SOCIAL SKILL LEVELS OF STUDENTS OF SOCIAL WORK: DO OUTSIDE ACTIVITIES
MAKE A DIFFERENCE?
The study tries to compare the social skill levels of 97 students in the Department of Social Work
Faculty of Economic and Administrative Sciences, Hacettepe University, who participate and those
who do not participate in activities outside classroom. The data obtained through the research shows
that there is a meaningful relationship, statistically, between certain demographic characteristics of the
students and their scores on social skill inventory sub scales; and proving that the total social skill
scores of those who participate in artistic, sports and any other social activities are ... Show more

Therefore, social work education differs from other social science disciplines and involves more than
solely an information accumulation process. The Basic Characteristics of Social Work Social work
aims to empower those who are vulnerable and living under oppression and/or poverty, to increase
social welfare by taking human needs as the basis, and to meet the needs of all people (Haynes 1998:
501). The
comprehensive focus of the discipline is one of the difficulties, which has direct impact on social work
education and educators. This difficulty stems from the fact that the discipline of social work aims to
intervene in any problem at any level which appears or is likely to appear in the social structure.
Indeed, those working in the field of social work are expected to possess the information and skills
necessary for the discipline to achieve these objectives. Social work is defined also as an art besides
being defined as an academic discipline and a profession. It is, therefore, very important that social
work education is designed to cover all these scores. So how can the qualities that a social worker
must possess be defined? Johnson (1995: 41) provides an answer to this question. Johnson defines
social work as a creative mixture of knowledge, values and skills; therefore, only having one part of
this mix is not sufficient to perform social work. Johnson (1995: 57) argues that integrating the
knowledge, values and skills required in

The Leo Constellation In Greek Myth
Personally, my favorite constellation happens to be the Leo constellation. I imagine that the main
reasoning behind this preference is simply that it was the first constellation that I had ever heard of,
due to my mother s sudden talk of zodiac signs. Then, of course, she soon informed me that it was
actually my zodiac sign. I found it to be a rather nice thing to learn at a young age. Of course, there is
far more to the constellation than just being my zodiac sign. It s brightest star is Regulus, and Leo is
also best seen during the month of April. In Greek Mythology, Leo represented the Nemean Lion,
which was slain by the hero Heracles (called Hercules in Roman Mythology). The Lion would kidnap
damsels in distress to hold as hostages,

about how Eleanor Roosevelt helped Marian Anderson ge6t through the restriction of the DAR and
help her perform at the Lincoln Memorial. Eleanor Roosevelt did many good things, and because of
this it is easy to describe her. Eleanor Roosevelt has done many good things. One piece of evidence is,
¨Mrs. Roosevelt submitted her letter of resignation.¨One reason this was good was because the DAR

Names In Charlotte Bronte s Jane Eyre
Significance of the Characters Names Jane Eyre, a gothic themed book, by Charlotte Bronte, is about
a girl named Jane, who lives with her abusive aunt, goes to an orphan school called Lowood, becomes
a governance for a girl named Adele, meets her cousins the rivers, and ended up marring a Mr. Edward
Rochester. This book took place in the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland. The major
characters being Jane Eyre, Mr. Rochester, St. John, Bertha Mason, Helen Burns, the reeds, and Ms.
Temple. With this in mind, I believe that throughout the book, Charlotte Bronte uses the character s
names, to symbolize the characteristics of the characters. To start off, Charlotte Bronte uses Jane Eyre

Temples name to symbolize that she is a pleasant person. I can infer tis due to Ms. Temples full name
being Maria Temple, Maria being the name of Jesus mother, and temple being a place of worship,
combined showing a sort of pleasant, even sweet atmosphere. First of all, we see this when Hele gives
us a brief description of Ms. Temple, Miss Temple is full of goodness: it pains her to be severe to
anyone, even the worst in the school: she sees my errors, and tells me of them gently: and, if I do
anything worth of praise she gives me my meed liberally (Bronte 67). With this in mind, we can
clearly tell Miss Temples, pleasant nature, as she cares about Helen, correcting her faults just as a
mother would, connecting back to her first name Maria. Moreover, we see her pleasant nature connect
to her last name Temple by a description given by Jan, Miss temple had always something of serenity
in her air, of state in her mien, of refined propriety in her languages... chastened the pleasure looked
on her and listened to her (Bronte 86). For this reason, we see Miss Temples pleasant nature due to her
having serenity, and people who look at her and listen to her, just as people would at a temple, being a
pleasant experience for some. Therefore, Miss Temples name shows her pleasant nature, due to the
actions she takes, and how others view

Should Books Be Taught In Schools
Throughout the course of education, certain books are an informative resource to develop and learn
new knowledge in progressing the brain ability to understand fundamental issue. The United States
educational school boards and professors have the responsibility for protecting their student s mind
and cover the appropriate material for their students decision. However, does this responsibility cover
the extreme act of no dignity from challenging certain books in the school library or public library?
The repetition of censoring books in school has been widespread due to the explicit content of
inappropriateness. Oftentimes books are challenged without literally understand the content by
judging the author s covers. When a book consists of offensive or sexual material, then parents would
challenge the schools to prevent their children from reading them. Certain kinds of books are being
challenged, challenge or banned books infringed upon the student s freedom to read what they want in
school which leads to ignorance on controversial topics.
First, the decision in which books should be restricted from children depends on the level in maturity

The Importance Of Setting In Cress By Meyer
The setting in a book is so important it can make the plot more exciting or very long and dreary. The
setting can make or break the characters in the book. When the author does not explain the setting
every well it can make the reader confused as to what else is going on in the plot. In Cress there are
examples of an exciting setting, how the characters develop, and how the great detail of the setting is
explained.
In Cress, Meyer the author, shows the diversity of a setting can keep the reader on their toes. Meyer
tells the stories of old fairytales that we all know and makes them new. We follow Cinder and Captain
Thorn out of Bajine out to outer space to save Cress that is in a satellite and then to the middle of the
sahara desert. Her shoulder collided with Niels and she started to fall backward, but then he was
gripping her by the elbow and hauling her against him. (Meyer 328). In this Cress has been captured
and brought to the doctor that likes to test the Lunar to get a cure for the plague. But Cress would have
never gotten taken if Thorn had left her at the hotel then she would still be safe. The reader never gets

not being able to get all they can from reading the book. Reading a book should be like an adventure
taking the reader to many places that they would dream about and it is the author s job to give that to
the reader. Making sure that the author does this they should be able to read what they have written
without any confusion about what is happening in the setting. The setting gives the reader a hint about
character development, keeping the reader s interest and giving a clear image of the setting to the

North and Central Florida Springs Essay
Introduction Groundwater is the largest and most available usable source of drinking water in the
state. There is a vast and mysterious system of caves and natural springs in North Central Florida. The
cave system within the aquifer is one of the most amazing parts. The caves are remarkable in many
ways. They are among the deepest and longest in the world, let alone the U.S. Another amazing aspect
of the system is the purity of the water. The springs collectively produce billions of gallons of crystal
clear water per day. The whole system stems from the Florida Aquifer that rests under the entire state.
When most people think of Florida, they think of the weather and the beaches, but its the springs and
the whole water ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The thousands of tourists and residents that enjoy these springs are a very good reason to protect and
cherish them. The recreation is not as important to preserve as the quality and amount of drinking
water that the springs produce. The joy that the springs give so many people and the revenue they
could generate are valid reasons to be concerned about their condition and their future. The labyrinth
of caves has been a favorite of cave divers for more than 40 years. The diving can be quite dangerous
though. Without proper precaution and safety measures divers can very well get lost or trapped in the
caves. In the last 40 years or so, about 300 divers have died in the caves. Communities have always
been based around the springs. Everyone from the Native Americans to the settlers would have used
the springs for food and water. These springs made life in Florida possible and their importance and
heritage needs to be remembered and appreciated. Small communities like Ichetucknee are completely
dependent on their spring for their way of life. The spring and surrounding community are a cultural
landmark. When the springs become endangered, the communities and the small town way of life for
North and Central Florida become endangered. Ichetucknee Springs are endangered, just as many
across the state are. Chemicals and waste from Lake City, a town 15 miles away are showing up in
trace amounts in the spring. The

Regulations for the air travel industry are getting even more stringent. The European Union authorities
demand that airlines operate in an open, transparent manner. Any state subsidies to airline companies
are prohibited in order to make working conditions equal to anyone and to boost competition in the
industry. There are also regulations in place for airlines not to exceed certain levels of noise and air

transactional because under his management people tried to work harder and achieve challenging
goals and felt commitment to what they were doing. FT called O Leary one of the 25 greatest
European business stars ( A head for numbers, a shrewd marketing brain, and a ruthless competitive
streak ).
4. The Competitive Environment
In order to understand the competitive environment, it is useful to carry out the Porter s Five Forces
Analysis:
Barriers to Entry High because as the case suggests only early entrants such as Ryanair can succeed.
There has been much industry shake out and many airlines have gone bust. High entry costs due to the
necessity to buy expensive aircraft and equipment, pay to airports, and advertise massively. In the
market where one competes on cost and not on differentiation, it is hard to attract customers from
incumbent airlines.
Threat of substitutes Medium to high. Although low cost carriers have taken over some share of car
ferries and buses, high speed trains in Europe, especially on short haul routes are posing an
increasingly serious threat. The speeds of the train are ever increasing and new routes are constantly
being added, which compounds the situation.

The World Of Ancient Persia
In the sixth century B.C, the land that we now call Iran was the center of the largest empire in the
world. The kings of Ancient Persia( such as Cyrus the Great) were the leaders of a great civilization
that made amazing advances in laws, goverment and communication. Founded in 550 B.C by King
Cyrus the Great, the Persian Empire spanned from Egypt in the west to Turkey in the north, and
through Mesopotamia to the Indus River in the east. Unlike most empires at that time, the Persian
kings were benovelent rulers, and allowed a diverse variety of diffrent people with diffrent ethnic

Christianity and Islam as well as Judaism. However others who came from diffrent ethnic backgrounds

could do anything he wanted and the only thing that could stop him was rebellion from his people. But
the king wanted to control his people and protect the weak, so the empire began to have satrapes. A
satrap was usually part of the royal family and carried out the laws of the goverment and did deeds
such as collecting taxes, keeping the roads safe, putting down rebels and criminals, and enforcing
peace. Satraps were also judges of criminal and civil cases in their legion. At times of war, satraps
could act as military commanders. However most satraps were not trustworthy and in order to keep

Fine Art And Commercial Art
Fine Art and Commercial Art With rapid economic growth and improving technologies, many artists
are increasingly become interested in commercial art. This trend is mainly influence by the fact that
the financial gains in commercial art are much greater than in fine art. Since the designers are
instructed on what to do by their clients, their level of creativity and ingenuity is minimized. This is
partially attributed to the fact that many people have misunderstood the true meaning of fine art.
However, other factors include market preferences and tastes. The corporate world wants to produce

In this case, the artist is hired and is subjected to the employers preferences and constraints. In most
cases, the artists are not credited for the work. The main purpose of commercial art is communication.
A commercial artist organizes information in an effective visual presentation to portray the virtues of a
particular service or product. In most cases the employers hire commercial artists to create
advertisements, animations and illustrations, which conveys a message intended for consumers.
Communication is therefore decisively important in this field. Conversely, the definition of fine art has
been generally misunderstood to mean artistic works that are of high quality. However, an important
aspect that should be included in the definition of fine art is that the artists adhere to the purity of their
style or discipline. This implies that fine art should be judged based on its aesthetic value,
meaningfulness and beauty. Notably, unlike commercial artists, fine artists are self motivated and
decide on what they want the artwork to look like. Furthermore, they are motivated by the desire to
express their ideologies rather that communication. Due to the lucrative nature of art
commercialization, many fine artists prefer to practice both disciplines. Artists, such as Bob Gill, Ben
Shahn, Robert Weaver and Robert Peak,

The Battle Of Northern Virginia

history, even surpassing Pearl Harbor and even to the surprise of many, D Day. This battle was one of
many in the Maryland campaign for the Confederacy, but this battle will cost the Confederacy many
lives that will be of more significance to the Confederacy then the Union, as they have a larger
population to pull troops from. The Battle of Antietam was fought in the city of Sharpsburg, Maryland

Now the Union army had one major advantage, which you can also see throughout the whole war, and
that is the sheer numbers the Union had and could produce compared to the Confederacy. In the Battle
of Antietam, the Union army consisted of 65,000 men, where as the Confederacy only consisted of
40,000. One huge advantage that the Union had in this before the battle is originally General Robert E.
Lee planned on fighting somewhere else, but Confederate curries lose the opord for the attack which
Union cavalry found bringing it back to General McClellan giving him a massive advantage. Another
advantage the Union army has in this battle is the battle occurred in Maryland, which is Union
territory giving them the better advantage of using the terrain to their advantage. The beginning of the
battle started at the Battle of South Mountain. This was an attack led by 38,000 Union soldiers against
only 12,000 defending Confederate troops, where the Confederate soldiers ended up being pushed
back around dusk before the main battle began. By the end of this pre battle the Union ended up with
2,500 Union casualties and the Confederate taking a loss of 3,800 casualties. The significant factor of
this was General Lee made it look like he outnumbered General McClellan, but if he were to use his

point for the United States. As the United States was coming out of the Great Depression, World War
two had started. Since World War two had just started, the Americans had suffered even more
hardships. World War two started in 1939 and ended in 1945. The United States entered the war in
1941 because of the surprise attack on Pearl Harbor. World War two was the deadliest war to happen
to this date. During this time period, the Holocaust was occurring. During the Holocaust, many Jews
were totally annihilated with some other minor groups. Adolf Hitler had risen to power and became
dictator of Germany. About six million Jews had died during this time period. The Germans
surrendered on May 8, 1945. In total there was about 64 million deaths all across the world during this
war. These deaths include both military, but also just civilians. Many Jews and other groups of people

A Descriptive Essay About My House
In my lifetime, I have lived in 4 different homes. None of them can even compare to the very first
home I lived in, in my hometown of Allentown, Pennsylvania. It was a quaint duplex home that was
on a tranquil street underneath a towering maple tree. Nothing will ever be able to replace its
permanent spot in my heart. Through my eyes, my house seemed like a castle and I was the princess.
The backyard was my favorite part of the whole house. It was always so luminous with dew and the
lingering smell of petrichor in the air. The grass always felt as soft as silk. It almost seemed like little
feathers tickling your feet. The lawn was also filled with plants of all shapes and sizes, varying from
as dainty as a dandelion, to as mighty as a pine tree. My favorite plant in my backyard were the
clovers, which grew in copious amounts. Whenever I was bored, I would search for four leafed
clovers in hopes of having eternal luck. Walking along the side of the house, you can see the different
shades of red and white bricks used to build the home that I admired so much. At the base of the
house, next to the gigantic maple tree, grew a running vine that had massive green leaves. That vine
grew us pumpkins that we used to carve and make our own homemade pumpkin pie. Then, there was
the front of the house that was built with oversized, textured, white bricks. In the center of the house
was a large window. Below it was a green and silver aluminum awning that reflected

E.E Evans-Pritchard Once Said, “I Have Often Been Asked
E.E Evans Pritchard once said, I have often been asked whether, when I was among the Azande, I got
to accept their ideas about witchcraft. I suppose you can say I accepted them. I had no choice. In my
own culture, I rejected Azande notions of witchcraft. In their culture, I accepted them. In a kind of
way, I believed them. In the documentary Sir Edward Evans Pritchard: Strange Beliefs, the research of
British social anthropologist E.E. Evans Pritchard on the Zande tribe of central Africa and the Nuer
tribe of Sudan is highlighted. As a good anthropologist should, Evans Pritchard immersed himself in
his fieldwork and attempted to look at foreign cultural values from the perspective of the culture he
was observing.

He is deeply democratic and is easily roused to violence. His turbulent spirit finds any restraint
irksome and no man recognizes a superior . This cultural attitude towards independence has led the
Nuer to function without a real system of governance. While there are chiefs in Nuer society, the role
of chief tends to be limited to that of a mediator.
The findings of E.E. Evans Pritchard serve as an example of the importance of ethnographic fieldwork
and cultural relativism. People have an inherent tendency to drift towards ethnocentrism if they do not
keep an open mind about the legitimacy of foreign cultural ideas. Enculturalization occurs from the
very beginning of one s life. When one grows up in a culture that praises traits that are deemed as
beneficial and discourages behaviors that are seen as harmful, one tends to develop similar beliefs on
these traits and behaviors. Different cultures encourage different outlooks on society. This is the result
of the environment a culture exists in. In many tribal societies, one of the primary influences on
culture is the physical environment. However, in technologically advanced societies that worry less
about satisfying needs and more about fulfilling desires, social aspects are perhaps more significant.
For example, note the difference between American and Japanese culture. American culture promotes
individualism and free speech. Many Americans tote the Constitution and the Bill of Rights

Freud s Ego-Defense Mechanisms
Freud had studied many clients during psychotherapy sessions, (Hunt, 2007). He conjectured that the
id, ego, and superego were three main constituents of every individual, (Butcher, Mineka, Hooley,
2013). Freud believed that these three components might strive for different goals at times, which
leads to struggle and anxiety that the conscious limits with the use of defense mechanisms, (Butcher,
Mineka, Hooley, 2013). Defense mechanisms also known as ego defense mechanisms, mental
maneuvers that aid in pacifying anxiety in the unconscious rather than dealing with the worrisome
physical situation itself, (Butcher, Mineka, Hooley, 2013). A few types of defense mechanisms are
projection, displacement, and repression, (Butcher, Mineka, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

I study the material and take extensive notes; however, when I have to take tests I have an immense
amount of anxiety. I go through the test and I go back through the test a second and sometimes third
time to see if I can correct answers that I felt, I did not know. Each time I do this, I find that I end up
changing answers that were correct to incorrect. I have gotten extremely upset in the past because I
have done poorly on tests and I will be upset enough to be snippy with my husband and kids rather
than myself for changing answers I thought were accurate, but I second guessed myself. My children
were extremely noisy or arguing while I was taking the test and my husband did not stop their
bickering, so I had to step away from the timed tests to discipline them. Furthermore, this upset me
and I would lay the blame on my husband for his lack of action to keep the girls quiet while I was
testing or take them out of the house. Ultimately, I could have tried to take the test at a different time
when no one was home or I could have not gone back and changed answers. My using displacement
made me feel better about my not doing well because I put part of the blame on my husband or
children. Now days, I take my quizzes when no one else is home and I still need to work on not going
back to change answers, but at least I am owning my mistakes and finding alternative ways to lessen
my test anxiety. The third defense mechanism, repression, is something that I also have utilized
tremendously. According to Jones, repression was one of Freud s most distinguished and innovative
contributions to psychoanalysis, (as cited in Hunt, 2007). One could understand repression as the
denial of the presence of something that is the foundation of anxiety for an individual, which includes
the unconscious, (Schultz Schultz,

Texas Is A State Of The Wild Frontier
Texas Texas is a state that is dearly loved by its inhabitants, and even some who do not live there.
Despite how many people love it, there are a lot of people who dislike Texas and the pride Texans
have for it. Texas fought for independence from a country much larger than itself, and then chose to
become a part of the United States, while still reserving the right to secede. Many people do not take
into accord the reasons why Texans are so proud. Perhaps the most famous Texans are men who weren
t even born in the state. David Davy Crockett won himself the nickname King of the Wild Frontier

Crockett knew of a few of President Jackson s corrupt ways, and after calling him out on these things,

any longer, my constituents can go to hell, and I will go where people need me, that place being Texas
(Kubiak 87 88). This is a quote that became very popular among modern Texans after being shortened
to You may all go to hell, and I will go to Texas. When he arrived in Texas in January of 1836 with
twelve other men, he read the oath of Texas allegiance. He turned down a position of command, and
stated that he wanted to defend the most defenseless part of the Alamo (Kubiak 102, 90). The first shot
fired at the Battle of the Alamo was by Davy Crockett, which caused the first blood to fall. It was
reported that Davy Crockett hit his target at least 300 feet away. After the Texan soldiers had been
destroyed, Santa Anna sent in his men to find the leaders of the Texans. They found David Crockett
amidst a room full of dead Mexican soldiers (Kubiak 91). David Crockett has since been named a hero

The Next Three Years Performance
In the research, the next three years performance is estimated by different stage. Generally speaking,
the first stage will be only the next year 2016, which is basic on the average historical performance.
The second stage will be 2017 and 2018, the growth is assumed to keep about 9.6 % per year. In
addition, all the figures in this part are calculated by Danish Kroner.
Basic on the last five years income statement, sales in Novo Nordisk will increase from DKK 107927
million in 2015 to DKK 134004 million in 2018. However, the operating profit might decrease from
2015 and the operating margin will also decrease relatively. On the other hand, the net income and net
margin will rise to DKK 46900 million during the future three years. This is because the operating
cost in Novo Nordisk will has an unusual increase in the future, which should be concerned.
As the graph shows, the finance situation presented a fluctuated change during the past five years. It
may has a stable growth from DKK 9933 million in 2016 to DKK 14928 million in 2018. Debt in this
graph is assumed only long term debt that is zero, which is the reason why the leverage is zero during
the past five years.
According to the disclosure of Novo Nordisk balance sheet, the book value per share has an improving
trend from 2011 to 2018, expect 2016. The cash flow per share will also increase in the future three
years. Although it is difficult to accurate analyze the reason why the book value will decrease in 2016,

Application of the Vitalistic and Mechanistic Philosophies...
With regards to vitalism and mechanism, there lacks a distinct boundary separating these two
scientific philosophies. However, their implications and biases when slanted either particular way are
significant enough to observe. Natural history has been the subject of great debate, scrutiny, and
passion amongst many scientists from early on in biology to present times. Currently mechanism has
risen to be the dominant theory in biology, but not without hardship and deep philosophical reasoning
supported by empirical evidence. To understand these two philosophies, it s imperative to establish a
clear understanding of what each category represents. The mechanistic philosophy purports that life
operates as mechanical process governed by the fundamental physical laws provided via the universe.
This philosophy goes further in thought that there is not necessarily a designer or ultimate purpose for
the execution of life in general. In contrast, vitalist philosophy claims that there is an innate specific
quality and function that gives existence its ultimate characteristics. Folks in this line of thought tend
to argue further that there is definite design and purpose living entities, implying the existence of a
celestial super power or being that interacts making life what it is. A pronounced example of a
naturalist who conceded with this line of thought was Georges Louis Leclerc, comte de Buffon.

A Midsummer Night s Dream Vs Hoffman
Love triangles or love squares are often featured in romantic comedies today. William Shakespeare
introduced the genre and perfected it when he wrote A Midsummer Night s Dream (Bevington). A
Midsummer Night s Dream is one of the most popular plays written by Shakespeare. In 1999, Michael
Hoffman directed a film adaptation of the play under the same name. While Hoffman kept true to the
dialogue, he changed and added some details to the play and consequently, nullified the play s mirth
and good humour. The movie and the play are similar but differ from each other in various ways.
Shakespeare set the story in Athens in the 1500s and Hoffman set it in an Italian village in the 1900s.

Ethical Issues Surrounding Genetic Screening and Genetic Engineering
In today s modern age science is moving at a rapid pace; one of those scientific fields that has taken
the largest leaps is that of genetics. When genetics first comes to mind, many of us think of it as a type
of science fiction, or a mystical dream. Yet genetics is here, it is real, and has numerous ethical
implications. One of the particular areas of interest is prenatal genetics. In this field, many new and
outstanding innovations have been made. A mother and father can now check for a large array of
disorders that could occur in their child; sexual preference has now been shifted from the hands of a
higher being to that of someone with a Ph.D.; ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In this brave new field, there have been many steps and strides taken of which we could have never
imagined. For instance, before a mother and father decided to carry out the process of having
offspring, they can visit a genetic clinic to figure out if their child is likely to have certain illnesses. A
list of such illnesses are: Down syndrome, cystic fibrosis, dwarfism, breast cancer (susceptibility to),
fragile X syndrome, Huntington s Disease, Duchenne muscular dystrophy, and various types of
nervous system degeneration (Golden 51). These are only a few of the nearly 40 types of disorders
that can be determined by genetic testing. It may be rather nice to know that a child does not have a
genetic disease, but what does a couple do if the results of a genetic test are returned with negative
results? Also, if the information from the test is ambiguous the couple might decide not to carry out
the pregnancy due to risk. In a 1999 article written by Frederic Golden, he questions if the child
should be brought into the world ...in hopes that a cruel disease can be managed or cured... or if the
fetus should be aborted. He also poses the question of insurance coverage. This might seem like a
rather odd comment to make. Insurance is insurance isn t it? And for the most part we all have it. Yet
this brings us into another issue about genetics, privacy. Our genetic code is consistent throughout our
entire lives. It is who we are. Will insurance coverage be available

The Christian s Acts Of Faith
We ve all been there before, searching for something to watch on TV, 500 channels and nothing

QUIT TRYING TO UNDERSTAND IT ALL! LET GO AND LET GOD! For some that may be the
solution they are searching for. They might be frustrated or let down by their own efforts of
understanding. But does faith begin with letting go (of reason and understanding) and letting God
(reveal Himself to us) ? Is there any compatibility between exercising Christian faith and exercising
reason? Does reason have a role or should it have a role in the Christian s acts of faith? This has been
a topic of discussion throughout history by many great thinkers. I am going to attempt to show that
reason has an active role in exercising the Christian faith; at least attempt to show that reason and faith
aren t mutually exclusive. I will briefly discuss (1) different views of the philosophical divide taken by
philosophizers over the ages (2) and biblical evidence of the use of reason (3) definition of biblical
faith.
The apparent conflict between faith and reason has brought much trouble to believers and non
believers alike through the centuries. Influences like Immanuel Kant in his Critique of Pure Reason

faith (1965, B:XXX) and Soren Kierkegaard held that the absolute limit to which our reason

Notes On Time Management Through Delegation
Time Management Through Delegation
A personal goal for this project is time management through delegation. The Plan Do Check Act cycle
(PDCA) is a tool that will be used to develop a plan for quality improvement and achieve the goals
that would be beneficial for the nurse and patient care outcomes. The personal goals are to discharge
all patients with finished documentation according to the certified post anesthesia nurse (CPAN) rules
by using the process of delegation to obtain ancillary help. DELEGATION Delegation is the
cornerstone to being a nurse leader, it facilitates the work effort of the staff to accomplish the mission
and goals of the healthcare organization. The optimum administration of a unit is contingent on how
well the staff functions as a team. One study stated the most intricate skills a nurse leader can have is
delegation; proper judgment and knowledge is required to effectively transfer the authority,
responsibility, and accountability to a subordinate. Understanding the concept of delegation is
essential in conveying an assignment, this is the final accountability for the care of a patient. When
delegation is not effective, valuable resources are substandard (Weydt, 2010).
TIME MANAGEMENT As a critical care nurse working in a post anesthesia care unit the most
valued resources is time management. Resources are the means for a healthcare system to deliver
services; time is a valuable resource

Media, including movies has been an outlet for many directors and screenwriters to express both their

Analysis Of The Speech Of Muhummad Yunas ( A Microfinancier )
Motivated by the speech of Muhummad Yunas (a Microfinancier), Jessica and her husband Matt
Flannery took a trip to Africa where they discovered that small loans (between $100 $150) could
significantly improve the standards of living for people in impoverished nations. They decided to find
KIVA as a non for profit organization, as means to alleviate poverty and inspire entrepreneurs in
developing African countries through crowdsourced microloan financing. Suffering general cash flow
problems since inception, KIVA was able to maintain operations by relying on friends and colleagues
as an initial source of funds, and providing them with non monetary forms of remuneration for
services rendered. Following their failure at starting Care 4 ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Field partners then transfer the funds to the entrepreneurs, whom make loan repayments back to the
Field partners, which then get dispersed to the lenders through KIVA, where they earn a rate of return
and get back their principal amount. KIVA s small scale informal business model makes it easier
manage and helps to foster a more personal relationship for lenders to feel a greater connection to the
person they are helping, with a direct person to person impact encouraging more lenders and a greater
success rate. A major advantage to being a non for profit are the significant cost savings enjoyed
through the use of volunteers as opposed to paid labor, which allows KIVA the ability to offer more
attractive small and interest free loans. KIVA s emphasis on generosity, human connectedness and
community help to reinforce its reputation and to attract organizations that wish to publicly
demonstrate their corporate social responsibility. Though there are many advantages to KIVA, most
are theoretically based on the business structure, model and mission, and as such can only be
actualized if the company reaches a certain level of efficacy; making room for a great number of
potential disadvantages. The business model as an indirect P2P lending platform, forces a heavy
reliance on partners, participating MFIs and

Antitrust Law Violation Of Antitrust Laws
Antitrust Law Violations
Introduction
This paper will discuss the Google case that was presented by Microsoft stating that Google was in
violation of antitrust laws. Also, in this paper some of the pecuniary and non pecuniary costs will be
discussed. Given in this paper will also be my thoughts on monopolies and oligopolies.
Antitrust Case
Google was investigated for antitrust behavior because they were claimed to be an internet bully that
abuses its dominance of online search and advertising (STEINHAUSER LIEDTKE, 2011, p. 1).
Google was doing things like buying smaller companies in search results but then
labeling/highlighting their own services instead. Being that Google was knocking out the competition
by only showing their results ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When dealing with market structures and considering Google as a monopoly, the characteristics of the
monopoly market structure fit. In a sense, Google is being seen as the only producer for internet
search, and is trying to make it seem through their practices that they are the only reliable business in
the industry. Because of the overwhelming market power Google is gaining through the use of other
smaller companies, other businesses such as Microsoft, are beginning to feel that the competition
being created is unfair and favored. Especially with Google blocking out their results as the search
engine is used.
Antitrust as Investopedia pointed out, prohibits a variety of practices that restrain trade, ( Antitrust
Definition | Investopedia , n.d.). According to the complaints of Microsoft, Google was in violation of
the Sherman Act of 1980. The Sherman Act states that, public is best served by free competition in
trade and industry, ( Sherman Anti Trust Act legal definition of Sherman Anti Trust Act , n.d.). Also,
the Sherman Act points out that, it prohibits monopolies attempts to monopolize, or conspiracies to
monopolize. ( Sherman Anti Trust Act legal definition of Sherman Anti Trust Act , n.d). By blocking
out their rivals, and not giving them an equal opportunity to display the information related to the
searches of the consumers, Microsoft felt this was a violation of the Sherman Act. On another note,
after reading the research

The Irish Easter Rebellion 1916 Essay
The 1916 Irish Easter Uprising
Ever since the occupation of Ireland by the English began in 1169, Irish patriots have fought back
against British rule, and the many Irish rebellions and civil wars had always been defeated. To quash
further rebellion, the Act of Union was imposed in 1800, tying Ireland to the United Kingdom of
England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales. Laws discriminating against Catholics and the handling of the
Irish Potato Famine of 1845 50 led to increased tension and the proposal of introducing Home Rule
gained support.
In 1913 there was a general strike of workers in Dublin led by James Connolly of the Irish Transport
and General Workers Union (I.T.G.W.U.). This action was followed by the 1913 Lock Out during

...they have left us our Fenian dead, and while Ireland holds these graves, Ireland unfree shall never be
at peace.
It was a call for a blood sacrifice in order to free Ireland from British rule. In organising an uprising,
the funeral was proof that the Volunteers could organise when secretly directed by the I.R.B. and on
St. Patrick s Day (17th March), Connolly took his Citizen Army on a tour of key Dublin sites which
could be used as strategic strongholds during an uprising.
However, there were many difficulties in organising and executing such a rebellion and one thing the
rebels needed were weapons. Sir Roger Casement had organised for a shipment of as many as 200,000
rifles to be smuggled into Ireland on a neutral German freighter, the Aud. But when Casement arrived
in Ireland on a German submarine he was arrested immediately and the freighter was intercepted by
the Royal Navy and scuttled itself. Another attempt was made to gain large quantities of arms and
ammunition during the actual uprising from the arsenal at Phoenix Park known as Magazine Fort.
However this was not very successful and the rebels seized only a few rifles.
Throughout the organisation of the rebellion, Eoin MacNeill, leader of the minority Volunteers had to
be kept in the dark about the I.R.B. s plans because he believed that his Irish Volunteers should only
rise in arms if a British

affairs and rightly gave them distinct powers as commander in chief . However, this did not mean that
congress was expected to retreat into the background but instead were given the power to declare war
and to regulate trade. Furthermore, over the years, the inclination of congress to make vast allotments
to presidents have been even more noticeable in the area of foreign policy than in domestic policy. In
foreign affairs, it has typically been viewed that presidents have benefited from the uncertainty of the
governing structure by affirming power not openly granted to them and to implement their policy
agendas in whatever ways they find possible. The Power of Veto The power of the veto granted to the
executive branch is one of the few ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The advancement of technology has created new investigative tools for law enforcement but these
advancements have corresponded with constitutionality challenges under the fourth amendment. The
use of drones as as investigative tool can provide benefits to law enforcement however, the use of
drones can lead to privacy concerns which need to be addressed as well. The use of devices for the
benefit of law enforcement must be examined in regard to both the efficiency and efficacy of law
enforcement techniques as well as the privacy rights of those citizens in which the government wishes
to monitor. According to the Fourth Amendment, people are provided the right to be secure of their
persons, houses, papers and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated,
and no warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause. Furthermore, the amendment forbids the
government from conducting unreasonable searches and seizures which could allow citizens to pursue
lawsuits against those involved with unlawful searches. This leaves the question as to whether reliance
on technology can render a search or seizure unreasonable such through the use of drone surveillance.
Drones are aircraft which function without the presence of individuals within the aircraft and instead
function remotely or independently varying in size from a vessel as small as insect to the size of a
commercial airplane. Furthermore, drones are equipped with high powered cameras, thermal scanners,
license plate readers, moving target indicators, LADAR, LIDAR and facial recognition software. The
use of drones provides a great benefit when used in areas such as mapping, environmental protection,
delivering packages and rescue missions, however, their benefit

Why I Started Working With Dontae
When I started working with Dontae I tried to be open minded and not interact with him with theories
floating around in my mind. I was taught in my undergraduate career that conversations with your
clients should feel natural and because I was nervous to showcase my abilities at a new placement I
did not want say the wrong thing and to ruin my ability to make a deep connection with Dontae later.
In addition I considered that Dontae may not be his true self for at least a week because he would be
new to the program and not know any or many of the other residents. I decided during the initial
intake that although I had read all the faxed documents and psychiatric evaluations on Dontae that I
would speak to him and determine for myself what was going on for him.
During Dontae s initial week at MTR I observed Dontae s interactions with others and assessed his
coping skills. I introjected myself into what he was doing to ensure that he adjusted well to MTR staff
and residents. I began to formulate some thoughts as to what was happening for Dontae but tried to
keep an open mind about him as a person. Moreover during the course of my work with Dontae I
began by making sure that I aligned myself with Dontae and made sure that he understood that I was
here to help him rather than hurt him. I made sure that Dontae felt like I cared about him and that he
understood that his all around wellbeing is a priority for me. My purpose for aligning myself with
Dontae and creating a working

Mind and Body
Mind and Body The concept of mind and body interactions has been debated among many modern
philosophers. Some believe that our minds and bodies are different things, thus existing separately,
while others believe that they exist as a whole. In this paper, I will be introducing two rationalist
philosophical views regarding this topic, one which is by Rene Descartes and the other by Gottfried
Wilhelm Leibniz. Rationalists, in philosophical terms, are the ones who obtain their knowledge
through reasoning rather than the human senses. Descartes and Leibniz both have similar perspectives,
but Leibniz takes a slightly different approach to improve Descartes argument. This paper will first
show Descartes original argument, an example that proves the argument to be invalid, and then lastly,
a revised version of the argument with Leibniz s help. Rene Descartes is a modern French philosopher,
who is famous for his line, I think, therefore I am. The meaning of this quote is that he must exist
because he has the ability to think. In Descartes most famous work, The Meditations, he starts off by
doubting everything, which is known as the Method of Doubt. He believes that our senses are always
deceiving us in some way and so our senses are unreliable in proving anything. By this, he means that
when we use our senses, such as our vision, to look at something, the way that the object looks from
afar is different from the way it looks upfront, thus, deceiving us. However, Descartes

Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Therefore, social work education differs from other social science disciplines and involves more than solely an information accumulation process. The Basic Characteristics of Social Work Social work aims to empower those who are vulnerable and living under oppression and/or poverty, to increase social welfare by taking human needs as the basis, and to meet the needs of all people (Haynes 1998: 501). The comprehensive focus of the discipline is one of the difficulties, which has direct impact on social work education and educators. This difficulty stems from the fact that the discipline of social work aims to intervene in any problem at any level which appears or is likely to appear in the social structure. Indeed, those working in the field of social work are expected to possess the information and skills necessary for the discipline to achieve these objectives. Social work is defined also as an art besides being defined as an academic discipline and a profession. It is, therefore, very important that social work education is designed to cover all these scores. So how can the qualities that a social worker must possess be defined? Johnson (1995: 41) provides an answer to this question. Johnson defines social work as a creative mixture of knowledge, values and skills; therefore, only having one part of this mix is not sufficient to perform social work. Johnson (1995: 57) argues that integrating the knowledge, values and skills required in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 6. The Leo Constellation In Greek Myth Personally, my favorite constellation happens to be the Leo constellation. I imagine that the main reasoning behind this preference is simply that it was the first constellation that I had ever heard of, due to my mother s sudden talk of zodiac signs. Then, of course, she soon informed me that it was actually my zodiac sign. I found it to be a rather nice thing to learn at a young age. Of course, there is far more to the constellation than just being my zodiac sign. It s brightest star is Regulus, and Leo is also best seen during the month of April. In Greek Mythology, Leo represented the Nemean Lion, which was slain by the hero Heracles (called Hercules in Roman Mythology). The Lion would kidnap damsels in distress to hold as hostages, ... In Cress there are examples of an exciting setting, how the characters develop, and how the great detail of the setting is explained. The labyrinth of caves has been a favorite of cave divers for more than 40 years. The diving can be quite dangerous though. One huge advantage that the Union had in this before the battle is originally General Robert E. • 22. A Descriptive Essay About My House In my lifetime, I have lived in 4 different homes. None of them can even compare to the very first home I lived in, in my hometown of Allentown, Pennsylvania. It was a quaint duplex home that was on a tranquil street underneath a towering maple tree. Nothing will ever be able to replace its permanent spot in my heart. Through my eyes, my house seemed like a castle and I was the princess. The backyard was my favorite part of the whole house. It was always so luminous with dew and the lingering smell of petrichor in the air. The grass always felt as soft as silk. It almost seemed like little feathers tickling your feet. The lawn was also filled with plants of all shapes and sizes, varying from as dainty as a dandelion, to as mighty as a pine tree. My favorite plant in my backyard were the clovers, which grew in copious amounts. Whenever I was bored, I would search for four leafed clovers in hopes of having eternal luck. Walking along the side of the house, you can see the different shades of red and white bricks used to build the home that I admired so much. At the base of the house, next to the gigantic maple tree, grew a running vine that had massive green leaves. That vine grew us pumpkins that we used to carve and make our own homemade pumpkin pie. Then, there was the front of the house that was built with oversized, textured, white bricks. In the center of the house was a large window. Below it was a green and silver aluminum awning that reflected ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

I suppose you can say I accepted them. I had no choice. In my own culture, I rejected Azande notions of witchcraft. In their culture, I accepted them. In a kind of way, I believed them. In the documentary Sir Edward Evans Pritchard: Strange Beliefs, the research of British social anthropologist E.E. People have an inherent tendency to drift towards ethnocentrism if they do not keep an open mind about the legitimacy of foreign cultural ideas. Enculturalization occurs from the very beginning of one s life. When one grows up in a culture that praises traits that are deemed as beneficial and discourages behaviors that are seen as harmful, one tends to develop similar beliefs on these traits and behaviors. Different cultures encourage different outlooks on society. This is the result of the environment a culture exists in. In many tribal societies, one of the primary influences on culture is the physical environment. However, in technologically advanced societies that worry less about satisfying needs and more about fulfilling desires, social aspects are perhaps more significant. He conjectured that the id, ego, and superego were three main constituents of every individual, (Butcher, Mineka, Hooley, 2013). Freud believed that these three components might strive for different goals at times, which leads to struggle and anxiety that the conscious limits with the use of defense mechanisms, (Butcher, Mineka, Hooley, 2013). Defense mechanisms also known as ego defense mechanisms, mental maneuvers that aid in pacifying anxiety in the unconscious rather than dealing with the worrisome physical situation itself, (Butcher, Mineka, Hooley, 2013). I study the material and take extensive notes; however, when I have to take tests I have an immense amount of anxiety. I go through the test and I go back through the test a second and sometimes third time to see if I can correct answers that I felt, I did not know. Each time I do this, I find that I end up changing answers that were correct to incorrect. I have gotten extremely upset in the past because I have done poorly on tests and I will be upset enough to be snippy with my husband and kids rather than myself for changing answers I thought were accurate, but I second guessed myself. My children were extremely noisy or arguing while I was taking the test and my husband did not stop their bickering, so I had to step away from the timed tests to discipline them. Furthermore, this upset me and I would lay the blame on my husband for his lack of action to keep the girls quiet while I was testing or take them out of the house. Ultimately, I could have tried to take the test at a different time when no one was home or I could have not gone back and changed answers. My using displacement made me feel better about my not doing well because I put part of the blame on my husband or children. Now days, I take my quizzes when no one else is home and I still need to work on not going back to change answers, but at least I am owning my mistakes and finding alternative ways to lessen my test anxiety. The third defense mechanism, repression, is something that I also have utilized tremendously. According to Jones, repression was one of Freud s most distinguished and innovative contributions to psychoanalysis, (as cited in Hunt, 2007). However, their implications and biases when slanted either particular way are significant enough to observe. Natural history has been the subject of great debate, scrutiny, and passion amongst many scientists from early on in biology to present times. Currently mechanism has risen to be the dominant theory in biology, but not without hardship and deep philosophical reasoning supported by empirical evidence. To understand these two philosophies, it s imperative to establish a clear understanding of what each category represents. The mechanistic philosophy purports that life operates as mechanical process governed by the fundamental physical laws provided via the universe. This philosophy goes further in thought that there is not necessarily a designer or ultimate purpose for the execution of life in general. In contrast, vitalist philosophy claims that there is an innate specific quality and function that gives existence its ultimate characteristics. Folks in this line of thought tend to argue further that there is definite design and purpose living entities, implying the existence of a celestial super power or being that interacts making life what it is. Focus lost, she starts to drift towards the inside lane. Without so much as a warning she has lost her life due to the drifting into the guard rail at 60 miles per hour. Analysis Of The Speech Of Muhummad Yunas ( A Microfinancier ) Motivated by the speech of Muhummad Yunas (a Microfinancier), Jessica and her husband Matt Flannery took a trip to Africa where they discovered that small loans (between $100 $150) could significantly improve the standards of living for people in impoverished nations. They decided to find KIVA as a non for profit organization, as means to alleviate poverty and inspire entrepreneurs in developing African countries through crowdsourced microloan financing. Suffering general cash flow problems since inception, KIVA was able to maintain operations by relying on friends and colleagues as an initial source of funds, and providing them with non monetary forms of remuneration for services rendered. A major advantage to being a non for profit are the significant cost savings enjoyed through the use of volunteers as opposed to paid labor, which allows KIVA the ability to offer more attractive small and interest free loans. KIVA s emphasis on generosity, human connectedness and community help to reinforce its reputation and to attract organizations that wish to publicly demonstrate their corporate social responsibility. Though there are many advantages to KIVA, most are theoretically based on the business structure, model and mission, and as such can only be actualized if the company reaches a certain level of efficacy; making room for a great number of potential disadvantages. Antitrust Law Violation Of Antitrust Laws Antitrust Law Violations Introduction This paper will discuss the Google case that was presented by Microsoft stating that Google was in violation of antitrust laws. Also, in this paper some of the pecuniary and non pecuniary costs will be discussed. Given in this paper will also be my thoughts on monopolies and oligopolies. Antitrust Case Google was investigated for antitrust behavior because they were claimed to be an internet bully that abuses its dominance of online search and advertising (STEINHAUSER LIEDTKE, 2011, p. 1). When dealing with market structures and considering Google as a monopoly, the characteristics of the monopoly market structure fit. In a sense, Google is being seen as the only producer for internet search, and is trying to make it seem through their practices that they are the only reliable business in the industry. Because of the overwhelming market power Google is gaining through the use of other smaller companies, other businesses such as Microsoft, are beginning to feel that the competition being created is unfair and favored. Especially with Google blocking out their results as the search engine is used. Antitrust as Investopedia pointed out, prohibits a variety of practices that restrain trade, ( Antitrust Definition | Investopedia , n.d.). According to the complaints of Microsoft, Google was in violation of the Sherman Act of 1980. The Sherman Act states that, public is best served by free competition in trade and industry, ( Sherman Anti Trust Act legal definition of Sherman Anti Trust Act , n.d.). Also, the Sherman Act points out that, it prohibits monopolies attempts to monopolize, or conspiracies to monopolize. ( Sherman Anti Trust Act legal definition of Sherman Anti Trust Act , n.d). By blocking out their rivals, and not giving them an equal opportunity to display the information related to the searches of the consumers, Microsoft felt this was a violation of the Sherman Act. • 44. The Irish Easter Rebellion 1916 Essay The 1916 Irish Easter Uprising Ever since the occupation of Ireland by the English began in 1169, Irish patriots have fought back against British rule, and the many Irish rebellions and civil wars had always been defeated. To quash further rebellion, the Act of Union was imposed in 1800, tying Ireland to the United Kingdom of England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales. Laws discriminating against Catholics and the handling of the Irish Potato Famine of 1845 50 led to increased tension and the proposal of introducing Home Rule gained support. In 1913 there was a general strike of workers in Dublin led by James Connolly of the Irish Transport and General Workers Union (I.T.G.W.U.). This action was followed by the 1913 Lock Out during which ... It was a call for a blood sacrifice in order to free Ireland from British rule. In organising an uprising, the funeral was proof that the Volunteers could organise when secretly directed by the I.R.B. and on St. Patrick s Day (17th March), Connolly took his Citizen Army on a tour of key Dublin sites which could be used as strategic strongholds during an uprising. However, there were many difficulties in organising and executing such a rebellion and one thing the rebels needed were weapons. Sir Roger Casement had organised for a shipment of as many as 200,000 rifles to be smuggled into Ireland on a neutral German freighter, the Aud. But when Casement arrived in Ireland on a German submarine he was arrested immediately and the freighter was intercepted by the Royal Navy and scuttled itself. Another attempt was made to gain large quantities of arms and ammunition during the actual uprising from the arsenal at Phoenix Park known as Magazine Fort. However this was not very successful and the rebels seized only a few rifles. Throughout the organisation of the rebellion, Eoin MacNeill, leader of the minority Volunteers had to be kept in the dark about the I.R.B. s plans because he believed that his Irish Volunteers should only rise in arms if a British ... However, this did not mean that congress was expected to retreat into the background but instead were given the power to declare war and to regulate trade. Furthermore, over the years, the inclination of congress to make vast allotments to presidents have been even more noticeable in the area of foreign policy than in domestic policy. In foreign affairs, it has typically been viewed that presidents have benefited from the uncertainty of the governing structure by affirming power not openly granted to them and to implement their policy agendas in whatever ways they find possible. • 46. Why I Started Working With Dontae When I started working with Dontae I tried to be open minded and not interact with him with theories floating around in my mind. I was taught in my undergraduate career that conversations with your clients should feel natural and because I was nervous to showcase my abilities at a new placement I did not want say the wrong thing and to ruin my ability to make a deep connection with Dontae later. In addition I considered that Dontae may not be his true self for at least a week because he would be new to the program and not know any or many of the other residents. I decided during the initial intake that although I had read all the faxed documents and psychiatric evaluations on Dontae that I would speak to him and determine for myself what was going on for him. During Dontae s initial week at MTR I observed Dontae s interactions with others and assessed his coping skills. I introjected myself into what he was doing to ensure that he adjusted well to MTR staff and residents. I began to formulate some thoughts as to what was happening for Dontae but tried to keep an open mind about him as a person. Moreover during the course of my work with Dontae I began by making sure that I aligned myself with Dontae and made sure that he understood that I was here to help him rather than hurt him. I made sure that Dontae felt like I cared about him and that he understood that his all around wellbeing is a priority for me. My purpose for aligning myself with Dontae and creating a working ... • 47. Mind and Body Mind and Body The concept of mind and body interactions has been debated among many modern philosophers. Some believe that our minds and bodies are different things, thus existing separately, while others believe that they exist as a whole. In this paper, I will be introducing two rationalist philosophical views regarding this topic, one which is by Rene Descartes and the other by Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz. Rationalists, in philosophical terms, are the ones who obtain their knowledge through reasoning rather than the human senses. Descartes and Leibniz both have similar perspectives, but Leibniz takes a slightly different approach to improve Descartes argument. This paper will first show Descartes original argument, an example that proves the argument to be invalid, and then lastly, a revised version of the argument with Leibniz s help. Rene Descartes is a modern French philosopher, who is famous for his line, I think, therefore I am. The meaning of this quote is that he must exist because he has the ability to think. In Descartes most famous work, The Meditations, he starts off by doubting everything, which is known as the Method of Doubt. He believes that our senses are always deceiving us in some way and so our senses are unreliable in proving anything. By this, he means that when we use our senses, such as our vision, to look at something, the way that the object looks from afar is different from the way it looks upfront, thus, deceiving us. However, Descartes ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
