Naming In Tea Cake By Zora Neale
Naming is an important way in which readers can see hope affirmed or ill fated from the start, because
it adds layers of meaning to characterisation. Joe Starks superciliously narrow minded attitude towards
life renders his marriage with Janie a stark, bleak and miserable relationship where love slowly bleeds
away, (King, 1990) with each thing he denies her, leading to the first real death of her hope: something
fell off the shelf inside her... her image of Jody tumbled down and shattered in her mind s eye. Her
drifting afterwards and loss of joy in the nature she used to adore emphasises the emptiness of a life
lived without hope as there are no more blossomy openings dusting pollen over her man, neither any
glistening young fruit where ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Janie is a modernisation of the Roman deity Jana and Vergible is derived from the demi god Virbius,
making him King of the woods (King, 1998), which brings hope to their union by adding in an
element of the divine thereby raising expectations. Indeed, the readers sees Tea Cake put Janie up on a
pedestal and frequently mention that Janie holds da keys tuh de kingdom , reminiscent of her
namesake s status as the highest god receiving the veneration she deserves and not da mule of de
world as Nanny feared. Sethe is a feminisation merging the Egyptian god Set and Seth from the Old
Testament, the former who commits an atrocity upon a family member, and the latter who revives
hope in God upon his birth (Mayer, 1993) alluding to the split in her maternal identity for which she
needs to seek forgiveness to have hope of redemption. Additionally, Amy becomes worthy of deeper
scrutiny given the striking fact that etymologically the name, from the Latin amatus, literally means
beloved, (Coonradt, 2005). The purpose of this strong connection between the identities of the white
girl and Sethe s daughter respectively, can interpreted by some readers as Morrison s desire to instill
hope in future generations that bridging the gulf of racism, is conceivable, by subtly showing humans
as being fundamentally the

Nike Adjusting Her Sandal Analysis
Geographical location: The position of Greece at the crossroads between Africa, Asia, and Europe has
undeniably played a large role in the diverse and often turbulent history of Greece.
Protruding from Europe, Greece hangs precariously southward from the end of the Balkan Peninsula,
and slices towards the Mediterranean Sea with dramatic peninsulas and thousands of large and small
islands. The Mediterranean Sea offered an easily adaptable climate with mild winters and hot, dry
summers, while the mountainous terrain, allowed for multiple easily defensible positions. The
surrounding sea offered an environment conducive to developing and sustaining an enduring culture

The Culture at Google
Culture at Google Has there not enough been spoken about the culture at Google?
The core of this culture lies in the Founder s philosophy. Google is ruled by its founders. In the book
What would Google do? by Jeff Jarvis, there is wonderful line that goes like There is an inverse
relationship between control and trust. Trust is established in the process of attracting people to the
site and more people that come, the more companies flock to the internet and thus the search engine.
This is called a two sided network effect. One cannot survive without the other.
This mutual relationship based on transparency and sharing is the core of the movement. Google
served as the platform necessary for the interaction between both the sides (the producers and
consumers). It gave people control and they used it. The founders of Google worked on this principle.
Google is not a slave to Wall Street The reason being Google builds a corporate culture that will
deliver its mission, and that it is principally organized to drive innovation.
Practices at Google
Since Engineers form half of the organization and as they like to do cool things, they can bid to work
on anything they want to after their first year at Google. In this case the popular projects get more
attention whereas the lesser popular ones don t get attention. It is on the Project leads to sell their ideas
to the engineers so that it appeals to their engineers.
Innovation is the key driver at Google. As I mentioned

Cheerios Effect Essay
Have you ever wondered why your cereal clusters together after milk is poured or why it sticks to the
side of your bowl? Even if you try to pull them apart, they come together again. This is a spectacle
that happens every day but we just don t really notice it. Most people don t really realize that it s
happening everyday. Using fluid mechanics, we can determine why floating objects come together due
to surface tension, viscosity and buoyancy (Grayson, 2014). This cheerios effect also applies to other
floating objects such as paperclips. The main principles that cause objects to float together are surface
tension, buoyancy and viscosity. Surface tension is caused by the presence ... Show more content on

When cheerios is put in milk, it creates a dent in the milks surface. Milk is attracted to the sides of the
bowl; the milk forms a concave shape. The molecules being attracted to the bowl pulls the cheerios to
the sides of the bowl. The surface tension under the milk is pulling the molecules down. Even if you
try pulling apart the cheerios, the cheerios will stick together again. In water, an object has to be less
dense than water to float. The same goes for cereal, which is less dense than milk and allows them to
float. In liquids, cohesive forces are strong enough to keep molecules together but weak enough to
slide past each other. Fluids with high viscosity have strong cohesive forces and fluids with low
cohesive forces have weak cohesive forces. Viscosity can be calculated by its flow rate. Liquids with
low viscosity have a high flow rate such as milk and water. Liquids with high viscosity have low flow
rates such as honey. Milk has a low viscosity but different types of milk have different viscosity rates.
Fat free milk flows faster than milk with fat content. Whole milk has a higher viscosity than fat

State Instability in Somalia
State Instability in Somalia: Islamic Extremism Insurgency
Historical Amnesia is a dangerous phenomenon, not only because it undermines moral
and intellectual integrity, but also because it lays the groundwork for crimes that lie ahead.
Noam Chomsky
It is nearly impossible to pick up a copy of the New York Times or The Washington Post or turn on
CNN and not see scenes of the humanitarian crisis, gangs, piracy, insurgency, and civil war regarding
the deteriorating situation in Somalia splashed all over the pages. Due to increased piracy attacks,
Somalia has gained world wide attention which has brought to light the declining conditions faced by
hundreds of thousands of Somali s. Starvation due to drought, clan ... Show more content on

The rise of Militant Islam in Somalia occurred in the mid 1990 s with the alliance of a group of
Muslim legal scholars, clan leaders and business men operating in piracy, who comprised four primary
sects of leadership, based upon clan and regional affiliation. These four sects merged to form the
Supreme Islamic Courts Council (SICC), and operated with success until it was defeated in 2006 by
Transnational Federal Government. The SICC broke apart resulting in splinter terrorist organizations
which are now tied to the present rise in piracy off the coast of Somalia. Dissentions among these
groups are wide spread.
Now that an analysis have been provided with a background of research regarding the composition
and reason for militant groups, the research will focus on the case study to test whether these theories
modelled remain true within a radical group itself. To reiterate, the conflict analysis will focus on a
discussion of the dynamics and origins of the group power, group identity and group purpose, and
societal effects of the group. These findings will discuss the role of Islamic extremism, funding by
piracy, clan based fighting, and governmental factors which influenced the fall of the Somali state.
Let s begin by answering the first question of the composition and structural dynamic of the group.
The group we will focus on is Somalia s largest and most powerful insurgency group, called Al

MERS-COV Infection Lab Report
In general, these lab tests fall into two categories:
Molecular tests, looking for evidence of active infection.
Serology tests, looking for previous infection by detecting antibodies to MERS CoV. Serology tests
are for monitoring purposes not for diagnostic purposes (11).
Routine confirmation of coronavirus infection based on detection of unique sequences of viral RNA
by real time reverse transcriptase polymerase chain reaction (RT PCR) and sequencing. Any testing
for the presence of this virus must be performed in appropriately equipped laboratories by staff trained
in the pertinent technical and safety procedures. A number of RT PCR assays that are specific for the
coronavirus develop and publish. Currently described tests include an assay targeting upstream of the
E protein gene (upE)1 and assays targeting the open reading frame 1b (ORF 1b) gene1 and the open
reading frame 1a (ORF 1a) gene2. The assay for the upE target is considered highly sensitive, with the
ORF 1a assay considered of equal sensitivity. The ORF 1b assay is considered less sensitive than the
ORF 1a assay but may be more specific (12). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Wife Of Martin Guerre
Two short novels The Wife of Martin Guerre by Janet Lewis and Good Country People by Flannery O
Conner have very different plots, however, many connections can be made between certain characters.
A strong example of this would be Arnaud (posing as Martin), and Manley, two antagonists from each
of the novels listed above, respectively. In Janet Lewis short novel The Wife of Martin Guerre the
main character Bertrande is taken on an emotional roller coaster as her husband Martin doesn t return
from a trip he promised would only be a week. Just as she is learning to embrace being the head of the
household and a single mother, a man claiming to be the Martin who left her eight long years ago
appears out of the blue, throwing her life and emotions into complete chaos. In Flannery O Conners
short story Good Country People a woman named Hulga, who is unpleasant to the majority of people,
is seduced by a young man, claiming to be nothing more than a simple country boy selling bibles.
Later in these short stories, it is revealed that both of these men are not who they claim to be, and their
lies caused rather dreadful repercussions. These two antagonists delude Hulga and Bertrande in their
respective stories by enticing them with desirable amounts of knowledge and causing them to lose
perception of reality by using manipulation throughout the entire plot. The amount of knowledge these
two antagonists allowed to show was a major part in how they deceived the protagonists. In

Rock Music History
Rock music has been very popular for years. Now a day s rock has blended in with the other types of
popular music like pop, country and rap. However, none of these other types of music seemed to have
as big an impact on people that rock did. Rock n roll, basically controlled the most of the twentieth
century, with an entire era of children, teens and young adults to follow. But, where did rock come
from? What is rock music, what started it? How did parents react? Rock n roll original started along
the Mississippi River Valley (image right, Dennison). The music spread up and down the river, along
the railroads and highways that ran near the river (Allen). It also traveled through Tennessee, Illinois,
Cumberland and the Missouri rivers also known as the tributaries (Allen). The reason ... Show more

It has to do with the beats, melody, elements and rhythm that make up the music. Those are the things
that separate music from noise. Though, if you listen to early rock like Maybellene by Chuck Berry
and What a Wonderful World by Louis Armstrong it is a little more clearly. When it comes to rock and
jazz in specific; they are influenced by different properties around them. Even though jazz and rock
are inspired by different things; they are still more alike than to any other type of music. However,
they share one distinct difference. In jazz, it uses a shuffle rhythm and rock does not (Kajanova 13).
What that means is that the same rhythmic values in rock are used in subtle shifts and digressions to
enhance the relax feel of the music; along with an essence and easiness, that s why jazz and rock are
different (Kajanova 13). Musical ideas of rock and jazz came from components that came from
European folk and stylized dances that were changed into country music. From there it was changed
into rhythm and blues and jazz, and lastly it was imported into rock

Dominance and Monopoly: The Company brought many other competitors and became the dominant

Operating System And The Computer System Essay
Introduction: An operating system is a vital component of the computer system. The common and
simple devices like refrigerators and microwave ovens does not have an operating system. The
complex systems which handle several components, functions and processes usually have an operating
system. The operating system is like the brain of a human being, the brain is an essential organ in the
body of human being which sends signals and helps functioning of the human body. Our intelligence,
attitude, emotions and senses defines our presence, all these are possible because of our brain. In
similar manner, Operating System (OS) is the power behind a computer system. In other words,
operating system is brain of the computer and processor is the heart of the computer. A computer is the
concatenation of several hardware parts. The operating system manages computer hardware resources
and provides common services for computer programs and other application software. Application
programs or software usually require an operating system to function. For basic hardware functions
such as input and output and memory allocation, the operating system acts as an intermediary between
application software and the computer hardware, although the hardware is directly accessed and
executed by application code or software directly, the hardware will frequently make a system call to
an OS function or be interrupted by it. In simple terms, operating systems track the activities of
hardware and

Emily Dickinson Snake
Emily Dickinson is highly recognized as being one of the best American poets to ever write. Her
legacy lives on through her many published poems and some of her poems that I am sure were lost.
When reading Dickinson s work for the first time, some people can interpret her as a stuffy woman
who never left the house. But, when you dig deeper into her poems and letters it is revealed that
Dickinson was full of whit, sarcasm, and somewhat weird sexual tendencies (weird tendencies for the
time period, not so weird in today s society.) A narrow Fellow in the Grass is one of Dickinson s many
great poems. This poem is full of layers of meaning, with every aspect of the poem drawing in the
reader s attention. The strange wording, the dashes, the question ... Show more content on

In my opinion the snake represents the same thing that it does in the Bible, sin and corruption. In
many literary works a snake is represented as sin and I do not think that is any different in this poem.
In the Bible the snake is seen as the one who tempts Eve in the Garden of Eden. The devil manifests
himself into the shape of a snake which could be the very thing Dickinson was trying to represent
through the snake in this poem. Dickinson s background through church could definitely be a reason
that she would portray the snake in that way. The speaker in this poem is also symbolic. The speaker is
an important element because right in the middle of the poem is when we learn that the speaker is a
man, not a woman. Up until that point I assumed that the speaker was a woman because the poet was a
woman. A woman or girl could just as easily come upon the same situation with the snake as the boy
does, so why is it important that the speaker is a man? I think throughout the whole poem Dickinson
uses a heavy amount of personification for the same reason she let us know in the middle of the poem
that the speaker was a male. I think she wanted us to see that not everything is as it appears to be.
Throughout the poem we have the confusion of the snake as being a snake or a Fellow , the snake
being a snake or a whip, and the speaker being one with nature or the snake being a disturbing event. I
think Dickinson uses the speaker as another device to remind the reader that just because something
looks a certain way in the beginning does not mean it will be the same in the end. The way Dickinson
used the setting is another way she tricked the reader into thinking things were one way when they
were actually not. In the beginning of the poem the setting is that of an open field, then the reader
learns of a boy who is actually the speaker. This completely changes the setting because now the
reader is actually in a conversion about the

Missionary Work and Its Evolvement in Christianity
In the church s tradition, there are traces of missionary activity and signs of an understanding of
mission. People, guided by the Holy Spirit, have lived their lives in a way obeying the will of God and
being close to Him. They talked about their faith and the how they know God. After the persecution
period, they then have the courage to speak and, hence, they gossip the Gospel everywhere and this
gossiping is aided by the power of the Holy Spirit which they received in baptism. This implies that
through baptism, every man and woman has the responsibility to share the Goodness of Christ with or
without words. But, as time went by, others found it crucial to stay away from worldly allurements by
staying in secluded places. They were inspired to stay close to Christ and staying close to Christ is to
shun worldly things. This marks the rise of the monastic movements. However, these monastic
movements are not mere movements but are missionary activities in themselves because they portray
a particular vocation of the Church. They considered mission as moving away from the world and
have more time in praying for all people and for the church. Furthermore, this kind of missionary
activity has extended even to the lay people, but not living an ascetic life, instead, they proclaim their
mission in their day to day experience with their family e.g. a mother s role is a mission towards the
children and children towards mothers. There was a strong change in the concept of mission and

Analysis Of Walter Onth, By Walter Ong
Yeast, an article written by Walter Ong in 1990, starts with an explanation of a problem the author
believes lies within Catholic institutions. That problem is the challenges the Church faces to be
accepting in an ever growing pluralistic world, while also remaining true to it s own values. With
situations arising such as non Catholic faculty and students, as well as questions of academic freedom
Catholic institutions are found asking themselves where the line is of sharing their own ideas while
still remaining flexible and accepting (Ong 1). Ong goes on to explain the etymology of the word
catholic in order to prove his future point. He makes the point that although it s common belief that
catholic is said to mean universal, or ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the same way, the church should build into itself the cultures or mixtures of cultures in which it
finds itself (Ong 3). He reaches his final solution about how the relationship between a pluralistic
society and a Catholic institution should behave. He explains that this parable can be used in three
different areas. First, faith in academic subjects should respect the fact that ideas are constantly
changing, and the academics being taught should evolve as ideas change. Secondly, faculty don t have
to be Catholic, but they should respect the religion in view of the fact that they teach at a Catholic
institution, and therefore should represent the character of the institution. Third, as it pertains to
students, the institution should continue to spread its influence through classes, but no student should
have it forced upon them. Lastly, he relates it to cosmology in saying that as more abstract ideas come
into the world of science, the Catholic church needs to absorb these ideas instead of renouncing them.
Overall, Ong summarizes the idea of not only accepting, but celebrating differences that the Catholic
community finds itself in (Ong 5 6). The reason I picked this article was because Ong makes the point
that a Catholic institution should accept students that aren t Catholic, but still have a responsibility to
educate, those willing, about

How Is Corruption Shown In Animal Farm
In all of recorded history, there has never been a time where a society has existed in absolute equality.
George Orwell displays this truth through his book Animal Farm. Animal Farm is a fictitious novel
that follows the story of animals that strive, but fail, to create and live in a truly equal society due to
ingrained social statuses and corruption. Orwell s Animal Farm a thinly veiled allegory for the Russian
Revolution warns of the dangers blind acceptance and the allowance of unsupervised government,
alongside its propaganda, can do. Orwell showcases how those in power can never be equal to those

A Research Study On Primary Source And Primary Sources For...
1.6. Literature Sources
1.6.1. Primary source:
A primary source is defined as a document or a source of research data built up at the same time as the
research subject and directly connected to the events or people being research (Concordia Library,
2010). Primary sources can be in form of diaries, speeches, letters (Concordia Library, 2010).
The first primary source that will be used is a webpage called Positive parenting tips by the Centers
for Disease Control and Prevention of the USA in 2015. The webpage is about how children develop
in different periods of their lives and tips for parents of children in different age groups. The
information was written by a governmental organization with many experts in the US which makes it
very reliable to the readers. However, most of the data is about parenting and child development,
which is not relative to this research. The researcher has decided to use the age groups divided and
named by this organization to answer Research Question 1 about the general background of colour as
a marketing technique for child oriented food products.
The second primary source will be used is Set of Recommendations on the Marketing of Food and
Non alcoholic beverage to Children published by the World Health Organization (WHO) in 2010. This

Immanuel Kant On Enlightenment
In 1784, Immanuel Kant states that Enlightenment is the human being s emergence from his self
incurred minority and the courage to utilize your own discernment.
Minority is inability to make habit of one s own understanding without guidance from another. This
minority is self incurred when its cause lies not in lack of reason but in lack of resolve and courage to
utilize it without guidance from another. Have courage to build habit of your own intellect! Is
therefore the motto of enlightenment. Kant draws a very profound argument by saying that
enlightenment may only be made through a proactive personal exploration of one s own opinions
away from the confines of social dogma.
According to Immanuel Kant, enlightenment is when a person arises

Becoming A Sign Language Interpreter
When introducing something new to a person, various emotions may come along with that; fear,
sadness, anger, happiness and many others. Overwhelming joy and happiness were what I felt when
my friend, Dalia, helped me realize what I wanted to do in life. She unknowingly aided me in deciding
to become a sign language interpreter. Finding my path to a career I desired to pursue was a major
stepping stone in my life and I will be forever grateful to Dalia for that. Dalia is the sweetest, most fun
loving, strong willed person, I ve known. One feature that makes her stand her own and doesn t stop
her from shooting for the stars is that she is deaf. In spring of 2014, my spunky, very charismatic

which was not a problem since I am an incredibly sociable person. I quickly found my friends, Alexis,
Freddy s younger sister, and Sarah and eagerly joined them. I noticed standing with them was an

population in Australia has been around for over 40 thousand years. It shows the earliest evidence of
human existence in Australia. The body of Mungo Man was buried with ochre and his hands crossed
and this shows that these traditions were performed over 40 thousand years ago and passed down from
generation to generation. To put ochre on the body and have a burial symbolises that this tradition and
culture has been around for a long time and the evidence is a reminder of the history of the land and
the people. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
To discover Mungo Mans exact time of existence scientists took DNA from his bones and the results
showed that his remains were over 40 thousand years old. The research also shows that Mungo Man
would have been approximately 50 years old when he died. The research also shows that Mungo Man
had arthritis throughout his body especially in his right elbow. I believe that Mungo Man s death was
very important to the tribe he was living in because he was found with ochre on him which shows
importance. I believe his death was also important because he was buried by his tribe with his arms
crossed and painted with ochre. I believe he may have been one of the most respected members of the
tribe and based on evidence this is one of the earliest known burials discovered which also shows the
high respect and importance of Mungo

Classical Realism Vs Neorealism
Throughout the course of history, it had become customary to assume that a state that is fearful of
others and works only to help and protect itself, is the unparalleled genius; this notion is the basis for
the political theory of realism. Neorealism, developed sometime after World War II, is a
reinterpretation of classical realism, which was originally developed in Ancient Greece(M AT 2017,
80). Kenneth Waltz, whose work helped the transition from realism to neorealism, believed that the
structure of the international system was the most important thing to study, being that the international
system is anarchic(Haupt, 2017, T2L1, 8). Neorealists have a few core assumptions, including:
believing the international system is anarchic, believing states are self interested, and that national
security is the most important issue concerning states (Haupt, 2017, T2L1, 8 9). Many, such as John
Mearsheimer, mentioned later, use these assumptions to predict what future relations between states,
such as China and the U.S. are going to be. As mentioned before, neorealism derived from the theory
of classical realism, and though it had evolved over time, power plays the most important role in both
classical and neo realism. Neorealism holds the principle that states must look after only themselves
because the international system is anarchic. These theories come to this conclusion because, as
quoted in Essentials of International Politics, no higher power exists to defeat the

Necessities for Parents
As of 2014, there are an estimated 153 million orphans in the world (Wiki Answers). This statistic is
both saddening and frightening because all of those children who do not have parents are being
exposed to life without someone to care for them and their basic needs. Growing up, it can be
extremely difficult at moments to deal with parents and not question them from time to time. All
children have some type of problem with their parents or legal guardians at one point in time or
another. Parents are constantly being taken for granted because children do not always understand just
how important their parents are when it comes to the role that they play in their life. The age group
that has the majority of the complaints about parents is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Children need that acceptance from their parents in order to feel free to explore his or her world and
express himself or herself to you without fear of [their parent s] disapproval (Eugster). Parents are also
supposed to provide their child with security and stability. According to Jayshree Shah, stability and
security are the most critical ingredients a child needs in order to thrive in our world. Children need to
know that their parents have everything under control so that they are not constantly worrying about
those things themselves. There has to be routines and order in a child s life so that they are not
confused and they will have a semblance of what they can expect. The routines can be as simple as
washing your face when you wake up every morning or saying your prayer every night right before
you go to bed. These routines and stability are useful in crazy situations because even though your
child s world may be spinning they know that even when things go wrong your love and commitment
towards [them] will remain (Shah). Another thing that stability and security helps with is making a
child independent. When a child has a daily routine they know what to follow and once they get used
to that routine they will memorize it and start doing it on their own making them independent and
responsible individuals.

Sunday Candy Analysis
Sunday Candy, a short film written by Chancellor Johnathan Bennett also known as Chance The
Rapper is not only a dedication to his late grandmother, but is also a showcase of his artistic abilities
beyond rhyming over an arrangement of instruments, sounds, and tempos. Donnie Trumpet and the
Social Experiment deliver an easily relatable song and appear in this amusing short film directed by
Austin Vesely, Ian Eastwood and Chance The Rapper. With an engaging video setup, the use of
unconventional instruments, and thought provoking lyrics, Chance The Rapper allows the viewer to
sense the warm, exuberant, and maternal spirit of his grandmother and gives the viewer a
understanding of how these feelings and memories continuously influence his life. ... Show more

The listener can also understand that she is a church going woman who prays a lot for her grandsons.
Additionally, the listener can tell that his grandmother is very special to him and the simple thought of
her can move him to want to do better for himself. Bennett continues to vocalize his appreciation for
his grandmother, and the audience can understand that she is worth more than money to him and even
in times when they did not have a lot of money she always filled that void. For example, in verse two,
Hella holes in my stocking holding your pockets in place; I like my love with a budget, I like my hugs
with a scent; You smell like light, gas, water, electricity, rent, (Genius) Chance tells how his
grandmother simply reminds him of home. In the hook that goes like, You gotta move it slowly; Take
and eat my body like it s holy; I ve been waiting for you for this whole week; I ve been praying for
you, you re my Sunday candy, (Genius) Jamila Woods really is able to express to the audience the
feeling of missing your grandmother and wanting to never leave them. This hook also compares the
feeling Bennett has for his grandmother to the Church ceremony of First Sunday Communion.
Additionally, Woods sings in the bridge, You better come on in this house, cause it s gonna rain; Rain
down Zion, it s gonna rain. The audience can make the comprehension that his grandmother would
call him to come inside the house after a certain time because after dark is safer to be inside rather
than outside and Bennett always felt like his grandmother s house was

Capital vs Liquidity
Liquidity, liquidity, liquidity.....
In the context of the events of the last few years just how important is liquidity to the survival and
well being of Financial Institutions? Some believe it has a greater influence on events than Capital!
Discuss. (In this assignment you need to outline the role of liquidity, issues arising when liquidity is
scarce and compare the role of liquidity to that of Capital but most importantly give your own view on
these matters)
Role of Liquidity
Liquidity can be defined as 1) the ability of a business to meet obligations without disposing of its
fixed assets or 2) the degree to which assets of a company can be easily converted into cash.

Typical assets that can be sold this way are mortgages, credit card debt, car loans or student debt. This
model was used by Northern Rock (NR) in the UK where they originated mortgages that were then
securitised. This enabled them to churn their balance sheet and issue more mortgages. There was an
inherent liquidity risk run by NR with this model as their funding was not diversified sufficiently
aligned with a failure to realise that market conditions for mortgage backed securities (MBS) would
deteriorate in stressed markets. Between issuing a mortgage and securitising it, there will always be a
time lag and to cover that NR relied on wholesale interbank funding in the short dates (up to 3
months). This source quickly disappeared as banks pulled any limits. The building society had then to
go to their lender of last resort, the Bank of England, and with that news hitting the headlines, ordinary
depositors queued up outside branches to get their own money out. This was the first run on a UK
bank in 150 years. Eventually NR was taken over by the state. In the context of this case it s
interesting to note that the run was caused by what I would consider over transparency . The Bank of
England had a rule that obliged them to publish the names of institutions that used its liquidity support
facility and allied with a lack of satisfactory deposit insurance their depositors took their money and
ran. Maybe the rule is not so suitable in

Martin Heidigger s Response To Modernity Analysis
To understand Martin Heidigger s response to Modernity one would have to examine the relationship
between their notions of Man. Martin Heidigger s concept of Man, a being in the world, is very
different from the Modern view of man as a thinking being. One believes that understanding comes
from a purely subject object perspective wherein the understanding of the world around us is
performed by our internal, completely separate, I because it is perfect and known innately while the
other believes that to be a being is to actively Be , which is the same as Heidigger s notion of Being,
and to Be is to exist or to be engaged in the world therefore connecting being, Being and the world
forming the concept of Dasein or a being in the world. To understand Heidigger s response one would
have to first understand what it is he s responding to. Cogito Ergo Sum summarizes what the Cartesian
man is all about. The idea that to exist is to think separates the world into the inner world and the
outside world; this idea resulted from Descartes search for an absolute truth which does not base its
validity on the external world, because ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Specifically, he looked into what is a human person because when Plato and the other classical
philosophers stated what being was, everybody else just automatically assumed that people just
understood the concept of a being. To this end, Heidigger came up with the belief of Dasein or, Being
in the world which basically meant that to Be, as in to literally exist, as a being involves the act of
engagement in the world we find ourselves

Bicycle Frame Materials Essay
Frame materials
Some of the materials that are used to make bicycle frames include Steel, Aluminium alloys, Titanium
and Carbon fibre. Below is a brief description of Steel, Aluminium and Titanium in relation to bicycle
frames. Thereafter is a more detailed study and comparison of each of the different properties of a
bicycle frame under the candidate materials. This will provide the basis for choosing the best material
for the job.
Steel Steel is the most ordinarily utilized material as a part of bicycle frame. They are solid, simple to
work and generally low in cost, and heavier than numerous other structural materials. Steel frames are
regularly assembled utilizing different sorts of steel alloys like chromoly. Chromoly is low in density,
solid steel. The can be lasted through years of utilization when it resisted and shaped to remove the
overabundance weight. Chromoly has a good flex.
Aluminium Aluminium has a lower density and lower strength compared with steel alloys. They,
however, possess a better strength to weight ratio, giving them notable weight advantages over steel.
Titanium Titanium consolidates numerous characteristics. It has a high strength and it will not corrode
that easily . The titanium frames can be developed with standard tube sizes if compared to the steel
frame of last time because of the sensible stiffness of the Titanium.
Carbon Fibre Carbon fiber composite is an increasingly popular non metallic material commonly used
for bicycle

Nature By Ralph Waldo Emerson
Nature by Ralph Waldo Emerson encourages readers to set aside trivial things in order to find peace
outside of their chamber. While some readers claim Emerson is being unrealistic and that the modern
American is incapable of transcendence, it is untrue. Though it may seem difficult to find solitude in
modern society, it is nowhere near impossible. People who claim that Americans cannot reach
transcendence in nature fail to acknowledge those who really desire transcendence and have found
ways to unplug from the rest of the world and truly reach solitude. The modern American can seem
wrapped up in technology. The invention of modern computers and smartphones brought about easier
ways to communicate with people. These virtual communications are believed to distract from real life
communication. Even though people seem to be consumed by the recent technology boom, many ...

If people are genuinely unhappy with their own lives, spending a day in the forest is not suddenly
going to make their problems vanish. One obstacle that many Americans struggle with is how fast
paces American life is. Most Americans attend highschool, college, and then get a job. The entirety of
American life is spent working. This often creates stress and unhappiness for people. People get so
caught up in the triviality of their work that they forget to take care of themselves. Even though
Americans can be consumed by life at times, it is their choice as to whether or not they want to see the
beauty of nature. Emerson maintains, Nature always wears the colors of the spirit. Emerson is saying
that nature is unchanging, the only thing that can alter someone s view of nature is how he looks at it.
If someone goes into nature, seeking solitude, he is capable of reaching it. If someone goes into nature
with his life problems on his mind, he is bound to be distracted by trivial

The Evolution of Democracy in the Early Republic
The evolution of democracy from the time of President Thomas Jefferson to President Andrew
Jackson can be depicted as a minimal change in conceptually agrarian viewpoints and strong
supporters of equality for the common man. While the two men essentially shared many of the same
beliefs and ideas, there was a noticeable difference to how they acted on them and spoke out about
them.
As the nation s third president, Jefferson organized the national government by his own ideals,
doubled the size of the United States, and struggled to maintain American neutrality in the face of ever
increasing pressure. The seventh President of the United States, Andrew Jackson was a general in the

Jacksonian Democracy favored Laissez faire economics over the proactive federal investments
promoted by the opposing Whig Party ( Jacksonian Democracy , 2017).
Jeffersonians believed in equality and rule by the educated. Jefferson believed education would be the
cure of all evils. He said, Educate the people generally, and tyranny and injustice will vanish like evil
spirits at the dawn of day. (Hart, 1898). Jacksonians thought the best way to end corruption was to
allow all the common people to vote and have their say in their government, however both men
clearly demonstrate that their definition of the common man doesn t include minorities.
On the American frontier, democracy became a way of life, with widespread social, economic and
political equality. The system gradually evolved, from Jeffersonian Democracy or the First Party
System to Jacksonian Democracy or the Second Party System and later to the Third Party System
Jeffersonian and Jacksonian Democracy are the same in just about every regard. Their views and goals
as presidents are the same. Both are in favor of the common man and feel that it is the common people
who should have the biggest influence on government, not the wealthy aristocrats. They also support
states rights and feel that the federal government should not get involved with the states affairs. Both
men s actions clearly show that the common man does not include minorities. Both Jackson

Agile And Agile Software Development
Agile Agile software development refers to a group of software development methodologies e.g.
Dynamics System Development Model, Crystal Methods and Extreme programming (XP
methodology). Agile methods attempt to minimise the risk in software in short time boxes called
iterations. Every iteration includes all the tasks necessary to release the mini increment of new
functionality: planning, requirements analysis, design coding, testing and documentation. At the end
of every iteration the priorities will be evaluated. Agile methods emphasise real time communication,
preferably face to face instead of written documents. Agile methods also emphasise working software
as the primary measure of progress. Agile methods produce very little documentation compared to
other methods. Most Agile teams are located in a bullpen and include all the people necessary to finish
the software. (1) (3) Crystal Methodology Crystal Methodology is one of the most lightweight and
adaptable approaches to software development which focuses on people, interaction, community,
skills and talents and communications. Crystal is actually made up of a family of agile methodologies
such as Crystal Clear, Crystal Yellow, Crystal Orange and others. This refers to the underlining core
which represents values and principals. The principal is that each team has a different set of talents
and skills and each team should use a process uniquely tailored to it. (1) Dynamic Systems

  • 2. Naming In Tea Cake By Zora Neale Naming is an important way in which readers can see hope affirmed or ill fated from the start, because it adds layers of meaning to characterisation. Joe Starks superciliously narrow minded attitude towards life renders his marriage with Janie a stark, bleak and miserable relationship where love slowly bleeds away, (King, 1990) with each thing he denies her, leading to the first real death of her hope: something fell off the shelf inside her... her image of Jody tumbled down and shattered in her mind s eye. Her drifting afterwards and loss of joy in the nature she used to adore emphasises the emptiness of a life lived without hope as there are no more blossomy openings dusting pollen over her man, neither any glistening young fruit where ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Janie is a modernisation of the Roman deity Jana and Vergible is derived from the demi god Virbius, making him King of the woods (King, 1998), which brings hope to their union by adding in an element of the divine thereby raising expectations. Indeed, the readers sees Tea Cake put Janie up on a pedestal and frequently mention that Janie holds da keys tuh de kingdom , reminiscent of her namesake s status as the highest god receiving the veneration she deserves and not da mule of de world as Nanny feared. Sethe is a feminisation merging the Egyptian god Set and Seth from the Old Testament, the former who commits an atrocity upon a family member, and the latter who revives hope in God upon his birth (Mayer, 1993) alluding to the split in her maternal identity for which she needs to seek forgiveness to have hope of redemption. Additionally, Amy becomes worthy of deeper scrutiny given the striking fact that etymologically the name, from the Latin amatus, literally means beloved, (Coonradt, 2005). The purpose of this strong connection between the identities of the white girl and Sethe s daughter respectively, can interpreted by some readers as Morrison s desire to instill hope in future generations that bridging the gulf of racism, is conceivable, by subtly showing humans as being fundamentally the ... Nike Adjusting Her Sandal Analysis Geographical location: The position of Greece at the crossroads between Africa, Asia, and Europe has undeniably played a large role in the diverse and often turbulent history of Greece. Protruding from Europe, Greece hangs precariously southward from the end of the Balkan Peninsula, and slices towards the Mediterranean Sea with dramatic peninsulas and thousands of large and small islands. The Mediterranean Sea offered an easily adaptable climate with mild winters and hot, dry summers, while the mountainous terrain, allowed for multiple easily defensible positions. • 4. The Culture at Google Culture at Google Has there not enough been spoken about the culture at Google? The core of this culture lies in the Founder s philosophy. Google is ruled by its founders. In the book What would Google do? by Jeff Jarvis, there is wonderful line that goes like There is an inverse relationship between control and trust. Trust is established in the process of attracting people to the site and more people that come, the more companies flock to the internet and thus the search engine. This is called a two sided network effect. One cannot survive without the other. This mutual relationship based on transparency and sharing is the core of the movement. Google served as the platform necessary for the interaction between both the sides (the producers and consumers). It gave people control and they used it. The founders of Google worked on this principle. Google is not a slave to Wall Street The reason being Google builds a corporate culture that will deliver its mission, and that it is principally organized to drive innovation. Practices at Google Since Engineers form half of the organization and as they like to do cool things, they can bid to work on anything they want to after their first year at Google. In this case the popular projects get more attention whereas the lesser popular ones don t get attention. It is on the Project leads to sell their ideas to the engineers so that it appeals to their engineers. Innovation is the key driver at Google. As I mentioned ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Cheerios Effect Essay Have you ever wondered why your cereal clusters together after milk is poured or why it sticks to the side of your bowl? Even if you try to pull them apart, they come together again. This is a spectacle that happens every day but we just don t really notice it. Most people don t really realize that it s happening everyday. Using fluid mechanics, we can determine why floating objects come together due to surface tension, viscosity and buoyancy (Grayson, 2014). This cheerios effect also applies to other floating objects such as paperclips. The main principles that cause objects to float together are surface tension, buoyancy and viscosity. Surface tension is caused by the presence ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When cheerios is put in milk, it creates a dent in the milks surface. Milk is attracted to the sides of the bowl; the milk forms a concave shape. The molecules being attracted to the bowl pulls the cheerios to the sides of the bowl. The surface tension under the milk is pulling the molecules down. Even if you try pulling apart the cheerios, the cheerios will stick together again. In water, an object has to be less dense than water to float. The same goes for cereal, which is less dense than milk and allows them to float. In liquids, cohesive forces are strong enough to keep molecules together but weak enough to slide past each other. Fluids with high viscosity have strong cohesive forces and fluids with low cohesive forces have weak cohesive forces. Viscosity can be calculated by its flow rate. Liquids with low viscosity have a high flow rate such as milk and water. Liquids with high viscosity have low flow rates such as honey. Milk has a low viscosity but different types of milk have different viscosity rates. Fat free milk flows faster than milk with fat content. Whole milk has a higher viscosity than fat free/non fat ... State Instability in Somalia State Instability in Somalia: Islamic Extremism Insurgency Historical Amnesia is a dangerous phenomenon, not only because it undermines moral and intellectual integrity, but also because it lays the groundwork for crimes that lie ahead. Noam Chomsky It is nearly impossible to pick up a copy of the New York Times or The Washington Post or turn on CNN and not see scenes of the humanitarian crisis, gangs, piracy, insurgency, and civil war regarding the deteriorating situation in Somalia splashed all over the pages. Due to increased piracy attacks, Somalia has gained world wide attention which has brought to light the declining conditions faced by hundreds of thousands of Somali s. Starvation due to drought, clan ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The rise of Militant Islam in Somalia occurred in the mid 1990 s with the alliance of a group of Muslim legal scholars, clan leaders and business men operating in piracy, who comprised four primary sects of leadership, based upon clan and regional affiliation. These four sects merged to form the Supreme Islamic Courts Council (SICC), and operated with success until it was defeated in 2006 by Transnational Federal Government. The SICC broke apart resulting in splinter terrorist organizations which are now tied to the present rise in piracy off the coast of Somalia. Dissentions among these groups are wide spread. Now that an analysis have been provided with a background of research regarding the composition and reason for militant groups, the research will focus on the case study to test whether these theories modelled remain true within a radical group itself. To reiterate, the conflict analysis will focus on a discussion of the dynamics and origins of the group power, group identity and group purpose, and societal effects of the group. These findings will discuss the role of Islamic extremism, funding by piracy, clan based fighting, and governmental factors which influenced the fall of the Somali state. Let s begin by answering the first question of the composition and structural dynamic of the group. • 7. MERS-COV Infection Lab Report In general, these lab tests fall into two categories: Molecular tests, looking for evidence of active infection. Serology tests, looking for previous infection by detecting antibodies to MERS CoV. Serology tests are for monitoring purposes not for diagnostic purposes (11). Routine confirmation of coronavirus infection based on detection of unique sequences of viral RNA by real time reverse transcriptase polymerase chain reaction (RT PCR) and sequencing. Any testing for the presence of this virus must be performed in appropriately equipped laboratories by staff trained in the pertinent technical and safety procedures. A number of RT PCR assays that are specific for the coronavirus develop and publish. Currently described tests include an assay targeting upstream of the E protein gene (upE)1 and assays targeting the open reading frame 1b (ORF 1b) gene1 and the open reading frame 1a (ORF 1a) gene2. The assay for the upE target is considered highly sensitive, with the ORF 1a assay considered of equal sensitivity. • 8. The Wife Of Martin Guerre Two short novels The Wife of Martin Guerre by Janet Lewis and Good Country People by Flannery O Conner have very different plots, however, many connections can be made between certain characters. A strong example of this would be Arnaud (posing as Martin), and Manley, two antagonists from each of the novels listed above, respectively. In Janet Lewis short novel The Wife of Martin Guerre the main character Bertrande is taken on an emotional roller coaster as her husband Martin doesn t return from a trip he promised would only be a week. Just as she is learning to embrace being the head of the household and a single mother, a man claiming to be the Martin who left her eight long years ago appears out of the blue, throwing her life and emotions into complete chaos. In Flannery O Conners short story Good Country People a woman named Hulga, who is unpleasant to the majority of people, is seduced by a young man, claiming to be nothing more than a simple country boy selling bibles. Later in these short stories, it is revealed that both of these men are not who they claim to be, and their lies caused rather dreadful repercussions. These two antagonists delude Hulga and Bertrande in their respective stories by enticing them with desirable amounts of knowledge and causing them to lose perception of reality by using manipulation throughout the entire plot. The amount of knowledge these two antagonists allowed to show was a major part in how they deceived the protagonists. In ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. Rock Music History Rock music has been very popular for years. Now a day s rock has blended in with the other types of popular music like pop, country and rap. However, none of these other types of music seemed to have as big an impact on people that rock did. Rock n roll, basically controlled the most of the twentieth century, with an entire era of children, teens and young adults to follow. But, where did rock come from? What is rock music, what started it? How did parents react? Rock n roll original started along the Mississippi River Valley (image right, Dennison). The music spread up and down the river, along the railroads and highways that ran near the river (Allen). It also traveled through Tennessee, Illinois, Cumberland and the Missouri rivers also known as the tributaries (Allen). The reason ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It has to do with the beats, melody, elements and rhythm that make up the music. Those are the things that separate music from noise. Though, if you listen to early rock like Maybellene by Chuck Berry and What a Wonderful World by Louis Armstrong it is a little more clearly. When it comes to rock and jazz in specific; they are influenced by different properties around them. Even though jazz and rock are inspired by different things; they are still more alike than to any other type of music. However, they share one distinct difference. In jazz, it uses a shuffle rhythm and rock does not (Kajanova 13). What that means is that the same rhythmic values in rock are used in subtle shifts and digressions to enhance the relax feel of the music; along with an essence and easiness, that s why jazz and rock are different (Kajanova 13). Musical ideas of rock and jazz came from components that came from European folk and stylized dances that were changed into country music. From there it was changed into rhythm and blues and jazz, and lastly it was imported into rock ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Some of the anti competitive behaviours SesamWare might have engaged in are as follows: * Dominance and Monopoly: The Company brought many other competitors and became the dominant force in the software industry. The main motive of the acquisitions seems to be eliminating competition to gain dominance in the market. * Predatory Pricing: The initial contract fee was too low which made it impossible for the other software companies to compete. 3. There is no single authority responsible for the enforcement of international laws. • 11. Operating System And The Computer System Essay Introduction: An operating system is a vital component of the computer system. The common and simple devices like refrigerators and microwave ovens does not have an operating system. The complex systems which handle several components, functions and processes usually have an operating system. The operating system is like the brain of a human being, the brain is an essential organ in the body of human being which sends signals and helps functioning of the human body. Our intelligence, attitude, emotions and senses defines our presence, all these are possible because of our brain. In similar manner, Operating System (OS) is the power behind a computer system. In other words, operating system is brain of the computer and processor is the heart of the computer. A computer is the concatenation of several hardware parts. The operating system manages computer hardware resources and provides common services for computer programs and other application software. Application programs or software usually require an operating system to function. For basic hardware functions such as input and output and memory allocation, the operating system acts as an intermediary between application software and the computer hardware, although the hardware is directly accessed and executed by application code or software directly, the hardware will frequently make a system call to an OS function or be interrupted by it. In simple terms, operating systems track the activities of hardware and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 12. Emily Dickinson Snake Emily Dickinson is highly recognized as being one of the best American poets to ever write. Her legacy lives on through her many published poems and some of her poems that I am sure were lost. When reading Dickinson s work for the first time, some people can interpret her as a stuffy woman who never left the house. But, when you dig deeper into her poems and letters it is revealed that Dickinson was full of whit, sarcasm, and somewhat weird sexual tendencies (weird tendencies for the time period, not so weird in today s society.) A narrow Fellow in the Grass is one of Dickinson s many great poems. This poem is full of layers of meaning, with every aspect of the poem drawing in the reader s attention. The strange wording, the dashes, the question ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In my opinion the snake represents the same thing that it does in the Bible, sin and corruption. In many literary works a snake is represented as sin and I do not think that is any different in this poem. In the Bible the snake is seen as the one who tempts Eve in the Garden of Eden. The devil manifests himself into the shape of a snake which could be the very thing Dickinson was trying to represent through the snake in this poem. Dickinson s background through church could definitely be a reason that she would portray the snake in that way. The speaker in this poem is also symbolic. The speaker is an important element because right in the middle of the poem is when we learn that the speaker is a man, not a woman. Up until that point I assumed that the speaker was a woman because the poet was a woman. A woman or girl could just as easily come upon the same situation with the snake as the boy does, so why is it important that the speaker is a man? I think throughout the whole poem Dickinson uses a heavy amount of personification for the same reason she let us know in the middle of the poem that the speaker was a male. I think she wanted us to see that not everything is as it appears to be. Throughout the poem we have the confusion of the snake as being a snake or a Fellow , the snake being a snake or a whip, and the speaker being one with nature or the snake being a disturbing event. I think Dickinson uses the speaker as another device to remind the reader that just because something looks a certain way in the beginning does not mean it will be the same in the end. The way Dickinson used the setting is another way she tricked the reader into thinking things were one way when they were actually not. In the beginning of the poem the setting is that of an open field, then the reader learns of a boy who is actually the speaker. This completely changes the setting because now the reader is actually in a conversion about the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 13. Missionary Work and Its Evolvement in Christianity In the church s tradition, there are traces of missionary activity and signs of an understanding of mission. People, guided by the Holy Spirit, have lived their lives in a way obeying the will of God and being close to Him. They talked about their faith and the how they know God. After the persecution period, they then have the courage to speak and, hence, they gossip the Gospel everywhere and this gossiping is aided by the power of the Holy Spirit which they received in baptism. This implies that through baptism, every man and woman has the responsibility to share the Goodness of Christ with or without words. But, as time went by, others found it crucial to stay away from worldly allurements by staying in secluded places. They were inspired to stay close to Christ and staying close to Christ is to shun worldly things. This marks the rise of the monastic movements. However, these monastic movements are not mere movements but are missionary activities in themselves because they portray a particular vocation of the Church. They considered mission as moving away from the world and have more time in praying for all people and for the church. Furthermore, this kind of missionary activity has extended even to the lay people, but not living an ascetic life, instead, they proclaim their mission in their day to day experience with their family e.g. a mother s role is a mission towards the children and children towards mothers. • 14. Analysis Of Walter Onth, By Walter Ong Yeast, an article written by Walter Ong in 1990, starts with an explanation of a problem the author believes lies within Catholic institutions. That problem is the challenges the Church faces to be accepting in an ever growing pluralistic world, while also remaining true to it s own values. With situations arising such as non Catholic faculty and students, as well as questions of academic freedom Catholic institutions are found asking themselves where the line is of sharing their own ideas while still remaining flexible and accepting (Ong 1). Ong goes on to explain the etymology of the word catholic in order to prove his future point. He makes the point that although it s common belief that catholic is said to mean universal, or ... He reaches his final solution about how the relationship between a pluralistic society and a Catholic institution should behave. He explains that this parable can be used in three different areas. First, faith in academic subjects should respect the fact that ideas are constantly changing, and the academics being taught should evolve as ideas change. Secondly, faculty don t have to be Catholic, but they should respect the religion in view of the fact that they teach at a Catholic institution, and therefore should represent the character of the institution. Third, as it pertains to students, the institution should continue to spread its influence through classes, but no student should have it forced upon them. Lastly, he relates it to cosmology in saying that as more abstract ideas come into the world of science, the Catholic church needs to absorb these ideas instead of renouncing them. Overall, Ong summarizes the idea of not only accepting, but celebrating differences that the Catholic community finds itself in (Ong 5 6). The reason I picked this article was because Ong makes the point that a Catholic institution should accept students that aren t Catholic, but still have a responsibility to educate, those willing, about ... Have courage to build habit of your own intellect! Is therefore the motto of enlightenment. Kant draws a very profound argument by saying that enlightenment may only be made through a proactive personal exploration of one s own opinions away from the confines of social dogma. • 22. Classical Realism Vs Neorealism Throughout the course of history, it had become customary to assume that a state that is fearful of others and works only to help and protect itself, is the unparalleled genius; this notion is the basis for the political theory of realism. Neorealism, developed sometime after World War II, is a reinterpretation of classical realism, which was originally developed in Ancient Greece(M AT 2017, 80). Kenneth Waltz, whose work helped the transition from realism to neorealism, believed that the structure of the international system was the most important thing to study, being that the international system is anarchic(Haupt, 2017, T2L1, 8). Neorealists have a few core assumptions, including: believing the international system is anarchic, believing states are self interested, and that national security is the most important issue concerning states (Haupt, 2017, T2L1, 8 9). Many, such as John Mearsheimer, mentioned later, use these assumptions to predict what future relations between states, such as China and the U.S. are going to be. As mentioned before, neorealism derived from the theory of classical realism, and though it had evolved over time, power plays the most important role in both classical and neo realism. Neorealism holds the principle that states must look after only themselves because the international system is anarchic. There was an inherent liquidity risk run by NR with this model as their funding was not diversified sufficiently aligned with a failure to realise that market conditions for mortgage backed securities (MBS) would deteriorate in stressed markets. Between issuing a mortgage and securitising it, there will always be a time lag and to cover that NR relied on wholesale interbank funding in the short dates (up to 3 months). This source quickly disappeared as banks pulled any limits. The building society had then to go to their lender of last resort, the Bank of England, and with that news hitting the headlines, ordinary depositors queued up outside branches to get their own money out.
