experiences of a survivor just after the World War who joins the Jewish Underground efforts to form
an independent Israeli state. This novel is closely related to the one Night . The Novel is about a
character named Elisha who like Wiesel s life has to live through the concentration camps as a
youngster growing up. Elisha was a young Israeli freedom fighter whose assignment was to kill the
officer in reprisal for Britain s execution of a Jewish prisoner. She tried to form a free Israeli state,
because she was tired of all of the killings going on in the concentration camps and so forth. She like
many other Jews would have felt so much more comftorable with peace then all the deaths that were
taking place. Throughout the book her voyage is to kill the man that killed a fellow Jewish prisoner for
no apparent reason. This book forwards attention to the life of a young Israeli who struggles through
the Holocaust and wants to maintain peace throughout Israel . She is a diamond in the rough one could
say. Her strong hope was not the same among her fellow Israeli s. The future looked dim and
prospects were low. She had to convince the other and make them all strong in their conviction that

Kolff being quite creative used wooden drums, cell phone tubing, and laundry tubes to create an
apparatus that drew patients blood. The apparatus then cleansed toxins from the blood that transported
the blood back into the patient. Sadly, the first 15 patients only survived a couple days off the machine
that introduced hemodylsis. Kolff wasn t discouraged by this; it only stimulated him to prolong patient

Determined by overstepping so many boundaries already, Kolff improved his hemodylsis machine and
was ready to defeat renal kidney failure once again. In 1945, a disliked Nazi woman was in need of
hemodylis treatment (Academy of Achievement, n.d.). Although many people wanted Kolff to let her
die, he did all he could as a doctor. Ultimately, Kolff s hemodylsis machine saved her life. Wanting to
help others in need, Kolff shipped his hemodylsis machines to the United States, and also to Canada.
In 1946 Kolff completed his postgraduate studies at Groningen and received a P.h.D in medicine
(Pegels, 2010). Accomplishing so many things, many physicians and researchers took great interest in
Kolff. He was then invited to join the research staff of the Cleveland Clinic Foundation in the United
States (Academy of Achievement, n.d.). Accepting this invitation he became an American citizen in

The United States was once a country that enslaved African American people because of their skin
color. America has progressed significantly since slavery was abolished over 150 years ago; however,
there are still significant differences the land of the free continues to make between races in. As Martin

minorities, specifically African Americans, are being unfairly targeted and arrested for marijuana

When looking at Madonna with the Long Neck, the colors are subdued and dull but his use of color
with the High Renaissance formula the primary colors. In terms of mannerism, elongation was thought
to create a more elegant and graceful look, which may be one of the main reasons why Mannerist art
contained a lot of unnatural looking human figures. In the painting, I see a lot of elongation being used
in different areas as well as oddly proportioned bodies. Madonna herself has a very extended neck,
which holds up her smaller sized head making her look unusual and abnormal. Below her neck, I see
her unnaturally slanted shoulders and her elongated fingers resting on her chest. Her legs also appear
to be very long as they look much bigger than her narrow upper body. This makes for Madonna being
a very colossal and dominant figure. Furthermore, when comparing Madonna to the women who stand
beside her, Madonna is huge. In Madonna s lap is her baby Christ who also has unnaturally long
features. The body of baby Christ is so long especially his legs. It looks like a much older boy. I think
Pontormo wanted the audience to focus more on the bodies and the drama, rather than the specific

The image in Fig. 1a shows that the MWCNTs form a dense and open matrix of high surface area. The
MWCNTs are 4 5 µm in length and 60 100 nm in diameter. The presence of Ni NPs on the MWCNT
surfaces in Fig. 1b does not influence the structure of the MWCNT matrix, leaving it quite open and
accessible to the electrolyte. In order to clearly show the presence of Ni NPs on the MWCNTs,
transmission electron microscopy was conducted. Fig. 1c shows a TEM image of MWCNT prior to
deposition of Ni NPs by PLA. The walls of the MWCNT are smooth and void of any observable NPs.
Fig. 1d contrasts the TEM image shown in Fig. 1c by displaying a Ni NP decorated MWCNT. It can
be seen that the Ni NPs are uniformly distributed along the MWCNT, covering the entire surface. The

negatively asserts that technology has changed the way we socialize and communicate by sacrificing
conversation for our mere connection to each other through technology and allowing that connection
to replace the former. In the same vein, Nicholas Carr s Is Google Making Us Stupid? establishes the
idea that technology has altered the way we critically read and think for the worse. As the title of his
article suggests, Google (more broadly the internet) has simplified our reading style, and in turn is
making us stupid . I choose to defy both these notions. Technology hasn t become the catalyst for a
society where we lose the ability to have social connections or critically read and think. Rather,
humans have adapted to change through the use of technology as a new way of thinking, reading,
