The discovery of PI3K inhibitors in the early 1990s opened up new avenues for cancer research and treatment. Early compounds like quercetin, wortmannin and LY294002 were found to inhibit the PI3K pathway, but their toxicity and insolubility prevented their use as pharmacological drugs. More recent dual inhibitors that target both PDK1 and Aurora A kinases, such as SA16 and IB35, show promise as less toxic alternatives, as they impair cancer cell growth and migration without harming normal cells. Further research is still needed to develop highly effective and safe PI3K/mTOR inhibitors for clinical use in treating cancers.

2. Essay On Stress And Stress
The human body is like a car engine. It needs fuels to be powered for it to run, but instead of fuel
we need food and nutrients to keep a steady metabolism. If too many calories are consumed (being
over 3,500 calories) then those calories turn into adipose or fat. In stressful situations, a person can
become inclined to eat more than or less than recommended and this can lead to a change in their
weight; for example, the infamous freshmen fifteen. The freshmen fifteen are the common weight
gainof college freshmen that is the result of stressful events throughout the first year of school.
While not every student can become subjected to this it is a great example of the affects stress
can have on an individual. Stress and weight gain can affect any person even adolescents. Stress
can influence any individual regardless of age. In a study done (Health and Behavior in Teenagers
Study) 4,065 teens had their weight, height, and waist measured. Over five years those teens had
their waists and BMI measured and along with their perceived stress (being ranked from low to
high). Prior factors were also taken to account; age, sex, and various other factors were added to
the measurements. Every year the cohorts were observed for weight gain and it was indicated that
the individuals with moderate to high stress levels had been associated with higher BMI and waist
circumferences. (Jaarsveld, 2009) This study demonstrated that stress can affect any individual
regardless of the age.

international financial condition and regional economic slow down,. However, it does not mean
that we can escape from the crisis. The risk in the current financial market is quite high, particularly
the banking sector. Therefore, investment decision requires proper prudence.
Ratio Analysis
WBC and CBA vary in their sizes of assets, retained earnings and other financial figures. Ratio
analysis can effectively eliminate the issue of different sizes and makes the comparison more
relevant. In our investment decision making process, relevant ratios such as percentage return,
4. reward to risk ratio, P/E ratios and so on will be discussed and evaluated in this section.
Return Measurement: Percentage Return
Percentage return is always an issue concerned by the investors, which measures the rewards can
be earned on the investment. According to Christensen et al (2007, P336), percentage return
consists of dividend yield and capital gain yield. Appendix 2 is extracted from Fin Analysis
(Aspect Huntley, 2008) about the two yields for the past 7 years. It is scientific that the past
performance of a corporation is being evaluated in order to predict its future performance. Graph 1

Blanche s Fragile Psyche in A Streetcar Named Desire
Blanche DuBois in A Streetcar Named Desire is to some extent living an unreal existence,
according to Jonathan Briggs, book critic for the Clay County Freepress. In Tennessee Williams
play, A Streetcar Named Desire, the readers are introduced to a character named BlancheDuBois.
Blanche is Stella s younger sister who has come to visit Stella and her husband Stanley in New
Orleans. After their first meeting Stanley develops a strong dislike for Blanche and for everything
associated with her. Among the things Stanley dislikes about Blanche are her spoiled girl manners
and her indirect and quizzical way of conversing. Stanley also believes that Blanche has conned him

Since that day, Blanche believed that Allan s suicide was really her fault. She became
promiscuous, seeking substitutes (especially young boys), for her dead husband, believing that she
must have failed him sexually. Gradually her reputation as a whore became widespread and
everyone in her hometown knew about her. Even for military personnel at the near by army base,
Blanche s house became out of bounds.
Promiscuity, though, wasn t the only problem she had. Many of her aged family members had
died and the funeral costs had to be covered by Blanche s modest teacher s salary. Some of the
deaths were slow and painful and wreaked havoc on Blanche. She was forced to mortgage the
mansion, and soon the bank repossessed it. At school, where Blanche taught English, she was
dismissed because of an incident involving a seventeen year old student who reminded her of her
late husband. Even the manager of the hotel where Blanche stayed during her final days in Laurel,
asked her to leave because of the plethora of different men that had been seen there in her company.
All of this, cumulatively, weakened Blanche, turned her into an alcoholic, and chipped away at her
mental stability, bit by bit.
The death of Blanche s husband affected her greatly and helped determine her future behavior.
Allan had lit up her world. It was like you suddenly turned a blinding light on something that

6. The Formation Of A Contract Requires Offer And Acceptance
The formation of a contract requires offer and acceptance in order to become legally binding.
An offer is an expression of willingness to contract on specified terms made with the intention
that it is to become legally binding as soon as it is accepted by the person to whom it is
addressed. The advert above is a unilateral contract as one party assumes an obligation under the
contract . Consideration is the act of performance in accordance with the terms of the offer, in
this case acceptance would take place once the offeree starts the race. For example, the case of
Carlill v Carbolic Smoke Ball Co [1892] where Mrs Carlill was entitled to the reward as the advert
constituted an offer of a unilateral contract. She had accepted by... Show more content on

The Borough of Mayfair cannot revoke the offer, as revocation can only be made at any time
before acceptance. In addition, withdrawal of an offer has to be communicated between both
parties and in this case withdrawal was not communicated. Nicole was informed of the
withdrawal of the money after acceptance and performing the actions required were completed.
Therefore, the contract cannot be terminated. A person cannot accept an offer of which they are
unaware of because in order to create a binding contract, parties must reach an agreement. In this
case Sylvie had no knowledge of the offer and she did not intend to run the race in order to
receive any rewards. It can be said that the only intention she had was to accompany the rest of
the competitors. The stages of a formation of a contract were not complete as offer was made to
anyone , but Sylvie was not aware of the offer. This restricts the next stages of acceptance and
consideration. Therefore, a legally binding contract was not made between the Borough of
Mayfair and Sylvie, due to the missing stages of a formation of a contract. The Taylor v Laird
[1856] case illustrates how a claim failed because one party did not have an offer from the other
party to do a different job. This illustrates that a contract requires communication in order for it to
become legally binding. Even though the conditions which were required were performed,

10. Commercial Sexual Exploitation Of Children
these children have never had a stable upbringing or positive parental influence in their life.
Like drug and gun trafficking, it s an industry based on supply and demand, and every year
traffickers generate billions of dollars by victimising millions of people. Traffickers use false
promises of lucrative jobs, education or a loving relationship to entrap victims. Sometimes poor
families are told that their children are being taken to work in garment factories, or even as models
and that the family will benefit from remitted income. But in practice, recruiters often indebt their
victims with hefty recruitment and travel fees, and take advantage of victims unfamiliarity with
foreign laws and culture.
Thus the commercial sexual exploitation of children offers traffickers increasingly large profits with
lessening risk. With human life valued at an all time low in many countries as populations increase,
internet grants greater access to children and previously unattainable profits. Even small time
traffickers now make big time money. As a result, drug dealers, gangs, and organised crime have
been lured from traditional crime into the big business of human trafficking. To an increasing extent
we find them dealing in children instead of guns or drugs. They value profits over human rights.

13. Systemic Lupus Erythematosus ( Sle ) As Simply Lupus
Abstract
Most know Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE) as simply lupus. It is difficult to diagnose and
treat but the symptoms can be mentally and physically devastating for any patient. Many may not
realize the extent to which a person with SLE is affected on a day to day basis. It is important for
healthcare professionals to understand the disease process, including the cause, signs, symptoms,
and treatment of SLE. By understanding the aforementioned, healthcare professionals can assist
with reporting signs and symptoms to the patient s doctor to further reach a correct diagnosis, but
to provide holistic care to the patient. SLE is a heterogeneous autoimmune disease which means the
body s immune system fallaciously attacks healthy tissues and various organs, in this case,
primarily the skin , joints, kidneys, and brain of both men and women.
Systemic Lupus Erythematosus is a chronic inflammatory disease which may affect many
different organs and tissues in the body. Lupus erythematous was first known as a skin disorder by
Pierre Cazenave a frechman in 1851. But even before the articles were found that went back to
ancient Greece. Lupus got its name because Lupus patients developed markings or rashes that
resembled that of a wolf. There are four types of Lupus, Systemic Lupus Erythematosus, Discoid
Lupus Erythematosus, and crossover or overlap Syndrome or Mixed Connection Tissue Disease.
Individuals of any age, sex, or race may develop the diseases.

15. Reflection About My Practicum Experience
This portfolio is reaching its end and it is now time for me to start reflecting about my practicum
period. Last year was a great year and a challenging one as well.
When the practicum period started I was lost, I did not know where to begin and what to do and
it took me time to adapt to the new challenges I faced. Once I sat down and considered my
options I began searching for schools to do the practicum. The city I live in has many
disadvantages as far as education; on the one hand, English is not taught in kindergarten so I ended
up teaching in a Language School during the kindergarten period; on the other, there are not many
qualified English teachers and this resulted on very scarce feedback from the teachers who
observed my lessons.
As time went by, things did not get easier; it took me three months to be accepted in the primary
school because of some issues with the Ministerio de EducaciГіn . Luckily, I did not have such
problems in the secondary school.
This portfolio helped me realize my strengths and weaknesses as a teacher. As regards my

SUMMARY:
Samuel Wasser, from the Center for Conservation Biology at the University of Washington in
Seattle, has spent the past 15 years comparing and matching DNA samples from elephant ivory and
dung in an attempt to locate where the most poaching and smuggling is happening. This research
led Wasser and his team to report that since 2006, the smuggled ivory has come from predominantly
two areas: the combined region of southeast Tanzania and southwest ... Show more content on

African elephant ivory trading has been banned for twenty five years yet there is still a large
market in Asia. Populations in Tanzania and Mozambique are still decreasing and the African
forest elephants face extinction within the next ten years. But Wasser is not alone in the fight
against the ivory trade; the UN Office on Drugs and Crime and other international focused
bureaus and agencies have taken this issue on, and those agencies are using his research to put
traffickers behind bars. The Seattle team received the ivory from Kilindi, and the sheer of amount
of ivory means that it must have been distributed by organized crime networks. Because the ivory
is professionally smuggled, there is no evidence to point to where the ivory comes from. Wasser
knew that they needed to find out where this ivory was being poached, so he created contacts that
would send him the dung of elephants. This gave them DNA of different elephant populations
which they could compare to the ivory, and allowed him to discover the two places where they

The historical Enlightenment saw the emergence of a zeitgeist of thinking that used science and
reason to understand the world. Philosophes such as RenГЁ Decarte, John Locke, Voltaire and
Denis Diderot began questioning the core foundations of feudalism as everything around them
became questionable. The intention of the historical Enlightenment was to encourage people to
begin thinking for themselves and to seek knowledge, yet in order to acquire the ability for
knowing, thinking and reasoning, education was required. Diderot, who authorised himself as a
propagandist for a rational and secular view of the world, asserted that education in the sciences and
humanities was the key to individuals living good lives within well structured societies.... Show

Furthermore conservatives believe that changes are to be organic, rather than revolutionary, as any
attempt to modify the complex structures that form society runs the risk of a dramatic unfolding of
unintended consequences. These beliefs can be linked in explaining the unforeseen repercussions
of regarding science and rationality as omnipotent. Conservatives argue that through the subjection
to a utopian ideal of a rational society, humanity has in fact been enslaved rather than liberated. The
endeavor to replace arbitrary monarchial power by rule of reason is limited, as it has
metamorphosed from an instrument against oppression to a mechanism for oppression. The
promise of scientific rationality had consequently become destructive and the individual freedom
that philosophes had been seeking succumbed to enslavement of the economic powers that

18. Lighthouse Of Alexandria Research Paper
The Lighthouse of Alexandria is the very first lighthouse in existence. This structure is considered
to be one of the seven wonders of the ancient world because of its structural feats and innovative
uses for the time. Not only withstanding natural disasters such as tsunamis and earthquakes but also
being able to withstand constant pounding from the sea. Alexander the Great was going around and
conquering many lands and naming new cities after himself at this time. It is believed that he
named up to seventeen cities after himself. Alexandria, Egypt became the most prosperous of these
cities because of the location chosen. He placed his city far enough south so that they could take
advantage of ports in the Nile and the Mediterranean Sea. So... Show more content on

Another tale says that it was possible to use the mirror to magnify the image of the city of
Constantinople, which was a sizeable distance across the sea, and use this to spy on the
happenings there. There is also an unlikely myth that a part of the lighthouse was demolished
through deceit. In 850 A.D. it is rumoured that the Emperor of Constantinople, devised a clever
plot to get rid of the Pharos Lighthouse. He would have possibly done this because it was a big
attraction to the city. This could also relate back to the rumour that the lighthouse could be used to
observe the city of Constantinople. So the emperor tricked the emperor of Alexandria at the time
that there was a wonderful treasure buried within the lighthouse. When he heard these rumors, he
ordered that the tower be pulled down to search for the treasure. It was only after the top two
sections of the tower removed that the Caliph realized he d been tricked. Apparently he had
attempted to rebuild the tower but could not get it to its former structure. This story does not add
up though because there are reports of travelers visiting the lighthouse in 1100 A.D. It is interesting
that this structure generated so much buzz around it. It was built of course to be impressive but

Massage therapy is so popular today. Looking in any yellow pages will give proof that.
Evidently, more and more people are training to get into the field. The pay is pretty good,
considering that in Tennessee, good massage therapists get anywhere from $50 to $100 and hour
for their work. A half hour will give you around $30 $50. This isn t bad, but people need to
consider what s involved and the expenses that are inevitably going to be incurred. Massage
therapy is really for strong people who have good hands. Because the arms and hands are so
intensely used, there will be constant strain on these areas. It s best to know that any occupation
involving repetitive movement stands a high chance of damaging nerves or muscles in the part
of the body used the most. Many training schools also teach self therapy and exercises to
minimize that risk. Nobody can predict arthritis, but that may be one side effect of continued
flexing of the muscles of the hands. Naturally, its not wise to get into this business if one has any
problems with those parts of the body. Cost has to be considered. A good massage school costs
money and time. Massage school can take two years to complete, combined with ongoing training
necessary for keeping up the certification. Certification alone incurs a yearly fee. People getting
into any profession also need to keep careful books so as to balance their profits against expenses.

Introduction to Organization and Environment In regards to the Kirksville Library Volunteers
Case, this is a medium sized public library located in a large, southern city. Non profit. Funding. In
order for the library to function beyond the limits of its normal paid staff, the library relies on a
large volunteerreserve of 75 volunteers.
This library functions like many other libraries in its input, throughput, and output. It is most
likely a non profit organization that is funded by sources such as taxes, grants, and private
benefactors. The library also likely runs on a quarterly budget if not a yearly budget and it does not
often have to change how things are done. Because of this, the library by definition falls into a
placid environment. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Volunteers would be guaranteed projects and tasks to do during their shift. In this situation there
would only be one employee managing the 75 volunteers, again this may be too much for one
person. Managing a lot of individuals can cause frustration for the selected employee who is
managing the volunteers, thus disturbing morale in the workplace.
The most practical solution for this management case would be to choose three to four serious,
eligible and qualified volunteers to become Volunteer Coordinators. Each Volunteer Coordinator
would be assigned to one section of the library e.g. circulation, technical services, or outreach and
so on. They would be liaising with staff from the designated section, creating a list of projects and
tasks that could be fulfilled by the volunteer. Previous communication issues would more than
likely be solved between staff and volunteer coordinators.
The Volunteer Coordinators would then select which category of the library volunteers would
work, dividing them up evenly as possible. A trusting relationship will begin to form after the
volunteer works in their designated section. One disadvantage of this arrangement could be that

and pray differently, we come together as one equal. This quotation relates to a religious site

Some things change, some things stay the same. The National Education Association (NEA)
adopted a code of ethics in 1975 (Strike Soltis 2009, p. viii). While this code still upholds many
concerns that educators face today, it is important to make sure that a code of ethics is a breathing
document. It must adapt and change with the changing of time. Strike and Soltis (2009) reference
the code of ethicsquite regularly throughout the entire book. It is first introduced in full at the
beginning of the book. Looking over the code, it is important to remember that much has changed
since it was first adopted. While all of the code still applies, it is necessary to add to the code to
make it acceptable for the twenty first century.
The Code of Ethics, (as cited in Strike Soltis, 2009, p. x), Principle II article 7 states, [the
educator] Shall not knowingly make false or malicious statements about a colleague. A provision
under the statement should be, this includes undermining a colleague, faculty member, or a staff
member while in front of others or students. It is important that there is professionalism in the
work place. The ethical code, (as cited in Strike Soltis, 2009, p. x) truly covers students rights very
well. In Principle I Article 6 it states,
[The educator] Shall not on the basis of race, color, creed, sex, national origin, marital status,

26. The Mire, Story Excerpt
It was a dull, grey morning, as was every morning in Lofter, and a blanket of mist settled over the
hills. The soft smell of rain lingered in the air. Rain was to be expected. As it always rained in
Lofter. And the rain would saturate the mire, which stretched on for miles. I remember my arrival
to the villageof Lofter. Even after all these years. As it s dismal appearance would be a precursor
of the things to come. All of which I shall share with you in due course. But first, I must bring
into light a few essential factors that, though seemingly irrelevant, lead to the final outcome of
this tale. And though those of you, with severely practical minds, may find the story of which I

Hitherto, I had looked upon my situation in a skeptical manner. Let this story be a warning then

27. Driving Habits Affect Your Transmission
How Your Driving Habits Affect Your Transmission
Believe it or not, how your drive your vehicle play a part in how long it last. Not only does it
play a part in the life span of your car but in the transmission its self. If a person is a smooth and
attentive driver there transmission is going to last ten times longer than someone who could care
less. However, they will be caring when their transmission breaks down due to their driving.
Transmission repairs can be costly. That alone is a good reason to be a better driver. In this post
you will learn a few different driving habits to prevent in order to keep your transmission and car in
top running condition.
Excessive Speeding
Not only is speeding against the law and dangerous to other, but it is also very hard on your
transmission. When you are speeding your transmission is working double time in order to
provide so much power to your wheels. There is a difference in speeding and doing high speeds
on the highway. When you are on the highway you stay at a steady speed without excessive
accelerating. When you sand speeding in and out of traffic you never know when you will have to
slow down and speed up. this causes your transmission to work more than necessary and can
shorten the transmission s life span. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Little do they know that this is not a requirement and it is harming the transmission more than it is
helping. Downshifting is when the driver shifts into a lower gear to slow the vehicle. This bad
driving habit can cause the gears to grind and eventually wear down causing them to need to be
replaced. Downshifting causes major strain and damage to the transmission and shorten the life
span of the transmission dramatically.

29. Laser Crack Measurement System for Pavement-Management Sytems
Pavement management systems (PMS) can work effectively only when they are constructed by
organically combining all activities concerned with road pavement (planning, design, construction,
maintenance, rehabilitation, evaluation, economic analysis, and research) and the data bank [1].
Then, the most important items are the establishment of a serviceability index, which represents
pavement quality, and a prediction of performance, which is represented by the relation between
time (and/or traffic) and the index. Pavement quality consists of two primary factors: riding quality
and skid resistance. The factors influencing riding quality are pavement distress and/or roughness.

Therefore, measuring the macro texture is one of the essential components in pavement management
applications.
The requirements for acquiring these factors are the following: (1) That data acquisition cost is as
cheap as possible; (2) that data analysis can be done in a short time; and (3) that data acquisition
doesn t influence the speed of other traveling vehicles, in particular on roads with heavy traffic [2].
Pavement surface distress measurement is an essential part of a pavement management system
(PMS) for determining cost effective maintenance and rehabilitation strategies. Visual surveys
conducted by engineers in the field are still the most widely used means to inspect and evaluate
pavements, although such evaluations involve high degrees of subjectivity, hazardous exposure,
and low production rates. Consequently, automated distress identification is gaining wide
popularity among transportation agencies [6]. With the advancement of 3D sensor and information

in the making through process, narration, materials and motion.
Art is a process. One must move freely from idea, to research/exploration, to construct in order to
become fully immersed in the act of making. Even in the construction of a piece the elements go

time. There are artists whose work directly comments on process and becomes part of the meaning.
Sol LeWitt s conceptual works by instruction and Chuck Close s photogravure production

someone when you don t know where they are coming from and don t know what they are dealing

her work back to England and getting them printed they may have never been known. The
intimacy and feeling she shares with her work is like that of a mother and child and that bond

brother in law getting her work printed is the cause of feeling that follow. Ironically the next
thing she talks is the shame she has been thrust upon her by not being able to perfect the work

In order to improve the AAT method, it needs to compare the reconstruction of temperature and

ray path will be investigated, from nominal straight line caused by variation in sound speed. For the
first step, it is required to employ improved ray path geometry calculations. Then, arrival time

Police officers in recent years have been ordered to focus on suspicious individuals that may
possibly perform acts of terrorism, but how do they know for sure that this individual is a
terrorist. Don t they all resemble each other and we cannot single out an entire race because of
their religious beliefs and that fact that some individuals of those same beliefs chose to take a path
of violence (Hanson, 2010). What factors do these predators look for when choosing their hate crime
victims? There are several different factors such as the individuals race (do they resemble Arabs
or Muslims), their clothing (are they wearing religious attire), their head gear (are they wearing a
head dress) and even their actions and how they speak to other individuals. Some examples of
these hate crimes are murder, beating, arson, attacks on their religious mosques, verbal threats and
even vehicle assaults. Hate crime predators don t think of how they are affecting others lives but in
essence are taking their anger out on the individuals that they have linked to such a terrible and
tragic event in history (Hanson, 2010). After this event, it only took a matter of days for hate
crimes to begin in the United States. In Gary, Indiana, Hasson Awadh owned a convenient store. As
he was opening up for the day less than a week after September 11th, a man began shooting at his
store with an assault rifle. Fortunately

36. Digital Forensic Investigations
The field of digital forensics has become increasingly more important over the last few years as
both the computer and the cellular market has grown. The field of digital forensics is relatively
new [16, 17]. Various methodologies have been proposed, yet there is no accepted standard
procedure within the digital forensics community. Several forensic techniques are used with
success where others have failed to prove events beyond doubt. Reasons for this failure include
inadequate resources, lack of sufficient training and shortage of funding. Experts are scarce and
expensive [18], while the lack of a professional association governing the actions of experts has
been criticized [18, 17]. Within the research community there are also inconsistencies in
terminology used to describe various processes [19,20]. The current literature reveals a number of
proposed frameworks, models and procedures that have been put in place in an attempt to formally
describe an effective digital forensic investigation process. In digital forensic investigations, various
processes focus on different actions performed, such as the data extraction, data examination, and
data gathering and so on. Others tend to be more concerned with the analysis of the data extracted
from the digital media.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

37. Analysis Of The Closing Of A Facility Essay
Background Martin, Bartol and Kehoe (2000) relay that the rapidly changing business
environment, which includes reorganization, acquisitions and mergers between companies, has
been the impetus for many layoffs of employees due to downsizing, which in turn can cause
legal issues for the company if not handled appropriately. The recent merger between Davis
Manufacturing and Bartlund Technologies present such a scenario when the necessity for more
efficient operations calls for the closing of a facility in San Jose, CA along with the reduction of
that facilities staff by 20%, before relocating the rest. Karen Howell, the division manager, will
work with the area managers to determine the employees designated to be dismissed using
performance appraisals as the basis for terminations. When ascertaining the employees to be
terminated, the dismissal criteria must be clear, consistent and fair in order to avoid legal
consequences (Gomez Mejia, Balkin, Cardy, 2016). These authors espouse the most frequently
used criteria is either seniority or employee performance, or a combination of both, with each
method having advantages and disadvantages. Disadvantages relayed for using seniority is the
loss of superior performers and protected class members. For this reason, Gomez Mejia et al.
(2016) believe performance appraisals are the most proficient method to retain the best employees,
but they also pose greater legal risks if not properly documented. What should Howell do? How

38. What Are The Four Chambered Heart
Fish have a two chambered heart with one atrium and one ventricle. Oxygen diffusion occurs in the
gills. Amphibians have a three chambered heart with two atria and one ventricle. Reptiles have a
four chambered heart with two atria and two ventricles. However, there is mixing of blood because
the ventricle separation is incomplete. Birds and mammals both have a four chambered heart. All of
these hearts contain valves and the rest of the body receives bloodthrough arteries (which carry
oxygenated blood away from the heart) and veins (which carry deoxygenated blood back to the
heart) and capillaries (where the two meet). The cardiac cycle is the period during which the heart
fills with blood and pumps it out. During one cycle, it receives deoxygenated

Jonathan Knowles Rm. 223 4/13/16 Document 1 Excerpt from Piers Plowman Question: What
economic trap did peasants suffer from according to lines 3 4? 3: Changed with their children,
and chief lord s rent 4: What by spinning they save, they spend it in house hire Answer: The
economic trap that is stated in this poem, translated by Terence Tiller, to the peasants is a couple
of things. First, in the 3rd line, it states, Charged with their children, and chief lords rent, which
is implying that they must pay for their children and also pay or rent the land that they live on
which is granted to them by the lords. In line 4 it states, What by spinning they save, they spend it
in house hire. This is stating that the peasants would have to also pay for their houses damages
while being stressed by all the other cluttered things they must pay for. They overall economic trap
for the peasants is them paying others and for themselves to live a somewhat healthy life, such as
lords and vassals and for their children. Document 2 Quotation from Juan Ruiz What does the
writer mean by a man not being able to , call himself his own master? Question: Answer: The writer
means that compared to a man with excessive wealth being honorable and respected, the man that
is penniless cannot call himself his own master. This implies that while the man with wealth is the
ruler, the penniless man is the one being ruled. The man with no money cannot call himself his own

November 21, 2016
According to the American Diabetes Association, diabetes mellitusis a group of metabolic diseases
characterized by hyperglycemia resulting from defects in insulin secretion, insulin action, or both.
The chronic hyperglycemia associated with diabetes results in failure of various organs including
eyes, kidneys, heart, and blood vessels (American Diabetes Association, 2016). Possible
complications of diabetes include heart attack, stroke, kidney failure, leg amputation, vision loss,
nerve damage, and premature death (World Health Organization, 2016).
The databases for the Centers for Disease Control and Protection, World Health Organization,
National Institute of Health, National Vital Statistics Survey, and Kentucky Data Warehouse and
Kentucky Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System were reviewed for datasets and information
for diabetes mellitus.
Globally, an estimated 422 million adults were living with diabetes in 2014. The prevalence of
diabetes has nearly doubled since 1980, rising from 4.7% to 8.5% in adult population. In the past
ten years, diabetes prevalence has risen faster in low and middle income countries in comparison to
high income countries. Diabetes is responsible for 1.5 million deaths in 2012 (World Health
Organization, 2016).

41. Romeo And Juliet Deaths
Romeo and Juliet, the Shakespearean playwright of two star crossed lovers, ends in two tragic
deaths of both Romeo and Juliet. Who can be hold responsible for their deaths, when so many
things went wrong along the way? Many could be held responsible for the deaths of the two
lovers, but Romeo himself deserves to carry the heavier load of responsible for not only his
death, but the death of his lover, Juliet as well. The young boy s acts of irresponsibility, impulse,
belligerence, immaturity, and streak of bad decisions only brought definite consequences to
both himself and Juliet. As the story of Romeo and Juliet further progresses, Romeo s true
character becomes more and more apparent; he seems to act solely by impulse. Romeo acts
moreso with his emotions, and sudden thoughts than his brain which stores reason and logic.
This causes for tragedy and unfortunate circumstance by the end of the poem. This shows how
impulsive he is in most of his decisions and how he tends to be very dramatic in everything that
he does. When Romeo discovers that Juliet is dead, he almost immediately dramatically decides
to drink poison, to kill himself. Here s to love, O true apothecary, thy drugs are quick thus with a
kiss I die. Which shows how quickly he makes wrash and dramatic decisions without thinking it
through. If Romeo had not been so careless and impulsive in his decision, Juliet would have
awoken and they would both still be alive. Romeo is also extremely short tempered and
belligerent. Often, Romeo resorts to violence when conflict occurs, he is quick to act out of
rage. This goes hand in hand with how impulsive and irresponsible he is, which further supports
that he was responsible for him and Juliet s death. Romeo kills Paris out of rage and fury, as
violence has become a natural instinct or reaction for him. Romeo killed Tybalt as well, over a
simple joke. That is two lives that Romeo himself his responsible for taking, is it hard to believe he
could be responsible for his own as well as Juliet s, due to what we ve seen him capable of over the
course of the story. O, I am slain if thou be merciful open the tomb lay me with Juliet. Romeo

42. Jamaican Music, Culture, And Music In Jamaican Culture
Reggae music was a big part of Jamaican culture. Many artists practiced the style of reggae and
some of the artists like Bob Marley influenced and showed people internationally all about this
music. It originated around the time that Jamaica was being attacked by European countries like
Spain and native people being taken into slavery. Bob Marleywas born after the time of slave
trading but whites still effected the native people and this is how he got his inspiration for his music.
a)The music of Jamaica began five centuries ago, when Columbus colonized the land of the
Arawak Indians. This dates the start of oppression by first the Spanish and then the English in this
area of the Caribbean. Blacks were brought in as slaves by the English, and although Jamaica has
had it s independence since 1963, the tension of authority and control still reigns. Jamaica is a story
of injustice, international influence, ineffective governing, and unequal distribution of wealth; all
of these elements provide a solid base for the theme of oppression and the need for a revolution and
redemption in Jamaican music. Reggae in particular reflects these injustices, and the feelings,
needs and desires to change the lifestyle that Jamaicans have historically lived. Reggae music has
two meanings. It s generic name for all Jamaican popular music since 1960, West Indian style of
music with a strongly accented subsidiary beat. Reggae can also refer to the particular beat that
was extremely popular in

43. Dove is Trying to Change the Look of Beauty in Women
According to Dove.com, Only 4% of women describe themselves as beautiful. Women have
always dealt with problems of beauty. Many of them desire to look like the models they see in
the magazines. Unfortunately, this unrealistic expectation has led American women to judge
their own beauty in some negative ways. However, a campaign by Dove has attempted to
convince the other 96 percent of women that they are also beautiful. Dove Real Beauty Sketches
is a short film produced in April 2013 as a part of Dove Real Beauty campaign. The purpose of
this campaign is to show that you are more beautiful than you think by comparing the sketches of
self description and the descriptions from strangers. At the beginning of the film, over lightly soft
music, a group of female participants from different ages briefly talk about their appearance, and
how they wish they can be somehow different. Then, they are called back into a warehouse where
a man named Gil Zamora, who is a FBI trained forensic artist, is waiting in front of a drafting board
with his back to them and separated by a curtain. He asks them about their hair color, chin, and their
most prominent feature. At the same time, he draws sketches based on how they describe
themselves, and then draw the same people with the strangers describing them. Then, the
commercial continues to flash on the next screen; the artist shows the sketches to these women
with the version of their appearance in their mind compared to the version everyone

45. Lord of the Flies Compared to Animal Farm Essay
Dictators often use fear as a control tactic in their countries as they want to make sure they have
total power over their people. Fear is defined as an unpleasant and often strong emotion caused
by anticipation or awareness of danger, often causing a person to act according to what is
necessary for survival. Although fear can be unpleasant, many people like it in different ways;
some like the suspense that scary movies bring, while others like the thrill that is created when
cliff jumping. George Orwell s allegory Animal Farm and William Golding s novel Lord of the
Flies, exemplifies societies who are controlled by authority figures during the war. Jack, a

Napoleon uses that strategy because animals are scared and their ignorance makes them believe
that if they work harder and do what Napoleon says, they will have a better chance of surviving.
Jack s tribe also does everything he says because they are scared to physically get hurt or killed.
Therefore both leaders benefit from this physical fear that both societies experience. Both
leaders use supernatural things and outside influences to establish fear over their society. Jack
uses constantly the beast to his own advantage. He often makes allusion of it to scare his tribe,
as it is shown when he says the beast might try to come in (Golding 177) to his guards. This
shows that he is definitely afraid of the beast even though he tries to reassure his tribe to not be
afraid, which perfectly links with his previous words of this head is for the beast. It s a gift
(Golding 151) which clearly proves his fear of the beast, while at the same time using that as a
way to persuade his tribe that they are safe with him as long as they do what he says. Napoleon
uses lies about outside enemies to his own advantage. Napoleon claims that Snowball is a traitor
and was secretly frequenting the farm by night (Orwell 52) causing panic in the animals. Therefore

46. Reflection Of Robert s Speech
Speaking Recognition Final Essay The most effective overall speaker in my opinion would have
to be Robert. The way he acts on stage feels like he knows where he s at and runs it. His speech
regarding the No Smoking Policy was outstanding in such a way it was well spoken. In my
opinion why he deserves to win the most effective overall speaker would have to be because of his
charisma, preparation, confidence, and attitude on stage. His charisma was amazing. He was
always happy and willing to make something funny out of serious embarrassing moments for
example when he gave the speechabout dating two people at once others can view that as
inappropriate. He was willing to go up on stage and make it funny which grabs the audiences
attention. Also he has a smile on which brings an happy attitude. This allows him not to speak with
a monotone voice which would make the presentation boring. His confidence on stage was the thing
that allowed him to be, in my opinion, the most effective overall speaker. He always stood up
straight, didn t use much filler words and new what he was talking about. His preparation was
one of the key aspects why he was so confident. You could tell he was super prepared for all of
his speeches which allowed him to talk in a clear voice and add funny comments within them. The
speech regarding the dating two people at once was my favorite because it was a random but
interesting topic to present a speech on. His introduction was interesting because he

The Ivy League is a group of eight private universities located in the Northeastern region of the
United States. The Ivy League has general connotations of academic excellence and elitism,

ranked among the finest universities in the world, especially in business, law, and medicine. Each
school receives millions in research grants and other subsidies from federal and state governments,
and universities like Harvard have over $34 billion in endowment funds. With small enrollment
rates, that amounts to a lot of money per student. This allows the Ivy League universities to afford
the resources needed for their academic programs and research endeavors. The Ivy League schools

Ivy League, they are competing against groomed upper class kids who know how to write

Low class students find themselves ignorant about admission requirements, costs of college and

Crusades and the Church
At the time of the Crusades, the official church had become corrupt and politically motivated. It
should be noted, too, that crusaders did not take vows to go on crusade. The very term crusade, in
English or in any other language, is a much later invention. What we call crusades, contemporaries
knew as pilgrimages or even simply journeys. Aside from a tiny elite, people were illiterate and
even if they could read, there was no access to a Bible or any scriptural teaching. It was an age of
superstition and magic, where visions, signs and wonders were claimed by many. The masses
only source of knowledge about God was whatever the often corrupt and greedy clergy decided to
teach. The early crusades ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Regardless of motivation, an individual underwent a specific ceremony before he could be
considered a crusader. The ceremony evolved somewhat over the centuries, but its general
outlines remained the same. A would be crusader sought out an ecclesiastical authority (a priest,
bishop or higher cleric) and swore to carry out an armed pilgrimage in support of the Holy
Places. He then usually received a cloth cross which he could place on his clothes to signify his
new status. Crusading vows were usually taken in response to official preaching of a crusade by
licensed churchmen. They were supposed to be taken only by fighting men or those who could
otherwise contribute to a military effort, and they were not to be taken without the permission of
the crusader s wife, since his long absence would deprive her of what was delicately called marital
rights (Pope Innocent III, in need of troops for his crusading proposals, changed this in the
thirteenth century, but in doing so he violated longstanding Church tradition and the plain
intentions of canon law). The crusader s property and people were then placed under the protection
of the Church, and he was to begin preparing to leave. If he did not discharge his vow within a
certain period of time, he might be excommunicated by the church until he kept his word.
Crusaders were often offered an indulgence in return for participation in the hardships of a crusade.
The indulgence was later seriously abused, and

In the year of 1906, the Holy Trinity Holy Cross Greek Orthodox Church was established in

what the Orthodox faith has to offer. Throughout the years that the church has been open, many
people from across Alabama have come to listen to unique services and participate in an
unforgettable experience.
Being one of the oldest religions in the world, the Orthodox Church has many ancient teachings,
such as: there is One, Holy, Catholic and Apostolic Church . This teaching is included in the Divine
Liturgy of the church, and is personally one of my favorites. The Holy Trinity Holy Cross Greek
Orthodox Church offers many services to everyone and continues to encourage and promote the

51. Andrea Del Castagno Analysis
During the Renaissance, a religious view of the world made a huge impact on art. The biblical
character David became an emerging popular subject among artists. Although David s story is
quite simple, artists faced challenges creating a visual representation of the young hero. The two
main obstacles were discovering how to portray the body committing the act, and also rendering the
spirit of the act itself. Among the artists who tried to recreate this story visually were Andrea del
Castagno and Andrea del Verrocchio. Castagno introduced his form of the Davidthrough painting.
The piece was entitled David with the Head of Goliath, and was originally used as a parade shield.
It differed from common parade shields, which were decorated with simple coat and arms, due to
its rare painted scene. The shield was believed to have been carried in civic or religious processions

His David is depicted in a confident pose after the battle with Goliath is already won, while
Castagno depicts David in both the moment of fighting the giant and after defeating him. Both art
works show Goliath s head under David s feet, but Castagno tells more of the biblical story in his
imagery and action. The piece being painted upon a shield also plays a testimonial role. In the Old
Testament, David is a young shepherd; he uses the motive that if God protects his sheep than God
too will protect him before going into battle with Goliath. By painting this imagery on a shield,
one can conclude that God is David s shield (David). Verrocchio s work lacks this deeper analytical
meaning. Andrea del Castagno s David with Head of Goliath stands 45 1/2 x 30 1/8 inches wide
at the top and 45 1/2 x 16 inches wide at the bottom. The work was made of tempera on leather on
wood. Castagno painted the piece in about 1450/1455. The work was part of the Widener

52. Pros And Cons Of Social Hierarchy Theory
This particular model is well established in today s modern communities. However, there are
certain disadvantages of the said model. It does not take into consideration social aspects such as
standard of living and the financial system as a whole. There are several other factors other than
biological that are responsible for an illness in individuals such as hierarchyand power that vastly
affects a person s health in today s world.
Hierarchy is defined as the categorization of collection of individuals in accordance with their
financial, societal and professional position in the society. Individuals are divided on the basis
of race, religion, class, ethnicity and many more factors which in turn have great impact on the
health and services provided to individuals in these distinct categories. Firstly, we will discuss
social dominance theory which was developed by Sidanius and Pratto in the year 1999. The
theory describes the source of societal hierarchies and how these classifications boost certain
groups and adversely affect people in particular groups (Moss, 2016). According to this theory,
there are dominant and subordinate groups and there exists inequality in both these groups.
There are three different arrangement of hierarchy in all developed economies on the basis of
age, gender and subjective reasons such as ethnic group, race, rank, belief and faith. There are
five key determinants of this theory. To start with, governing groups possess dominance over
other minor groups. Also societal background greatly impacts these groups. It is more prevalent in
males than females and is affected by traits of people and socialization happenings. We further
discuss Karl max s theory of socialism which classifies individuals in society into three groups
namely upper, middle and lower class (Hierarchy structure, 2017). Normally known as the Marxist
Social Hierarchy, the said theory explains that the wealthiest individuals owning land belongs to
upper class, individuals who work for upper class and sells their talent in return of money
comprises of middle class. Lastly, less earning group with no property comprised the lower class.
There have been discrepancies amongst all these groups as far as health and health care

53. The Soul By Mary Oliver Summary
From the earliest philosophical debates to the latest scientific research and experiments, the issue of
inner being or soul is unanswerable yet. Such spiritual mysterious like the eternal connection
between creatures in nature is a favorite theme among poets. In this poem, Mary Oliver
demonstrates the ideology that soul and consciousnessare not uniquely for humans. The main
themes continue to be the intersection between the human and the natural world, as well as the
limits of language in articulating such a meeting. Although she has been criticized for writing
poetry that assumes a dangerously close relationship of women with nature, she is only strengthened
through an immersion with nature. Writing while walking around the woods, Mary is the kind of
person who scribbles but shared it. Manifesting her experience of touch and feel does a great job to
sum of our reality. The listener is affected by her language and certainly feel more attached to the
environment and the mother earth.
The poet deliberately illustrates the reality of the soul using visual examples to indicate a better
understanding of spirit which is subjective. For instance, selecting iron as a symbol of solid
element requires a great vision which makes an invisible reality more sensible. By giving tangible
examples of other animals, she tries to open the reader s mind that they should experience the
similar thoughts about their existence. In addition to the wild nature, inanimate objects look alive
with soul
