The Real Slumdog s Documentary
a. Globalization/pg. 29: The growing interconnections among nations due to the expansion of
capitalism
The Real Slumdog s documentary was very interesting and eye opening. The amount of businesses
that are run in the one square mile area of Dharavi affect the entire capitalism of the world. Look at it
this way, the Slumdog s as they re called make crappy money to make some very intricate products.
These products will be shipped from Mumbai to the rest of the world eventually. As the products are
marked up by middle men, the money does not filter its way back to the Dharavi slum. Thus, the
products might be ten dollars in a store, but initially the slum workers get paid barely anything and do
not get to see the profit that they could. These people work to survive. Mumbai is a very intricate and
bustling city, and has a large amount of money and products moved through it each day. In the inner
city though, it is not as cheap to make the products. There also are not the massive amounts of laborers
that are found in Dharavi. Moving away from product production we can look at the dumps of
Dharavi. A large amount of the trash from the inner city is sent to the slum to be processed. The
workers that sort through the trash are called rag pickers. The rag pickers make very little money for
what they do, but the work that they do is very important. They separate the waste into different
categories to be processed and recycled accordingly. They separate the metals from plastics, and

Piette s House At Montafoucault
The painting Piette s House at Montfoucault is a piece of impressionism and landscape art. In the
painting, it shows a someone s house in the winter time, two people standing in front of it, and many
trees in front of it. It was painted by Camille Pissarro, during the winter of 1874, when he visited his
friend, Ludovic Piette Montfoucault s house. It was painted with oil paints and is currently residing at
the Sterling and Francine Clark Art Institute.
The art has many different textures, colours/values, and lines. The lines are all thin and broken or
curved, except for the tree trunks which are thick and straight and the lines around the houses, which
are straight. The lines do not outline the objects. The textures around the trees, the snow, and the
humans all feel very soft, however, around the houses, where they look rough and look like if you
were to touch it, it would feel like real bricks. The painting is mainly made up of white, and bright
colours, with some darker colours at the areas with shade, the leaves of the trees, and the roofs of the
houses. The colours make the painting look realistic, and it makes it seem like the place is cold. The
form in this painting is 3D. The artist used these elements, to make it so you feel like you are actually
there, or it is just a blurred photograph. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When I see it, it makes me feel happy and calm. It reminds me of the winters we have in Canada and
makes me think about the time in December, January ,and February. The artwork is about the winter at
a place in France. I want to know if the place he painted still looks the same today, and if I could ask a
question, I would ask Who are the people in the painting? . The relationships between all the
individual parts of the work are that it is a real place. Without all the individual things, it wouldn t be
realistic and wouldn t look as

Analysis on a Modest Proposal
English Commentary Digression
A modest proposal by Jonathan Swift is a rhetoric piece that satirizes the dismal political, social and
economic conditions in 18th century Ireland. As a solution, the preposterous proposal suggests that the
Irish eat their own babies; as it is logically viable, and economically profitable: a condition adhering to
the rational mentality of the age of reason. Swift develops his argument on two levels: A seemingly
intellectual persona, caricaturized on a stereotypical upper class Englishman who promotes
cannibalism through the use of subtle euphemisms. And the other, as himself, cleverly veiled in the
caustic undertones of the pamphlet who is appalled at the plight of the Irish. Swift uses this dual ...

The trustworthiness of the persona is further questioned, as he justifies himself by Psalmanazar
(another authority), who is known to be a fraud.
The persona uses the form of a ceremonial speech to dress his proposal, disgracing the condition of
the Irish, in light of his visionary idea. The features of a speech as such would include strategic
procatalepsis [1] (some scrupulous people might be apt to censure such a practice, although very
unjustly indeed) adopted by the persona, to disillusion the reader into believing he has taken into
consideration all possible objections; reflective of him being both well researched and reasonable. To
an extent the sophistry[2] achieved in this extract through double negatives, It is not improbable
confuses the reader into agreement with the persona. This is further complemented by his tone of
matter of fact seriousness, veiling the actual absurdity of the proposal. On a literal level, these
persuasive tactics establish him as credible. However, Swift s deriding undertones expose them as an
obvious hoax to sway the audience.
It is at this point the audience realizes that the proposal is a satire, as the persona confidently refers to
then current events of known unreliability to assure his credence. Swift uses this irony to reveal the
persona as a sham, and hence awaken the audience to the reality, that the proposal is not meant to be
taken seriously.

Black History Importance Essay
Black History Importance The time has come again to celebrate the achievements of all black men and
women who have chipped in to form the Black society. There are television programs about the
African Queens and Kings who never set sail for America, but are acknowledged as the pillars of our
identity. In addition, our black school children finally get to hear about the history of their ancestors
instead of hearing about Columbus and the founding of America. The great founding of America
briefly includes the slavery period and the Antebellum south, but readily excludes both black men and
women, such as George Washington Carver, Langston Hughes, and Mary Bethune. These men and
women have contributed greatly to American society. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Black Americans should be acknowledged for not only their contributions to American society, but
also for being a part of American society and upholding the traditions and values of this country.
Black History Month should not be a celebration that comes and goes in our own minds and homes.
Black History Month should not be a remembrance that is acknowledged only when the official day
begins. Black History Month is an accomplishment that we should be proud of in the Black
community. Carter G. Woodson chose the month of February for some important reasons. For
instance, Black History Month marks the birthdays of two men who influenced the black population,
Frederick Douglass and Abraham Lincoln according to Woodson. In addition, the Fifteenth
Amendment was passed on February 3, 1870, which granted blacks the right to vote. There were a lot
of significant reasons for allowing Black History Week to begin in February. However, I seriously
doubt if Woodson would have accepted the extension of this week in the shortest month of the year.
Woodson chose a week in February, because it had symbolic significance. Black History Week began
in 1926. However, it is now 1999 and in seventy three years Black Americans allowed our
contributions to American society to be extended from Negro History Week to Black History

Book Report On The Band Aid
It was the craziest thing, Mom, Rhonda said, sitting next to me.
I nodded. I agree. I d been quiet the whole time.
Then I started from the beginning. Telling her mom and dad everything that happened and how fast it
happened. I think they felt sorry for my dad when I told them about the demon. I felt sorry for him,
too, in a way.
Jesus will have to come to me in full sun for me to ever let you return to that house, Rhonda s mom
declared.
Rhonda smiled. I told you.
You were right.
Rhonda looked at me in mock shock. Say it again so I can record it. She fumbled with her phone.
I rolled my eyes.
I can t wait to see Alex s face tomorrow when he sees you, Rhonda said.
I touched the band aid. He ll be fine.
I guess we ll see just how much resolve he s got. She smiled devilishly.
Rhonda s mom slid a drink over to me Someone tell me what s going on.
Rhonda seemed to enjoy telling her the plan. The corners of Mrs. Wallace s eyes smiled.
I see his plan failing the moment you walk in the door, she said looking at me. That boy is in love with
you. When you love someone all sanity just oozes out of your ears. She laughed looking at Seamus.
Seamus walked up behind his wife and planted a kiss on her cheek. Sanity is overrated.
She patted his hand. I bet lunch is ready.
After we ate, Seamus stretched out in his recliner and took a nap.
Mrs. Wallace had a different idea. She herded me and Rhonda into the van and we went shopping for
paint. I had no idea

The American Revolution And The Revolution
The American Revolution, think you know everything about? You don t, as much as the soldiers that

the victory the Americans had over the British, in the American Revolution. It was ordinary citizens
that saved the revolution and don t get credit for it. Espionage, intelligence was the key to winning the
revolution. With the help of spies, invisible ink, misinformation, codes, ordinary citizens, including
women, and lots of courage the members of the Culper Spy Ring saved the revolution and helped the

While Washington is known for his honesty, he was okay with spreading misinformation, when it

Self confidence plays such an important role in our life on a daily basis. Most of the time we just go
on with your day without ever thinking about how confident we feel about ourselves that is, until we
re faced with a huge decision or we need to perform a certain task and expect to do it well.
So creating a solid mindset to feel completely confident anytime and anywhere becomes a very
important quality that we can apply to most situations before they ever occur, thus making those
challenging moments so much easier to contend with and to help us feel better about them.
For most of us, trying just one method to gain confidence and maintain a confident mindset doesn t
always prove to be the best solution, but using a combination of several techniques may provide
exactly the key outcome to successfully achieve our ultimate goal.
Here are 10 strategies to the solutions that can be used alone, or in a combination to create or change
your mindset to gain the self confidence you deserve. (not necessarily in

Robber Barons Dbq Essay
Throughout the late 19th century, several men such as John Rockefeller, Andrew Carnegie, and
Cornelius Vanderbilt built empires in railroad construction, coal mining, and the oil industry. These
industrial leaders helped the economy flourish and created a leading industrial power in the world.
After a while, critics began to question their power and objective. Critics began to call them robber
barons for their selfish and corrupted techniques. While they took advantage of careless government
regulation and no income tax, they generated huge business that benefited the country. They employed
many people and provided critical goods and services. There is a small margin to justify the
characterizations of a robber baron for the leading industrialists of the late 19th century, but more as
captains of their respective industries. Industrialists and business men were philanthropists at these
times. Andrew Carnegie published an excerpt that largely influenced many wealthy entrepreneurs ...

reason why no one bought it. When he found a way to manufacture steel cheaper, he knew this was
going to impact the world immensely. Now with cheaper steel, many buildings were created, thus
creating populous cities with many skyscrapers and paving the way for cities. Philanthropists made the

Performance of Firefighters it is evident that fire department personnel that put an emphasis on
communal interaction have an improved performance level, and higher job satisfaction. The idea of
eating and preparing meals together as a shift in the fire service was studied through this documented

of team building and an important aspect to improving motivation. It allows for an informal
communication setting as well as encouraging member participation. The presentation supported the
benefits found in Brett s presentation and showed the use of an everyday activity to work on team
improvement. The only missing element of this presentation was a clear incorporation of the week s

Differences In The Culture Of Honduras And The Dominican...
Honduras and Dominican Republic Culture
Honduras and The Dominican Republic are said to be almost the same culture because of similarities
in their cultures. Although many may think they are the same because they are both spanish speaking
countries but they are actually wrong. They are so far from each other but they do have similarities
like in there holidays, clothing and even in their foods. Although they have their similarities they are
own unique in their own way of doing things. This differences make people proud of their culture
because it s means they are different from others. They do have differences in like the way they dress,
the way they celebrate and the way they prepare their food. This things make people proud of their
country and the cultures it s given them. Keeping this in mind when you read the rest of the essay you
will see the similarities and the differences. They are different in their own ways.

Historically, dance has been going on forever with male involvement. Research shows that during the
renaissance times males participating in dance was, nothing but normal. They almost outshined the
females in the system of dance as a whole. But, at a specific time in history the gender roles of dance
changed. It was now up to women to lead the system of dance, bringing men down to the bottom of
the dance chain. Slowly as this change occurred in the system of dance it became out of place for
males to pursue a career in dance and more normal for males to participate only in sports. Research
states Dance study has always been seen as an appropriate and viable career path for girls, but often
not for boys. (Risner) This became the public eyes perception of male enrollment in dance. The public
started just associating the word dance with girl. Boys that pushed back on the system even when they

John Stuart Mills Act Utilitarianism
The choices people make on a daily basis have consequences, good or bad. Most people want their
choices to have good consequences, but these consequences may benefit either themselves or
everyone. This is the thinking of a utilitarian. Utilitarians want to make the choice with the most
benefit to people as a whole, and they try to eliminate the bad consequences (Nathanson). Utilitarians
are followers of the moral philosophy utilitarianism. Jeremy Bentham and John Stuart Mills created a
moral philosophy where the action itself is weighed against the effects of the action, and act and rule
utilitarians determine which action is more beneficial in different ways. The history of utilitarianism
starts before Bentham and Mills, but these thinkers ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Their differences lie in how they evaluate the actions that have the most benefit. The act utilitarians
believe that whenever we are deciding what to do, we should perform the action that will create the
greatest net utility while rule utilitarians believe we should judge particular moral rules by seeing
whether their acceptance into our moral code would produce more well being than other possible
rules. (Nathanson). Their differences can be associated with the different principles in Utilitarianism,
Bentham s Principle of Utility and Mill s Greatest Happiness Principle. Act utilitarians base their
evaluation on Bentham s principle and rule utilitarians base their evaluation on Mill s principle. Act
utilitarians stress the importance of dealing with each moral problem individually, and posing a
solution that will work with that specific case (Nathanson). An example of this is the assassination of
Abraham Lincoln. The assassination is not a type of action, it is an individual action with its own
effects. Rule utilitarians stress that rules are necessary to deal with specific types of actions such as
killing or stealing (Nathanson). Rule utilitarians have a similar belief to the justice system today. Rule
utilitarianism is demonstrated in Fyodor Dostoyevsky s novel Crime and Punishment. In the novel, the
main character, Raskolnikov, murders an old pawnbroker with the thought that the murder would
benefit society. This is rule utilitarianism because the act of murder is a type of action and the focus of
the novel is to see the effects of the murder. That type of thinking is in line with rule utilitarian ideas.
Despite their differences, they both believe the basic principle of utilitarianism, the overall aim in
evaluating actions should be to create the best results possible

seen in famous tourists spots and rural areas. Therefore to bring back the reminiscences on how
Spaniards used to travel around Philippines, it is highly recommendable to hire a Kalesa while touring
Intramuros depending on the budget. Kalesa are considered to be more expensive than the pedicabs
nevertheless it can accommodate more people depending on their sizes. The price range varies from
350 pesos to 600 pesos for that reason its better to negotiate with the driver/kutchero before starting
the tour as some of them rip off their passengers (Ahab, 2010). These kutcheros have a quite

riding a Kalesa .

John Bowlby And John Bowlby s Attachment Theory
This study focused on the Attachment theory in which it is stated how attachment is a deep and
enduring emotional bond that connects one person to another across time and space (Ainsworth, 1973;
Bowlby, 1969).
Attachment theory is a theory that s connected to psychology, studied first by John Bowlby. It explains
the relevance of getting attached to something in an individual s development. It is observed among
children relying on their parents for stability, and that there is an existing need for them due to such
reliance.
The attachment theory is most commonly observed in the parent child scenario, as it is in Bowlby s
study which regarded the existence of the attachment as a child needing some sort of person to give
them a security and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Breaking or disrupting of the attachment figure during the critical two year period would lead to the
child possibly suffering irreversible long term consequences of this maternal deprivation. Risks
continuing till the age of five.
Bowlby used the term maternal deprivation , referring to separation of loss of the mother and failure to
develop an attachment. The main idea stating simply that the first few years of an infant is critical and
separation or disruption can leave effects on the child.
The third point is that the long term consequences of maternal deprivation might consist of
delinquency, reduced intelligence, increased aggression, depression and affectionless psychopathy.
The last being an inability to show affection or concern towards others, for example a lack of guilt for
anti social behavior.
The fourth point comes from Robertson as well as Bowlby (1952), in which they believe that short
term separation from attachment figure leads to distress. They discovered 3 progressive stages for
distress, Protest, Despair and

What Is Medgar Evers Discrimination
Medgar Evers
Discrimination has been a major conflict throughout history and have impacted our society nowadays.
People do discriminate against each other, whether by actions, hurtful words, and many ways, and so
we needed someone to stand up for our rights. Countless African Americans have changed our society
for the best but here is one that I really admired, and his name is Medgar Evers.
Medgar Evers was born on July 2ed, 1925, in Decatur, Mississippi. After being raised up in a farming
family, Evers joined the United States Army in 1943. He combated in each, France as well as
Germany during World War II earlier, then receiving an honorable discharge in 1946. In 1948, he
entered Alcorn Agricultural and Mechanical College in Lorman, Mississippi.

Elephantiasis Disease
There is no vaccine or cure for lymphatic filariasis. Diethylcarbamazine (DEC), Albendazole and
Ivermectine are drugs used for people seeking prevention or already suffer from Lymphatic Filariasis.
The treatment help reduce microfilariae in human. People diagnosed with the disease require taking
DEC for a long period of time. The medication can kill adult worms slowly. People at risk of getting
the disease take the medication annually such as Albendazole 400 mg combined with Ivermectin 200

This will reduce the swelling of the infected limbs and will help prevent further swelling. Also
washing the affected area with soap and water, then drying it and applying antibacterial and antifungal
cream, this step is done on a daily bases, it will prevent bacterial or fungal infection. Patients with
elephantiasis are prone to infections due to their damaged lymphatic system. Therefore it is important
to prevent any infections from spreading because the immune system cannot fight any infections
(Hoerauf 980). In Nepal there are clinics that use herbal remedies to help reduce the appearance of the
inflamed area like essential oils of Lavender, tea tree, Thyme, Lemon Balm, Calendula and Arnica.
These herbal remedies are mixed with distilled water to wash the surface of the skin and used to make
a paste to apply on top of the skin: And then wrapped using pressure bandages for compression. This
procedure can help calm the inflamed cite and reduce any microbial contamination that causes
irritation of the skin. This technique has shown good results. In some sever cases, medical therapy by
itself is not enough and performing surgery or radiation therapy may be more beneficial for effected
patients. For example, in cases where the male genitals have been affected, a reconstructive procedure
is done on the penis and scrotum to remove tumorous and infected tissues. These types of surgery

Gender Equality And Gender Discrimination Essay
Gender equality? Is it really a time in modern day age when women are considered to be equal to men
or do women still have a long way to go? Throughout history men have been the dominant gender and
women have been thought to be less than the man. Men have held positions of power and authority
while women have hidden in the shadows of men. In the 21st century, women have made great strides
in attempts to be treated equally as men but are still treated differently. This modern day society
believes gender equality exists but in reality, there is clearly an inequality amongst people creating
negative stereotype gender roles, sexually degrading and gender discrimination towards women. The
21st century has seen a dramatic shift in traditional family dynamics and has pulled apart gender role
divisions. During World War II men dutifully joined the military and women went to work in the
factories, taking on occupations that were traditionally held by men. When the war ended, women
returned to their traditional roles as wives and mothers (Winograd, 2016). Women began to realize that
they too, can carry out roles of the men. As the years began to change so did the thoughts and ideas of
women. Women now believe that men and women should be treated as equals, and women have every
right to be in the position of traditional men roles. Winograd (2016) explains that women are refusing
to accept any restrictions based on their gender...on what they might be allowed to do and what

Analysis Of The Movie Last Year
Last year, the Hollywood film Noah was released. Obviously I was intrigued, so I called up my Pastor
and some friends and planned to go to the cinema to see it. As many sources claimed, I can agree that
this is certainly one of the least Biblical, Biblical films ever made. Of course the actual story of Noah
in the bible is not very long, so it was to be expected that the producers would add some filler
Hollywood action, but how much of Noah is actually based on the text that appears in the Old
Testament, and how much is fantastical movie magic? Just like the Old Testament, the film starts at
the very beginning. Noah tells his children the story of creation and almost stays true to the Genesis
story of creation. To begin I will explore the characters presented in the film and the original story.
The movie introduces two groups of people, Lemech and Noah the good guys and Tubal Cain and his
people, the evil men, who are of course descendants of Cain, which is consistent with the Old
Testament. Later, the character Methuselah is introduced, Noah s grandfather. He lives on the top of a
mountain and for some reason has a constant craving for berries (The Bible says nothing about this
strange detail). He also seems to posses some mystical powers. Methuselah isn t mentioned much in
the Bible, but he is the oldest documented person mentioned in the book. Lemech, Noah s father, is
only brought up in the Bible for genealogy purposes. The movie on the other hand shows that

How Tall Do You Have to Be To Dunk
Are you ready to dunk?
Ask yourself that question and you might be taken aback. That question is so simple, but pregnant

resolution about dunking than worry too much, about how tall I should be to dunk. If you are indeed
ready, you can dunk successfully, regardless of your height. If that s understood, let s go on and prove
this.
During my research, I discovered that many people are very much concerned about their height and

In another circumstance, we could have given you a straight answer and not bother to write this long

believe that you have to be 6 feet tall before you can dunk. However, there has been a plethora of
shorter people, often at the 5 feet range dunking successfully.
Consequently, the important thing to note is that if you are 6 tall, you will find that learning how to
dunk will be much more easier for you than if you are shorter. But that does not mean other people
who are shorter than that cannot dunk successfully. I hope you grasp my point here.
Websites like http://www.vertshock.com teaches all kinds of people how to dunk without specifying

My Personal And Professional Branding
Critical Elements My personal and professional branding are the same: being passionate about not
limiting myself by my thoughts or actions, I am here to push the boundaries with those around me.
This may sound simple, but there is a lot that goes into it. Building a network of strong, confident
people is the key to being successful. My goal is to keep building these professional relationships as
well as in my personal life with the help of social media and goal setting. For my professional
branding, I am seeking others who are successful in the digital advertising industry. If I am able to
connect with these individuals, it will help to make me more successful by learning from them.
However, I want our relationship to go both ways, we learn from each other and communicate openly.
If I know my client works with a network, I am unable to connect with hopefully they can get me in
the door and I can give them the referral business. My personal branding is very similar. I want to
surround myself with people who are motivated or have positivity as a goal. If they need
encouragement, I am there to help them. The stronger and more successful they become, the better I
feel about myself. Someday, they will help to encourage me to never stop being the best I can be. It is
give and take. Working on my social media networking opens up more doors. I use LinkedIn,
Facebook, Twitter and Instagram as my main platforms. LinkedIn works great for my professional
branding, without it I

Queer Culture
In today s media, it is no longer unusual to see queers in the spotlight whether that is in TV shows, in
celebrity news, or even in advertisements. This definitely seems like a big win for the LGBTQ
movement on the surface but is society actually accepting of queer culture? A prominent big win for
activists was the legalization of gay marriage in 2015. However, many queer studies scholars are
skeptical of the mainstream LGBTQ movement s focus on marriage rights because it is based on
homonormative politics that continues to uphold oppressive institutions and because it does not tackle
the actual underlying social issues. Instead of focusing on marriage, activists should prioritize building
coalitions based on community values and intersectionality and strive for radical change rather than

Along with this, heteronormative institutions, like marriage and the nuclear family structure, are
increasingly being held up as a vision of the good life (Berlant and Warner 173). Not only is this belief
deeply rooted in hetero norms, it also rejects the existence of intimacies outside the nuclear family
structure. Thus, queer public cultures, like Christopher Street in Manhattan, are needed to provide a
space for intimacies outside of marriage, such as girlfriends, gal pals, fuckbuddies, and tricks (Berlant
and Warner 175). Queer public spaces are thus needed to validate unconventional intimacies and to
elaborate a public world of belonging and transformation (Berlant and Warner 175). However, with
the rise of neoliberalism, which diverts from the more transformative ideas for a politically centered
approach, some queer activists, most prominently, the Independent Gay Forum, are opting for less
radical changes. Lisa Duggan coins this as homonormativity, a politics that does not contest dominant

Technological developments have to such an outbreak in Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs), they are
used in a wide variety of today s industrial and consumer applications and holds limitless future
potentials for any type of ambience surveillance, hence fault tolerance in WSNs which are easily
prone to failure, is crucial. WSN s comprised of tiny sensor devices (sensor nodes) and the wireless

1. Introduction The sensor nodes in a Wireless Sensor Network (WSN) are used for surveillance of
ambient environment, which can be unpredictable. The sensor nodes are often exposed to harsh
surroundings, which could lead to many problems like failure of the sensing unit, radio transceiver,
and processors; not just that, also sensor node death occurs due to energy crunch eventually. So it s
understood that faults directly affect the network lifetime of a Wireless Sensor Network. Wireless
Sensor Network Lifetime means the time period required for the network to function with the
collective effort of sensors even if some of the nodes have failed. When this percentage of failed nodes
increases, fault prevention and avoidance strategies are needed to be applied to improve reliability and
performance of the network. A reliable WSN yields accurate results. For fault tolerance in WSN,
maintenance of a consistent quality of service (QoS) is necessary. Also energy efficiency comes into
picture, which is a difficult task to achieve.
There are also some software failures related to the operating system or embedded programs in the
sensor. WSN has a tolerance level that defines the capacity it would have to deal with the various
faults of the sensors. The degree of tolerance depends on the three

The Arch Of Titus, An Architectural Monument And Sculpture...
The Arch of Titus is an architectural monument and sculpture constructed around c. 79 81 CE. by
Domitian in the Forum Romanum, Rome, notable on the plaza for its huge scale and central position.
The arch includes three outstandingly elaborated reliefs, two on both passages, which depict the
martial victory of Rome under the leading of the Roman emperor Titus, and one on the vault, which
displays Titus carried by an eagle to the heaven. The monumental, geometric arch and the detailed,
naturalistic reliefs guide the viewers not only to approach the arch from a distance, but also to pass
through it, and immerse them in the scene of Rome s military triumph and the glory of the arch and its
subject Titus.
The material, Pentelic marble, suggests the dignity of the subject matter and the permanence of its
presence. It is a type of white marble with a faint hue of yellow that makes this material shine with
golden light under sunlight, associating the architecture with the qualities of loftiness and integrity. In
addition, Pentelic marble has the qualities of persistence and gravitas, and therefore the arch is in a
relatively unimpaired condition except that the panel reliefs were damaged permanently in the
eleventh century when the Frangipani family integrated it into a fortress. Later in nineteenth century,
Giuseppe Valadier restored the damaged part with a different type of material, Valadier, to differentiate
the original part of the arch from the later restored portion.

Palpatine Freewill Analysis
What is freewill ? Freewill is the ability for us and only us as humans to control our faith and to a
certain extent, our destiny. Without the attribute of freewill our lives would become very simple and
meaningless, with no end goal to our lives. Did God create suffering so we could choose between
good and evil? As children of God, He gave us the power of freewill at birth, whether to be upright or
malicious. He gave us the choice to be blissful and go to Heaven or to sin and suffer then go to Hell.
Suffering is a key component in every aspect of freewill. Without suffering freewill would not exist.

Anakin had the freewill to choose his fate, but he did what he thought he had to do. To Anakin,

the only way he could become free is by being able to save Padme from dying and Palpatine could

he had sworn to protect. Suffering is portrayed in the repercussions for Anakin s use of freedom of

caused great amounts of suffering to be dealt. Now Anakin has to live with the consequences of all the
sins that he committed including, the mass killing of children and other Jedi in the Temple, choking
Padme into unconsciousness which ultimately leads to her death during birth, betraying his Jedi

American Dream Vs American Dream
Climbing the ladder of upward social mobility to attain the highly acclaimed American Dream could
be rather simple if everyone started off on an even playing field, but reality is some start off in a hole
of despair. As defined by Mexican immigrants in East Los Angeles, the American Dream construct
through which the United States is portrayed as the Land of Opportunity promises immigrants the
chance to level up socioeconomically via education, employment, and ethnic or cultural revitalization.
Such promise has become a source of disappointment for many. Others still believe this goal is
realistic, and therefore achievable. Scholastic discourses have attempted to address this controversy,
but have failed to do so. Perhaps because many scholars are fixated on the idea that homeownership is
central to the American Dream. However, in transitory urban centers, residents often prefer to rent
rather than buy. Thus, this definition of the American dream is outdated in today s modern urban
context. Here, I propose a more suitable definition through which to look at the function that the
American Dream has in predominantly Latino poor urban neighborhoods. I define the American
Dream as the upward movement from one tier to another in a socially stratified society. With this in
mind, I will attempt to answer the following; Is the American Dream feasible for the Mexican
immigrant community in East Los Angeles? If so, what is the relationship between the American
Dream and the culture

Advantages and Disadvantages of Easily Obtainable Information The rise of technology has shaped
our generation in so many ways. As a child, I remember going to the library and checking out books
when I had a paper or project due for class. As I got older the need for finding books or publications
for research purposes decreased considerably. As I entered middle school, a class was being taught on
computer literacy, and looking back on that class I see how important it was to get started early. I can
only recall one time in the last three years where I stepped foot into a public library, and that was to
place my vote for the 2016 presidential election. The fact that I can hop on my phone, and search
anything I could possibly want to know about, and that information be displayed in a matter of
seconds is an amazing and wonderful thing. The downside to the capability of information at your
fingertips is that it causes people (including myself) to be lazy. Vocabulary and literacy levels are
lower now, because you don t have to read several books to find what you are looking for. I loved
reading for pleasure when I was younger, and still do, but that was because I was required to read
more to find answers to questions. Siri and Google have almost eliminated the need to do such
research.

Supine Positions Essay
According to Leah Albers, Certified Nurse Midwife, three quarters of all of the deliveries are
performed with women in a supine position, or lying on their backs (Keen, DiFranco, Amis, Albers,
2004). However, as evidenced throughout history women across all cultures have used both upright
and gravity neutral or supine positions to give birth to their babies. Before the introduction of the
forceps in the 17th century, women were rarely shown to be giving birth in a supine position. Earlier
in history women were encouraged to give birth guided by their own inner wisdom in a position that
was most comfortable for them; a position which was rarely lying on their back (Keen et al., 2004).

The implementation of this routine tradition has been linked to a lack of education of the nurses of the
various benefits of upright birthing positions and thus deficient knowledge of the mothers on their
different options for positioning during delivery. Furthermore, research has determined that upright
positions for delivery, such as squatting and sitting, yield more positive outcomes physically and
psychologically for the mother and the baby than gravity neutral supine positions. Nurses and other
obstetric medical professionals are reluctant to change their ways of practice because of barriers to
obtaining such knowledge related to their scope of practice. It is the job of the nursing managers on
the unit to educate their floor nurses on the benefits of upright delivery positions and the more
detrimental effects of supine delivery positions so their patients can have full knowledge and control
of the birthing process when deciding on a birthing position as to achieve the most optimal delivery
experience as possible. Upright birthing positions, as stated before, are more optimal for the mother
and the baby during the second stage of labor. The second stage of labor begins when the cervix is
completely dilated to 10 centimeters and ends with the birth of the infant (Davidson, London,

Warfare causes many people to suffer from psychological problems. Many times, these problems
come in the form of mental illness. According to the DSM VI, which is the fourth edition of the
Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, a mental disorder is a clinically significant
behavioral or psychological syndrome or pattern that s associated with current distress (a painful
symptom) or disability (impairment in one or more important areas of functioning) or with a
significantly greater risk of suffering, death, pain, disability, or an important loss of freedom. This
syndrome or pattern mustn t be merely an expected, culturally sanctioned response such as grief over

There are some times when war is the only option, but this is not always the case. Therefore, we
should be more resistant to war. Our new resistance to war will provide a more psychologically
healthy environment.
Those most affected psychologically are those who have fought in war. Traumatic experiences during
war often create psychological problems such as survivor s guilt and guilt from killing others; another
psychological problem that war creates is PTSD (Post traumatic Stress Disorder). Another group that
is seriously affected by war is the loved ones of those killed or missing in action have to deal with
their traumatic death. When a soldier comes home their families may have to deal with the added
stress of having a husband, son or father with PTSD, a drug abuse problem or alcohol addiction.
Dealing with their loved one s problems can cause friends and family members of the veteran to
develop their own psychological problems. For example, stress can cause depression. Lastly, a whole
society is psychologically injured by war. Some of the issues at this level include: dehumanization,
desensitization, and distortion.
Combatants
The psychological effects of war occur partly because killing is not a normal phenomenon. The sheer
number of combatants who become psychological casualties illustrates the fact that killing is not
normal to the human race. Statistics show

Family As An Agent Of Socialization
Why does a person behave the way they do? Why does each person have a distinct personality?
Scientists believe that this has to do with nature and nurture. Meaning, a person s social activities, and
personality are dictated by the traits they have inherited from their parents, but also from
environmental influences. There are four agents of socialization that have been chosen as the most
impacting on a person s life. These agents of socialization influence how a person will behave,
influence, and think among society. Although the family has been categorized as the most influential
agent of socialization, this is not the only agent that impacts a person life. In this essay, I will go over
how family, peer groups, school, and mass media affect a person from an early age and the impacts it
brings to society.
Notebaly, in societies, the family is the most and the primary agent of socialization on young children.
By interacting with their families, children are able to first learn the values, norms, and beliefs of
society. Socialization in a family setting can be both deliberate and unintended. A father may teach his
children about the importance of telling the truth or being considerate of others. Likewise, a mother
might teach her children the aspects of spending and saving money, these are deliberate or intended
social activities. Usually, unintended social activities have more of an impact on children than
deliberate attempts do. For example, a father might tell its child

The Exposure of Feminist Critique in 19th Century...
Resistance is the action of fighting back against an unwanted force that may be deemed oppressive in
ones life. It is created for different causes and comes in many forms; it may be made verbal, explicit,
implicit, physical, and even made humorous or satirical. Charlotte Brontë, a 19th century Victorian
feminist wrote her novel Jane Eyre as a means of exposing the confining environments, shameful lack
of education, and pitiful dependence upon male relatives for survival (Brackett, 2000). Charlotte
Brontë used literature as a means of feminist cultural resistance by identifying the underlying factors
of how the Victorian ideologies, gender and social construction of that time was limiting, and brings to
light barriers that faced women in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Jane is taught at a young age to look down on people not of her caste, and to oppress them the same
way that she herself is oppressed as a female orphan. Though Jane is not influenced directly by social
status at all times, it is still a constant factor which Brontë makes evident. In Victorian England, a
female must either be born or married into her social class, and this is what defines her. The character
of Jane served to undercut the popular female stereotypes of fiction: the angel of the house, the
invalid, or the whore (Brackett, 2000). Brontë creates Jane as her own force, in which she is neither
the angel, invalid or whore, but a young lady who is intelligent and has pride and dignity. In this
Victorian society, her unsubmissiveness and independence is her social fault, which Brontë pokes fun
at (Brackett, 2000). Male Victorian writers cast women during this time as social, finagling creatures
whose goals are to obtain as many friends as possible and throw the most elaborate parties. Brontë
opposes this by creating Jane as an opposite of these defining characteristics, by making Jane a female
who could are less about how many people adore her, a female who would actually enjoy a life with
few companions. As mentioned before, Jane s sense of dignity is evident. As Jane became Rochester s
governess, she is faced with the

Colombia And Us Relationship Case Study
Colombia and US Relationship
The United States is Colombia s biggest trade partner. The U.S. and Colombia Trade Promotion
Agreement, which began in 2012, was put in place to increase investment, remove tariffs and other
barriers to U.S. exports, increase trade, and promote economic growth in both the U.S. and Colombia.
The major U.S. exports to Colombia are oil, machinery, agricultural products, and organic chemicals.
The main U.S. imports from Colombia are crude oil, gold, coffee, and cut flowers. About 250 U.S.
businesses have operations in Colombia. The United States direct investment in Colombia is mainly
focused in the mining and manufacturing sectors.
The two countries are also parties to seven international environmental ... Show more content on

This significantly lowers costs, as fuel accounts for 11% of the overhead costs for our airline.
♣ We have and will continue to source all the same planes from our current supplier, Boeing. We will
enter an ACMI (Aircraft, Crew, Maintenance, and Insurance) lease with Boeing, in which they will
provide flight deck, cabin attendants and maintenance crews, salaries included, as well as the
responsibility of maintenance and insurances for the planes. This will significantly reduce the cost of
training and maintenance.
♣ We will use the Boeing 737 MAX. These aircrafts are to be launched in 2017. They are expected to
have the lowest operating unit costs in the single aisle segment with the capability of reducing fuel
burn and carbon dioxide emissions by an additional 13%. (ago, et al., Market Realist , 2016)
♣ To maintain low fuel costs, we will be partnering with Petroecuador, the fuel supplier in the
neighboring country of Ecuador. Ecuador s fuel costs are among the top ten lowest fuel costs
internationally.
Cabin Service
♣ Unlike our competitors, we offer leg room and snacks free of charge. We also offer basic Wi Fi.

The Sarbanes-Oxley Act (SOX)
Laws and regulations are established by governments to set minimum standards for responsible
behavior society s codification of what is right and wrong and to satisfy stakeholder s concerns
regarding companies abilities to act in an ethical fashion at all times (Ferrell, Fraedrich, Ferrell, 2013,
p. 95). The Sarbanes Oxley Act (SOX) was created following accounting fraud scandals of several
companies, including the Enron Corporation and Worldcom (Ferrell et al, 2015). The Act was
established to protect stakeholders and the public from accounting fraud. It has done a fair job of
deterring fraudulent reporting (Langevoort, 2007); however, I do not think regulating legislation of
any kind can completely prevent future ethical misconduct.

Globalization/pg. 29: The growing interconnections among nations due to the expansion of capitalism The Real Slumdog s documentary was very interesting and eye opening. The amount of businesses that are run in the one square mile area of Dharavi affect the entire capitalism of the world. Look at it this way, the Slumdog s as they re called make crappy money to make some very intricate products. These products will be shipped from Mumbai to the rest of the world eventually. As the products are marked up by middle men, the money does not filter its way back to the Dharavi slum. Thus, the products might be ten dollars in a store, but initially the slum workers get paid barely anything and do not get to see the profit that they could. These people work to survive. Mumbai is a very intricate and bustling city, and has a large amount of money and products moved through it each day. In the inner city though, it is not as cheap to make the products. There also are not the massive amounts of laborers that are found in Dharavi. Moving away from product production we can look at the dumps of Dharavi. A large amount of the trash from the inner city is sent to the slum to be processed. The workers that sort through the trash are called rag pickers. The rag pickers make very little money for what they do, but the work that they do is very important. They separate the waste into different categories to be processed and recycled accordingly. • 3. Piette s House At Montafoucault The painting Piette s House at Montfoucault is a piece of impressionism and landscape art. In the painting, it shows a someone s house in the winter time, two people standing in front of it, and many trees in front of it. It was painted by Camille Pissarro, during the winter of 1874, when he visited his friend, Ludovic Piette Montfoucault s house. It was painted with oil paints and is currently residing at the Sterling and Francine Clark Art Institute. The art has many different textures, colours/values, and lines. The lines are all thin and broken or curved, except for the tree trunks which are thick and straight and the lines around the houses, which are straight. The lines do not outline the objects. The textures around the trees, the snow, and the humans all feel very soft, however, around the houses, where they look rough and look like if you were to touch it, it would feel like real bricks. The painting is mainly made up of white, and bright colours, with some darker colours at the areas with shade, the leaves of the trees, and the roofs of the houses. The colours make the painting look realistic, and it makes it seem like the place is cold. The form in this painting is 3D. The artist used these elements, to make it so you feel like you are actually there, or it is just a blurred photograph. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 4. Analysis on a Modest Proposal English Commentary Digression A modest proposal by Jonathan Swift is a rhetoric piece that satirizes the dismal political, social and economic conditions in 18th century Ireland. As a solution, the preposterous proposal suggests that the Irish eat their own babies; as it is logically viable, and economically profitable: a condition adhering to the rational mentality of the age of reason. Swift develops his argument on two levels: A seemingly intellectual persona, caricaturized on a stereotypical upper class Englishman who promotes cannibalism through the use of subtle euphemisms. And the other, as himself, cleverly veiled in the caustic undertones of the pamphlet who is appalled at the plight of the Irish. Swift uses this dual ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The trustworthiness of the persona is further questioned, as he justifies himself by Psalmanazar (another authority), who is known to be a fraud. The persona uses the form of a ceremonial speech to dress his proposal, disgracing the condition of the Irish, in light of his visionary idea. The features of a speech as such would include strategic procatalepsis [1] (some scrupulous people might be apt to censure such a practice, although very unjustly indeed) adopted by the persona, to disillusion the reader into believing he has taken into consideration all possible objections; reflective of him being both well researched and reasonable. To an extent the sophistry[2] achieved in this extract through double negatives, It is not improbable confuses the reader into agreement with the persona. This is further complemented by his tone of matter of fact seriousness, veiling the actual absurdity of the proposal. On a literal level, these persuasive tactics establish him as credible. However, Swift s deriding undertones expose them as an obvious hoax to sway the audience. It is at this point the audience realizes that the proposal is a satire, as the persona confidently refers to then current events of known unreliability to assure his credence. Swift uses this irony to reveal the persona as a sham, and hence awaken the audience to the reality, that the proposal is not meant to be taken seriously. The proposal ... There are television programs about the African Queens and Kings who never set sail for America, but are acknowledged as the pillars of our identity. In addition, our black school children finally get to hear about the history of their ancestors instead of hearing about Columbus and the founding of America. Black Americans should be acknowledged for not only their contributions to American society, but also for being a part of American society and upholding the traditions and values of this country. Black History Month is an accomplishment that we should be proud of in the Black community. Carter G. Woodson chose the month of February for some important reasons. For instance, Black History Month marks the birthdays of two men who influenced the black population, Frederick Douglass and Abraham Lincoln according to Woodson. In addition, the Fifteenth Amendment was passed on February 3, 1870, which granted blacks the right to vote. There were a lot of significant reasons for allowing Black History Week to begin in February. However, I seriously doubt if Woodson would have accepted the extension of this week in the shortest month of the year. Woodson chose a week in February, because it had symbolic significance. Robber Barons Dbq Essay Throughout the late 19th century, several men such as John Rockefeller, Andrew Carnegie, and Cornelius Vanderbilt built empires in railroad construction, coal mining, and the oil industry. These industrial leaders helped the economy flourish and created a leading industrial power in the world. After a while, critics began to question their power and objective. Critics began to call them robber barons for their selfish and corrupted techniques. Act utilitarians base their evaluation on Bentham s principle and rule utilitarians base their evaluation on Mill s principle. Act utilitarians stress the importance of dealing with each moral problem individually, and posing a solution that will work with that specific case (Nathanson). Medgar Evers was born on July 2ed, 1925, in Decatur, Mississippi. After being raised up in a farming family, Evers joined the United States Army in 1943. • 24. Gender Equality And Gender Discrimination Essay Gender equality? Is it really a time in modern day age when women are considered to be equal to men or do women still have a long way to go? Throughout history men have been the dominant gender and women have been thought to be less than the man. Men have held positions of power and authority while women have hidden in the shadows of men. In the 21st century, women have made great strides in attempts to be treated equally as men but are still treated differently. This modern day society believes gender equality exists but in reality, there is clearly an inequality amongst people creating negative stereotype gender roles, sexually degrading and gender discrimination towards women. The 21st century has seen a dramatic shift in traditional family dynamics and has pulled apart gender role divisions. During World War II men dutifully joined the military and women went to work in the factories, taking on occupations that were traditionally held by men. When the war ended, women returned to their traditional roles as wives and mothers (Winograd, 2016). Women began to realize that they too, can carry out roles of the men. As the years began to change so did the thoughts and ideas of women. Women now believe that men and women should be treated as equals, and women have every right to be in the position of traditional men roles. • 25. Analysis Of The Movie Last Year Last year, the Hollywood film Noah was released. Obviously I was intrigued, so I called up my Pastor and some friends and planned to go to the cinema to see it. As many sources claimed, I can agree that this is certainly one of the least Biblical, Biblical films ever made. Of course the actual story of Noah in the bible is not very long, so it was to be expected that the producers would add some filler Hollywood action, but how much of Noah is actually based on the text that appears in the Old Testament, and how much is fantastical movie magic? Just like the Old Testament, the film starts at the very beginning. Noah tells his children the story of creation and almost stays true to the Genesis story of creation. To begin I will explore the characters presented in the film and the original story. The movie introduces two groups of people, Lemech and Noah the good guys and Tubal Cain and his people, the evil men, who are of course descendants of Cain, which is consistent with the Old Testament. Later, the character Methuselah is introduced, Noah s grandfather. He lives on the top of a mountain and for some reason has a constant craving for berries (The Bible says nothing about this strange detail). He also seems to posses some mystical powers. Methuselah isn t mentioned much in the Bible, but he is the oldest documented person mentioned in the book. Lemech, Noah s father, is only brought up in the Bible for genealogy purposes. This definitely seems like a big win for the LGBTQ movement on the surface but is society actually accepting of queer culture? A prominent big win for activists was the legalization of gay marriage in 2015. However, many queer studies scholars are skeptical of the mainstream LGBTQ movement s focus on marriage rights because it is based on homonormative politics that continues to uphold oppressive institutions and because it does not tackle the actual underlying social issues. Instead of focusing on marriage, activists should prioritize building coalitions based on community values and intersectionality and strive for radical change rather than settle ... Thus, queer public cultures, like Christopher Street in Manhattan, are needed to provide a space for intimacies outside of marriage, such as girlfriends, gal pals, fuckbuddies, and tricks (Berlant and Warner 175). Queer public spaces are thus needed to validate unconventional intimacies and to elaborate a public world of belonging and transformation (Berlant and Warner 175). Keywords component: WSN, network lifetime, fault detection algorithm, node energy consumption, secure routing, communication faults, reliability 1. Introduction The sensor nodes in a Wireless Sensor Network (WSN) are used for surveillance of ambient environment, which can be unpredictable. The sensor nodes are often exposed to harsh surroundings, which could lead to many problems like failure of the sensing unit, radio transceiver, and processors; not just that, also sensor node death occurs due to energy crunch eventually. So it s understood that faults directly affect the network lifetime of a Wireless Sensor Network. Wireless Sensor Network Lifetime means the time period required for the network to function with the collective effort of sensors even if some of the nodes have failed. When this percentage of failed nodes increases, fault prevention and avoidance strategies are needed to be applied to improve reliability and performance of the network. A reliable WSN yields accurate results. For fault tolerance in WSN, maintenance of a consistent quality of service (QoS) is necessary. Also energy efficiency comes into picture, which is a difficult task to achieve. There are also some software failures related to the operating system or embedded programs in the sensor. WSN has a tolerance level that defines the capacity it would have to deal with the various faults of the sensors. The degree of tolerance depends on the three ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Arch of Titus is an architectural monument and sculpture constructed around c. 79 81 CE. by Domitian in the Forum Romanum, Rome, notable on the plaza for its huge scale and central position. The arch includes three outstandingly elaborated reliefs, two on both passages, which depict the martial victory of Rome under the leading of the Roman emperor Titus, and one on the vault, which displays Titus carried by an eagle to the heaven. The monumental, geometric arch and the detailed, naturalistic reliefs guide the viewers not only to approach the arch from a distance, but also to pass through it, and immerse them in the scene of Rome s military triumph and the glory of the arch and its subject Titus. The material, Pentelic marble, suggests the dignity of the subject matter and the permanence of its presence. It is a type of white marble with a faint hue of yellow that makes this material shine with golden light under sunlight, associating the architecture with the qualities of loftiness and integrity. In addition, Pentelic marble has the qualities of persistence and gravitas, and therefore the arch is in a relatively unimpaired condition except that the panel reliefs were damaged permanently in the eleventh century when the Frangipani family integrated it into a fortress. Later in nineteenth century, Giuseppe Valadier restored the damaged part with a different type of material, Valadier, to differentiate the original part of the arch from the later restored portion. American Dream Vs American Dream Climbing the ladder of upward social mobility to attain the highly acclaimed American Dream could be rather simple if everyone started off on an even playing field, but reality is some start off in a hole of despair. As defined by Mexican immigrants in East Los Angeles, the American Dream construct through which the United States is portrayed as the Land of Opportunity promises immigrants the chance to level up socioeconomically via education, employment, and ethnic or cultural revitalization. Such promise has become a source of disappointment for many. Others still believe this goal is realistic, and therefore achievable. Scholastic discourses have attempted to address this controversy, but have failed to do so. Perhaps because many scholars are fixated on the idea that homeownership is central to the American Dream. However, in transitory urban centers, residents often prefer to rent rather than buy. Thus, this definition of the American dream is outdated in today s modern urban context. Here, I propose a more suitable definition through which to look at the function that the American Dream has in predominantly Latino poor urban neighborhoods. I define the American Dream as the upward movement from one tier to another in a socially stratified society. With this in mind, I will attempt to answer the following; Is the American Dream feasible for the Mexican immigrant community in East Los Angeles? As I got older the need for finding books or publications for research purposes decreased considerably. As I entered middle school, a class was being taught on computer literacy, and looking back on that class I see how important it was to get started early. I can only recall one time in the last three years where I stepped foot into a public library, and that was to place my vote for the 2016 presidential election. The fact that I can hop on my phone, and search anything I could possibly want to know about, and that information be displayed in a matter of seconds is an amazing and wonderful thing. Before the introduction of the forceps in the 17th century, women were rarely shown to be giving birth in a supine position. The implementation of this routine tradition has been linked to a lack of education of the nurses of the various benefits of upright birthing positions and thus deficient knowledge of the mothers on their different options for positioning during delivery. Furthermore, research has determined that upright positions for delivery, such as squatting and sitting, yield more positive outcomes physically and psychologically for the mother and the baby than gravity neutral supine positions. Nurses and other obstetric medical professionals are reluctant to change their ways of practice because of barriers to obtaining such knowledge related to their scope of practice. It is the job of the nursing managers on the unit to educate their floor nurses on the benefits of upright delivery positions and the more detrimental effects of supine delivery positions so their patients can have full knowledge and control of the birthing process when deciding on a birthing position as to achieve the most optimal delivery experience as possible. Meaning, a person s social activities, and personality are dictated by the traits they have inherited from their parents, but also from environmental influences. There are four agents of socialization that have been chosen as the most impacting on a person s life. These agents of socialization influence how a person will behave, influence, and think among society. Although the family has been categorized as the most influential agent of socialization, this is not the only agent that impacts a person life. In this essay, I will go over how family, peer groups, school, and mass media affect a person from an early age and the impacts it brings to society. Notebaly, in societies, the family is the most and the primary agent of socialization on young children. By interacting with their families, children are able to first learn the values, norms, and beliefs of society. Socialization in a family setting can be both deliberate and unintended. Though Jane is not influenced directly by social status at all times, it is still a constant factor which Brontë makes evident. In Victorian England, a female must either be born or married into her social class, and this is what defines her. The character of Jane served to undercut the popular female stereotypes of fiction: the angel of the house, the invalid, or the whore (Brackett, 2000). Brontë creates Jane as her own force, in which she is neither the angel, invalid or whore, but a young lady who is intelligent and has pride and dignity. In this Victorian society, her unsubmissiveness and independence is her social fault, which Brontë pokes fun at (Brackett, 2000). Male Victorian writers cast women during this time as social, finagling creatures whose goals are to obtain as many friends as possible and throw the most elaborate parties. Brontë opposes this by creating Jane as an opposite of these defining characteristics, by making Jane a female who could are less about how many people adore her, a female who would actually enjoy a life with few companions.
