Changing self-doubt into self-belief is a choice. We are answerable for ourselves. Only we can change what and who we are.
Everyone is generally familiar with the adage, ‘If you believe it, then you can achieve it.’ The great question to ask is whether or not we truly believe in the old adage. Allow me to share what I have been learning about overcoming self-doubt.

3. Leadership from Within You must be the master of your fate: You must be the captain of your soul. INVICTUS Out of the night that covers me, Black as the pit from pole to pole, I thank whatever gods may be For my unconquerable soul . In the fell clutch of circumstance I have not winced nor cried aloud. Under the bludgeonings of chance My head is bloody, but unbowed. Beyond this place of wrath and tears Looms but the Horror of the shade, And yet the menace of the years Finds and shall find me unafraid. It matters not how strait the gate, How charged with punishments the scroll, I am the master of my fate: I am the captain of my soul.

Editor's Notes
Introduction
Active process, with influence, resulting in change Of the research and large number of models available, there is evidence of characteristics in common. (Personal Qualities) Good Leadership encompasses:- Personal integrity along with competency, courage and concern for people; Challenging and indeed shaping the way things are both in relation to context (externally) and culture (internally); Developing, articulating and communicating a clear purpose in the form of a desirable vision that needs to become shared and understood by both all stakeholders; Providing direction and support with enabling and empowering measures to facilitate aligned action; Leader involvement, setting personal example , infusing core values and building relationships as the basis of individual and team motivation as required in evolving circumstances; Making sense of and managing boundaries across the organisation and its network of partners; Recognising people’s effort and performance, with regular contact, feedback and conversation; Being prepared to hold people to account and having the courage to deal with tough and complex situations. Fostering an atmosphere of energy and excitement (if not fun), linked to good relations, goal achievement and bottom line results. Gary Yukl ( 2006, p8) presents a definition that encompasses a more collective approach:- “ Leadership is the process of influencing others to understand and agree about what needs to be done and how to do it and the process of facilitating individual and collective efforts to accomplish shared objectives.”
Shared or distributed leadership. Still usually needs a coordinator.
Must have followers to lead – consequences of losing followers – need to understand the power and importance of followers to a leader Must know, respond to and even shape social identity of followers – if you hit the right mark you can influence followers and lead them(New Psychology of Leadership) Sense maker Not too big an intelligence gap – followers need to connect Respect and interpersonal trust needed (Johari?) Need to be conscious of levels of leadership Dyadic operational on one-to-one basis Team strategic/operational on group basis Organisational strategic Strategic More transformational and social intelligence Operational More transactional and managerial Institutional More political and less freedom to lead? Individuals - Team You do not lead a team but individuals who work as a team – there may be an “in group” and “out group”. Effective leadership is contingent on effective leader-member exchanges (LMX Theory).
