rallies and
debates. The third question, with what intent focuses on the underlying goal of the statement. This
question raises the most suspicion, as it makes one really think about whether there is doublespeak
present. The final question what results ties in on the intent. The outcome of the doublespeak will be
different that that of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He explains that the cause of doublespeak is usually to evade making a problematic situation sound
very bad. For example, in 1984 the US State Department announced it would no longer use the word
killing in its annual report on the status of human rights around the world (par. 7). By doing this, it
eludes the readers into believing that the US does not have relations with nations that kill people.
Although the US continues to have relations with nations that kill people, the statements refer to those
nations as those that have unlawful or arbitrary deprivation of life happening instead of murder. This
effect results in tricking the people into false assumptions of the US s relations with other

Compare And Contrast Acquainted With The Night And Catcher...
Throughout American literature, several different authors have valued their own opinions on what
defines an American. Some authors describe Americans as smart, energetic, or even sad or boring. In
the novel The Catcher in The Rye by J.D. Salinger, Holden Caulfield is a troubled teenage boy, who
can never find happiness. In the short story Yellow Wallpaper by Charlotte Perkins Gilman, the
protagonist suffers from postpartum depression causing her to believe that a lady is trapped in
wallpaper. In the poem Acquainted with the Night by Robert Frost, the narrator is experiencing night
again for the first time in several years and explains how different and scary it feels to be back in
society. In the article: Study investigates why sadness ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He is always observing and critiquing what others around him are doing. He often makes fun of these
people. Holden could be jealous or just finds it funny. A bunch of hoodlum looking guys and their
dates. All of them laughing like hyenas at something you could bet wasn t funny. (Salinger 81) Shortly
after critiquing what those people were doing he mentions something sad and relates everything all
back to his true happiness; Phoebe. New York s terrible when somebody laughs on the street very late
at night. You can hear it for miles. It makes you feel so lonesome and depressed. I kept wishing I
could go home and shoot the bull for a while with old Phoebe. (81) The only true person or thing that
does seem to make Holden feel better is thinking about Phoebe. He only feels better with her because
she is one of the only people who can connect with him besides Mr. Antolini, one of Holden s school
teachers. Holden puts himself down so easily that everything around him or something that he hears
has a depressing side to it. Even events that happen near him, make him feel lonely and depressed
even if this event has

Alicia Spencer Research Paper
Words that Inspire
A tall man with graying hair and uneven stubble called out, Does anyone want to present... No? Well
then, Alicia King, please come to the front of your class and begin your presentation.
Alicia stood up from her seat, pushed her chair in, and strode confidently to the front of the room and
began with, Hi, I am Alicia King, and for presentation, I researched Spencer Chen, world renowned
author, and one of my heroes. One of the reasons I chose to write about Spencer is because of her
backstory. (Ordinary World) She was a small town girl living in Maplewood, a town minutes away
from New York City. Spencer resided in a quaint, beige colored house teeming with vibrantly colored
roses. She grew up in a place just like us, in a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
With no means of solving this feeling of insanity, she grabbed her yellow, spiral bound notebook and
began doodling. (Call To Adventure)Slowly, but steadily, this doodling became writing, writing about
nothingness and yet... in its own way everything. She wrote about her favorite tv show, her classes, her
friends till somehow she transitioned to world problems and... somehow that was what was bothering
her. The world. The world where girls could not walk home alone. The world where children were
sold for profit. The world where women are given less of a worth. Soon, this lengthy essay was
minimized to a paragraph. A paragraph with emotion, and heart woven into it. Spencer decided this
paragraph meant so much to her and that this short compilation of words strung together, needed to be
published so that the world knew she was upset with it. In her own adolescent way, that made sense to
her. (Refusal To Meet The Call) Yet, as a seventeen year old she could not quite press publish without
worrying about what her peers would think. (Meeting the Mentor) She worried and contemplated till,

The Red Eyed Tree Frog is a lot more complex than it seems. It contains a third eye lid called the
nictitating membrane. This membrane allows them to shield their eyes from danger while still being
able to see. This is useful when in a mating battle or when being hunted. The coloring of their eyes
also plays a large part in their survival. The bright red causes their predators to second guess the prey
and stuns them to give the Red Eyed Tree Frog a

  • 2. The Success Of A Student Essay Results: Ultimately, this cycle culminated in a better understanding of, and connection with, my students. I felt that this cycle helped me to foster the gradual independence that the school encourages in its students, as we could then collaborate together on problems and recognise successes. Perhaps most importantly, the interest and focus I was able to show each student made the students feel valued and to be more motivated. The students also seemed to demonstrate greater understanding of themselves as learners; for example, the student who was struggling with maths expressed a desire to continue tracking his progress independently. It is important to note that in that case I have the advantage of only working with a class of 6 currently, and I may not be able to use this technique as effectively with a larger class, though I could surely use some variation of it. Though I did have a strong knowledge of students, particularly due to the small size of my class, having a detailed record to which to refer and create feedback helped to deepen this understanding and the quality of feedback. (reference) Cycle 2 Read Appropriate Material on Student Differentiation and Feedback Application Idea: I decided to research and read material on my major points of concern student differentiation and feedback application in my second cycle of my Action Research Plan. • 4. Woodrow Wilson Argumentative Analysis Woodrow Wilson originally took a neutral stance in the First World War but as US foreign economic interest was jeopardized, America made the decision to enter the war. Although some were for the war movement, large segments of the population were unsure about the United States entry. Their doubt was justified when America came into the fighting woefully unprepared. They had a small number of troops and an even smaller number of bullets (Bailey). Due to the lack of men volunteering, the government established a draft which forced the men to fight. In the end, more than 100,000 men died fighting in the Great War. Back at the home front, opposition was still high despite propaganda efforts. Many Americans were dissatisfied by the lack of access to resources that had been available before the war and didn t like the idea of the draft (Chomsky). To silence the dissenters, the government passed the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... German Americans were facing increasing discrimination and violence. Families were targeted by bigoted members of the community and the nation s hysteria was exemplified even in food as hamburgers were changed to liberty meat (Hixson). By the end, the war had cost the American people $110 billion and an income tax that would leave future Americans paying the government for generations (Hess). Franklin Delano Roosevelt spent much of his focus after the Great Depression on the Second World War. Disregarding his isolationist stance, FDR played a major role in the war (Holsti and Rosenau). • 5. Applebee s Evaluation Essay examples Eatin Good in the Neighborhood As my girlfriend and I pull into a crowded parking lot during a chilly Friday evening, we struggle to find a spot of our own, but manage to do so as we take the place of another young couple as they pull out to leave. I put the car in park as we both gaze at the numerous parties walking into the restaurant. A bright sign, hung lit overhead, shining the phrase Applebee s Neighborhood Bar and Grill atop a red brick building. Awnings were placed above every window, and resting on the ground, between each window, was a wooden park bench surrounded by lush, green foliage on either side. The whole place looked as if it had been pulled straight from a friendly neighborhood in the heart of the big apple. I ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I was already pleased with the experience thus far, but it would only get better upon meeting Sheila. Hi guys, welcome to Applebee s, my name s Sheila. I ll be your waitress tonight. Is there anything I can get you guys to drink? A very cliché, and well rehearsed line, but it was pleasantly delivered, and I did in fact feel welcome. She was quick to the table, adding to the speed of the service that we were already receiving. I ordered my usual tall glass of water with a single lemon wedge, and my girlfriend asked for a classic lemonade. She promised that they d be right out, and within minutes, I heard the clinking of ice, as two oversized glasses, dripping with condensation were placed onto our table. Sheila laid down some straws and asked if we were ready to order. I informed her we d be needing a moment, as there were so many menu items, and my mouth watered for such a variety, I needed more time to choose. She smiled and left us to decide as she politely greeted a new party that was walking through the door. I was highly impressed with the staff here. They added to the warm and inviting ambience commonly experienced at Applebee s restaurants, and I was loving every minute of it. Our minds were made up, as I decided to press my luck with one of Applebee s own signature classics, Fiesta Lime Chicken. • 7. Master Craftsmen in the Medieval I like crafts that are made out of necessity because they re a little naive you made it because you needed it. Amy Sedaris. Master craftsmen during the Medieval Ages created items needed for the kingdom to thrive. Craftsmen included candle makers, shoemakers, and farmers, but the most famous craftsmen were blacksmiths, carpenters, and masons. Every type of craftsmen were in groups called guilds and every guild needed to cooperate. If one guild failed to meet its needs, then the whole medieval structure will fail, causing the kingdom to fall. Carpenters, masons, and blacksmiths were important craftsmen in building castles and villages and you had to go through apprenticeship for many years before becoming one of the three master craftsmen. Before becoming a master craftsman, the child started their training at the age of eleven or twelve and became an apprentice. A child would be able to choose his own profession or follow the family business. Some craftsmen that a child can become include: carpenters, masons, and blacksmiths The apprentice would last from five to nine years depending on the trade. He received no wages and could not marry until he was a journeyman. After finishing apprenticeship, the apprentice became a journeyman. A journeyman received money for his labour and bought supplies that he needed. During his own time, he created a Masterpiece and later presented it to his group of craftsmen, or guild, to see if he was ready to be a Master , ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

First off, the size of the farm will strongly determine the longevity of the farm s success. There are several different categories of farms and they all have specific criteria to be part of that category. The broadest of the categories is the small family farm (sales of less than $250,000). Then under this category is several sub categories which comprise of: limited resource farms (gross sales of less than $100,000, total farm assets less than $250,000, and total operator house hold income less than $20,000), retirement farms (small farms with the operator being retired), residential/lifestyle farms (small farms with the operator having a major occupation other than farming), farming occupation/lower sales (sales less than $100,000), farming occupation/higher sales (sales between $100,000 and $249,999). The other types of farms include large family farms and very large family farms. The final category is non family farm; these types of farms are more like corporations and cooperatives. The reason why the size of a farm is so important to the success is that it all depends on the amount of income that is flowing into the farm. The limited resource, retirement, and lifestyle family farms will have a better chance of prolonging its existence because of its off farm income. These types of farms do not need to worry as much about low prices and low yields because of the other source of cash flow. This brings us to the farming occupation with ... • 9. The Change In Modern History Have Been Influenced By Many The change in modern history have been influenced by many factors. Many which have to do with progress, enlightenment, and new inventions. Three key factors that have changed us into a modern society are steam engines , mass production and corporations. The invention of the steam engine, specifically in transportation, has helped this change by helping with speed and efficiency in transportation and businesses and influencing social lives. Another one of the factors of change is Mass production, whether it was positive or negative, has had a huge effect on the transformation to the modern age. It has helped evolve the modern world through economic and social changes such as the dehumanization of workers, the reversed idea of individualism ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The mass production of things affected the skills of the workers because they were no longer doing multiple things in factories. The workers specialized in one part of the process because of the use of assembly lines. Therefore, they didn t have the skills that they would ve had if each person did everything or more than one things. Therefore, they got paid less as a result. The 19th century assembly line also kept the workers working at a fast pace. One worker set the pace for the rest so if one worker slowed down, the entire production was slowed down. This idea was expressed in the movie Metropolis. Also, although it was not a very enlightened concept, the workers were not seen as individuals, they were more of estranged workers and not really important to the factory. They were payed so little and could easily be replaced. Another example where there is no individualism is The Tiller Girls (formed in 1889 by John Tiller). They worked as a group and no individual woman had any special importance to the line, just as the workers in a factory. The Tiller Girls were seen as a mass ornament, which doesn t celebrate individualism. The economic changes made has to do with the the changes made to assembly lines and factories. Workers got paid less since they were not skilled, and since it was at a faster pace there was more production. The faster pace kept everyone in check. Therefore, profit ... • 10. A Short Note On Mission And Mission Of Mars Wei Jiang ESS 102 Instructor: Erika Harnett November 18, 2016 Manned Mission to Mars The year is 2045, a time when the earth is in great turmoil. Tsunamis, hurricanes, tornadoes, droughts, famines... all the impacts of global warming are just starting to disrupt life. Europe and North America are experiencing immigration in unprecedented numbers, neither because the migrants are escaping persecution, conflicts and wars in their countries, nor because they are pursuing economic prospects; but because they can no longer survive the high temperatures in their countries. Europe and North America have become too warm for their inhabitants but just the right temperature for migrants from South America, the Middle East, Africa and South Asia to survive. But the problem is not just global warming and migration there is a more frightening threat, one that could turn the entire Earth s crust upside down Nuclear War. All political and diplomatic negotiations have failed, leaving war as the last resort. There is not a single safe spot on earth to escape to. There is only one option left a place outside earth, a different planet Mars. The possibility of relocation to Mars comes as big relief to people on earth, but there is one problem not everybody can go. The mission is too expensive for ordinary people. Only billionaires and politicians who have stolen (and are still stealing) funds that belong to their states can afford it. However, the good news for a few lucky people is ... • 11. Effects Of Flowers With Scent Versus Flowers Effects of Flowers with Scent Versus Flowers without Scent on Insect Activity Flower communities are an example of a limited ecosystem that vary from one to another based on species of flower as well as microclimate differences. The main component of a flower community is the flowering plant itself. This plant is the main dictator of all activity in the community. Other aspects of this limited ecosystem include the species that interact with this plant and the resources it provides. These species may then also interact with each other influencing aspects of the ecosystem such as species behavior, resource abundance, and competition (Watt, 1947). As a community the flowering plant and organisms are also affected by microclimate ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The flower is in bloom from September to November in habitats with relatively dry soils receiving little sunlight. Although the flowers do not produce a scent, they do provide a nectar source and are known to attract butterflies. It is also know to be a plant that attracts predatory insects that prey upon pest insects the same as the Sweet Everlasting ( Pseudognaphalium obtusifolium). Additionally, it is of special value to pollinators, and known to attract large numbers of native bees ( Native Plant Database, n.d.). The ability of both of these flower communities to exist in similar habitats makes them ideal for comparing differences in insect activity without the influence of outside factors such as temperature, light, and humidity. Both flower communities are also known to attract similar species, which allows the quantity of species visiting one site to be easily compared to the quantity of species visiting the other site. This is essential because the study aims to determine whether the property of scent, characteristic of the Sweet Everlasting (Pseudognaphalium obtusifolium), had an effect on the amount of species interacting with each flower community. If certain species are attracted to scent, then the sweet everlasting will attract larger numbers of species than the white aster (Symphyotrichum ericoides). His illness did not readily pose a direct threat to anyone nor was he physically violent to those around him. Once they are out of high school and met with reality, they realize that it s hard moving out right after high school. This project has helped me open my eyes to what would happen. Finding a job right after high school in Porterville was a struggle because most jobs require going through college. I also wanted a job that would provide me with enough money to live alone and support how I live, but that was a struggle. Houses were expensive, along with the fact that most well paid jobs required more than I would have been able to offer. • 17. Hard Bop Essay Though I was introduced to numerous styles of Jazz this semester, each with their own merits, I will cover the phenomenon of Hard bop in this paper. I believe that hard bop is a style unlike any other, and it deserves more recognition. Though it only reached its height of commercial success through the 1950 s and 1960 s, I hope that it will be revived one day, as I believe it to be one of the greatest styles in Jazz history. Understanding hard bop involves understanding the cultural roots that spurred its development. In the 1930 s, big Swing bands such as the Count Basie Orchestra dominated the Jazz scene. It was a style that had a feeling of joy and freedom, in a time when the economy was in poor shape. The music served an important purpose ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Miles Davis is one highly significant musician of the hard bop period. Known as the great innovator of Jazz, he was not known solely for hard bop, but rather numerous styles. Old bebop stars were featured in this album, with Kenny Clarke on the drums and Horace Silver on the piano. The album has the form of a 12 bar blues, and happens to be another obvious Jazz standard. Douglas Payne of All About Jazz explains the pure masterful skill of Miles Davis, saying Throughout, Davis sounds grand: comfortable, authoritative and well within his gamely element. • 18. The Appropriate Court For This Lawsuit The appropriate court for this lawsuit depends upon several factors. Three important considerations include the following: Personal jurisdiction which allows courts to have jurisdiction over both the plaintiff and defendant in a case. Specific to corporations, personal jurisdiction only applies in the state in which the company does business, is incorporated and has it principle office. In Margolin s suit, personal jurisdiction would not apply because although the company does business in the state of New York, both Novelty Now and Funny Faces are not incorporated or have principle offices in this state. Subject matter jurisdiction allows a court the authority to only hear case that are in regards to a specific topic. Although restrictive in its ability to hear cases based on the topic, subject matter jurisdiction can specialize in a specific case type. Courts such as tax, federal claims and bankruptcy are examples courts which have subject matter jurisdiction. In reference to the case study, subject matter jurisdiction could possibly apply. Since Margolin suit claims negligence on the parts of Novelty Now and Funny Faces for using PYR in their product the case could be heard in a federal claims court. The violation of FDA regulations makes the case a stronger candidate for this type of venue. • 24. How Did The Indian Removal Act Under President Jackson... Jake Vertin TA: Andrew Dial HIST 211 Fall 2014 In what ways did the Indian Removal act under President Jackson help establish a new interpretation of democracy and a movement away from revolutionary era republicanism? Andrew Jackson: The Era of the Common Man at the Expense of the Other The essential question of the Jacksonian period in American history should not be focused on slavery, nor on western migration of native tribes (as important, relevant, and controversial as these topics are). It is true that his administration did try to hide and dismiss slavery, and it is also true that in the manner of its execution the policy of Indian removal was a horror. However, the fundamental question surrounding his presidency revolves around how the doctrines of democracy replaced the doctrines of republicanism. Indeed, Jackson had a powerful contribution to American political history. The Jacksonian Era actually changed the goal of the Founding Fathers to put more power into the presidency rather than in congress. His commitment to the federal structure, states rights, and a severely limited central government, all accounted for in his policy of Indian removal are Jackson s greatest contributions and resulted in the development of modern democracy in the United States. • 25. The Long Term Effectiveness Of Prolonged Exposure Therapy Literature Review Existing controlled examinations of intervention efficacy specific to only sexual assault and rape are presently minimal in comparison to intervention examinations of combination or other types of trauma (Regehr, Alaggia, Dennis, Pitts, Saini, 2013). Psychotherapeutic interventions that fail to differentiate sexual assault and rape victims from other types of trauma victims may decrease the treatment effectiveness or inadvertently harm participants in this subgroup. Trauma associated from rape or sexual assault differs from other forms of trauma and treatment efficacy should be examined in this manner. Trauma from rape or sexual assault entail symptoms of PTSD, depression, suicidal ideations and sexual dysfunction. Individuals may also indicate feelings of vulnerability, loss of control, fear, shame, self blame, societal blame and stigma (Russell Davis, 2007; Regehr et al., 2013; Ullman Peter Hagene, 2014). This research proposal intends to explore the long term effectiveness of Prolonged Exposure Therapy (PE) at reducing distress and trauma explicitly for adult victims of sexual assault and rape. Prolonged exposure (PE) is a specific exposure therapy program that derives from Emotional Processing Theory (EPT). The idea of emotional processing is to interpret realistic information and accommodate that information into a fear structure which in turn diminishes the fear (Foa, 2011). • 27. Analysis Of The World Of Doublespeak By William Lutz In the essay The World of Doublespeak , by William Lutz, the author gives the reader four different questions to help one identify doublespeak. According to Lutz these questions are, who is saying what to whom, under what conditions and circumstances, with what intent, and with what results? (par. 4). These questions help to distinguish between truthful language and doublespeak. The first question, who is saying what to whom? focuses on the relationship between the two people. The chance of doublespeak being present increases greatly when the two people have a negative, or passive aggressive, relationship. The next question, under what conditions and circumstances? focuses on the events of what is going on. This question shows up prominently in events such as political rallies and debates. The third question, with what intent focuses on the underlying goal of the statement. This question raises the most suspicion, as it makes one really think about whether there is doublespeak present. The final question what results ties in on the intent. The outcome of the doublespeak will be different that that of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... By doing this, it eludes the readers into believing that the US does not have relations with nations that kill people.
